Forms :: Listbox Multiselect - Adding Records To Junction Table

Apr 21, 2014

I would like to use a listbox set to multiselect to add records to a junction table. I've been using code to accomplish this with checkboxes (love how it looks and works) but after moving my tables to Office 365 as the backend, linkedto a local frontend, sql does not like this particular set up, and I do not have the time or knowledge to sort out why. So what I need is a step by step to look at the many, in this case possible roles a contact can have, and choose one or more, which then creates a record in the junction table with the contact id and role id.

I would prefer to not use a combobox on a continuous form because every time a user goes to select roles he would have to scroll through all the choices for each separate role.

Multiselect Listbox Passing To A Field

Jan 26, 2005

I'm trying to create a database where a single "Classification" field is populated by selections made in a multiselect listbox and I can't figure out how to do this. Any help people can provide?

Table 1:
Name_ID <pk>
Name
Classification

Table 2:
Classification_ID <pk>
Classification

What I want to happen is click on a button next to the Classification field (text) and a popup form with a multi-select list loads (this part is easy, of course). The user can select as many classifications as they want, click the ok button and each item selected then goes back to the first form and populate in the Classification field (seperated by commas or semi-colons).
This possible?

Multiselect Listbox Passing To A Field

Apr 19, 2005

OK - I have seen the other posts where individuals are trying to select multiple items from a list box and have a field populate with the selections. I have not seen a clear explanation defining if this is possible.

Essentially, I want to be able to query on the field and search for multiple selections within that field. Any recommendations as to how this can be achieved?

My next question, is if the selections in a multiple instance field are separated by a comma or some other character what is the best method to query for multile responses. For example, if the following data is in the field 1,2,3 and I want to query on 1 or 2?

Passing OpenArg To Listbox On Other Form

Aug 11, 2011

On the first form I have a button with the following OnClick event :

Private Sub Rispondi_Click()
acbReceiveMail
On Error GoTo Err_Rispondi_Click
Dim stDocName As String
Dim stLinkCriteria As String
stDocName = "frmSendMail"

[Code] ....

On the form opened upon click ("frmSendMail") I am trying to populate the "cboTo" combobox with the "txtFrom" value from first form. In the OnLoad event I have written :

Private Sub Form_Load()
Me.cboTo = Me.OpenArgs
End Sub

Anyway after clicking the button that should open "frmSendMail" I get a popup saying : "An expression you entered is the wrong data type for one of the arguments" (run-time error '2498') ....

Passing Multiple ListBox Selections To Subform

Sep 21, 2005

Using Access 2003.

I will have a ListBox on the form with “Multi Select” set to either simple or extended. I have a collection of documents which must be recorded in a database. Some documents may have only one author, but could have more. Same with the recipient or copied-to.

Ideally it would be nice to have the ListBox on the left, selected one or more from the list and then pass them to one of the three fields by a command button, sort of like:

cmdAuthorAuthor1
LISTBOXcmdRecipientsRecipient1; Recipient2
cmdCopiedTo Copy1; Copy2; Copy3

I would like to have all of the names selected from the ListBox as a string, but fully understand the problems associated with normalization. Other posts have suggested subforms. So, the question is how to select from the ListBox and then pass the possible multiple selections to discrete fields on a subform that would display, say three fields and which would get away from the normalization issues:

cmdAuthor [Author1] [ ] [ ]
LISTBOXcmdRecipients [Recipient1] [Recipient2] [ ]
cmdCopiedTo [Copy1] [Copy2] [Copy3]

The secondary issue will be that there will be subsequent names which are not found until actually in the process of document review which will create a need to update the ListBox, which I know is not akin to a ComboBox NotInList function.

If there are any thoughts or coding out there which will help, it’d be appreciated.

Forms :: Passing Data From A Form To A Table

Jul 5, 2013

I have a search form that searches for student ID from the student demographics table. I have it set when I click on the student ID (Frm_Student_Demographics_DailyCares) it will open the student visit form. When the student visit form opens it will show the student ID on the Student Visit Form but it is not being recorded in the student visit table.

I have Student ID control source on the Student Visit Form set as:

=[Forms]![frm_SearchStudent_DailyCares]![Frm_Student_Demographics_DailyCares].[Form].[SD_Record_ID].[Value]

My tables are called Student Demographics(parent table) and Student Daily Cares(child table) and they are linked by Student ID.

I have done this before on another part of this database but I just simply can't seem to find what I missed.

Here is a sample of my forms and tables.

Modules & VBA :: Passing Values (From Two Column Listbox) To Saved Query

Oct 3, 2013

How can I pass two (2) values to a saved query ? These values are in a form that has a listbox with two (2) columns. The name of the form is 'Previous Evaluation Form'. I'm able to retrieve the values from both columns of the listbox in the form and I've already created the query. Both are working fine, but can figure out how to pass the query's criteria to select records for 'Name' and 'Date' columns of the query. Below is what I had in the 'Criteria:' of the query. What wrong with the code that is placed in the query's 'Criteria:' ?

Modules & VBA :: Using Records In Listbox To Add New Record To Table?

Mar 27, 2014

I'm using access 2010. I want to put some code behind a button that will allow the user to add selected products in a listbox to which ever operation is selected in a combobox by creating records for each product / operation combination in a third table:

tblProducts
tblOperations
tblOperationProductMM
- ProductID
- OperationID

I have a form with a combobox on top that allows the user to select the operation for which they want to add products. There is also a listbox that displays all records in tblProducts. The user can select one or more products and then the idea is that they can then press a button that will use the selected record IDs from the list box and the record ID from the combo box to create new records in the many to many table.

Forms :: How To Display Records On A Form Based On Listbox

Jun 5, 2014

I designed a simple form that has a listbox and a subform. I am using Northwind database for testing.

I would like to be able to display on a subform only records based on a value of a list box.

I created a listbox using a wizard and selected an option 'find a record on my form based on the value I selected in my list box'. This kind of works but it does not display all records matching criteria.

Attached print screen 1 shows my table and there are six records for 'Las Vegas' but my sub-form displays only three for Karen Toh (print screen 2) and all records for John Edwards are missing. I am not really sure how to fix this problem.

Ideally I would like to take this a step further and do another list box with Last Name and then filter data even further down so for example if I select Last Vegas and Edwards then the form would show me only matching records.

Forms :: Send Records To New Form By Double-click In Listbox

May 4, 2014

I'm in desperate need of a (simple I guess) code to allow me to send records from my listbox to a new form. Scenario goes as follows:

I use cascading combo boxes to narrow my available choices and finally end up with a listbox presenting the records filtered through cascading process. Now, I want to double-click on a record and load a new form with all this record's fields.

This is the code used to populate the listbox:

Private Sub FilterTypeList()
Dim strRS As String
' Filter the list box appropriately based on the combo box selection(s)
strRS = "SELECT qryTaxonomy.Type, qryTaxonomy.Article FROM qryTaxonomy"

[Code] ....

What is the code to open a form with the double-clicked record's fields, as described above?

Forms :: Search Listbox Results Point To Wrong Records

Jul 31, 2015

So I created a search form which filters my results. Apparently I don't have enough posts to link to the source of the code though. The code is from this website, /forums/showthread.php?t=188663

I then wanted to allow users to double click a result in the listbox to take them to the form which contains details about that record, however the listbox doesn't point to the correct record.

-When nothing is specified in the search field, all records are shown in the listbox, but double clicking on the first record takes me to a form that has no information. Clicking the second record takes me to the Detail Form of the first record.
-When information is put into the search field, the results are filtered and only a few display, however clicking the first result again takes me to a blank form while the second result takes me to the first record of the unfiltered list. There is no way to reach the Detail Form for the last result of the listbox.
-I tried right clicking the results in the listbox and copy pasting the information. The first result gave me a "0", the second a "1", and so on and so forth. This was the same whether or not the information was filtered or not.
-I tried switching to a combo box and got the same results.

Modules & VBA :: Training Matrix - Matching Listbox Selections To Table Records

May 6, 2015

I have a training matrix that lists employee names and certifications on various operations. The objective is to choose an operation and run a query to display everyone who is certified on that op. There are additional variables.

Code:
Name EMP ID OP1 OP2 OP3 OP4 OP5
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
John Doe 526261 C C C
Bob Doe 555622 C C C
Sheila Doe 066600 C C C

Okay that looks about right for the data itself. The listbox has all the ops, you choose an op and hit a button and it goes and finds everyone who has a 'C' in that op column and pulls their record.

Forms :: Multiple Selection Listbox To Table

Jul 24, 2013

I have a form called "Record Call" when a user can input the calls that they have made or are scheduled. This form is based on the table "Call Records". I have created a new table called "CallAttendees" and added a listbox to my form for users to select who attended/participated in the call.

My code loops through the selections and writes these selections to the "CallAttendees" table. In this table i have an auto #, CallRecord, and Attendee fields. My code is supposed to write the "ID" field from the "Call Record" table to the "CallAttendees" table so that i can create the relationship between the two tables. However, this field is coming up blank since my form isn't generating the auto # until the record is closed.The tables are stored in a SQL server. I also tried saving the record prior to running my code.

Forms :: Dynamic Row Source For Listbox From Multi-select Listbox

Jun 10, 2015

I am using the selections made of the form to generate a query for the user.

I have a CITIES listbox that is populated with values from a stored query.

I would like to make it multi-select and populate a LOCATIONS list box and a NAMES list box based upon the CITIES that are selected.

I have the locations currently populated from a stored query that reads the City selection from the Form. It looks like this

Code:

SELECT DISTINCT (t_location.LOCATION) AS Expr1
FROM t_location INNER JOIN t_asset_master ON t_location.LOCATION_PHY_ID = t_asset_master.LOCATION
WHERE (((t_location.CITY)=[Forms]![MasterQueryGenerator]![CityList]));

I also want multi-select so that is you can un-select all and get the results for all cities.

Here is my half thought approach.

Code:

Private Sub CityList_AfterUpdate()
'Dim LocQryStr As String
'Dim r As Integer
'Dim ctl9 As Control
'LocQryStr = "SELECT DISTINCT (t_location.LOCATION) " & _

[Code] ...

I intended to have the variable LocQryStr as the row source but I abandoned the idea of having multi-select when I saw that .Selected(I) never returned true. Its like the values aren't read in this subroutine.

Forms :: Multi-select Listbox To Display Distinct Values From Table

They also have sorting options next to them (Asc or Desc). I am now trying to put in a multi select list box under each combo box to allow users to filter the report to their liking. Currently I am trying to pull distinct values from the specific field of the table and display them in the listbox for users to select.

I have tried using vba to set me.filter1.rowsource = SELECT DISTINCT me.combo1 FROM EVAP_Database, but this doesnt seem to work. I have also tried a few other codes and still no luck.

Forms :: Right Click Listbox To Copy Selected Items To Temp Table

Mar 7, 2013

I'm trying to create a right-click event on a listbox that will copy selected listbox item(s) to a temp table. So far, I've got this code to acknowledge the right click:

Code:
Private Sub List0_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single,
Y As Single)
If Button = acRightButton Then
MsgBox "You pressed the right button."
End If
End Sub

Problem is the selected item on the list box doesn't move until after the mouse down event so whatever code I would run would involve the wrong record(s).

I'm using Access 2000 and 2003. How to get the the correct record selected on mouse down, or point me to a working example of right-click functionality on a listbox.
