Forms :: Save User Name That Update Record For Multiple Yes / No Box
Sep 6, 2014
I am creating a form that has a bunch of yes/no box for daily task. Is there a way for access to record which user selects yes/no.
For example
yes/no box1 - user 1 completed this task
yes/no box2 - user 2 completed this task
and so on
So when i look back i can see which user complete which task. I did a bit of research and saw that i can save a user that update a record. But since this is a daily task, each new record will be a new day.

I am working on a form and I only want the information to be inserted into the database if the user clicks the button at the bottom. In other words, if the user is filling out the form and then closes the form, I do not want that record saved.

I have a problem where a user (with what I believe are the proper security settings) cannot save a new record in a form. I have set the securities on the form and the related table and query to allow this user to create new records (Add/Run).
This user is able to access the form and enter the data, but it will not save. I have added a "Save" button to no avail.
When I log on as the administrator, it works fine.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I Have a forms which brings up a record in textboxes when you hit a search Button using a value that you type into a Textbox called BarTxt. My problem is that this value may not be unique. Therefore I'm trying to find and update the table using 2 values from the table (Barcode and PurchaseOrder).I have entered the code
Code:
Private Sub SearchBtn_Click()
PNTxt = DLookup("PartNumber", "BookInTable", "BarCode ='" & [BarTxt] & "'" And "PurchaseOrder ='" & [POTxt] & "'")
End Sub
This however is just bringing up a Type mismatch error. Even though both are text fields.Also even if I just use Barcode to search which works. My update Code
Code:
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET DateBookedOut = '" & Me!DateTxt & "' WHERE BarCode ='" & [BarTxt] & "'" AND PurchaseOrder ='" & [POTxt] &
I get an Compile error saying "expected expression".

Hello!
I am trying to update the current status of an asset, when it was returned or checked out. At the same time, save the changes in a history table to record all the changes in past. I can do individually from different tables and different forms, but I would like to do from one form and one record entry. Is it possible? If so can anybody help?
Thanks

I wanted to get the autonumber ID before a record was saved to the table. My fields are on a form that is linked to the table. Maybe my solution is not the most elegant but it seems to work.
I messed around and came up with this solution: it creates the next record and captures the autoID then increments it and creates the record we will actually use. Since we know the current autoID we know 100% the next will be the current+1
Code:
' Code by Witchcraftz
' Button event to add new record
Private Sub cmdAddRecord_Click()
Dim strID As String
[code]...

I need saving 2 input fields into a table. Here is the situation
tableA
studentID
Name
tableB
studentID
Name
Course
Fee
I have a form with a drop down list, to select studentID from tableA. I selected a dropdown from studentID to display Name, and that I tied to txtName
I then type in txtCourse and txtFee whatever value I want, example:
txtCourse = English
txtFee = 50.00
Now, I'm able to transfer studentID and Name from tableA and save to tableB, and delete the record I just selected in tableA.
The issue is, I can't save the txtCourse, txtFee as I don't know how.
Here is what I have
Private Sub Insert_Click()
Dim strSQL As String
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tableB SELECT studentID, Name FROM tableA WHERE studentID = '" & txtstudentID & "'"
CurrentDb.Execute strSQL
strSQL = "DELETE FROM tableA WHERE studentID = '" & txtstudentID & "'"
CurrentDb.Execute strSQL
End Sub
I'm stuck on how to save txtCourse and txtFee into tableB where I have Course and Fee fields.

So I have this relatively simple problem: I need to create a button that once clicked will open the Save As dialog box and allow the user to save a copy of the current database where he wishes. The filename should contain todays date in DDMM format along with some pre-set text e.g. DDMM PresetText.
I am using Access 2010.

I have a form that a user fill out to populate fields in my database...how can I make it so that user MUST fill in certain fields before they are allowed to save data?
I need to stop users from taking shortcuts when entering data, and skipping a lot of fields. So i would like to be able to specify the minimum fields, and an error message must show when they try save incorrectly to alert them to this.

I have a simple application where a user clicks on the name of the person he wants to update from a drop down box.
The record is then retrieved and the fields are filled on the form.
The user will then enter a value in the # in household field.
The user is then required to click on the save button to write the record for this person.
I do not have strong users and they invariably forget to save the record and go on to the next person, resulting in the record not being updated.
I coded a message box as part of the save button which displays "person was successfully updated" and then instructed the user to make sure that they see this message before they go on to the next person. They still fail to update correctly.
My question:
Is there a way when the user selects a person from the drop down box and it is loaded on the form, to warn the user that they have NOT updated this person, before they go to the next person?
I don't know what else I can do with these users. They are all volunteers and elderly and the application is for a Food Pantry.

How can I make certain my user enters records on a subform before attempting to save the main form? Right now they can completely ignore the subform before saving the record.The Main form has business address, etc. on it. the subform is bound to a join table that lists the multiple categories, subcategories and sector the business is listed in for a directory.
I already have my fields set to required at the table level in the join table, and have some existing VBA in both my subform (to update edited date) and my form (to validate empty records where a certain condition is met) but that's not the issue...
How do I focus the user to enter a record on the subform to the point where they are forced to enter something and complete the subform before the record is updated.

MS Access 2007. I am trying to make a form.
Form2
Text0 = Textfield for ID
Text2 = Textfield for LName
Text3 = Textfield for FName
btnRet = Button for retrieve when ID is entered in Text0
btnUpdate = Button for saving the changes made in the textfields.
How can I search the ID from the Table I made? And when it was matched, get the details of that ID unto the designated text fields. It was like retrieving the data from the table with the ID typed in the text field from the form I made.
Then when it was retrieved, I can edit the fields and when I hit the Update button, the edited fields will replaced the original data.
Also after it was updated, a new record will be added in the history table that the ID was edited. Is is possible?
For now, i want to know how to retrieve the data with the ID and edit and save it after and update the table. Does it applies with the codes with the retrieve button and update button?

After I enter data into one field in a record I would like the form to save the record when I move to another field in the same record. It seems that the record is only saved when I exit it entirely. Is there a way to save a record when moving between fields in that record? Can this be done without using an Event Procedure for each field?

The Database is not split. Have 30 some users.
Here is what I am trying to do.
I have Mary, Sam and Bill logged into the database.
When Mary signs in she has no records to update, but when Sam and Bill logs in they have records to update.
How can I get a message just to Sam and Bill, but not to Mary?
I have a qry what records needs to be updated.
Just how would I go about this? I thought I had it when I use the "environ" but that just shows who is logged in. I am sure the form has something, but I haven't found out where.
Can you point me in the right direction?

I have a database for mutli users which is split. Front end is available separately for 3 users. These users make data entry in the same form from their front end form. This particular form has combo box that retrieves data based on selection in combo box and the use starts filling the data in the subform. Upto this, form is Ok, no problems seen.
But when the second user opens the same form from the split database front end stored in his computer, and once the second user selects another record from the combo box, first user's record also changes immediately to the record of Second user. Both users now have the same record even though the form is separately accessed from front end.

I have a form with three subforms (Request, Employee Availability, and Employee Assign) in the image below. The user enters the ID in the Assign form (#4) which relates to the request at the top. When the user moves to the next record I want the value of the "Assigned" field at the top to be updated to "yes" for the record with the same ID as enter below.
In the end the following item with disappear when you return to the record: ID #4, Employee ID 109187, and Request ID 2 from the below form. My problem is I not sure how to get the Request form to update after the user moves to the next record.

Hello,
I have a database we use to enter new account numbers and several other atribbutes about the account and it is split into a FE/BE with the BE in a shared folder. I have the open database using record-level locking checked but it seems to me that the database is opening up with page-level locking. Multiple users will receive a message that the current record is locked and I am sure that they are all not updating the same record. Does anybody have any idea's of what I can do? If nothing else I am going to have to recreate my form as an unbound form and see how that goes.

I have a form named CORRES_TYP with 3 text boxes and a list box. I also have a separate table with 3 field from where the information I put in the form was saved.
In my form whenever I put information on the textbox at hit add record button, these information are saved in my table and will reflect on the listbox on my form below the textboxes. Also if I select a record in the Listbox the record I selected will apprear on the corresponding textbox in the same form.
My problem is that I have been trying to create a command button that will save and change the existing record everytime I select an item in the list box and modify the information through the textbox. Here are some infromation about my table and form:
Table name = CORRES_TYP
Field 1 = CODE (Primary key, No Duplicates)
Field 2 = DESCRIPTION
Field 3 = FOLDER
Form name = CORRES_TYP
Textbox 1 = CODE
Textbox 2 = DESCRIPTION
Textbox 3 = FOLDER
Listbox name = LIST14

I have a simple EXIT command button that runs these macro actions: save record, close form. I also have a SAVE command button that runs this macro action: save record. If a user closes the form without clicking either the EXIT or SAVE command buttons, will the record changes be saved in the datasource table.
I have found from testing that the data is always saved even if the user does not click the EXIT or SAVE buttons, but I wanted to be absolutely certain. Is this correct ?

I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:
Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.
I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.
I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).

How to let the user save a preliminary version of a record in a form? I have a table with records representing airplane status. Sometimes, the user wants to save a preliminary version of the status and create some other versions and save all of them for that specific airplane, but this does not happen for all the airplanes. How would I do that? Is it possible at all?

I have a "Search" form that I am using to search through a query in a list box of all of my Customers. Once the record that I am wanting to view comes up I highlight it and click a "View" button to bring up another form with the customers full record. When this form is open I am able to update the customer information and add User's to it if necessary.
My problem comes after I click on my save and close button that takes me back to me search form. I want to close the search form and the error I get is "The record cannot be deleted or changed because table "tblUserProfile" includes related records." I click OK and get a SECOND error stating "You can't save this record at this time. MS Access may have encountered an error while trying to save a record. If you close this object now, the data changes you made will be lost. Do you want to close the database object anyway?"
I have already made my changes and saved them in the form with the customer record so am not sure why I am getting an error when trying to close the Search form.
