When I try to compile the code below I get the error message 'Sub or Function not defined'. I'm using Access 2007.
Code:
For x = 0 To 20
If Nz(rec1(x), "") <> Nz(rec2(x), "") Then
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tblResults ([Version], CUSTOMER_ID, CUSTOMER_NAME, CUST_LONG_NAME,
[Code] ....
What I'm trying to do is compare two recorsdsets and if it finds a difference, record the result line from both recordsets in a new table. This worked fine until I tried to go beyond more than 21 records from recordset 2 to publish to the Results table.
The problem arises in the 2nd INSERT INTO... statement. I get the error and it highlights the rec2(20) value. I can enter anything after it (it doesn't have to be a recordset value) but the error still occurs and it wont compile. If I close the statement at Rec2(20) it works fine.

Hi All
I have used Allen Browne's code (see http://allenbrowne.com/ser-16.html, bottom of page) as a model for my user-defined type and public function in an events management database.
Using the function in forms/VBA works fine.
But my DB crashes whenever I try to use it in a query.
My modules code:
= = =
Option Compare Database
Public Type EvCheks
EvType As String
EvAttCat As String
EvUnitAss As String
EvCheksAll As String
End Type
= =
Public Function getEvCheks(EV, EvUnit) as EvCheks
'Event Type: Event or DL
If (DLookup("evtype", "tblevents", "[evid] = " & EV)) = "Event" Then
getEvCheks.EvType = "Y"
Else: getEvCheks.EvType = "N"
End If
'Event Attendance Category: INDB= in database or LIST
If (DLookup("evattcat", "tblevents", "[evid] = " & EV)) = "INDB" Then
getEvCheks.EvAttCat = "Y"
Else: getEvCheks.EvAttCat = "N"
End If
'Event Assessing Organisation
Dim AOROName As String
Dim AOName As String
AOROName = DLookup("evunitassessable", "tblevunits", "[evunitid] = " & EvUnit)
AOName = Mid([AOROName], 1, InStr([AOROName], "/") - 1)
Select Case AOName
Case "NA"
getEvCheks.EvUnitAss = "N"
Case "ABCD"
getEvCheks.EvUnitAss = "Y"
Case Else
getEvCheks.EvUnitAss = "X"
End Select
getEvCheks.EvCheksAll = getEvCheks.EvType & getEvCheks.EvAttCat & getEvCheks.EvUnitAss
End Function
====
On a form, I have a button with on-click event code that defines the EV and EVU variables and displays a message box
MsgBox getEvCheks(EV, EVU).EvCheksAll
This works fine.
=====
In a query I have this SQL code:
SELECT tblEvUnits.EvId, tblEvUnits.EvUnitID, getevcheks([evid],[evunitid]) AS EventDetails
FROM tblEvUnits;
This causes the db to crash.
I cannot get the "back-end" definition of the function into the query, as Access rejects it because of the dot, i.e. ".EvCheksAll".
I suspect there is some formatting quirk for using a public function that includes a user-defined type, in a query.
Any/all assistance much appreciated.
Regards
AlanM

I have quite a few user defined / custom functions which I would like to be available in any new database that I create without have to copy the VBA codes in a module each time. Basically, some sort of add-in that loads on MS Access startup may be (but I am not too sure - never created one). So something that will start with the MS Access Application and not just a particular database. I know excel addins can be copied to the XLStartup folder to achieve something like this in excel, but not sure about Access.

I have created user defined function for lastdayofweek, lastdayofmonth, and firstdayofmonth. When I apply this function to an expression in my query, it returns a julian date. How do I apply the format for the calendar date?
Maybe I am not calling my function correctly. Here's my functions below as well as my expression..
Function LastDayThisMonth()
LastDayThisMonth = DateSerial(Year(Date), Month(Date) + 1, 0)
End Function
Function FirstDayThisMonth()
FirstDayThisMonth = DateSerial(Year(Date), Month(Date), 1)
End Function
[Code] ....

I have written a user defined function that calculates the end of the current month. This I named EndOfThisMonth. It works well as a function. Now I would like to use it as date criteria to include in a query. The function is included as such EndOfThisMonth().
The field on which this function is to enter as a criteria is another calculated date function called Due.
When I run this query I get an error message saying Undefined Function 'EndOfThisMonth' in expression.

Hi,
On Compiling my assecc database VB code I get the following error message "User defined type not defined". I understand it is beecause I have not declared the Variable Type, but have no idea to exactly which part of the code the error is referring to.
How do I find out WHICH User defined type is not defined, especially when I have not got any (or do not want to use any) user defined types?
Thank you in advanced programming wizards. Kind regards, Adam.

Quick summary (See Attached)
Data is stored in 11 tables each with matching primary key. Each table has in the range of 20 fields of which only numbered data type are being used in calculations.
Each Data table has 3 augmenting queries. All these queries work individually.
Summarizing query "QStationCountList_Sum" works fine.
Calculating a summation score by each "Master_PS_ID" works fine if I only try to summarize data by 3 of the calculating queries. As you can see in the attached database "QStationTotalScore1_6" query based on 6 gives "Too many fields defined". (I have tried so many fixes I can not remember and received messages such as "To Complex") While a similar query on 3 works fine.
At this juncture I plan to build 4 new partial sum queries each from 3 collecting queries and then build a 5 Summation query adding the results from the Sum queries. Surely there is a better way.

hi,
I am new to this forum and to MS Acess. i am not a software engineer or in the field of software. I had to learn as much as i could about MS Acess because of a project i worked on. I have a standalone MSacess database and one of the forms is giving me trouble when I try to enter a new record
The form is called frm_fragrances and has information about a fragrance.
the frm_fragrances has 4 fields in it and a sub form. the sub form has details about the fragrance
In a new record when I enter the 4 fields and attemt to go to the subform which has details about this fragrance I face this error.
an unexpected error haas occurred @2465: application defined or object defined error.
additional information
Active form:<frm_fragrances>
Active control:<txt_VendorName>
Previous control:<frm_fragrances>@Please call the developer for further instructions
I have looked in the FAQ and on this forum for help on error 2465 and cannot find anything to help me. I can work with forms to an extent but cannot write too much code.
I would really appreciate some help in this matter
Thank you

Good Morning
Looking for the user to select a product name from a drop down box (not type in) when running query / report which will return details on only that product rather than all others in the query.
I have got major problems with the custom dialog boxes -- have got a table of product names, a query called current stock ( active products) . I can easily get a standard dialog box by putting [product code] in brackets in the query and this is not a problem. However in getting a custom dialog box I have had lots of problems.
Created a form called form999 which has product name field as a combo box and this has been named master1 . Clicking the form on it's own brings up the dialog box correctly and the drop down box selects the current products which is should do.
However linking it to the query I have put [Forms]![form999]![master1] in the query and it will not link unfortunately and is driving me mad.
Upon running the query it simply brings up the standard dialog box with [Forms]![form999]![master1] as the "enter parameter value. Understand code is required to get the OK and cancel macros working etc but when I click the query it should bring up the custom box which is the first stage and it is not ?? Any assistance would be greatly received.
Are there any sample DBs which have a field or related parameter as a customer dialog box -- have looked for examples without success.
many thanks and regards

I'm trying to create a database for a construction company, as an experiment more than anything, and my problem is this:
I need to create a set of identical records in the table "buildings" based on the information entered into a text box by a user on the form for registering a new project. I want each record to be identical except for the "plot number" field, which I want to start at one and increase to the number of buildings defined in the text box.
"Projects" is one table and "Plots" is in the other.

I have a project at hand and it's been a predecessor of mine and client has asked me to do some work on it and extend functionality - but I have not really delved into Access before and I have had to worked my way through to this final snag :/
The Main Form has one sub form. This sub form allows the user to add multiple order items i.e. qty, stock, description from records within the system - fairly straight forward.At the last column of each row is the sub total of those particular items i.e.
Qty Unit | Item ID | Total
-----------------------
2 | 1234 | 80.00
------------------------
1 | 43526 | 20.00
------------------------
> | |
So the total is a function of =[Qty Unit] * [Unit Price].Then in the Footer of this SubForm is the Sub Total
=SUM([Qty Unit] * [Unit Price])
All fine and well..... However, the additional functionality kicks in.
Lets add the additional customer_id from the Main Form. Each Item bought is dependent on the customer_id i.e. they get special prices depending on who they are.So a New table is made which has the Item ID and SpecialPriceID (of a table to define as a specialPrice) and the Price linked to this Item and Special Price category. So say that there are two groups of users "wholesale" and "nonwholesale" these would be SP_1 and SP_2 and each client is defined either one of these, and each stock item has a Price for each SP_1 and SP_2. Hopefully I've explained myself there.
Back to the SubForm. So now the Total needs to calculated differently with needed the external customer_id from the Main Form.
Code:
Function CalculateSpecialPrice(ItemID As String, CustomerID As String, Unit As Integer)
Dim SPSelect As String
SPSelect = "SELECT Price FROM [Items_SpecialPrices] WHERE"
SPSelect = SPSelect & " ItemID = '" & ItemID
SPSelect = SPSelect & "' AND SpecialPriceID = (SELECT SpecialPriceID FROM Customers WHERE customer_id = " & CustomerID & ") "
[code]....
its the sub total I just keep on getting #Error on. I have even watched (using alerts) that the correct return variable is the same as the individual rows. This is the equation I used for the SubTotal within the footer.
=SUM(CalculateSpecialPrice([Item ID], [Form]![FormName]![CustomerID], [Qty Unit]))
#Error

I compiled my module, but an error came out,
Select Case Err.Number
Case 9999 ' Whatever number you anticipate.
Resume Next ' Use this to just ignore the line.
Case 999
Resume Exit_SomeName ' Use this to give up on the proc.
Case Else ' Any unexpected error.
Call LogError(Err.Number, Err.Description, "SomeName()")
Resume Exit_SomeName
End Select
And the error came out, Label Not Defined.
I've checked with "help", and it stated that
"The label must be within the procedure that contains the reference. Line labels are visible only in their own procedures"
Is there any missing references in the library I should checked??
Thanks!:D

Dim strSubCycle As String

"AND (([OCSE Cycle Raw Data].SUBCYCLE)=" & strSubCycle & ");"
Set rst = db.OpenRecordset(strSQL)

Hi
I have a main form and two sub forms for a stock control db.
The main form shows the product with controls for units on order and units on hand.
The first sub form handles stock transaction from a seperate purchase order form. This sub form has 'units ordered' and 'unit received' fields, which the relate back to the main form to calculate the units on order/on hand etc. So when a transaction is made on the purchase order the units on order will show say 100 until 100 is entered into the received field to update the units on hand etc.
Now the problem is that i have another sub form which basically is for stock going out once the order arrives in the store. I have a quantity out field but can not get the units on hand in the main form to sum the columns and calculate what is left when goods leave.
In the fisrst sub form (transactions) I have a units sold but it is hidden as it is needed. I could use this to sum the quantity out in the seconed stock control sub form but can not get it to do it.
The db has no data in it at present so i could post it?? but i really need someones help with this as the db is needed very shortly.
many thanks and i hope i explained myself properly.

Has anyone ever produced a function to let users, pick their own tab order for a form.
I am thinking along the lines of holding a tab order for each user for each form.
So when a form opens - if a user has saved a tab order the form will adopt it, if the user has never saved a tab order, the sytem default will be applied.
Would this work.

Can anyone help?
Is it possible to have an autonumber that is generated depending on the entry in a particular field? I'm creating a database to track various enquiries and I would like each enquiry to have a unique number that is preceded by a codenumber that identifies its origin. For example:
ABC query - 100xxx
DEF query - 200xxx
XYZ query - 300xxx
(xxx denotes the autonumber part)
This way a particular query can be identified just from its number without having to interrogate the main record.
Can it be done? I've searched other posts and not found quite what I'm looking for.
(If not then no probs - I'll think of another way!)
Thanks in advance
