Forms :: Unable To Open A Report With Subreports
Nov 26, 2013
I am trying to open a report (with subreports) from a form. When the report opens, I want the form to hide, which most of the time does. Sometimes, though, it won't hide when the report opens. So, I even created an error handler, and moved that part of the code to SubExit section, but the problem still occasionally occurs. Here is my code:
Code:
Dim strWhere As String
Dim strDate As String
Dim strDist As String
On Error GoTo ErrHandler
strDate = "=DateSerial(" & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Month(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Day(Me.txtAsOfDate) & ")"
strWhere = "YearEnd = " & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) - 1

I have a report with several subreports that occassionally grow. I also have several fields that don't grow. If my subreport grows, it moves any other fields down as well. These are fields that are below the subreport, but not beneath it (e.g. on a lower line, but to the left).
Is there any way to keep the other fields stationary?
Thanks!

Why I cannot print a report using a single record in a form using Access 2007.
I have added the button, I am using the following code:
Private Sub cmdPrintRecord_Click()
Dim strReportName As String
Dim strCriteria As String
strReportName = "Receipt"
strCriteria = "[ID]='" & Me![ID] & "'"
DoCmd.OpenReport strReportName, acViewPreview, , strCriteria
End Sub
However when I click the button nothing happens. I have attached the database ...
I am using the Contacts Entry form, and when I am on a record that someone has paid I want to be able to print from the Receipt report that has a simple formed up letter.

hey there
i have a main PatientForm that contains patient information from multiple tables:
[GENERAL] values
Subform - [RefMD] values (referring doctor)
Subform - [Drugs] values (prescribed meds)
Subform - [Diagnosis] values (medical diagnosis)
Subform - [Encounters] values (visits to the doctor)
what i have is a form (image attached) and i need to be able to select any combination of parameters (including state, zipcode from GENERAL, i.e. referring doctor last name from RefMD, Drugname from Drugs, Diagnosisname from Diagnosis, and VisitType from Encounters) and filter PatientForm where all the selected parameters are true..
does that make sense?
all tables are linked using the field HistNum
how do i code this? i am pretty lost right now

In my database, I have a report called "rptEventsbyEmployee" and in that a subreport called "sbrptEventsbyEmployee". The master/child link is the employee name. Everything is fine until you get to page 3 where the subreport shows twice.

I have a database (Access 2007) that handles a large number of consultants. Each consultant has a number of skills, has worked in a number of countries, and speak several languages. As contracts come in, I wish to generate a report based on the skill set, language and country/countries that best suits the contract; thereby identifying a group of most suitable consultants. I have designed a report with three sub reports for skills, languages and countries. Each sub report is linked to the main report through Link Master/Child fields using the ConsultantID. That's all fine; I get a report showing all consultants listing all their qualities.
Now, I want to be able to filter the sub reports on the three aspects: Skills; Countries; and Languages.
In the past, for other applications, and with the unfiltered form in preview I have used a popup form with unbound Combo Boxes to generate a string to use in the reports filter. I think I got that technique from Allen Browne, and it has really served me well.
Now, however, I can't use this technique since I can't set the filter for the sub reports. I thought that I might be able to use the Link Master Field with text boxes on the main report, but haven't managed to figure that out.

I am relatively new to Access. I am having difficulty summing up totals and bringing them into the main report. To be more specific I have two sup reports called WOExpenseTotalSubreport and WOServiceTotalsubreport. These two subreports are based off of queries that gather the description, price and qty of either services or expenses and then produces a "total" for me on the query.
When I bring these two queries into a report as sub reports I am able to Sum the "total" field in the subreport footer which works fine. What I would like to do is add those two totals together for a grand total on the main report. The two summed fields are called ExpensesSum and ServicesSum. It seems most things I have tried do not produce an expression error but the result is either #error or #name? Here are a few different scenarios I have tried both on the main report details section as well as the footer section.
=[Reports]![qryWOExpenseTotal subreport]![ExpensesSum]+[Reports]![qryWOServiceTotal subreport]![ServicesSum]
=Sum([qryWOExpenseTotal]![Total]) + Sum([qryWOServiceTotal]![Total])
=[qryWOExpenseTotal subreport].[Report].[ExpensesSum] + [ qryWOServiceTotal subreport].[Report].[ServicesSum]

I have three reports that I have used as the subreports for one master report. The master report shows the three subreports on a page.
When one or more of the subreports contains no data the master report still shows the empty subreport. I would like subreports with no data to be left off the master report if this is possible.
For each of the individual subreports I have used the On No Data event to display a message and then not open the report if there is no data. This works fine for the individual subreports but when I open the master report the "empty" subreport is still displayed.
Is there a way to leave the subreport off the master report when there is no data in the subreport?

I am working on a report that will have 16 sub-reports, one right below the other. Because of the complex nature of the calculations in the groupings it seemed easier to "build" the report using vba rather than using the report's built-in grouping ability. The issue I am running into is that there seems to be no simple way to control the height of the sub-reports. I had hoped that setting "can grow" to yes would change the height of the sub reports and move all subsequent sub reports down (Allas)
As an alternative I thought too that I might be able to set the height of the sub-report control, which would make for a tricky but not impossible bit of programming, but (Again allas) I can't seem to find a reasonable way to determine the required height of the sub-report's control.

I have two databases that have been split, and both back ends are in a shared folder on the server that only a few people have authorization to access. One of the front ends is accessed off another shared folder, and the other is saved to each person's desktop. They have been up and running for months, and I've had no problems with users not being able to access data from the back end.
The other day, I requested access to this protected folder for four people, which was granted. But, since the time it was granted, neither database will open unless the user has authorization to access the protected folder. They get an error that says the database is already opened exclusively or they don't have authorization to view its data.
I've created another test db and split it into the same folder, but my users are getting the same error.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike

Hi, I'm trying to connect to SQL Server Express from MS Access 2003.
I've created an ODBC data source and tested it within the ODBC Wizard. It successfully connects to the SQL Server database.
From within MS Access, I choose File > Get External Data > Import and I'm presented with a dialogue for choosing the data source. As soon as I choose ODBC from the Files of Type drop-list, the dialogue disappears. No error-message, nothing!
Has anyone else had this problem?

When trying to set a password I receive the following message.
You must have the database open for exclusive use to set or remove the database password.
To open the database exclusively, close the database, and then reopen it by clicking the File tab and using the Open command, In the Open dialog box, click the arrow next to the Open button and then select Open Exclusive.
When I follow the instructions, I don't get a dialog box. How do I set a password?

Not sure if this is the correct forum but its worth a shot.
When I try to open any database, MS Access will hang if there is already another instance msaccess.exe running. I even tried opening two newly created blank dbs with the same result. Has anyone ever come accross this behavior?
I have tried repairinging/reinstalling/checking and unchecking "Windows in Taskbar option"
Thanks for any help!

I am creating a database to store patient ultrasound reports in a clinic. The form I've designed contains a single patient's report with various values and measurements. I need a button on that form that opens a report showing ONLY THAT PATIENT'S data.
So, for example, if I've opened the form (AbdomenForm) on patient with ID 4, when I press this button, it should open the report showing only patient ID 4's data.
I can get it to work manually by creating a query (AbdomenQuery) that contains 4 in the criteria for ID (my table's primary key). Then I made a report (AbdomenReport) that uses AbdomenQuery as its data source and everything turns out well.
Now, how do I go about making a button on the form so that when patient ID 5 is open, that button opens the report for only patient ID 5? What code should I use and where should I put it?

I have a VBA program which is stored in an Access database. The program creates letters using Word template documents as well as new Excel sheets. When one of the users in my team undertakes this process she is unable to create the files (although she could before). The following error message occurs initially for the word documents:
"The document could not be registered word 2010. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to the document"
When I enter debug and attempt to run the code again the file opens but subroutine halts again and I get a different message:
"Could not open Macro storage"
The line of code which is identified for both errors is:
Set wdDoc = wdApp.Documents.Open(TemplateLocation)
Where wdDoc is the a Word.Document, wdApp is a Word.Application and TemplateLocation is the path for the template
I have already checked the following:
- 'Trust access to the VBA project object model' in the Trust centre is ticked and Macro Security is set to none.
- DCOM Server Process Launcher is set to automatic in Services (Local)

I have a form which runs specific queries and opens a report using combo boxes, these work perfectly fine if I just try to run them in the form. I have put the form into a navigation form and if I try to run the same query I get parameter queries popping up instead of just running the query and opening the report.

This is my data:
Table: "Facility Info"
Data in the table: "facility", "city", "date", etc.
Query: "Q Facility"
Report: "R Facility"
Form: "Main Form" is where the data is entered that goes into the "Facility Info" table.
In the "Main Form" there is a dropdown box where I can select the "facility".I would like to add a button to this form that opens my report "R Facility". But this report is a collection of all the facilities and I would like it to just report the ones for the facility that I selected from the dropdown box on my "Main Form".

I created a database to set-up contracts, record receipt and issue of drawings and generate procurement schedules for construction projects. The database has been in use for over a year and I have only now encountered an unforeseen problem, the fix for which is beyond my skillset. I am unable to generate the reports as I have done for the other projects in the database.
The problem is in the Drawing Registers section. When the drawings are issued, I have to log the date they were received, the drawing number, drawing title, revision letter/number and note any changes on the current drawing. The drawing number is the Primary Key and is linked to several other tables, forms, reports, etc. The problem I have now encountered is that Architects arent that creative when numbering their drawings and tend to use the same numbering sequence for each job. So I can have several jobs with the drawing number A01. I have managed to still keep this field unique by adding a prefix (either a job number or an abbreviation for the job name). This way I am not changing the actual drawing number. However, on this current job the Architect is using the numbering sequence A1, A2, A3A25. Because he is using A1 and not A01, the drawing register reports are not sorting the drawings in the correct order and drawings A10 is listed after drawing A1 and A20 after drawing A2.
I found a round-about way of getting the drawings sorted by adding a second field. The primary key would be my version of the drawing number where I can enter it in a manner that the drawings will sort; the new field would be the actual drawing number as seen on the drawings. The reports would be sorted by my field but this field will not be visible on the reports.Is there another way to sort these records?
