Forms :: When Duplicating A Record Duplicate Is Created But Form Remains In Edit Mode
Feb 25, 2014
I have a form with a duplicate record button.Sometimes when duplicating a record the duplicate is created but the form remains in edit mode (small pencil in the form margin).I also have a manual record counter on the form which does not refresh to the newest record number following the duplication? Both issues happen together and not independently.
I now have the standard MS Access record counter visible on the form to see whats happening and this always jumps correctly to a new record number when duplication is triggered, so when the problem happens the MS Access counter is showing one more than my own record counter.
If I use the standard MS Access record navigation buttons and go back and then forward by one record, the duplicated record is then corrected. The edit mode pencil is gone and both record counters read the same, which I assume has happened this has forced a save to happen
If Me.Dirty
Then Me.Dirty = False
End If
- in the current event of the form, would solve the problem, but it doesnt make any difference at all, its still no better, or no worse than before?Using CTRL + S removes the pencil, but doesn't correct my bespoke record counter?
I am creating an access database for recording calls and follow ups for a company
relevant tables mst_customers card_call
ID from customers and customer_id from card_call have a one to many with all records of card_call
Although its more elaborate than this, lets get down to the problem
I created a form with a subform that should basically allow selection of customer and based on this, the creation of records in card_call as per customer selected. form and subform are linked by customer_id
Everything is working except a peculiar issue where if i select a customer_id it shows all relevant records + an additional record (usually 1 or 2) that just changes the customer_id for that record.
Example
customer_ID = 2 (combobox bound to column1 and showing name/column2)
output call_ID | Customer_ID 1 | 2 2 | 2 3| 2
changing customer_id to 4 will change to 1 | 4 (new) |
I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?
I have created a database in microsoft access 2010 to show invoices for different customers in different countries. In doing so, I created using a two subforms in a main form. I have used the "country name" to link the subforms to the main form. When I enter new records into the subforms for a specific country, I realized that a duplicate record of an old record are being created in the subforms. What can I do to prevent this from happening? I tried to change the query link between the main form and subform to "invoice number" but the same problem has occurred.
In my database scenario, a patient would see a doctor and the doctor would check off fields in a form representing different disease symptoms that the patient has to calculate a final score (for ex. if the patient has 2 symptoms, the final score would be 2).
After a few months, the patient would visit the doctor again, and the doctor will have to fill out the same form, adding any new symptoms the patient might now have. I would like to have the disease symptom fields checked off in the previous visit automatically show up in the new form, so that the doctor only has to add the new symptoms, and then recalculate the score using both the old and new data (for ex., if the patient had 2 symptoms before and 3 more symptoms now, the score would be 5).
I have a navigation form that has a tabbed form on one of its tabs. The tabbed form has a 'current client' query record source and allows one to choose from a list of current clients and when a client is selected - details relating to client are displayed on various tabs on tabbed form.
I want to duplicate tabbed form and change record source to a query selecting 'exited clients' so I can see same information but for exited clients.
I have created a new tab on navigation form for my new exited clients tabbed form and changed record source by creating a new exited client query but when I change record source on exited client tabbed form it automatically changes record source of current client tabbed form to the exited client query and visa versa.
I have several subform tabs and one that I have updated no longer shows up when I run the form on Form mode. The tab is there but no content or details of the subform
I am trying to create a duplicate of a certain record in a table so that the user can then edit the new record - or old record even as it doesn't matter - as long as one of them is original. The idea is that any revisions / changes are stored the user may of made.
I have a continuous form with unbound controls. These controls write new records into a table using rec.addnew
If possible, I would like for the user to only be able to add/edit the new record only and not to edit the continuous form below. When I turn off edits on the form, I only get the new record to show. I found some pages that reference using code like .allowAdditons, .allowEdits and .allowDeletions but unsure of how to implement them since I have more than one control the user is entering data into. I also found another site that says to use a control to determine if the record is writable to: I do have a control that is set to =Date() on the default value.
I created a button in a form that duplicates the record so our employees can fill in the form more quickly.
I know I am being greedy, but is there someway to change the VBC so I only duplicate certain fields in a record, not all of them?
I have attached a (.jpg) of the Duplicate record code that is automatically created by Access when you use the "Duplicate record" option when making up a button on a form. I have attached a 2nd (.jpg) which shows the (7) fields I want to duplicate, out of the (20) available fields for each record.
I have created a form (races) with a subform (yachts in a race) to edit data in joined tables. It seems to be working well but I am having difficulty selecting which record to edit in the main form. I can scroll through the records until i get to the correct race but this won't work well when there are a large number of races to choose from.
I can see that I can use linked forms to select a race from a multi form or datasheet and call up my desired form by a double click on the ID field. This should work but isn't really elegant with users scrolling down a long datasheet to select the race record they want to work with. Is there a better way?
Races are uniquely identified by 3 attributes: SeriesDivision, Date & RaceNumber.I have created an index in the Race table for these 3 fields which forces them to be unique.I would love to create an interactive routine which asks users to select from a list for each of these 3 attributes and then returns the form for editing with the appropriate race record selected or even cascading - users select a SeriesDivision can then choose the valid dates for the selected SeriesDivision and can then select the valid raceNumbers for the selected date
I have a form which displays the records from a query (i have included a picture of this form) and allows me to filter them and create a report from the filter.
I'd like to be able to select a record with the record selectors (or preferably without) - and then go onto edit it in a new window and save the edit...
If possible also to select a record with or without record selectors and click a button to delete the record
I have a form that is locked unless they click the command button to edit records. I want a msg box that when they click the close button it pops up with something like save edits? Just as an extra precaution. But I only want the message box to pop up if the form is in edit mode. Is this possible? And I would like to be able to have them click ok or cancel in the message box
Here is the code for the close button:
Private Sub Close_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Close_Click
Have a text field in a form with following relevant properties:
Format tab - Format: Short Time Data tab - Inputmask: 00:00;0;_ Data tab - Default value: =Time()
Goal: show a default but editable current time in HH:MM format
Behaviour: When entering form current time is displayed in HH:MM - problem is that when I enter field with the curser it automatically changes format to HH:MM:SS.
I have added a popup menu to my form to reduce the number of buttons needed. I would some of the options only available in the add or edit mode. Because its not a traditional button i dont think conditional formatting applies. Can someone give me a hint where I should be heading?
I launch a 'CreateNewRecords' form from a 'MainForm' form. When the 'CreateNewRecords' form closes, the new record is visible on 'Main Form'.The underlying query is unsorted, so this code in the AfterUpdate event of 'CreateNewRecords' puts the cursor on the last record displayed on 'MainForm', which is the newly created record:
Forms!frmMainForm.Requery With Forms!frmMainForm.RecordsetClone .MoveLast Forms!frmMainForm.Bookmark = .Bookmark End With
However, I intend to sort the underlying query, which means that a newly created record may appear in the middle of the records displayed on 'MainForm'.
What I want to have happen is that after a new record is created by 'CreateNewRecords', the underlying query is requeried so that all current records are displayed on 'MainForm' but also that the cursor rests on the newly created record (rather than default to the first record).
I have a form that has two date combo boxes. I would like to have one of the combo boxes populate by itself with the same value the user enters in the other combo box. How do I do this?
I have set up a form and only want to display the date and time that will appear automatically based on when the record was created. I definitely don't know how to do this.
The format that I'm looking for is: 07/24/13 11:45:44pm
From what I can see I would need two separate fields to accomplish this. I would prefer to only use one if possible. I would like to execute the value within the new record as it is entered. That date and time from that point should never change.
I will want to use the date and time in the future for quality control.
I have a statistical program and the user constantly use the form to check calculations and get out without saving a record. In order to allow this with out writing to the table I used unbound fields and an accept and close command buttons.
This worked well until I added a subform to one of the forms. Now, if I just open that form and then click the close button, I get a blank record in the table associated to the main form. Is there a way to stop this?
I have a form that using "Query A" as data source. The Form need add (edit) a field value before save that Query Result to another Tabel. Is it possible to do that?
The PROCESS simply like below: Tabel A --> Query A --> Form -->Edit value a field -->Save to Tabel B
if it is possible, are there some requirements that have to be fullfilled?
I am trying to create a form to enter data in a table. I would like to make it pull in info from a switchboard. If the record already exists I would like it to find it and allow me to edit the info. If the record doesn't exist I would like to be able to add a new record with the data input. What is the best way to accomplish this?
