Dec 20, 2005
I have to run a query which has to select data between two date fields. But the problem here is that my table have start date and end date fields. And I have to give a criteria( like the between and ) one from start date and another from end date, but since my start date and end date are on different fields, i cannot do this by using between and . It will be appreciated if you can give help on this

I have a date and time stamp in a Date/Time field of General Date format (3/1/2006 7:52:25 AM).
I wish to select query on the table's Date/Time field by date portion only (3/1/2006) and not include the time portion (7:52:25 AM) of the field.
Using this expression in the query's criteria - "Between [Enter Start Date: (MM/DD/YY Format)] And [End Date: (MM/DD/YY]" will not return the date ranges as desired without also typing in the full time string.
How can the date integer be parsed out and the query properly expression ed on the criteria field without using VB?

I have a query based on a table which has a date field. the field both in the table and the query have the time also in the date value so when I try to query on a date I get nothing if I copy the date and time from the field I will get the result for that record if I just use the date I get nothing. I have tried the format which does display just date but if you click on the field the time is also there You must be able to query for a date only and get all the records.

OK .. bear with me. I am a self-taught Access user (sometimes clueless!) I have a table with member info. Children's birthdate is a field. Children are only eligible for the program until their 3rd birthday. Isn't there a way for the table/query function to figure out 3 years from the birthdate and put the data into a field?
The database already contains all the children birthdates ... can I enter a function that shows i.e., John's birthdate is 7/15/02 ... 7/15/05 is the date he becomes ineligible. If that date is in another column, I can sort all dates out and only view the eligible members.
I know this is probably SIMPLISTIC -- I am having a very hard time. THANX

I have three tables. Each table has the following
TblAA - aaDate, AAFS, AAFT, AAFU
TblBB - bbDate, BBFS, BBFT, BBFU
TblCC - ccDate, CCFS, CCFT, CCFU
The "xxDate" fields are (mm/dd/yyyy)
all other fields contain numerical data. (1,5,10 etc.)
I have linked the tables and it returns all of the results. However, My issue is that I want the user to be able to enter one date range to search all three tables at once.
Let's say tables AA and BB have data entered on 12/01/2006 and 12/15/2006, but CC has data from 11/07/2006. The user would enter Beginning Date: 12/01/2006 Ending Date: 12/31/2006 and they would receive results from the first two tables only.
I hope this makes sense. TBN (Tough Being a Newbie)

Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help me? I am at the stage now of building a query in design view. Rather than using a dynamic parameter field to capture a range of dates (between...[InputDate] And [InputDate]), I have created a text box in a form and want to pass the contents to my query. I have got this to work providing the variable that is passed is 'text'. I need to pass two dates though. When I put paths to the forms textbox in the 'Between' statement above, it just doesn't return any records. I think Access sees these text boxes as 'text' rather than 'dates'. I don't know how to change it so Access sees these as dates. Any ideas?

I am building an Access database for a client. It is an employee staffing database. With that being said they would like the ability to automatically populate the "T2PPCD" date field based on what is entered into the "Report Date" field. (Same table)
The date is the Monday after 180 days from the report date.
I already know how to get it to auto fill 180 days from the "Report Date" but I'm not sure how to tell it to give me the Monday after 180 days.

I'm losing my mind on this one. Here is my situation... I receive a daily excel sheet with these fields. I would like to import this workfile into access and would like to manipulate it anyway I want. The problem I'm coming into is that I can't collapse/group the datetime field into just the date when I run a query. I would like to be able to run a query on any date range the client registered, a query on any and all the unique dates the client purchased something, all the unique clients, etc. Here is a sample
Sales Name - Sales # - Client Name - Client # - Registered Dt - Purchased Dt
I would like it to show...
Sales Name - Sales # - Client Name - Client # - Registered Dt - Purchased Dt
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 7/26/2007 - 8/4/2007
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 7/26/2007 - 8/5/2007
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 7/26/2007 - 8/6/2007
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 8/7/2007 - 8/9/2007
and a different query like ( the purchase date doesn't matter here)...
Sales Name - Sales # - Client Name - Client # - Registered Dt - Purchased Dt
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 7/26/2007 - 8/4/2007
Paul, John - 273 - Kelly, Maria - 2252 - 8/7/2007 - 8/9/2007
I read in other places to change the format, input mask, convert, char, etc. but nothing. Please tell me exactly what to do. I don't care if the time changes to midnight or 0:00:00. I will owe you my first born child.

I'm trying to setup a query to pull only the records that have the latest date in Time Scanned for each different serial number.
I have a table with 4 fields: Serial Number, Model Number, Location and Time Scanned. Some records will have the same Serial Number repeated with different Model numbers, locations and times scanned.
I can't figure out how to query only the Last Time Scanned for each different Serial Number. I've tried using "Last" for critria on the time scanned field, but I need that for each different serial number.
It's probably easy...but I'm not able to get it. Thanks!

I am having a problem with calculating a date field in a query. Prior to this posting I've done some research and made several changes to my query. This only resulted in fixing one problem but then creating another problem. Original problem was I had 2 fields, arrived (23:36) and stemi (0:07). I use the following calculation AT_ST: DateDiff("n",[arrived],[stemi]) which resulted in -1409. So my research showed me I had a problem with the date whenever the time went past midnight and trying to calculate a zero hour number. I changed my calculation to
AT_ST: IIf([stemi]>=#11:59:00 PM#,(DateDiff("n",[arrived],[stemi])),(DateDiff("n",[arrived],[stemi]+1440) Mod 1440))
This works fine and gives me the result of 31 minutes which is what I want, however the problems comes in when I change to this calculation any where there was a negative time now has a 1400+ plus value. Such as arrived (7:37) and 1st_eck (7:18) = 1426 where as before it would report -14 (yes, negatives are acceptable for my reporting because sometimes a call to the hospital is placed before the patient arrives so we want to report on the negative splits). I've tried using a nested IIF to calculate for stemi time being less than arrived time, this didn't work when I tried to use it on the calculated query field. I was wondering if I could write something to check the value of the calculated field if it is greater than 1440 and if yes - subtract 1440 from it. So in the example above 1426-1440 = -14. Is it possible to do this within the query or do I need to do it using VBA

I'm trying to get my "IncidentDate" field to autopopulate two other date fields to a few days from the "IncidentDate". The other two date fields are "ContainDueDate" and "RootDueDate". I'm trying to accomplish this on my "Test CAP Form"
I tried using the following in the BeforeUpdate of "ContainDueDate" and received a complier error: expected =
Code : DateAdd(d,2,[IncidentDate])
so I removed the parenthesis and nothing happened
Code : DateAdd d,2,[IncidentDate]
I even tried redoing it in the AfterUpdate of "IncidentDate" and nothing happened either
Code : DateAdd d,2,[ContainDueDate]
I'm not sure if I'm even using the right function to get what I want.

I have created a date field in format of "d/m/yyyy". However, when I perform the Query statement to delete the record, I found that if the day part under 12 the Query statement recognize it as m/d/yyyy, but if the day part over 12 the Query statement can automatic recognize it as d/m/yyyy. I want to know how to overcome this problem. !!!!!!!!

Then I plan on creating an append queary to extract the same fields on a weekly basis. I want to keep track of the datasets that i extract weekly. Hello.
I have a query that is pulling data based on a date in a table. For some records, that date field is empty. For those records, the data should be pulled based on the date of 1/1/06. I tried doing this
=IIf([Signed SLA Received] Is Null,1/1/06,>=[Signed SLA Received])
It doesn't like this at all, it brings back no data. I also tried putting 1/1/06 in quotes, but it didn't make any difference.
This is probably a totally incorrect way to get this done, but I don't know how else to try it.
Thanks!

I have created a table called - "Test"
The properties of the table is listed below
Table Name: Test
Field Name: ADMDAT2 (Text)
DISDAT2 (Text)
Operation Date (Date/Time)
I have written a query to populate a field where the Operation Date is between the ADMDAT2 and DISDAT2
Expr1: IIf([ADMDAT2] Is Null,"",IIf([Operation Date]>=[ADMDAT2] And [Operation Date]<=[DISDAT2],"Match"))
Unfornately it returns and ERROR message... I believe this may be because, the data type of the field, matching a Text with a Date/Time, I have rerun the query using a sample table where all the fields are Date/Time, and it work perfectly.
What i need help with how do i convert a text field into a Date/Time in a query?
So i can place that in the query before i populate the Test table. therefore it all should be date/time
thanks in advance

I have a date picker field in my form that is used as part of a criteria in a query. I also add it as a result field in the query being that it is appending data to a table. But when the query runs it puts weird characters into the query field with expression.
The Expression is as follows:
BillWk: [Forms]![Invoice Form]![WkEnd]
My Criteria is:
Between [Forms]![Invoice Form]![WkEnd] And [Forms]![Invoice Form]![WkEnd]-6
The Criteria works but the expression does not.
I have attached a png of the field.

I've inherited a database into which the user (not me) is entering essentially the same Date data twice: field 1 contains 6/19/2014 and for field 2 they enter June-14 (the month and year from field 1).
I suspect there should be a way to derive and then reformat the display of field 2 based on the contents of field 1, such that the user only has to enter the first. Is this true? If so, how?
(I know there really is no need for the 2nd field, but existing reports and queries are built around it -- so for right now, I'm just trying to eliminate the duplicate data entry)...

Hello all
I am using Access as a front end (GUI) with a SQL 2005 database and have several linked tables. An user encountered an odd error that I cannot figure out.
He created a query that had criteria on a date. When he tries to run it the query will not do anything. If he closes out of the query and does any other operation he gets the "This Action will reset the current code in break mode." error and will have to close out access before he can do anything else.
I'm found some strange work-arounds but want to fix the problem the correct way. Attached are two examples - the first one causes the error the second one is the work-around that returns the desired results.
Any ideas?

I have simple crosstab query that I use to pull data about how many products is selled in one day/week/month and so on. On entry form I have two critical date fields, Starting/Ending date. It all works perfect except when I put indetical values in both those fields.
For example I have sold over 100 items on 4th of february 2015. year. So, in Starting/Ending date field of entry form, I put value from 04/02/2015 to 04/02/2015 in order to see how much items was selled that day.
This is the error I receive:
Quote:
An error was encountered
Description: The Microsoft Office Access database engine does not recognize '' as a valid field name or expression.

What am I doing wrong?
