I hit ok and the usual invoice_id param text box message box appears again.
Once that is over, I gain access. I can browse to the form - frm_system, open the sub-form sub_frm_invoices and remove the invoice_id field. Once I re-add it everything works fine (until I close the application).
I initially thought it was because the database was set to "compact on close" but I disabled that and it is still occuring .
I know this is the cause but as the sub-form itself uses a table record-source I know the field exists - not to mention I can simply delete and re-add it to fix it temporarily.
This behavior occurs when a field, a criteria, an expression, or a control in a query, a form, or a report references a name that Access cannot find. For example, a name could be misspelled or a field may not be available within that scope.
Basically it looks like the textbox displaying the invoice_id on the form is the problem. I can't figure out why though. When I remove it everything works - the queries work if I recreate it as well..
DB = ResolvedDateReport Linked Tables to CSv File = tbl_ResolvedDateReport CSV files holds the two new fields called. Owner and Owner Name
What do I need to do to if the fields are blank to uplaod the data into the DB.
Have tried multi times and have failed.
Incident ID+ is the primary key field.
Here is my attempt for one field !!
UPDATE ResolvedDateReport RIGHT JOIN tbl_ResolvedDateReport ON ResolvedDateReport.[Incident ID+] = tbl_ResolvedDateReport.[Incident ID+] SET tbl_ResolvedDateReport.Owner = [ResolvedDateReport].[Owner];
Then I can update my pivot tables from Access to show the new fields with data.
I have an Access 2010 db on a shared network drive. All users accessing the db are running Windows 7 OS and have a licensed corporate version of Access 2010. The advanced options "Shared", "Edited record" and "Open dabases by using record-level locking" are turned on. Additionally, the locking time limits are set to their default levels. If a user selects the save icon after making additions or updates, the following waring message appears:
Costar Job Database can't save design changes or save to a new database object because another user has the file open. To save you design changes or to save to a new object, you must have exclusive access to the file.Since I developed the db, I am the only one that makes design or object changes. I know that users don't need to select the save icon to update the db, but I don't want them to "freak out" if they select save and see the message. Is there any way to prevent the message from being displayed?
I run several databases daily - after running two of them (at different times), the database itself closes but the Access program stays open. In order to close that program, I have to close it out using the Task Manager.
Any suggested solutions? Thanks (as always) for your assistance.
What would cause Access to suddenly close without warning while busy with a query?
No error messages, nothing! The query is a fairly big one that normally takes about 6 minutes to run, but has had no problem with it for a number of years. A new drive used for back-up purposes was recently fitted to my PC which now has 3 internal hard drives.
Could this problem be caused by a bad memory handling configuration? The original setup that worked before may have been changed when the new drive was installed. The XP Page File size for example may have been changed.

I am trying to find an average of four fields in either a form or query. Basically I have figures for [Grade 1], [Grade 2] but [Grade 3] is an empty field. I need to include all three field because there are sometimes 3 grades, but a majority are 2 grades. How to do so?
I have an access2000 db. Many tables, forms, reps ect... at random times it will just close. Don't know why. No errors, no reason why. It just closes. Is this common and is there any fix?
I was trying to access this particular MS-ACCESS file which serves as a DB for a software. But the file opens and closes in a split of a second and was impossible to view its structure. I beleive it's made to respond so by the programmers in order to hide the content. Can anyone please help me open this file? PLEASE...
I have an application that when in design master shuts down when I attempt to open a certain form. I have traced the problem to a linked field from another table, by creating a new form and ommitting the said field, problem is its a required field!
If I copy the database (Backup) and run it as a replica it does not happen, if I then convert the replica to design master it happens.
I am having a problem running Access 2007 runtime on a workstation. I have set up the 2007 database (.accdb) on our server and am able to connect to it and open it from the pc that has Access 2007 full version installed and it works fine.
I also installed Access 2007 runtime on another PC and was able to open the database using the runtime version just fine.
However, on this other PC, I installed the runtime version, and when I use the command line (msaccess.exe /runtime \serverdirectorydatabase.accdb) to open the database in runtime mode, Access opens for a split second and then closes immediately.
When I just run msaccess.exe, it opens the runtime version and says that I have not specified a database, as expected. So, I am wondering why it is not opening the database when i DO specifiy the database.
If i specify an incorrect directory for the database, it opens the runtime version and a dialog appears telling me that a database was not found, and upon clicking OK, the program closes.
I can say, that when I run it off the computer that works through the runtime version, I get a security warning telling me that there are potentially unsafe elements in the database, but i just have to click OPEN and it still opens it fine.
Perhaps the non-working PC is denying it access due to these security issues?
I can't seem to figure this out, and any help is appreciated.
I have a questions database. When user is filling out the form, the following fields are required: Questions, Author, Type of Question and Answer selected. Answer is selected by clicking on the button next to the Answers. If these fields are not filled out, a user gets a prompt saying that so and so field is blank. If have a problem, it works for all required fields except for Answer. Below is my code. I have attached a screenshot with Author and Answers blank. I only get a warning about the Author and not the Answers.
Code: Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) nullerr = 0 strnull = "" If IsNull(Me.txtQuestion) Then nullerr = 1
Access database 2007: I have a database with some forms init but when i type my username and password to open the main menu to insert data the form shows 1 second and closes the whole database. I don't know whether the problem is the VB code or the microsoft.
Is it possible to set events for the buttons on a message box? For example if I create a Message Box when someone clicks on a button, and set it to vbYesNo, can I then create an open form event on the yes button, and a close acform event on the no button.
I currently have an unbound form I am using as a switchboard. When a button is pressed it loads a form asking for the user to enter their password (the swtichboard is then closed). If the correct password is entered the form opens to their details, when that form is closed, the swtichboard re-opens. I want an action that if the correct password is not used, then a msgbox lets them know and then the Switchboard they were at re-opens. So far I have the following code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) If Me.Recordset.RecordCount = 0 Then MsgBox "Incorrect Password!" Cancel = True End If End Sub
This works well, but I am unsure how to write that after the msgbox I want the Switchboard to open. I tried to add "DoCmd.OpenForm frmSwitchMain" in various places, but I am unsure on the proper procedure to do this.
I am having some problems, I tryed a msgbox with only ok and if I would like to save the record I see now needs to be a yes/no buttons, so I changed the ok to yes/no and it saves the changes no matter what. so i will need a If statement correct, but what do I put in it?? The Same thing is happending with my ok/cancel buttons. Thanks
Am using a number of combo boxes as selection criteria for a report. The combo boxes are linked to a table, obviously there will be times when no criteria is required and will want to select "ALL" when left blank.
And other time it wont work with On change but only with After Update Event (code is same).
Another thing this morning happens was that when I tried to add new record trough form where combo box and tex boxes are located, MS Office suddenly stopped working after selecting combo box selection (with message Microsoft Office has Stopped Working). It is 2013 version.
I got it work after deleting and re-inserting VBA code to autopopulate text box at After Update Event.
Is there a way to run code to see if a query is open? Then if the query is open, program the database to close it and re-run it?
I have a query that is based on a field on my form. It runs fine the first time. However, if the user leaves the query open and goes back to the form, makes a new selection, and clicks the button to open the query, the query doesn't refresh. The user either has to close the query and re-run it or press the Refresh All button. I need a way for the query to refresh automatically if it is open already or not. The only other alternative I can think of is to program the database to close the query and re-open it. I tried using QueryName.Requery and QueryName.Refresh but in both cases, it tells me that an object is required and I don't know what it wants. I also tried setting the query definitions using VB, but the query is apparently too long because no matter what I do, I can't get it on one line and Access doesn't seem to like it if the query takes up two lines.
I have a form that allows users to search the database for records based on there criteria. The form allows the user to search, through combo boxes, by variables. The first is MAT, the second is Relocation Area. The search works fine when the user selects options form the combo boxes. However sometimes it is neccesary to leave the location field blank and only search by MAT. When the location combo box is left blank no records are found. Is there anyway around this. The SQL code for the query is below:
SELECT [Extract Data].[ID], [Extract Data].AREA, [Extract Data].[MAT], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 1], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 2], [Extract Data].[Relocation Area 3], [Extract Data].[Grade Score] FROM [Extract Data] WHERE ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 1])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea)) Or ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>Forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 2])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea)) Or ((([Extract Data].[MAT])>>Forms![Data Search]!SearchMAT) And (([Extract Data].[Relocation Area 3])=Forms![Data Search]!SearchArea));
