basically i'll have one table, containing several fields. name/website/date.i want to create a form/s for users to use. 1 is to allow the user to create a new record. i've completed this ok

the second form is to allow users to open a form, enter/select data and run this.....and the output goes to a report.i've created the query ok.....however, when i create a form to "link" to the query open the form, it shows all my records in table i.e. i can move through the records (from bottom of form) and when i actually fill in the form it actually modifies the data in the table.

I'm trying to populate a field in my form from a query. I've been trying to figure it out from the web but can't get it sorted. I've got a combo box that selects a member of staff from a table, and then a query runs which takes the value from that combo to retrieve the staffs current rate of pay.

I've added this code to the on change event on the combo.

Private Sub cboStaffID_Change()
Me.txtunit.Value = [qrycurrentpay]![Unit]
End Sub

But it doesn't seem to work,

txtunit is the field I want to fill on my form, and Unit is he field name of the value I want from query qrycurrentpay.

I am trying to calculate the keystage and year group of pupils on my database. I have created queries that successfully calculate the data, but I cant work out how to add the results from my queries into an already created form. I thought I could use DLookup, but this just populates with a random value from the data and not the value for that particular pupil.

I have a form set up (in a list box) to show our salespeople what parts they have yet to get out of inventory but have a sales order for. The list box shows a list of all the salespeoples names. My manager wants me to show ONLY the salespeople that have populated fields in this list box. The list box currently shows all the salespeople, but I want to see only the ones that have inventory that has yet to shipped. How do I go about this?

What really is the best way, programming-wise and user experience-wise when presenting records in a form:

1) Use the form with sub-forms to show records. Add new records via a popup form and use recordsets in VBA to allow validating.

2) Use unbound controls on a form and populate with pure VBA recordsets. For data with more than one row use list boxes. A popup form used for adding new or editing etc using VBA.

3) Another I haven't thought of; new or a combination of above?

I am new to access and have been staring at the same Run-time error for 3 days (pathetic I know). I cannot for the life of me figure out why it does not like my Dlookup. Esentially, I want and After Update event in my combo box to populate a Rich text textbox in my form. After reading DLookup is the easiest way to make this happen. Here is my code:

Me.emailbody.Value = DLookup("[Escalation_1]", "Status_Emails", "Status_Emails.Status =" & (cboStatus.Value))

My error reads: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Status_Emails.Status = LOCATION NEED MORE INFO'.

LOCATION NEED MORE INFO is the value in my criteria cbostatus.value.

I have a main screen that has a tabbed form in it. Each of those tabs has a sub-form in it that displays information and allows some information to be updated.

In one tab I have a query based sub-form that returns information related to the project. This information cannot be manipulated or changed as it comes out of a company managed database. I would like the analysts to be able to add more granular information to a new table by inputting information in a dropdown field for one of the new table fields, but utilizing two of the existing sub-forms fields as identifiers in the new table.

I need your guidance to do the following;

On a click of a button from the Form the following should execute.
I have created 50 queries. Each query has more than 1000 recordsets.

1. I want to count the number of rows for each query (50 queries = 50 different values)
2. create one table and populate those 50 different values into the table
3. Using those values in the table; a Stack column chart has to be created.

In simple explanation; on a click of a button the data should be processed and chart has to be created.

Just a tip will also do to try on my side.

Forms :: Access 2007 / Summing Columns To Populate A Form?

Im working in Access 2007.

So i have query based on 1 table that populates a Form. The primary key for that table is Entity ID. Therefore once the query has been run I have multiple records that i can scroll through in my form distiguished by their Entity ID.

I have a second table that has a Entity ID column, AFE Available column, and many others. The primary key for this table is called Match ID. This table contains records that have the same Entity ID.

My goal is to display on the form the Sum of the "AFE Availible" for each Entity ID. so as you scroll through the records the Entity ID is changing and you are able to see a the Specific "AFE Availible" Sum related to the current Record showing on the form.

I couldn't figure out a way to have a query based off both tables where the records are only uniquely defined by the Entity ID in Budget Info. What was happening is the query was displaying all the records that had the same Entity ID because of the AFE Spent table. That way when you scroll through the records the form shoes records with the same entity id.

Maybe im doing it all wrong and you dont need the tables attached to the same query. That would make it easier i think. So you would have two queries populating different text boxes on a form. Is that even possible?

I have a form that I have exported certain fields into a word doc (it is up and running just fine). I created bookmarks in word and put some VBA into my access form, so when I click on 'Create word report' it pops up and automatically populates the record I am on. Here is the tough question,

How to make this work with a continuous form? My main form has several subforms, one being a continuous form. The main form shows one bridge at a time. The sub continuous form shows information for all of the bridges spans (could be anywhere from 1 to 9).

How To Populate A Form Using Query Result

I have created a search query that allow users to search existed record in database. The query work completely fine, and it gives me the data that I want when I fill in my criteria. However, the query result is not showed in a form, but show in a query window. The form is like that

Company (drop down with a list of company)

Employee (drop down with a list of employee)
Program (drop down with a list of program)
Others (some other fields)
...
Go Query (a button)

How do I pass the query result into a form that I made? So the users can edit and update the record.

1. I have a table which lists all of the equipment we use in our company and would like to use it as a template in a form so that users can select a checkmark if the equipment is being used that day. The checked items would then be used to populate another table which records all of the equipment the user has selected. I thought the checkmark method would be best so that the user can scroll through the list of equipment and select multiple pieces for the day. The reason I don't use a multi-value field is so that the user can also enter quantity and hours of equipment used in the same table when they scroll through the list.

2. Once all of the equipment pieces have been checked, I would like the user to be able to click a review button which would navigate to the next form with all of the selections for the day. This new form will have the option to go back to the first form if any corrections need to be made. And also have the option to submit the results.

3. Once the user is finished with their selections, the user can then select Submit which will finalize the recorded equipment table and clear the checkboxes and any inputs from the equipment template table (without modifying anything) so that it can be used for the next day and so forth.

I am using access 2013...

I'm working on a system where I have produced a unique order number (concatinated from other fields) which is to be given to a wholesaler when an engineer is on the road and has to purchase goods 'on account'.

How do I now use this number in reverse to to populate a report with all the relevant values.

Background :- I am referencing the following tables and using a date/day value

tblClient (via tblSite)
tblSite
tblEngineer
tblJob

I'm guessing that I have to use known fixed string lengths then split them off into the relevant sub strings but is it then possible to plug these values into a query?

In one of the forms for this database, there is a field where a distribution statement can be added manually, if the statement is received from a customer. However, we would like to add a "check-box" to the form, where is it is checked, the distribution statement automatically populates with a previously used generic distribution statement.

So I've created 3 tables - one for each information group arranged like so. However my problems are - I don't know how to make it so that as soon as all the info for one set of parts is filled another set automatically appears? And in the Design section of the Form I have the following error because I wasn't too sure what to use apart from a text box-

I have made a form on access which will be used by other employees within the company, however they have never used access before and they are wanting to access only just the form as I feel with Access and all the tools in the background will confuse them, plus I don't want them editing the data base its self.

Is there a way to only bring up the form, unless I obviously need to edit the date base.

I've done some research on Google and it seems I need to use:

SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE

However I can not seem to find how I would use this or where?

and also if i did find a way to only bring up the form, how would I be able to switch it from that veiw to the veiw I edit in?

I have Field "BC1Chng" which requires user input. I want to be able to write a code to reference to "BC1Chng" if there is an input in that field for any record...I want to copy the Remarks into each record in the Remarks Field.

I was able to get the remarks1 field to loop through each record copying what was in that field into each record.

Now I want it to look at the BC1CHng field and only copy to remarks1 field if there is any input in that field???

I need to populate a table with Grid reference values consisting of 6 figure integers, eastings and northings.

I am receiving/downloading the Grid Refs in a UK Grid Tile format, with 3, 4 or 5 figures preceded by letters.

E.g. SK 456 849, SP 6789 4356.

I have used some query functions and written a bit of VBA behind a form to convert the received coordinates into the full coords I want. The coordinates are now in unbound controls on a form, and I want to pass these back to a table so I can use the data for display purposes.

Ideally I want to link to the table from a GIS and autoupdate without having to open the database (my imported data is linked in to feed the database automatically).

I have done some searching and not found a method to pass the values into a table - What is my best way of doing this automatically?

I have a table holding a list of post codes, and their servicing depot EG -

ID Postcode Depot
1 AB10 Edinburgh
2 AB11 Edinburgh

Then a form, which has a field for depot ( Fld_Depot )

What i would like is, when the user clicks on the field, a msg box prompts, asking for them to input a postcode

Once the postcode is entered, it populates that field with the relevant depot from the table....

I have a select query that holds anywhere between 1 to a couple hundred records, I need to take the Name field and populate a textbox which after verification I write to a text file that I later use in a powershell script. So far have tried using VBA to create a variable and populate the textbox based on the string but it only provides me the first item, I've tried dmax and this gives me a single result last Item, Dlookup only gives me the first item, changed it to a listbox which populates the box correctly but only writes the selected item in to my text file.
