General :: Access Automatically Saving A Copy Of The Database
Nov 6, 2013
I have created an MS Access 2007 for a user. When the user uses the database, it automatically saves a copy of the database. Why is this happening? I did create for the database to compact/repair each time to user closes the database. ... However, when I open/close the database, there are not new copies of the database.
I just created a database and need to connect it to the data source. The data comes from a http website (intranet from work). When I open the link using firefox, I can view the website with the data in it, but when I open it from Internet Explorer, I get a save as pop-up message to save a csv file which contains all the data. The extension of the http website ends with csv. So it is something like http (slash slash...) Intranetname/referral_dbase.csv
Currently, I am opening the file using firefox, copying all the data manually, and pasting it in a text file using notepad. After that, I import the file into access. The delimiter of the data is this symbol: |
I am trying to find a way to link my database to the website where the data is located so that I can skip the manual process of opening the website and copying the data and saving it into a text file and then importing that file into access. I was thinking to have like a form in access with a bottom that will automatically import that data from this link and paste it into a table in access using the delimiter symbol mentioned above.
Is this too complicated? Is it even possible in access 2010?
I need a way of saving a copy of an email in Access. I am using Outlook for an email client. I have heard I can create a command or procedure in Outlook that will open a window (combo box?) with case numbers linked to an existing Access database. By selecting the case number a copy of the opened email will be created that can later be accessed (no pun intended) through Access. Is this possible?
I have built an Access 2010 split database on my computer and it functions as built. My next step was to copy it to the server at work and test it. I discovered the tables had to be re-linked and so did that. As I have read in the Access World Forums in order to function as a multi-user database a copy of the front end must be placed on the individual workstation with the back end residing on the server, however the hyperlinks in the back end will not function when the copy on the workstation is run. I simply get an unable to open "filename" error pop-up. I can run the server copy and everything functions as built. I know that the hyperlinks require all the files to be in the same folder (relative vs. absolute), but if the back end contains all the hyperlinks why does the location of the front end seem to affect the operation of the back end?
I'd like to have a button on my dashboard that gives the user the ability to back up the database and save it with a different date. For example, existing database called "Fishing.accdb" and I'd like to have code behind a button that allows the database to be saved as "Fishing0711.accdb"
I'm trying to avoid the user having to go into the File Save as menu system....I've tried the docmd.copyObject method but can't get it to work
I'd like to be able to show recruiters the database as an example of my work (to get an interview, etc.). Of course, I can't just show them a copy of the database with all of the private information on it, so I'd like to be able to show them a copy of the database with no records. Is there a way to export/copy it so I can do this in Access 2007?
I pasted the tables, modules, macros, etc. from one database to another and the only thing left is the Saved Import. How can I get that into another database? It is quite a large import, otherwise i would just recreate it.
For a project I am currently working on, I have to save the database I am producing onto a CD. The file works as it should when saved on to my computer and a USB but on the CD some of the forms do not work and a number of the VBA Sub-routines I have created are not functioning. When i say the forms are not working, I mean they can be opened in design view but not in form view.
I have tried coping the file a number of different ways, just using windows and Nero.
I have data in all sorts of tables and databases that are linked together through different systems. I'd like to update some of the information automatically in the evenings or in the middle of the night without needing someone to push a button. Is there a way to do this?
I want to create a database that keeps track of contributions of members of an association. Every member can voluntarily give a standing order to contribute a fixed amount every month. A member can as well decide to review his/her contribute.
how I can come up with a database that can automatically add the contribution of a member monthly without manual input since the stated contribution is known. So that I can run a report for individual member and the report can capture the every monthly contribution that has been added automatically and shows when ever a member changes his/her contribution amount.
I have an option button for a field [Fully Paid] (Yes/No) in my LoanT and i want to know if it's possible for my database to automatically choose an option depending on a calculated field
(Calculated field from another query) = [Outstanding Balance]
Say... if [outstanding balance] is = 0 or negative (refundable), then Yes should be On, if not it should remain No/off so that i wouldn't have to go over every record and manually choose the option
The option button is very useful when i want to display loans which are Paid and/or still active. How do I go about this?
I have a database that has a main form, and from that main form there are buttons that open their respected forms. I am curious as to how I control the size of all of my forms. They are all pop-ups at the moment. It all works fine on my monitor, but when opened on a smaller monitor it is too big and I can't even see the bottom of the screen. The main form is set to open automatically after the user logs into the database and it opens to fit the screen. also, all of my forms are modals.
We recently switched over to A2003. As far as my db everything went ok except for one thing.
I have a continuous form that we enter data into. When you open a new record the form only displays one empty row. Because we enter tons of rows that come from an AS400 system I made a button on the top of the form that switches from continuous form view to datasheet view.
Private Sub Label59_Click() Me.[Part #].SetFocus DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSubformDatasheet End Sub
Within datasheet view I am able to paste many rows at once. However, after the change to A2003 it still "appears" to work. Many rows are pasted in but if you exit the db and come back to the record all of the data is lost and you are back to one blank row in continuous form view.
When a record is added to the continuous form each record is assigned an autonumber primary key. I think that this is where it is failing. Within Access help is the following under "Cutting And Copying Data", "Copy or move records or data from multiple fields to a datasheet": To paste the data as new records at the end of the datasheet, click Paste Append on the Edit menu.
I think this is what I need to do but I don't allow my users access to any menus so I create command buttons or auto running code in place of menu items that they need.
Can anyone think of some code to run a Paste Append of these records or of any other method in which I might restore the multiple paste funtionality I had with A2K?
I have MSAccess 2003 running on WindowsXP. I have multiple users sharing a single database. When more than one user opens the same database, a copy of the database is being created?? I don't know if this is a standard trait of Acccess or something else. Any explinations would be helpfull.
I have one problem with subforms. I have one bound main form and two bound subforms: one subform is used to display existing records in datasheet view while another is used to enter new records in form view, but this latter subform for new records will not save automatically, nor will it save by using the me.refresh or me.dirty=true in the unload event of the subform control. The parent child relationship is intact. I can even see the primary key of the new row in the subform but it does not appear in the table that the subform is based on. This primary key adds by one automatically.
I have struggled and finally made work a combo box in the main form that finds existing records but also is able to add new records when the value entered is not on the list. Below is the code I used. I am not sure if this code is overriding Access's save ability of the subform?
Private Sub Combo316_AfterUpdate() Dim n As String gblvariable = cbobox Me.Requery
I have done 5 videos (total running time -about half an hour) demonstrating how to add a checklist to MS Access. Here is a link to a YouTube Play List of the 5 Videos..Automatically add a Checklist to MS Access
Hi, I was wondering if there was a way for a report to be automatically saved as an excel file. Also, the Access database is stored on the company's server so would you be able to choose the path where the excel file would be stored?
I am relatively new to Access and I was wondering if there is a way to automatically respond to delete table prompts when running a macro.
Currently I am running a macro that takes about 2 hours, and sporatically asks 'are you sure you want to delete table x'. I have to check on it every 10min or so to respond 'yes' or it will pause the macro. Quite a hassle if I am busy with other tasks and forget to check it.
As I am having difficulty keeping my database at work digitally signed due to other users using the database; I was curious if I could create a batch file to automatically run at night to sign the database, so that it can automatically update in the AM, without being prompted questions. Or something of this sort?
I have an access 2007 database that is split front end and back end. There are about 15 users and the backend is stored on the network. Currently I am e-mailing out the FE when chagnes are made so they have the latest copy.
With everything I have read I think a bat file would work the best at allowing me to make changes on demand without having to continually email out new versions of the FE. Sometimes the changes are behind the scenes unnoticable to the user while others are obvious.
Questions: Exactly HOW does a bat file work? When the user clicks on the access file stored on their laptop? Where is the bat file stored? I am unfamiliar with where to write the bat file code as well - notepad perhaps?
I am not sure how to create a bat file and what the code should be?
For version tracking I need to put a version table in the BE and in the front end correct?
have made a few significant changes but I'm holding out e-mailing it if I can get this version copying figured out and in place first.
Please forgive me if this has already been explained...but I've searched and searched and haven't found anything like it...
I have a form which contains a command button to open another form which is attached to a subdatasheet in Microsoft Access 2002. When I click on the button to open the sub form, I would like for it to automatically copy the contents of a text box on the original form to a text box on the sub form.
I would also like to automatically attach on the server to this email. Such a file stored such as servernamesharefilename.pdf. Is it possible to do this?
