I have created a database, with various forms, modules and tables. Cos this is to be used where I work I have created an ACCDE version. I can't get the original version to open so that I can make changes.
View RepliesI have a working database which runs fine in accdb mode. But when i compile it and run the accde file I get the error "The expression you entered has a function name that XXDB nameXX cant' find."The problem is that the autoexec macro cannot find the VBA public function that is called with runcode command.
The accde file is running in the same folder as the accdb. It is a split database, I am only working on the Front End..I have tried, amongst others:
- Creating a new vba module and copying all the functions across
- Renaming the target function
- I reckoned there was a corruption somewhere, so I created a blank database and imported all the form/code/etc across from the broken version, which imported fine. The accdb ran but the compiled version failed again
If I need to take the backend of my database offline for changes, what's the best/easiest way to inform the users? Is there some code I can drop into the front end? I'm thinking a "on database open, if [available] in tblClose equals no, then open frmDatabaseOffLine". But I don't know a) if that's possible or b) how to program it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedTwice a year, a database of mine is accessed and put too use by various staff within a time range of 1 week. the database is on a shared drive and in a location which can be accessed by all.
The staff access the database from different workstations and in some instances at the same time.
This has only led to issues in the database being copied and then confusing staff on what database to click on thus i have 2 databases which i then have to sift through and copy/paste into the correct one.
I want to know the best way i can:
1) Prevent multiple users accessing the database at a time.
2) making a copy of the original and typing into a separate database.
I do not see the Make ACCDE button. I'm using Access 2010 32 bit. Have an ACCDB FE file which I'm trying to create the ACCDE. I've compiled and fixed the VB errors. I've review trusted sources and insured the folders are trusted. For whatever reason, the button is not showing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Access 2007 mydb.accdb file. If I click on it, it starts up fine. If I click on it again, then focus goes to the already open db.
If I do the same but with the .accde of the same db, for each click a new instance opens. This is not good, in that a single user then can have multiple instances running without noticing it, and that might mess things up. What Windows setting to use, to convince Win XP that only one instance of mydb.accde should run, similar to the .accdb?
I have a split Database into Back-End and Front-End. I want to hide the Access Customize Option in my Front-End. I have tried to make the Database ACCDE but the option still appears to Customize the Access Database.

Trying to lock down an application by saving as ACCDE file. Saves OK but when you load application none of the controls work. I.e. button clicks do not launch "Open Form" or " Print Report" commands.But in ACCDB format application works flawlessly.
When I tried on a different machine I get an error message that says too many Table IDs. Odd since I only have 3 forms, 3 tables and 3 reports. Lots of DoCmd's and switching between the 3 forms but not sure why this would create "too many Table IDs"?
I've Saved an Access 2010 File as an .accde version that opens Ok however none of the buttons (eg; delete record, go to first record, next record) that I placed on the form work at all (the standard record selectors at the bottom of the form still work). All the buttons work fine in the .accdb version - only the .accde version that doesnt work...

It is working fine as long as I am using it from my computer, but when I go to the other computer and try to open the front end, it gives the message of Unrecognized format error. This problem is only with the accde file, all other files are opening except this.

Everything is the same but when I try to use the command buttons on the form it give me "no record found" error, even though there are records in the database. I know that the Error message is the one that is writin in the database by the orginal designer, I can't quite figure out how to fix the problem I think that it has something to do with the VB coding in the comand button, becuase of the type error message that I am geting, but I don't know how to do it. I can't post the database becuase it is way to big. Everything else is working fine. What hte command button is supposed to do is update a total score percentage based off the numbers that placed in the database also any of the score can be left blank as to not count, max for each score is 5 min is zero, i.e.score1=3score2=5score3=5score4=score5=4score6=3Total Score =80.00%I hope that this makes sence.J
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, Let's say I go into File->Database Properties from the "main" Access screen. This brings up a window with the title "<database name> Properties" where <database name> is the same as currentproject.name.
This window has several tabs including "Summary" and "Custom." It looks like this should be stuff that I can set and then reference from within my code.
My thought is that I can use the "Title" from the "Summary" screen as a variable for all of my msgbox titles. The other interesting one is "Project" on the "Custom" tab. It looks like this may be the same sort of thing.
I've found that the Access Help is absolutely useless - I'm about ready to take a shotgun to "Clippy." But as they say, a display is a terrible thing to waste <grin>. I've also found that it's getting harder and harder to find what I'm looking for in the MSDN library. There's so much stuff and they don't always file it in logical places.

I have an application that I run in our business.
Everytime I make changes to the code I have to export all the tables from the original into the latest version of the database with the new code.
This is a pain and makes updates time consumming and prone to error.
Is the soloution to have 2 databases. One with the tables and the other with the code (forms), & reports ect
If so, how do I access tables in the 'tables' database from the 'front end' database??

I have a client database which is linked to website is there is anyway that the database can be linked remotely.
eg if one of the company staff is on the road and want to access the database to view and see what kind of info has been stored in there.
So that they can access the database remotely once its on the server.
How do you make it possible for this to happen or is there some VB programming need to be done to make this possible

I have a database of books that contains all the informations about the books in a library, and ofcourse the forms for accessing the database ie searching adding editing and all this, is it possible in access to make a restriction so that only the administrator can edit or add to the database and the other users can only search for books and print reports
I know the logic of creating a password table and a form with a username and a password which checks if the user can access and then open the corresponding form (using isvisible property for the edit and add botton)
but even if i did that the user in reality can see the tables and the forms of the database and can change them directly
please if anyone has an idea??????

From an Access Project database would like to run reports setup in another database, which contains some custom reports. I would like to go directly to the report preview not just open the second database. Can someone help me with how I would be able to accomplish this? I have tried using a macro but have not been successful.

One branch of our non-profit organisation had a volunteer design a database in Access to track the usage of rented storage bins.The database works great for its intended purpose, however the volunteer is not available and the front-end is so locked down that I can't get into the table structure to run some usage queries I need for my own job, which is Resource Development (donations).
I don't know what to say to give more info, because the computer is a stand-alone in a different department detached from the network, so I have to physically go to the other end of the building & work in it, I can't get screencaps etc easily, and most of the menus have been disabled so it doesn't even give me the info about the version of Access etc.
How do I make an accdr file out of an accde file?
