My question is in Access 2010 I am currently in the property sheet at a combo list i just added to a form to be more precise with the data the user will look for. My question is I know I have to be in Control source in order for the combo box to select the data that I entered from the table. When i click the arrow the drop list is empty and then when I click the elipses (three dots) it takes me into expression builder, so i am confused on what I should do to select the field I want the combo box to focus on.

General :: Wizard Not Working When Adding Filter Buttons

I seem to be having a problem with access 2007

When I use the filter by form, filter by selection, and toggle filter buttons located on the ribbon, they work normally on my form, in the usual way.

However when I use the button wizard to add the various available filter buttons to my form, it adds the buttons with the correct graphics on - but in form view clicking on the buttons does not actually do anything.

I've tried running compact and repair but still the same.

To be more specific, immediately after an update and reconfiguration, the Property Sheet responds almost instantaneously; after a few days it can take several minutes to respond.

My property sheet has disappeared I don't know what I did. How can I make it reappears? I have try by pressing the SHFIT key but it won't work. Also, I have created a new database and open it, the property sheet isn't appeared. The icon are still there but when I press on it, it does not response.

Design View - Property Sheet Will Not Open

With a form in design view, I click on the DESIGN tab on the ribbon and then under TOOLS, I click on PROPERTY SHEET, whick opens on the form. Now I do that and nothing happens. It is the same with ADD EXISTING FIELDS. Neither one appears. Everything else seems to work ok.

I have recently split my DB and distributed the front ends to respective users. I dont know why for this particular user, the property sheet does not show up even though the the Property sheet button is clicked on the Ribbon bar. For others it seems all fine. This user runs on 2 monitors , but that should not be a problem I guess?

I am currently running 2010 version , and i have tried doing run>msaccess/safe which does not work.

How the user can customize reports or queries , or I can modify designs if I want to on his front end...

I have a table which has the fields: Agentname,SaleDate,Branch,Sales, Percentage, Comission, Corrections, rent and Total

Total = Sales-comission+Corrections+rent

This table has the name of the agent that made the sale, the branch(location) where he made it, the date, the commission of how much he gets from the sale, Corrections which is various correction that need to be made like a refund and or bonuses, Rent which he pays and the total.

what i want to do is to get access to make me a sheet( a sales invoice) where i can see the sales for a specific agent for a specific branch. agents can work at multiple branches.

so lets say agent A on branch A sold 400 on 1/8, 300 on 2/8 and 500 on 5/8 i want to get a list of all the days from 1/8 till 31/8 and the records of 1/8, 2/8 and 5/8 automatically attached to the correct dates and the rest of the dates should have a value of 0.

Forms :: Buttons To Display Information Stored In Excel Sheet

I would like to first state that I am new to Access and trying my best to pick up on skills, so pardon if my questions seemed redundant or illogical. I'm trying to create a sort of quick-access/all-in-one Access form that..

1) Displays contact details stored in an excel sheet
2) Opens application on click
3) etc..

I am able to get pointer 2 sorted out, however am having trouble with pointer 1.

I have the contact details stored in an excel sheet, of which I am aware of how to import it into Access. However, my idea was to have a tab where firstly there are 4 buttons, say buttonA to buttonD.

I want it to perform an action such that when i click buttonA, 5 other buttons (say button1 to button5) appear on the right of the 4 existing buttons.

If I press buttonB however, button6 to button10 will appear and replace the button1 to button5 at the same spot.

After which, if I press button1 etc, there will be a field where contact details are displayed (name/number/etc) and it switches as I press different buttons.

Order By Property Not Working

i have two forms - frmOne and frmTwo. frmOne opens frmTwo with this code:
intVar = Me!l_id
intRoom = Me!l_room
stDocName = "l_surveys"
stLinkCriteria = "[l_id]=" & "'" & intVar & "'"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria
on frmTwo i have the property for Order By set to "frmTwo.l_date DESC" but it never orders it by the date DESC....i've even tried to set it using VBA and i can't get it to work properly...

suggestions?

Updating Label Visible Property Not Working

i am running a query that takes few seconds to run but during that time i want my label to say "please wait'' so when the form loads i have it as:

lblstatus.visible=false

and when the user click on generate report that runs teh query i have as:

button_click starts
lblStatus.visible=true
button_click ends

but guess what, this doesnt work!! looks like the screen is not updated until the button_click processes, if i add a msgbox() after lblstatus.visible=true it shows but after the msgbox which i dont want. anyone know why?

Command Buttons Not Working

I have a form that contains a subform.

The subform is bound to a table.

The form is based on a query but still writes directly to the appropriate table.

In the header of the form I have a series of command buttons - new record, navigation buttons, and buttons to open new forms. None of them work at all.

I checked each button to be sure the On Click Events still had the right Event procedure, and they do.

for example, the command button to open the Cases form has the following VBA (generated form the button wizard.):

When clicked, the button just blinks - nothing happens. I check to be sure the form isn't a popup and also closed it after clicking it to see if maybe frmCases had opened behind the current form for some reason. Nothing - it's not opening at all.

Any ideas?

Forms :: Buttons Not Working?

I recently upgraded to Access 2007 from 2003. The upgrade was in June and went smoothly. I added a couple of drop down boxes to my form in August and that seemed to have gone fine as well. Suddenly, at least two weeks later, my form buttons are not working. I added the pathway to my database to the list of trusted locations. Everything I have read says this should work. This did not make a difference. I am able to edit forms, run queries and reports, and can add new records by entering data directly into tables but am not able to add new records, view details, close forms, or exit using my buttons/forms.

Multiple Toggle Buttons Working Together

Hi - I have another problem. I hope you can help me out on this one.

Right now, I have 3 toggle buttons to control the visibility of 3 subforms. However, I only want a single subform to show at any given time. So, if I were to select toggle 1 it should give me subform 1, and afterwards if I select toggle 2 it should give me subform 2 WITHOUT showing me toggle 1.

Is there anyway to get the toggle buttons to work with each other?

Modules & VBA :: Yes / No Buttons Not Working On Msgbox

I have a form I use to search for clients when I hit a command button, using surname etc. I'd like a yes no button to pop up rather than the clunky ok button route I currently have. I'm a beginner with VBA and most this I've gleaned from internet.

If there are matching results, everything is fine. If there are no matching results, I've managed to get my desired messagebox come up by using the code below in the onload event of the resulting search results form, however the yes no buttons do nothing and the results form loads blank as though no records were found.

I'd like Yes to send users to the client input form, and No to return them to the search form.

I have the following code which returns me the number of rows in an excel sheet:-

Lastrows = .Worksheets(1).Cells.Find(What:="*", SearchDirection:=2, SearchOrder:=1).Row

How do I mod the code to find the last 'used' row in the sheet?

The sheet is automatically generated daily, so I can't change anything in that area. It's always 2000 rows long and usually only has around 1100-1200 rows of data.

It's just that I do a for loop later on in my code for 1 to Lastrows and would like it as exact as I can.

Resetting The Visible Property On Fields

I have a couple of fields on my form (Resolution Type, Date Closed) that I want to display only if the Status field has Closed as its selection for each record. I initially set the Visible parameter of both the type and closed fields to False and I reset them to visible by checking for open/closed with an afterupdate event. This works great for the first record but...subsequent entries display those 2, regardless.

I know just enough regarding events to struggle my way through on some things but more advanced field, record level and form level events are beyond my experience level.

Can anybody offer any advice on how to get those two fields to toggle visible/invisible when scrolling through the records?

With that said, does anyone have a link to a post/website referencing this subject?

The project I am currently working on requires me to build a database for checking off if a certain person has submitted a time sheet for a certain date. I have a table for the dates that has the fields "date" and "Submitted time sheet?". The time sheet field is a checkbox.

I also have a table for employees with fields "employee last name", "employee first name" and "location".What I want to know is how to link each employee with the dates and whether or not they submitted a time sheet.

General :: Adding Photos To Data Sheet From Within The Form

I have created a DB to store my students records, eg: Student Number, English Name, Chinese Name, Birthdate, Class Number, Age, and exam scores, I also have a photo frame to display the students photo.

In the data sheet I have an ole object field where I add the photos, the thing is it means I need to manually add this to the data sheet, whereas I can add all the other details directly from the form "Add New Record" and also search, delete or edit all from the form.

I have searched and searched but I cannot find any info that accurately explains how I may add the photos to the c where I have placed a button "Add Photo". I assume I need to create a macro and assign it to the button (on click) then this would need to open a search file location box where I can find the photo and select it to be added to the file.

The point is I wish to be able to do all the adding, deleting and editing from within the form and not have to enter into the data sheet at all.

I am using Office 2010

General :: Multiple Users On Access Sheet Simultaneously

I recently made a database that we will use to allocate appointments between a team of up to 30 in 2 different sites. I have tested it with 10 people in the same site using it and have had no issues so far.

One of our managers wants to know whether it is likely to cause issues with network usage/congestion. When we introduce it to the other site. I told her it is unlikely, but went to our IT department for their opinion. I got a reply simply stating that Access is not intended for this sort of task, and is only designed to have a couple of people using it at a time.

I'd like a second opinion, because I don't think that answer is even close to correct. I'll describe briefly how it works and what our set up is.

The database has 2 tables, one that stores the details of the clients we call (7 fields), and another that logs each contact attempt (6 field) and ensures no 2 users get the same entry. I have split the database, with the backend saved on one of our networked drives, and the frontend will be distributed in an email. (at present it is just an unsplit database stored on a network drive, but I don't think this will work well when 2 different sites are using it).

I think data throughput will be minimal, but I don't know how I'd go about checking that. Would you expect any issues with this being used by 30 people simultaneously?

Queries :: Using Filter Property With Multi Valued Fields

I have a subform query which includes EventName, Date, and Tags. Tags is a multivalued field.

What I need to do is allow people to filter this subform using the inbuilt filter, and then use the filtered data to populate a graph.

I am doing this by taking the Filter property from the form and then using VBA to build an SQL statement with the right data, and using that on the graph. It works fine when people filter on the EventName and Date fields.

However, when someone filters the Tags field, it fails. The filter property gets set to something along the lines of

([Lookup_Tags].[TagName]="whatevertagtheypick")

This syntax seems not to be supported when I put it into the SQL statement.

General :: How To Add Combo Box Field To Data Sheet View In Form

I created a new field as a text box, converted it to Combo box, then the Values are pulled from a query and all that works fine.

I have a form that opens and displays these Fields in a Data Sheet view and the new Combo box doesn't drop down and is flagged as a text box in the property bar but no way to change it??

I need the drop down like the other Category field I have, that works but this one doesn't.

See screen shot.

You can see in the Category field, there is a Drop down, but in Category II there is not, even though this is a drop down field. - BUT in this data sheet view it doesn't show it as a drop down.
