General :: Adding Registry Key With Packaging Wizard
Nov 15, 2012
When using the runtime version, there is an issue with trusted locations. The only way around this, it seems is to edit (add) the registry key,My research tells me the key to be added is:
If I use the Packing Wizard with Access 2007 to prepare an installation disk, there is the option for Additional Registry Keys, which looks promising, however, I am unsure how to proceed. You are asked: Root, Key, Name and Value. There are 4 options for Root: Default root, Current user, All users, Classes root.
I am at the point were I want to package and distribute my application to other users. My application uses several .bmp files and other resources that I have stored in the OFFICE11 file because you have to reference the location of the objects in VBA Code where access can find it.
What I cant figure out is, how do I get the package wizard to install the resource files I include with my program to where I want them (OFFICE11) so if the user installs the database at a different location than the default location which is C:Program FilesApplicationNameI'mDistributing, the program will still run because the resource files can still be found by the program in the OFFICE11 file.
Make Sense?
A more advanced problem I am experiencing:
Is there a way to have a run time distributed application automatically find and repair it's link to the back end if the back end gets installed to a network instead of the default Local C: path?
Well, having a few problems. Can't find any post, maybe the problem is too new. I was experimenting with the "Developers Extensions" in my 2007 First, is it required to be an "accdb" format? Second, I was trying to package a split DB... putting the backend in the "add" files. Seemed to crash everytime I tried to start it after installing. Is it not possible to package a split DB? If it is... I would really like it to ask where to install the extra files.... eg...backend. I don't know ho to approach this......... any help would be appreciated! Thanks
I am using the Packaging Wizard of the MS Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions. I would like to change the Root Installation folder to a customer Folder. However, I am limited to the list given (Program Files, Documents & Settings, etc..). I even tried to see if I could change the INI files produced by the package, but could not find any reference to the root installation folder. Does anyone know how to change this, either through the wizard or manually.
I know I can have the user move the folder once the install is complete, but I do not with to do this.
When I use the filter by form, filter by selection, and toggle filter buttons located on the ribbon, they work normally on my form, in the usual way.
However when I use the button wizard to add the various available filter buttons to my form, it adds the buttons with the correct graphics on - but in form view clicking on the buttons does not actually do anything.
I've tried running compact and repair but still the same.
Hi I am using VBA for my coursework and I really need to package the programme. I have heard of the Package and Deployment Wizard, which is supposed to be in the add-ins section in the VBA, but for some reason I cannot find it. Please help with this, is there any way to make it work, or maybe any alternative.
I created *.mdb database and I used (user-level security wizard) to give each user a username and a password. The dB file is saved in D: drive. The security wizard created a shortcut on the desktop to open the dB through it. After using that wizard I cannot open the database directly from drive D:.If I try to open it , it says"You don't have necessary permissions to use the database".Now, there are many users should use this db through the network.
I am having some problem regarding the way the options in a lookup field is displayed. Currently the options are displayed numerically instead of displaying the actual text.
I have three tables which are ContactPersonnelT, OrganizationT and TrainingDonorT.
One of the fields in the ContactPersonnelT table is, Affiliation. This field is a lookup value (look up wizard) which comes from the OrganizationT table field, OrganizationName.
In the TrainingDonorT table I have a field called, ContactPersonnel. This field is a lookup value which comes from the ContactPersonnelT table field, ContactPersonName. In the drop down list of the ContactPersonnel, besides the ContactPersonName. I also want to display the Affiliation field. However, instead of displaying the text in the OrganizationName field, a numerical value is showing.
How to change the display to text instead of the numerical value.
I've managed to use the lookup wizard to show me two fields in the drop down list, first name and last name, but when i select a record I can only see the first name in the cell, not both.
here I have capture what is error actually when i make a DLOOKUP wizard.the box of wizard. there i want to make a relationship with table2. but we could see that table1 still show. yes right, it's reality making error and show message ""you can't modify the structure of table, because it is already in use by another person or process"and warning message ""Microsoft access couldn't launch the lookup wizard, or this wizard has been disabled...blabla...blaa"
on my laptop, ms access 2010 nothing happen the mattter and when i make DLOOKUP, parent table have been not seen.and make DLOOKUP Wizard is successfull.
why in my PC, when i make DLOOKUP wizard, parent table still show?what is this bug for MS access 2010?
I'm curious about everyone's opinion of creating an Options table to keep track of things like defaults vs. using the system registry.
Example: For a montly report, I'd like to remember the previous end-date the user picked and use previous end-date+1 as the starting date the next time the user runs the report to make it easier on the user.
I got this message after I install the "SMTPSVG.DLL" that i got from http://www.serverobjects.com/comp/Aspmail3.htm What should I do?
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x8d8 Thread 0x994 DBC 0x240303c Jet'.
I want to know if possible how to define the structure or function that when you have a table "customers" and yoy (f.instance) change the address, you can save, modify the actual value but conserve the historical value.
Previously I am reading on how to create a Form that permit to obtain all the data required (not to complete) but to consult and if u want to modify.
I think this form could be easy but I want to create the register of the modification so that if any problem I can check the person who changed the data when and what items.
Hi all, Im updating my current checkbook registry database. Just want to be sure that table look ok to everyone before starting the coding process. This will be a multi user - multi account program. I have attached the relations diagram. Please give me some suggestions as to what fields i might need to add.
I have always had solid read access to the Windows registry running on Windows XP with Access 2007. I am utilizing code from here in a separate VBA Module to obtain access to the Windows registry:
"Change registry settings in VBA"
[URL]
On Windows 7 x64 / Access 2010 x86, I am seeing a 0 value in lngKeyHandle. Also, m_lngRetVal has a value of 2 after the RegOpenKey LOC.
Code: ' -------------------------------------------------------------- ' Query the key path ' -------------------------------------------------------------- m_lngRetVal = RegOpenKey(lngRootKey, strRegKeyPath, lngKeyHandle) ' -------------------------------------------------------------- ' If no key handle was found then there is no key. Leave here. ' -------------------------------------------------------------- If lngKeyHandle = 0 Then regQuery_A_Key = vbNullString m_lngRetVal = RegCloseKey(lngKeyHandle) ' always close the handle Exit Function End If
I have verified that I have the key successfully in the registry... installed via the .reg file that works on Windows XP / Access 2007 systems.
I am trying to create a user form with sub form using the form wizard. I have only 2 tables, Employee (main table) and Vacation (subform table). I pick the fields from Employee Table then fields fro Vacation, but the wizard treat the Vacation as main form and Employee as sub form.
I have a report...with one number at the end of a line, beneath is a sum() of all the numbers above.
To test this report, I have ensured there is just one line to 'sum' ....this particular number happens to be $15.82, yet the field showing the sum of this is displaying $15.83 ...I'm going potty here trying to work out where the extra 1 is being added...it's not a rounding error as there are no further decimals involved, both fields are set to 'fixed' 2 decimal places.
i have a tbl that stores items that have an expiry. in a child table i want to store the expiry. but as it is different for each item i need a way of doing this.
i thought that by having
DateAdd('m',3,Date()) in one of the fields this would work.
on click event i would like the date add to come into play but the way i am doing it comes up with an error. too few arguments.
this is what i have so far
Code: Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim db As DAO.Database Set db = CurrentDb
I have created a profiling database for my school. Each student can access their own form via the school's admission number - which I use as the primary key for most of the tables on the form. One section of the form shows a photo of the student. I take this photo from the school's SIMS photo file which had all the children's photos. Each photo in the file uses the school's admission number as its filename (for example 000358.jpg ).
I want to update the photos in my table by using a macro or piece of CBA code. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this. When I set the database up I did each photo one at a time, so it took several hours.
I have a main table with subject id and other fields. I also have 16 other tables which have questionnaire information at 17 different timepoints. In those tables, the subject id is the only connected field between the main table and 17 different years. When I add a new record (by subject id) on the main table, I want it to add that same subject id to the 17 other tables because that subject id will eventually get all 17 years worth of data. But even using subforms, it will not add a new subject to the other tables unless I add some sort of information such as (date received) into the subform.
