General :: Auto Scale To Fit Runtime 2010

Sep 30, 2013

I have created a db in which the front end has been distributed around the office and opened in runtime. The basic function of the db is to track current projects and contact between ourselves and clients.

When we have update meetings we use the large screen TV to view the db but it only takes up one small corner of the screen and is near on impossible to read.

I would like to know if there is any way that the picture can be stretched to fit the screen that it is being displayed on? Or would I have to create a separate version for the large screen so that people can read?

General :: Spell Check In MS Access 2010 Runtime

When distributing a program using 2010 runtime, I find that the spell check doesn't work. Is there a spell-check .dll or is there anyway I can get a spell checker?I have several memo fields with long report-type data entry which is being keyed by mutants. Spell checking is essential to get an intelligible report.

2010 Runtime ADODB Connection Failure

Jul 3, 2011

I have a routine which connects to MySQL database with ADODB connection. This worked in 2003 and 2007 runtime but throws a 430 error on 2010 runtime. It works in full access 2010. Has there been a change of policy to restrict this type of connection in the 2010 runtime? If I use a linked ODBC table instead of ADODB the runtime fails with "Runtime Error". It still works in full access.

Runtime Error When Trying To Send Email Using Access 2010

May 29, 2012

We are currently using Access 2007 and I've got a database that sends emails out to multiple users depending on the data that was entered. We are about to upgrade to Access 2010 and I am testing it now. I was originally getting runtime error '287' when I was adding addresses to a Recipient object. I got past that by adding the addresses in a string and concatenating. Now I'm getting the error with .Send.

Modules & VBA :: Access 2010 / Runtime Error 1004 While Export To Excel

Jun 15, 2015

I'm using Access 2010 and I want to export a query to Excel by clicking a button. Every time I click on it Excel opens but doesn't open my worksheet, it's just gray like you just open the program without a table. After exiting it Access tells me I got a run time error 1004: the open-method of the workbook object couldn't be executed. After opening my Excel file it says that Excel found unreadable content and asks if I want to restore the content of the workbook.

Here is my code:

Code:
Private Sub Befehl62_Click()
Dim cdb As DAO.Database, qdf As DAO.QueryDef, SheetName As String, xlApp As Object
Set cdb = CurrentDb
Forms!Export_to_Excel!txtSheetName.SetFocus
SheetName = Me!txtSheetName.Text

[code]....

where my problem is?

General :: Calendar Synchronization - Access 2010 To Outlook 2010

Mar 23, 2015

I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?

Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.

Forms :: Password Reset Form Doesn't Work In Runtime Access 2010

Feb 6, 2014

I created a small database with a user login form, along with a password reset form. Running it in my sandbox as an accdr file, the password value resets just fine, but on my test machine with the Access 2010 runtime installed, the password reset form doesn't reset the password. I will try to describe the state of things as of this point.

1. The LoginF presents with a combo box for the user to choose their name, and a text box to enter their password. The code below is on the After Update of the password text box.

Code:
Private Sub txtPassword_AfterUpdate()
'Check if user has been chosen
If IsNull(Me.cboUser) Then
MsgBox "Please Select User Initials", vbInformation, "Warning"

[Code] ....

2. The password reset form has two text boxes for the new password and to re-enter the same, as well as a command button with this code.

Code:
Private Sub cmdResetPassword_Click()
If Me.Password = Me.PasswordTest And Len(Me.Password) & "" > 0 Then
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord
DoCmd.Close
DoCmd.OpenForm "LoginF"

[Code] ....

As I say, this works as an accdr file, but not in the actual runtime environment.

Function Called Via Auto-exec Fails When Using Access 2007 Runtime

Jan 8, 2013

I am making my very first tentative steps to convert my most complex Access 2003 app to run under Access 2007. There are no obvious problems when simply opening my original MDB file in Access 2007 or running it after conversion to an ACCDB file. However, when I try to run the ACCDB file under the Access 2007 Runtime I get a "You can't carry out this action at the present time..." error. This is then followed by the "Execution of this application has stopped due to a runtime error..."

To be more specific, I only get that error when I deliberately hide the back end database and thus invoke code triggered via Autoexec to allow the user to browse for the missing database. This code works fine when running under normal Access 2007 so it appears to be a Runtime issue.

Shortcut To Auto Correct Options Access 2010

Oct 7, 2015

I have reinstalled Access 2010 due to a computer malfunction. I had customized my Dictionary with about 2000 abbreviations for medical specific words: gast for Gastroenterology for instance. Saves tons of typing. I have never been able to save my dictionary just in case something like this happens. And, It's happened before. I may have saved(unsure) once, but it was years ago on Access XP-2003, somewhere in that time frame and was never able to find it if I did. So I am reentering all these words again. It would sure be nice to be able to add them by Anything! but going File/Options/ Proofing/ Auto Correct Options and then entering my shortcuts. that's 4 steps each time. It would seem to me that if you can add the Auto-Correct icon in Word to the Word ribbon, Access should be able to do this. There is no icon i can find in Customize Ribbons/ All Commands. My Word Dictionary does not -never has- synced with Access' Dictionary.

Forms :: Access 2010 Auto Update Calculated Date Field?

Jan 21, 2015

I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.

For ex.

Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1:
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 31 Aug 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015

how can I make the expiration date update to go 30 days from what is in the extens field 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) instead of 267 days from the original date?

So I want it to look like this after updating a field

Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1: 30 Aug 2015
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 29 Sep 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015

Access 2010 - Auto Populate Correct Persons Email Address

I currently have a database set up with three basic forms:

Form 1 = Main menu with options to go to Form 2 and Form 3

Form 2 = Employee information form which includes email address

Form 3 = Employee document upload form

My goal is once the Employee is registered in Form 2 they can then upload a document in Form 3. When they upload this document and fill out other parameters Including their bosses name (which is captured as a record in Form 2) they click "Submit Form." I would like for this submit form button to populate an email that is updated to send to the selected "Bosses name"

Currently on the Submit form button I have:

Private Sub Submit_Record_Click()
DoCmd.SendObject _

"email .com", _ <-- this is what I want to autopopulate with the correct persons email (as well as their name below)

False
DoCmd.Close
End Sub

General :: Split Database With Runtime?

May 21, 2013

I haven't done any testing yet on splitting the database I'm working on but a question came up today about networking.

This database is going to be used by a few equipment operators to record machine readings on the manufacturing floor. There is a wireless network and we are in the process of confirming that the wireless signal reaches all the areas. The users will be using ruggedized windows tablets to enter the data.

The BE of the split database will reside on a network drive to ensure everyone that needs it will have access and it will be regularly backed up. etc.

Since there is alot of heavy machinery, there may be some spots where connectivity will be weak or non-existent while they are entering their readings.

The question is how will the runtime FE handle it if connectivity is temporarily interrupted?

Large Scale Corruption!

Jul 12, 2005

Hi all, apologies for the long post but this is a long nightmare!

Using A2k on Win2k...Due to roll out a DB today, just made my final tweaks and decided to compact/backup as have done many times before. It's not a split DB but it is secure so I copied the mdw onto my desktop and accessed it using a special compact shortcut which points to the desktop copy DB not the one on the network. When I compacted though Access went about it's business for a while and then threw up the dreaded "Network connection may be Lost" error message (roughly translates as "your database is nicely corrupt now") which I have had in the past when I tried to compact on the network. I've never had this error before compacting locally but anyway I tried again and same error message. I tried opening some forms and stuff and sure enought the DB was corrupt. No probs I thought, I can just go back to the original and start the process again. I used the normal shorcut to open the original DB just to check everything was ok and the same error message appeared with same problems. Minor panic ensued and I thought i'd got the shortcuts mixed up or something... I hadn't, Both DB's were affected.

Next option. Create a new DB and import all the objects. I did that and re-set all the permissions and the "Network Connection Lost" message dissapeared but some really strange things were happening. Forms opened but the buttons on them would do nothing. Then the forms Close button didn't work and the database wouldn't close.

I forced my way out of the DB and re-started my machine. Couldn't even log in to windows. Now at another machine and can log in to windows but DB is still having same problems. My instict tells me that the problem is something to do with the workgroup file becuase how else could compacting a copy corrupt the original? The only common link is the mdw.

Should I re-create the mdw and then try opening/importing the DB objects again? Or is there any way I can un-secure the DB and then re-secure it later?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tom

General :: Access Runtime And ODBC Connection Can't Get It To Work?
