General :: Button To Copy Value From One Field To Another
Aug 17, 2015
I've got to copy the value of field A so it appears in field B. Field B may be changed, but field A cannot be changed. What's the best code to put into my button to copy the value of field A into field B.
I have a db with about 30 tables. What is the easiest (if possible) to copy field names to paste it into Exel or Word? I need to distribute it to other people.
The underlined part (acCmdRecordsGoToNew) is false part of this code, because it copies the Adress Info to a new record, instead of copying it in the same.
-Is there someone that can help me with this problem, to make the copy-button in the Form run properly?
-Are there other options to achieve te same?
I have put in a attachment, to give you guys a visual example of what I mean.
Would it be ok just to make a copy of the BE file (every so often) rather than to make a copy via code?The user can then just paste over the original if it becomes corrupt.
I currently have a form for a handover process and am looking to have a button to ideally take a section of inputted information from the form and place this into an email.
I want to copy all these fields from my form, ideally into a new email but if not possible then atleast just to clipboard, is there any way to do this?
I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."
I have a form with several subforms for entering information while surveying rooms in a building. I am trying to create a button to copy records from one of the subforms if the data is the same (for example if there are 3 types of flooring in multiple rooms) and append it into the same subform with a different space ID. I can not get it to recognize the Space ID on the current record. This is what I have in the command button code:
Private Sub AppendFloorCmd_Click() Dim FloorTypes As String, SpaceUpdate As String Dim CurrentSpace As TextBox Set CurrentSpace = Me.SpaceID FloorTypes = "INSERT INTO FlooringSurveyTable (FlooringHomoID)" & _ "SELECT FlooringSurveyTable.FlooringHomoID FROM FlooringSurveyTable " & _ "WHERE (((FlooringSurveyTable.SpaceID)=[Enter Space ID to copy]))"
[code]....
When I click the button, it appends the right records but makes me type in the current space ID - I've tried a bunch of ways of naming that control, but it will not work.
Is it possible in access, to create a button that will copy a file to a new directory? Specifically, the data field in question is an access hyperlink that we can click on to open a PDF drawing of a part. I just want to copy the file the hyperlink points to, into a new directory.
How can I get the value from a field in one table (in the sub form) to copy/insert into a field in another table (in the main form) when adding a new record?The main form and sub form are linked using parent/child linking, and the sub form is in a tab.I have table A (Visit Dates) in the main form which is used to record the date of a visit to a church. Table B (Quarters and Peals) is used to record an event that took place at that church during that visit. Note that not all visits in table A require a record to be created in table B - but half or more do.
In tables A and B I have a field called "QuarterOrPealID" and these are both primary keys, though the field in table B is set to 'no duplicates' and in table A it's set to 'duplicates allowed', as table A has its own auto number/pk. They are both linked in the relationships.
So, when I add a new record to table A using the main form, I might then need to click on the tab in the sub form to create a new record in table B, which has to be linked to the same record in table A. When the "QuarterOrPealID" auto number/pk is generated in the sub form (table B), I need that value to update to the "QuarterOrPealID" field of the main form (table A), so that when I'm viewing these records the form pulls all the information nicely together.
I'd like to be able to show recruiters the database as an example of my work (to get an interview, etc.). Of course, I can't just show them a copy of the database with all of the private information on it, so I'd like to be able to show them a copy of the database with no records. Is there a way to export/copy it so I can do this in Access 2007?
I am trying to copy a pdf file between 2 directories. I am using xCopy, When I build my copy statement based upon various parameters, it looks something like this:
I might note that there is only one file in C:PDF995OUTPUT at a time. So I copy what is there, delete it and it is empty until the next usage.when it executes the statement, I get a DOS message asking whether what is being copied is a File or a Directory.How can I identify that without needing to respond to a message?
In one table (Alpha1) I have a person's general information (e.g., name, SSN, address, phone number, etc.).
I have a person enter his or her SSN and the general information is populated.
I want the person to click on an icon and all the Alpha1 information is transferred to a new table (same field names), then bring up that same record in a new form.
I'll do the work. I simply need the general concept of making this work.
I have a form and a button it to copy the data to save me time when 99% is duplicated Ie If I enter 2 siblings data I fill one out then copy it and only change the siblings name a bdate.Then problem is it does copy the data but locks up the form. I have t X out the form when I do a warning comes up asking me if I want to empty the clipboard of, in short, a massive amount of data. I say yes and then reopen the form and there is the duplicate data ie 2 records.
Private Sub Command163_Click() 'Coppy record Button On Error GoTo Err_Command163_Click DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 8, , acMenuVer70 DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 2, , acMenuVer70 DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acEditMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70 'Paste Append
I have to create a flat file to send to a group each month. The file type I create is M(a 7 digit number).(a three digit number), like M1234567.123. I create it as a text file and rename it from a field on a form. The field is in the last line of code below, WaiverFile.
START OF CODE
Dim NewFormName As String DoCmd.TransferText acExportFixed, "WaiverFiles", "qryViewWaiverBilling", "C:PSWaiverFilesPSWaiverFile.txt", False, "" Dim stFileLoc As String stFileLoc = "C:PSWaiverFiles" FileCopy stFileLoc & "PSWaiverFile.txt", stFileLoc & Forms!frmDailyLogOptions!WaiverFile
END OF CODE
I have a procedure that this is part of. The next thing I need after the code above is to copy this file, M1234567.123, or “M?.?”, to a folder on a mapped drive, that is T:PSWaiverFiles. I need to copy it as M*, so that I can get the file every time. I have tried several things, including:
I am trying to copy a table and paste as another name. I do this all the time with this table as it is a process I have to do. It is giving me a -1524 error. I also tried to export it to another database and it won't allow that either. I get the same error.
I have tried this with other tables and it does fine.
I have a table customers, which i can select from an combobox. In my form two tables are bound. one is the customers, and the other is a table where i want to copy the customer information.
I tried this code to copy the selection I made in the combobox afterupdate.
[T_Invoice_firstname] = [T_customer.firstname]
But I get an error 2448 saying I cant assign a value to this object.
I tried msgbox [T_customer.firstname] and i see the name
I tried msgbox [T_invoice.firstname] and i see the empty record
I even filled in a name in the t_invoice.firstname and it shows with the msgbox also.
I pasted the tables, modules, macros, etc. from one database to another and the only thing left is the Saved Import. How can I get that into another database? It is quite a large import, otherwise i would just recreate it.
I am trying to make a stand-alone version of a database whose files are mysql files connected by odbc. When I copy the linked files and save them as local files, they come in with the auto-numbered id field still marked as the primary key, but as just "number" and not auto-number. It does come in marked required. I can't change the type to auto-number, so it errors when the user tries to add a record using the input form. Also, I have the fields used to keep true/false data set up in the mysql files as integers with default values of 0. When they are saved as local tables, they come in marked required but without a default value. Hence, when a user enters a new record in a form that doesn't use that particular check box, it errors. What am I missing? Is there an easy way around this?
