General :: Calculated Value Invisible Until Been Clicked
Jan 9, 2014
We are running Access 2010 runtime on Server 2008 R2 with both FE and BE on it. Each user has own FE copy on Server which is opened from own PC through remote desktop.
After fresh Server restart all goes well for 1-2 weeks. But then some strange behaviour starts:
- values of all calculated fields - whatever, on forms or on reports - disapears. When I click on a field it shows up again. And refresh does not work;
- all condition formats does not show up until I hover the mose on it.
When we restart the Server all comes to normal again. Its very annoying because users thinking data are gone!
I am having a problem with Hyperlink in a form when I click it tells me Run time error Microsoft access cannot follow hyperlink. Each records has its own link for specific file. If I click the link in the table it opens with no problem but in the form I get the error message to debug or end if I hit End it open the link.
Looked at the form - on click event procedures my command is
I'm trying to get some labels and eventually text boxes to become visible on an input of a qty in a text box, but I can't get my syntax right. Here's what I have so far.
Private Sub More_qty_AfterUpdate() Dim count As Integer Dim pumplbl As String For count = 1 To [More qty].Value pumplbl = "pumplbl" & count pumplbl.Visible = True
I want to know the "cummulative sum of a calculated field".
Given Lookup table : A = U, V, W | B = X, Y, Z Field C = iif([A]="U",10, iif([A]="V",20, iif([A]="W",30, 0))) Field D = iif([B]="X",10, iif([B]="Y",20, iif([B]="Z",30, 0))) Field E = C+D Field F = Cummulative sum of "Field E". What would be the expression for the cummulative sum here ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried F = Sum(C+D), but it shows me error ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a score marking template for an internal audit. A criteria is either met, or it is not. All of these questions have Yes/No data type. each question has a weighting. I have written a VBA function to work out the total score by using a bunch of If statements.I need to store the final result in a table, by entering the answers (yes or no) into a form.
I have an invoice form named frmInvoice. It contains a subform named subInvDetails. I am trying unsuccessfully to transfer a calculated subtotal from a text box in subInvDetails to a total in a text box in frmInvoice. Is there a way to do this? I have tried everything I can think of but I can't seem to make it happen.
To be more precise, I have a textbox which is a calculated value ([Rate]*[Hours]) named txtSubTotal in the sub form. In the main form I have a field named txtTotal. I thought that setting the Default Value of txtTotal to =Sum([Forms]![subInvDetail]![Subtotal]) was the right way to it, but the value of txtTotal remained zero. I have also tried using =Sum([Forms]![subInvDetail]![Subtotal]) as txtTotal's Control Source, but that didn't fit my needs or seem like the right way to do it. It didn't work anyway.
So i have a Calculated field in a table which is an expiration date. It adds two years to another field. Both field are on a Form. make the calculated field editable because some of the expiry dates are not necessarily 2 years. How do i change this?? do i need to like code it? i have no clue how to even start.
I am looking to do a calculated field. Not sure what is the best way to do this, but I would like to have a dates in a table with all of our employees that has what date they started with the company. From that I want to know not how many days they have been with the company, but just the years.
So if I have been with the company 364 days, it should only show up as 0, and if I have been with the company for 365, it will read 1. I would like this to be in a query somehow. We use the number of years they have been with the company for their pay, and need it to be years, and not days.
I know that it isn't usually best practise to store calculated fields in a table, but in my situation it is necessary, and I haven't really found a good answer for this after searching these and other forums.
Currently my database has one "Name" field (I didn't make it like this) which might look like this "Jonathan (John) Smith" Now I also have reason to grab the name like this "Smith, John" for other purposes.
I've set up a form for inputting new people with separate fields for firstname, preferredname, and lastname. I have the calculated fields:
(Later I will add in all the iif's for if there is no preferred name)
Upon finishing the form, the user hits Submit, and I would like to store the concatenated values into the table in their appropriate fields.
I can do this with a SQL INSERT INTO statement but I'd have to add all 25 or so fields from the form, and injecting user input directly into a SQL statement is not best practice either.
I need to populate a table with Grid reference values consisting of 6 figure integers, eastings and northings.
I am receiving/downloading the Grid Refs in a UK Grid Tile format, with 3, 4 or 5 figures preceded by letters.
E.g. SK 456 849, SP 6789 4356.
I have used some query functions and written a bit of VBA behind a form to convert the received coordinates into the full coords I want. The coordinates are now in unbound controls on a form, and I want to pass these back to a table so I can use the data for display purposes.
Ideally I want to link to the table from a GIS and autoupdate without having to open the database (my imported data is linked in to feed the database automatically).
I have done some searching and not found a method to pass the values into a table - What is my best way of doing this automatically?
I am working with access forms, but I am having a problem when I try to calculate fields. I have three text box:
Quantity Price Total
When I type numbers in quantity and price field the Total field should get populated with the total of Quantity and Prices..I have tried a lot of formulas like:
=[Quantity]*[Price] But nothing happens when I put the form in Form View. In the Total field I get #Error.
Is it possible to have a calculated column based on another table. i have a 1 to many table. the table that is the parent hold a start time. all of the 'many' have an individual time length. i would like a calculated column in the parent table showing the full length. is it possible or will i have to use an update query?
I've created a table for a college project and realised that one of my calculated fields isn't working. It doesn't produce an error message, it just doesn't calculate.
I am creating a database with over 500 entries. One thing that would speed up the process of entering all of this data manually would be if I could type in the birth date and the age would be automatically calculated. Is there any way this can be done? It is all in the same table.
I am new to Access and this is likely a very elementary question. I recently created a database to track status of projects including progress and funding. The table contains several fields that record various aspects of funding. These fields are added (very simply) and create a calculated field that is a summation of those fields. The table currently contains approx 60 records. The calculated field functions for 2 or 3 records and will not calculate further. I have tried this in a form as well as a query. The form will change the same number, 2 or 3 records. When the query is run the result shows only the 2 or 3 records. What I am doing that is only reading and modifying those records?
BUT IT JUST GIVE ME THE VALUE LIKE A NUMBER SUCH AS e.g. 50 ,150 but instead of that i want currency data type of that calculate field for e.g. 50 become "$ 50".
Okay so in able to do that i go to properties Sheet of the field of the query and change Format to Currency ..BUT IT DOESN'T CHANGE !!!
I am trying to change the data type of a field in a table from calculated to something else. It gives me the error "this data type cannot be changed once the field has been saved"
The interface being used is a main form with various tabs and a subform on each of these tabs.
There is one field ('max power density') in my database that is calculated using 'Max Rated Power' and 'Cylinder Capacity' however these are in different tables and subforms. The 'max power density' and 'max rated power' are in table and subform 1 but 'cylinder capacity' is in table and subform 2. Is it possible to keep them in separate tables/subforms and still calculate the field?
I have an option button for a field [Fully Paid] (Yes/No) in my LoanT and i want to know if it's possible for my database to automatically choose an option depending on a calculated field
(Calculated field from another query) = [Outstanding Balance]
Say... if [outstanding balance] is = 0 or negative (refundable), then Yes should be On, if not it should remain No/off so that i wouldn't have to go over every record and manually choose the option
The option button is very useful when i want to display loans which are Paid and/or still active. How do I go about this?
I've got this yes/no message box that deletes an appointment. When i click yes to confirm delete, the box just stays there. I have to click yes again before it works. Clicking no works fine. Its like its going round the else if statement for vbYes twice. Does anyone know why this is happening? Heres a snippet of the related code. Thanks in advance.
If myYesNoQuestion(strDelete) = vbNo Then myDisplayInfoMessage "Appointment kept on file" 'If the user decides not to delete the customer then appointment kept Calendar3.SetFocus 'Sets the focus away to allow the rooms to be disabled lstRoom1.Enabled = False lstRoom2.Enabled = False lstRoom3.Enabled = False lstRoom4.Enabled = False 'Disables the rooms again
ElseIf myYesNoQuestion(strDelete) = vbYes Then strSQL = "DELETE * FROM tblAppointment where [AppointmentID]= " & .Column(2) 'SQL to delete appointment from table DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL DoCmd.SetWarnings True 'Turn warning off, run SQL, turn them back on again
myDisplayInfoMessage "Appointment Deleted OK" 'If the user decides to delete the customer then record is deleted and a message is shown to prove that Calendar3.SetFocus 'Sets the focus away to allow the rooms to be disabled lstRoom1.Enabled = False lstRoom2.Enabled = False lstRoom3.Enabled = False lstRoom4.Enabled = False 'Disables the rooms again
I have a form, with just two buttons, say "Tyre" and "Engine". These buttons open the same form, say frmCar.
What I want to do is when I click the "Tyre" button, a tbo in the frmCar to get as value "Tyre" and when I click the "Engine" button, the same tbo in the frmCar to get the value "Engine".
I have this subform in a form, i want the field that has a hyperlink (which is called Link) to display a check box once the file path has been pressed, so when each path (Link) is pressed i would like the form to display a check box that would tell the person if that pathfile had been pressed. I would like this to show for each of the path files.
This has been working perfectly fine however the TotalPrice is no longer calculating the UnitPrice x Quantity and the TotalCost isnt calculating as nothing appears in the TotalPrice. However when we click the fields the data is diplayed but only on clicking, if we leave the record and go back its back to blank again.
I'm designing a form which will display a lot of employee information in a tabular layout. Users need the option to update a lot of these controls, but I want them to do that on a separate form. I'm wondering if VBA can determine the position of a clicked button within the tabular layout.
Can I have some code which determines that, for example, the second button across on the 3rd row is clicked and read the corresponding label?
I was planning to have each button just call a function passing an argument, but since all these buttons will be labelled "update" it could get a bit confusing if I need to re-arrange the controls. So I wondered if what I describe above is possible, and which VBA functions I would need to look into if so?
I have two command buttons having two textboxes to populate. The way I am going to populate the text for both the textboxes is same but on separate clicks. Is there way to find which button (or control) is being clicked in runtime. I think I have done it a long back but not getting right now (I had a gap in my career). The keyword sounds like some 'Defaultcodecontrol' or something like that only.
