General :: Code For Bringing Daily Data Into Excel
Jun 22, 2015
I am trying to transfer daily data that I get from three different queries all into one Excel sheet. I take it that you have to make one over-arching query which I have made called Awaiting Base.
I have an Excel sheet that I'd like to bring into an Access Form -- populate the Excel cells with data from textboxes on the Access Form and print it. I tried copy/pasting various things in, but it's pasting even text from a cell as an Excel object (let alone joined cells and images). Where can I find more information about this?
I found http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=210288 But, when I put that code into the form for saving text from a text box to an Excel cell, it tells me that the word "Set" is a "Compile error: Invalid outside procedure."
Also, how do I refer to a joined cell? I've found that I can copy from a joined cell, paste into a host cell and select "Paste Link". This puts an absolute reference to the joined cell in the host cell (=$A$7, for instance) and when I change the joined cell the host cell is changed. Pasting =$A$7 seems to merely put the face value of "=$A$7 into the host cell.
I want to be able to append data programatically once daily OnClose.Although users can log-off & on as many times, but the Append should be once & after then, update subsequent records for that day automatically from table1-table2.
How can I show data by category? I have 2 tables 1) Categories, field 1 in Category Id, Field 2 is Category name 2) Contacts, Field 1 is Category name which is the relationship with the category name field in the categories table, the rest of the fields are adress, phone, fax ect, ect.
I would like to be able to view the contacts by category name, but I don't know how to do it. I have created a report but the report shows all the contacts, not by category.
What is the first step in accomplishing this? I am not very adept with queries so please I can really use some giudance. I have also been on the MSOffice traiing site but that didn't help me much. Of course I didn't know what I training to do :).
how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.Like we have some codes for linking excel file to database mentioned below;
Can we have something like this to link database table in excel file automatically. So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.
I am just starting out learning how to connect Access to Excel. From an Access form, I need to connect to an Excel spreadsheet, and loop through every row/column to look for data that matches a database field data, then populates the associated cell data. I don't want to import the spreadsheet since the user who created it is using it manually, and I am attempting to automate the task. This is probably the most elementary code, but I would like to start out with the best way to do this. What I am finding is code that appears to be much more complicated than I need, for more complicated situations.
I'm working with an A/P department that is using "legacy technology" and has no capability for maintaining notes on invoices due, etc. I'd like to give them a database that would provide them with the features they need, but I'm running into a conceptual snag.
I am able to extract from their database system all open invoices each day. For each invoice, the A/P person will make notes from day to day on approvals to pay, any problems with the invoice or related inventory or service, discussions with the vendor, etc. So, let's say on Monday they make notes on a particular open invoice. On Tuesday, they'll pull all open invoices from their system and import that set of invoices into the Access database. Some will be new, but many will already be in the table. Using the Vendor Number and Invoice Number together as the table key, I can avoid duplication into the table. But, some already in the database will not appear in the new extract because they've been paid.
So, my question is... how do I get to a point where they can do this import each day and see only the invoices that are currently open AND maintain their previously-entered notes? I thought first that there would be a query to run each day, but I don't know how to keep consistency regarding table names in the query, etc, so the query doesn't have to be edited for each new import. Would this be an append to get the new ones? If so, how do I drop the ones that are not in the newest extracted data?
A complication, of course, is that I want them to be autonomous and able to do this without my input each day.
I need some help on this one. I have two Crystal Report generated Excel spreadsheets that are auto-updated on a daily basis. One spreadsheet contains computer assets, type, model, locations, etc. The second spreadsheet has users assigned to them, phone numbers, etc. I need to import these in to existing tables with numerous filters into my Access database weekly. They don’t change a whole lot but I need the changes to be reflected in my database.
The way I have it setup now is through a linked table, then I use a “Make table query” to filter the data.
My problem is the filtered table has relationships set up that I have to delete then recreate every time I need to run the “Make table query” because it has to delete the old table first.
what I have in Access is a table which lists jobs via their HB Number (as well as a ID number access gives them). For each job there is a bunch of details and some Yes/No fields. Each day I will get a dump from another system that will list jobs like this, I then need to "Update" the Access table with any new information from the excel dump. The update would need to:
1. Insert new records (jobs) from Excel dump into Access Table 2. Update any of the records fields (except HB of course as its unique) in the access table from the Excel dump (the Excel dump obviously wont have access ID numbers, but will have the HB)For a real basic example:
Access Table Like So:
ID HB Finished
1 5A Yes
2 5B No
[code]...
the actually data has lots of different fields and many many many more records. But yeah basically need to update the table from an excel dump.I thought it was as simple as doing a Excel Import > Append Table thing in Access, but that just seems to add the new records and ignore the updated fields?
Having experimented with Access for a few months now; I know you can link an Access Database to SharePoint, and you can export Excel files into Access for inclusion in tables.
My question is; If I have a daily report being produced, through script, with an excel output. Is there anyway to automatically publish this in Access, negating the need to manually go into Access to import?
I am not sure how complicated of a job this is, but we want to be able to import our daily recievals of inventory into our existing inventory database instead of entering it by hand. I try using the wizard, however when I get to "finish" it says there was an error and it was not imported.
I don't know much about access but I was hoping one of you could point me in the right direction.
Im using ms access 2010 and this program compatible with previously ms access.the error show is type mismatch (error 13) on
Code:
Set rbs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT MSysObjects.Name" _ & " FROM MSysObjects WHERE MSysObjects.Type= 1 And MSysObjects.Flags=0" _ & " and MSysObjects.Name='" & n_tb & "'")
I have a production application in which i have a table named daily_production with fields as ( prod_id, date, productname, qty ). Now I want a daily production query as
date : xx-xx-xxxx productname | qty | monthlysum(for thsi product) | daily average |
I want this on a single query so that i can make a report out of this .
We have small data dumps from a webservice delivered to us daily in csv format. I'd like to create a system where we can have the data automatically imported into either Access.
My idea is this:
1. CSV is downloaded to <x> folder.
2. Scheduled Task runs script to look in folder <x>
3. If CSV is found in folder <x>, import it's data into a fixed Access db->table.
4. Move CSV to an archive folder to avoid re-processing.
Is this feasible? How complicated would it be, and how to get it on track?
i have a production database in which i have different sections processing on the same product. i have a daily production entry form on which datewise entry is done for each section.
i want to maintain the total stock of each section (sectionB) with productName, input from sectionA , production from sectionB, balance (input-production) . presently i used query for this .. but i need a stock table in which entries should be inserted by an automatic query .. how should i achieve this :
1. by an append query who runs every time to append the quantity when a daily entry is made .?? 2. by an update query to replace the quantity with a qty from totals query ?
i.e. what is the best method to maintain inventory from input & output tables ?
i have access 2013 and when i try to export data to excel with "Analyze data in excel" when the file is open i excel i get this error message file error: some data may have been lost". (and a whole row has not been export)
i tried to fix this file with excel open and repair option and i click on "extract data" but then i got this message; Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted. Excel found errors that may cause some recovered data to be put in the wrong cells.
I currently have a table that holds 2 months of data. Let's just use January/February 2004 as an example.
The field name is [DateReceived] and goes from '1/1/2004' to '2/29/2004'. I need to group my records in 7-day spans for a future query, so anything from 1/1 to 1/7 would be grouped, etc.....
I have no idea how to do this. Any help would be great.
I have visitors who come in from one to several days at a time through different times of the year. Usually someone visits each day. Currently I use Excel to track visitors but I often keep typing and retyping the same persons over and over.
I would like to create a database of these people but I'm stuck with how to enter and retrieve the information on a daily basis. Should I create a table with many date fields (up to several); or just two; one FROM and one TO and try to draw the information out through a query? If so, how would one ask ACCESS with a query to PRINT TODAYS LIST and another VIEW TODAYS LIST (of visitors) with a button on a form (I know how to create buttons).
I have a report that shows the daily activities. it shows how long it takes to do each task. however some tasks are 8 hours andsome are 10 hours. when all these times are added together it will give the time on a clock. not a total of hours spent.
i.e. treatment1 : 8 hours treatment2: 10 hours
this will give 06:00 in short time. in medium time it will give 18:00.
however if I add another 12 hours to that it will give 06:00.
I want it to show either 1 day and 4 hours /or 30 hours.
I have made a access database which captures new booking information and i then want to export this to a pre-existing excel doc which has formulas in which will work out how long it took my team to process it.
So my question really is to see if it possible to just keep adding data to an excel doc that i have created?
