1) Create a table with a single text field
2) Enter some text values, including one which begins either "aa", "AA" or "Aa" (but not "aA"!)
3) Sort the field, and note where it puts the string(s) created in (2)
For me, they appear at the wrong end of the sorted list! I have tested this in Access 2007 and 2010 and it only happens in 2010. I'm using 32 bit Access on 64 bit Win 7 Pro.
I'm trying to set the control source for a control on my report that describes the number of portions that goes into a box. Sometimes there is a specific number of portions per box and sometimes it's a range. When the number of units is specific, then it is entered into the MasterCaseMinUnits Field. If there is a range of units possible than the min is entered into MasterCaseMinUnits and the max is entered into the MasterCaseMaxUnits.
I want my report to look at the mastercasemaxunits, if it is blank it will only display what is in the MasterCaseMinUnits field. If there is a value in the masterCasemaxUnits field, then it will display the masterCaseMinUnits & " - " & MasterCaseMaxUnits. this is the code I'm Using:
I have multiple fields in a table that are set up as Yes/No and display as checkboxes on a form. Now I need to create a text field on a report that showes all the Yes answers. The text field needs to figure out if it's a Yes answer, then display the field name, if there is more than one yes answer in the fields it is looking at, it should separate each with a "," . This is a large text field, that could show as many as 10 Yes answers.
What is the best way to go about doing this? I use Access 2010
I have a single field in a table called "Client Contact", where users enter a semicolon between the name, address, and city state & zip. My reason for this was so we could copy client info with a single copy and paste (like from an email). But, on the final report, it needs to have these three parts split up into different lines, or even different textboxes. I can't find a way to do that.
I am having trouble creating a query where I am trying to count number of records for different fields for a particular criteria, and combine the results into a single table.
My table is in the form, TimeandDate,WS127m_Avg,WS82m_Avg....
I want to count those records where a 9999 is reported, and report by month. For a single field I can do this OK using,
SELECT DateSerial(Year([TimeandDate]),Month([TimeandDate]),1) AS [Month], Count(WS127m_Avg) AS 9999s FROM CL_AllData WHERE (((WS127m_Avg)=9999)) GROUP BY DateSerial(Year([TimeandDate]),Month([TimeandDate]),1);
I can't figure out how to report an additional field (WS82m_Avg) at the same time, checking for the same criteria in that field (i.e. WS82m_Avg = 9999).
Here is my problem: I have an Access database that contains a table with three columns (A & B & C). Field A is for code values and field B is for the value for that particular code. Field C holds the case number. I have a folder that contains the information for over 5000 case numbers. Each case number needs to be placed inside of the table. Considering there are 5000 case numbers, I dont want to use the import wizard 5000 times.
Furthermore, the text file only has two columns (for A and B).
I am trying to create a VBA that will append rows to the table by going into each file and placing the information into the table. The first row for each file contains the case number. So when the VBA runs, it should open the text file get the case number from the first row (field B on the text file) and place that in the case number field of the table for the entire file; and then repeat this action for all of the files in the entire folder.
Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.
create a check on a feild(customer id) of customer table in MS Access , as "Customer ID is of 8 characters, the first 4 are alphabets and the last 4 are digits"
I have a small database I am building to log and record Calibration Details Of thermometers etc. I have several table that are related, no probs so far.
However I am struggling with forms and reports that use data from the asset table more than once. IE. I have a calibration unit (this is an asset as this also needs calibrated ) that I use to test the thermometers (These Are Assets) but this is also in the same asset table as the thermometers. I need to reference the Calibration unit and the thermometer or whatever item I am testing on the same form or report. I seem to have got round the form problem but i am stuck on the report as access keeps linking to only one item, how do I make it link to 2 items on the same table on the one report.
How could I create a single table (matrix) type input view to allocate bank transactions to categories, noting one transaction can be allocated multiple categories with an associated percentage? What approach should I use in Access to get this? So say I have the following tables:
* Transactions * Business Category * Transaction-Business-Allocation (which includes) - Transaction ID - Business Category ID - Percent Allocation
But in terms of the means of reviewing bank account items and allocating I really want a view like this (see attached image)The specific business category could be either selected specifically, or all included.
Hi all. I'm working on a temporary database (Access 2003) for work until we get our system validated. Is it okay or acceptable to have a single-field table or do I need to throw an autonumber on there for the key? I really just need this table to populate a combobox/listbox in the form. I don't want to to use the "OnNotinList" with the combobox so I need to store them somewhere. Thanks!
I would like to be able to copy a single record in a table and then paste this record a pre-defined number of times 10,20,30 depending on requirements. The reason I need to do this is that I want to set up a number of identical records that can easily be amended into unique records. This will vastly reduce the amount of work and time spent entering records individually.
The only way that I have been able to achieve this is to copy and transfer the master record into Excel, and then copy the row and paste it into a range of cells. Copy the range of cells back from Excel and then paste this range back into the Access table.
This works but is long winded; what I would like to know is is there a simply way of achieving this.
I have a couple of tables which only have a single field. Is it worth adding a second field in order to hold an ID number (is this commonly termed an index number?) for each entry.
My other tables with multiple fields include a field for an ID number and these tables are linked via these fields.
At this stage I cannot see any reason why, in the future, I would want to add additional fields to the tables which I am currently planning to make single field.
I'm currently working on a project within access which will allow users to select/input information in a form which will then save to the database.
What I need is to create a button on the form which will allow you to convert the data collected from the form to a custom text file template.
(Or maybe the last row added to the database. - although this may cause errors. Example: the form information doesn't save which will in turn create a text file with the data collected from the previous job)
The custom text file template should have a sentence description followed by the value recorded from the form.
Example:
1 configuration type: (data from form)
2 model type: (data from form)
3 Poc: (data from form)
And so on.
So in summary - I would be to use the form to collect the desired information which will save to the database.
Once actioned, a custom text file should be populated with the collected information (with specific data placement as per the example above)....
I've inherited a data base which has the address details of our members spread across multi fields i.e. Add 1, Add2, Add 3, Post town, Post code etc.
Not all the fields contain information which means when I do a mail merge for address labels there are blank lines.
I would like to either be able to create a single field in the table (like a memo field for example) which contains all the address detail, or create a mail merge without blank lines.
i am trying to have a continuous form where i have a combo filter to filter the records. i would like to be able to add records on this form but i keep getting an error
Field cannot be updated
runtime error 3348 cannot add record(s); join key of table 'tblOrdersItems' not in record set.
the table system for the relevant tables is a one to many.(parent / Child).it seems to work beautifully. i have the unique id fields of both tables in the form. i have the foreign key of the parent that is bound to the child form.
when i create a new record the error message appears. when i click end. i can see that the id fields have been populated and they look as they should. i cant seem to grasp what join key is not present. open frmDiaryNoneItems. there is a combo box in the header that you will need to toggle to show some records. try and create a new record and you will grasp what i mean.
This is a errand database where each client can have several errands and some errands are related to each one and other.
Since each client can have several errands and and each errand is related to each one and other, then the client. I thought i need key which can work as a ClientErrandID, so i can tie the errands together. My idee is to use the ClientErrandID as an text auto incrementing field with a string like: (Errand-A-xxxx).
Lest say the range would be from (Errand-A-0000 to Errand-A-9999) And when the string hits "9999" at the end the "A" will switch to a "B" and the number counter would start over from "0000"
How should the table relationship look like? When a user is adding a new errand to a client, how should the function work?
Should all the associated errands be created in the background and granted the same Errand_ID when the main errand is created? Can i create a incrementing text field with vba & queries?
How would the code structure look like?Is there any examples on a incrementing text field with code available?
MP No (Primary key), Sales, Date Entry, Specs, Email
The second Table is as follows:
MP No, Quantity, Description, DWG, Price
There is a "one-to-many" relationship between the two tables through the MP No field so whenever I go to the first table there is a sub-table for each MP No. Correct?can I create an extra sub table under the sub table already created?
I wanted to create a field lookup with values that I specify, not on the table sheet, but on the form. User can click on a text box or combo box and can select a list of value that I specify, not values that are listed on a table but ones that I type in, in the form.
I am attempting to create a printed label with a concatenated field. I want the field to abbreviate several shapes and colors but i will just start with the shape.
=IIf([Shape]="round","RD","TH")
This is what my basic statement says. I am attempting to nest other options inside of this.
I have an old ERP system. The upload function is one line per value. So if I want to upload 7 models I need 7 lines, not one line with Qty of 7 however my source system sends the data as one line with Qty of 7
so in this example line 1 is fine. But line two needs 7 lines, and line 3 needs 7 lines and line 4 147 lines etc etc etc.so this is how the first three lines would look in the query.
I split my db to front-end and back-end. 20 users are using the database. But now I have the problem: In my admin front-end db I created a new table and some reports to the table, but this new table I have only in my front-end db and it doesnot appeares in back-end db - so that other users has no data in hte report for the new table. How I can create new table to be in back-and table too?
