I am looking to design and create a user interface for my database. Preferably hiding the standard access interface and upon opening the database have a pop up form with buttons to direct users to forms queries.

I have never used Access, and its in Italian, i have zero italian and im finding it difficult to start. Does any one know how do i activate Multilingual User Interface and does it come with all Microsoft Office software...does it have to be installed or is it installed automatically
View 5 Replies View RelatedHello, I am in the process of creating my database and I was looking for some guidance. My goal is to manage and track clients attending our program and ultimately being able to print and individual report with that information. Example: john doe on 12/28 attended 3 groups X,Y and Z.
I have created two tables one with the client's ID, name and starting date.
The second with the groups offered, the instructors and days and times of the groups.
The third I believe should be a dated table that would have groups and all the people who attended that day. This is where I am getting confused. I am not sure how to proceed.
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

I have a multi user database in Access 2000 that is on a server. The individual users have shortcuts pointing towards the server instance. One user and one user only when opening the shortcut gets the error "you do not have exclusive rights to the database" .
All other users can enter the database with no error box. I have checked the advanced setting under options and they are correct. Ironically if you go to start and open access then navigate to the database shortcut. It opens with no error.
I am creating a database for creating quotations. The quotation number is generated using the date, for example the first quote today would be quote number "05202015-1" because it is the first one today. The next quote today would be quote number "05202015-2" and so on. Is there a way to make access automatically generate these quote numbers based on the date?

The other question I had about the Split database would be- Does having a split database mean the data needs to be updated in 2 tables or am I taking Splitting databases too literally?
creating dynamic RibbonXML where statement will depend on user that is accessing access database. I created DynamicXML no problem and it changes context depending on user but my main problem is refreshing ribbon. I see that UsysRibbons tables changes fine but it's not being loaded. I have to restart access in order to this to take effect. I tried gobjRibbon.Invalidate method but it doesn't refresh ribbon for some reason... Here is my code:I created new module with name "Ribbon" and put this in there:

We having this Human resource system that the company will be using however, the current payroll application will still be used as normal but the update will not be done on the same application.At the moment the current set up is that there a three database linked together that makes up the payroll application but for now one of this database will not be pupolated with data as it will now come from another source all together via extraction or file interface which is the new HR software.
The only problem I'm facing is some of those fields that i will need to transfer over to suit the current set up of the payroll application is not included on that new software file extract and i dont know where to start or what to do because abviously the file interface should consists of this mandatory field.Without seeing the relationship of what I'm talking about do you think its worth continuing this project as those wanted field are not included?And how can we go without these mandatory field?
is there a way to create a profile on each person on my database, to show their contact details and whether they've made a purchase from me before, or must I literally just make a table entering each individual person and purchase?
My boss (in another job) showed me very quickly an extremely old database one of his old employees had made for him years ago containing all of his clients, each shown individually, and he was able to click through each one, and each window showed the client's name, contact details, personal details, etc. and he just had hundreds of entries for all of his clients and was able to scan through each individual one. I am 99% sure he said it was on Microsoft Access that he'd done it.I just want to monitor how many of mailing list subscribers have also made purchases and whatnot, as I do rewards for them, and it'll be much easier to view each person's profile and the orders they've made than have to scan through a table to find each separate order?
I am looking to create something called a "transactional" database that tracks historical information.I want to track and keep a record of employees at my organization who have had disciplinary action. We currently have a 5 step approach leading to termination.Eg. Step 1: receive Letter #1 Step 2: receive letter #2 + manager meeting step 3: receive letter 3 + manager and director meeting, etc etc.
I believe this is transactional because for each employee, we would need to see when they received the letter in the past, and an employee may receive two or three "step 1 letter 1" notices due to whatever circumstance.I stumbled upon this database and I found the bottom part where you Add/Edit Employee is what I am looking to do...except I can't Design view or anything to see how all this cool stuff is done! Essentially, I want to create a user friendly database like the link above where a clerk/admin assistant can open Access, search for an employee by name or department or manager, and then be prompted to add information such as Letter #2 delivered, manager meeting occured, employee signature, etc.
I'm creating a database full of contacts. I have a contacts table with detailed info on each contact and I also have a company table with details on each company - all companies attached to a contact are in the company table plus a few others. I'd like to be able to pull up a company profile and see all the contacts we have associated with that company displayed in a list.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a Special Recorded tracking database where a member of staff will log the tracker number into the database and then at a later date someone can come and update the data, what I want to do is scan the tracker barcode with a scan gun and its details appear for updating, I can do this part but when I make any amendments to the data it doesn't save the new data and I don't know why? I am using a combobox to display the tracker number and me.text1.value = me.combo4.column(1) and so on and so forth to display the data, when I change this data it doesn't save.

My Company currently use a 3rd party accounts program and we raise sales and purchases using numerical numbers ( but we can Jump to a new range of numbers within the program) for example if the purchase order numbers become simliar to the sales order numbers. But this 3rd party software does not let us scan documents into it hence the need for an alternative database.
For the data base I was thinking if only creating a index of the sales order numbers to start with. the first few question I have are.
1.) Should I Use the Autonumber as my first index column or should I replace it with our own sales order numbers in that column.
2.) is there a way to autopopulate the sales order numbers in a table for historical sales numbers.
3.) can you scan directly into Access
How to start planning the design off the database as I know this is almost the most important aspect of a database.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some Databases that were created back in Access 97 and have managed to upgrade these databases to work in Access 2013, fixing any modules and forms which broke when upgrading the databases.User access and permissions within the database were controlled by User Level Security (the Workgroup.mdw file) which is not secure anyway I guess, as someone could easily copy the entire database.
The database as it stands now works perfectly in Access 2013, however anyone can do anything with the database which is my main issue. Im wanting to limit access for certain forms / tables / reports to certain users, then out right deny other users from accessing the database.
Ive seen the SQL Server 2014 Migration Assistant for Access, which looks to store the tables on SQL server then map these to the Access database, so i guess i could deny certain users from accessing tables that way, or only allow them to read the tables. However I'm not sure how that would lock them out of certain forms / reports and queries in the databases?
How can I make a warning pop up when a user tries to access a database that another user is already in??
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a database whereby users already have to sign in with a username and password, using a form which them allows them to view a front page. The front page allows them to access data and add/amend it.
I now have to adjust this setup as we have directors who want to view the system, but we don't want them to amend it.
Is there anyway to change the current setup that I already have or do I have to scrap it and start again?
I am developing a database for a company with about 10 users of the DB each using the DB on their own PC/Mac.
The workplace does not have a network. All work is done and stored on their own computers. They do not have a server either.
They do have a BT Business Hub providing broadband both wired and wirelessly.
The database is built using Access 2010.
I need to set up user groups/permissions on the database so certain staff can only see certain forms/tables etc...
What are my options here?
There is money available to buy a server or whatever. But ideally if there is another way of storing it and doing it, then I would like to give that a try.
I was reading somewhere you can use the Hub to create a small network, is this possible? And if so, whats the set up process for this?
In my database there are fields of type Date/Time, their default value is set to now(). But the problem is that those fields are automatically filled up by English system date. I want my own country's date format, without changing my system date format. So I decided, whenever database is opened it should ask for a date, so the user will give today's date and that date will be used automatically on those fields.

Now i have an Access 2013 file on my computer (with office 2013 and windows 7) other users have office 2007 and windows (XP) on their computers. now i want to give a copy of this file to other users without save as that to 2007.
I would like to know how i can do that with creating an application shortcut , if it is possible because in the book I could not find the way if there is?
I have created a database and made the steps to the user-level security and VBA protected the project but i lost the passwords and the MDW file.
is there any way to reset the VBA pass then reset the security level?
