I have a 2 unbound text boxes.1 populates the id number from a table.I want the other to display the first name where this id occurs. I am currently putting this in the control source of the seconded textbox

I currently have a DLookUp formula in a Text Box Control Source. It returns the value I am looking for, however, the value will not add to the record. I have tried putting the DLookUp formula in the Default Property, but it is not working.It is a multi-criteria DLookUp, where the criteria is entered into the form.

I am trying to create a form with multiple combo boxes where users can select fields from my main database and click a button to generate a report based on their selections. I think I am supposed to create a generic report with perhaps 4 fields where I would link the four combo boxes to. The issue is I cant seem to get the selection of the combo box to change the field that the report should pull from the database. I think I am supposed to use dlookup in the reports control source for each field, but I cant seem to get it to work.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 3 text boxes on a form each of which gets their values from different queries using DLookup this is functional but only when I click on the text box its self, I have tried using the "On load" & "On current" to requery the textbox (Text38 as control name) but no luck,, another strange thing i've noticed, when I have the form open in access and i click on my taskbar, thus switching windows from access to the desktop but keeping access in view, all text boxes are calculated immediately.

JobName is the field I want to show from the table Jobs.
I have a combobox containing the "Field Names" of a table called "Main" Also, I have a report called xyz which only has one field.
All I want, whatever field name user selects in the combo, report displays the results of selected field name only.
example
Main Table has three fields (Fie1, Fie2 and Fie3) The combo box lists the names of all three fields (Fie1 to Fie3) Report has a textbox in the detailed section.
I want user to select the field name from combo click button to generate the report (lets say if user selected Fie2) and want textbox to list all the records of Fie2
i tried [Forms]![Fm1]! [cm1] but it is listing the field names not the values in the field...
My question is in Access 2010 I am currently in the property sheet at a combo list i just added to a form to be more precise with the data the user will look for. My question is I know I have to be in Control source in order for the combo box to select the data that I entered from the table. When i click the arrow the drop list is empty and then when I click the elipses (three dots) it takes me into expression builder, so i am confused on what I should do to select the field I want the combo box to focus on.

i have a list box with 6 columns. in column 6 there is a time field. on selecting this list box i want to set the value of a combo box to the time field.
so in the control source i put
[Forms]![frmAppointmentTreatmentItems]![comboTreatmentDuration]
This has no effect. I am not sure if i have done this correctly. but the combo box has manual values in it. the reason i want to have values in it is so if the treatment is 45 minutes at default. But i want to change it to 30 minutes just for a single occasion then i thought that this would be the way to do it.

I have created the field on the table, and now i want to attached it to the check box on a form however when i go down the list of control sources i cannot see it.
I am trying to create a image based off a drop down result. I have had no problem with setting up a image based off a static number. e.g 0456432 in the student id field will bring up students photo in the network share.
What I am having an issue with is the control source will look for a number instead of the name that the drop box displays. this is due to a separate table for the drop box.
what is the expression i need to make in order for the name to appear from the dropbox rather than the source id number?
I have an unbound form with three tabs. On each tab there is a sub form. Each tab is a search form and each sub is a results returned. I have made everything unbound and set the sub form recordsource and its controls control souce on afterupdate of the main form search criteria. Works fine except for after some use the db decides the sub forms are not unbound and sets the record source and control sources.

but this does not seem to work in actualy removeing the record source and control source.
I added a new field to one of my tables and query, but when I try to add a control for that field into my form it is not recognising it and the field isn't appearing in the sources for the form, even though the table is sourced to the form? Or am I going to have to do the usual and redo the entire form because I made a minor adjustment?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have table that I had to add a new field to which we update with a form. I tried to add a control for the new field but the field does not show up in the list for the control source. I am trying to add a list box to the form with a blank and 5 options.
I have attached screen shots of the table design and the form. The table has the field in datasheet view and I have manually entered a few entries in it but it still will not show in the control source for the form control. The top section of the form is where we enter and select the data for the new records. The bottom section (circled in red) autofills the matching record, from separate tables, for updating with the new entries.
I have added form controls for modified fields in the past so I am confused about why this is happening.
Database has a form on which the user is to select a PP Type. This is a choice of up to 8 different kinds of types. There is a table in the database that keeps track of what each of these types are, either a pallet or a case. I need to create an unbound text box on the form that will display wether the chosen Type is a pallet or case. I understand DLookUp is the way to go on this but I am having a problem with the where clause part of the code.
What I am trying to write here is display in the text box the "Pallet Case" field in the "PP Type TBL", where the "PP Type" field of the "PP Type TBL" is the same as the selection in the combo box name "Type". PP FRM is the name of the form I am working on and where the text box is as well as the combo box.
DLookup("[Pallet Case]", "[PP Type TBL]", "[PP Type] = " & Forms![PP FRM]![Type])
I get #Error in the text box. My confusion is how do I refer to the PP Type as it is int he PP Type TBL in the criteria?
Hi all, at the moment all of my field are control sourced. I heard there is a way whereby the field could be unbound and one button it the control source for them all. Im not entirely sure what this means or how to go about it. But i think it would solve the problem of if my users start entering data into a record and then decide to leave it, this record is automatically added to the table, with little or no data. As the data in the table is used for statistics, the table showing records which are not actually there is causing problems. Im not sure if i explained this well, but i would be grateful of any help. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a subform listing items for purchase. Some are services and are not taxable, some are products and are taxable.
So far, I am calculating the sales tax for each record (item paid for), based on whether the thing is taxable or not and putting that result in a text box (txtSales_Tax) on the form. Since these calculated amounts aren't stored in a field, I can't SUM them, since SUM only works on data in table fields. Can someone tell me how to get a total?
Otherwise, I'll get rid of txtSales_Tax entirely, if someone can tell me how to write a SUM function, as a Control Source, that includes an IIf, or a WHERE, so it only adds items where the yes/no field Taxable=True.
I've got an IIf with a SUM function in it but, even in the footer, that only works for the current record. I need a SUM that has a nested IIf or WHERE in order to include all the records.

is it possible to change the control source of an unbound text box ?
For example i have a textbox which simply displays the number of current records displayed i.e. =DCount("*", "queryname")
Now i wanted that with the click of a button (or something), i wanted to change it's controlsource to =DCount("*", "queryname2") ... however, as a result i got #name instead of the correct count.

I have created a new field in a Form and named the Control Source "Active". However, when I vew in Form View there is a "0" in the field and it also does not allow me to type anything in the field.

I'm creating an order form for a clinic.
Health-related services are not charged sales tax, but products are.
In order to have one subform to do the job (rather than one for non-taxable and one for taxable items), I'm trying to create separate running sums of taxable and not taxable items from the same query, but am not getting far. "WHERE" statements don't seem to be working in Control Source code.
Currently, there's a cboItem_Name that populates txtItem_Cost. There's txtQuantity and txtExtended_Price. All working fine. The cbo query includes whether the item is taxable or not, from a YES/NO field in the table.
I'm trying to get txtTaxable_Sub_Total to SUM[Item_Cost]*[Quantity] where [Taxable] = YES, but it ain't happenin'.......
Is there a better way to go about this, or can someone suggest correct syntax to me?

I have a search form with a list box that displays query results. Double clicking on a row in the list box opens a detail form with the detail of the selected record. The other way to get to a detail form is by clicking on a command button that displays the detail of each of the records in the query result, one by one.
The problem is that there are many more fields in the detail form than the query that is its' control source. Since the detail form displays an individual record, it seems like it should be able to go into the table and fetch the rest of the data. No?
I have created my query based on a table in order to find how many data are in the list, then I have added a textbox in one of the form and I added this line in the control source:
SELECT AcademicAudioCount.Total FROM AcademicAudioCount;
This is what I get: #Name?
But its not working, any help.

i have manually built my form in Access 02. Now i want to bind a particular control to a table - ie. when the user hits 'Submit' the record will get written to the correct tables. simple data entry
i have a table called tblShipping, in which there is a field called Goods. in the control source i have the expression: =[tblShipping]![Goods] but this is not working. in the text box (in normal view of my form) appears: "#Name?"
what am i doing wrong?
