General :: Export XML Out Of Access Database

Apr 17, 2013

I am new to access, and am having trouble getting a correct export of XML out of an access database. I am not sure if it is a schema setup or something else.

I have attached a file that shows the format that is coming from access (Bad Format) and the format I am needing (Correct Format).

Export An Access Database Structure (i.e. No Data)?

Jan 30, 2007

If I want to duplicate just a table, I can easily select "structure only" under paste options. Is there an easy way to do the same thing for an entire database (tables, queries, etc.) all at once?

In short, someone has a database. They're willing to share the database itself, but not necessarily its contents. The database has a user interface, so the people who use the database don't necessarily know much about Access. Therefore, I can ask them to follow a few basic, built-in Access menu options, but can't ask them to do something manually, such as copying the entire file and then manually emptying the tables. This seems like something that should be easy, but I can't find it. Any help?

Thanks,

Rhythm

General :: Access 2007 Many-to-many Relationships Export To Excel?

Jul 18, 2014

how to export Access' many-to-many relationships in excel.

My database is a Project portfolio management tool. One project has many different fields, some of which can only be single values (one-to-one, easy to export to excel) and many others are multiple values fields, built as many-to-many relations (through junction tables).

One usage that was not specified at database creation time was the ability to export the portfolio to excel, so non-access-savvy users can browse, filter, sort and play with the portfolio however they want.

If I build a report, it will contain as many sub-reports as there are junction tables, rendering it un-exportable to excel. A Form would have to be continuous, barring the use of sub-forms for the m2m relations.

Building a query will generate many lines per project (as many as the most populous multiple field), making the excel sheet nearly unusable (in my users opinion, and here, the client's the king).

The best route I have been exploring so far involves "transforming" the multiple fields, so a the different "rows" become additional "columns".

General :: Export Modified Records From Access To CSV File

Feb 25, 2015

I have an existing Access Database which has a lot data, new records get added every day and a few are modified as well.

I need to write a script/query/exe which will get modified records(since last execution of same script etc.) from Access and export them to a CSV file.

My problem is getting those modified records.. Is there any default timestamp field in Access which can be used? Or do I have to add a new timestamp column for every table?

General :: Cannot Use ODBC To Import From / Export To / Or Link To External Microsoft Access

Mar 16, 2014

I am trying to create an ODBC link to a copy of the Northwind data base.I am running Win7 on a 64 bit operating system but am keeping office running as 32 bit for Access, Excel , Visio etc due to the fact that I have a lot of old apps tied to them.

When I attempted initially to create a new system DSN ODBC connection it only allowed me to use SQL drivers. (No plurry good) So after some searching I found out that I could use a file in C:WindowsSysWOW64 called "odbcad32.exe" which has allowed me to view /use the total list of drivers to import data.So I can set up a DNS ODBC named Northwind1 and I can access the database without problems using Excel. However if I try to use the same ODBC link in Access to connect to Northwind1 I get the following error message:"You cannot use ODBC to import from export to, or link an external ?Microsoft Access or ISAM database table to your database".

General :: Export Access Table To Multiple Excel Workbooks With Multiple Tabs

Dec 13, 2012

I am using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I need to have VB script to export the access table 502 records by 38 fields into Multiple Excel workbooks each having multiple tabs. In the Access table each record has two fields: Div and Tab that will be used to name each workbook and each tab (sheet). There are 6 unique "Div"'s to name the 6 workbooks and there are several "Tab" names for each Div (workbook).

Note: These 6 workbooks with multiple tabs were originally imported into Access from one common folder on my desktop by this routine:

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim blnHasFieldNames As Boolean, blnEXCEL As Boolean, blnReadOnly As Boolean
Dim lngCount As Long

General :: How To Set Up Access Database As Back-end Only

Aug 8, 2015

I plan on using Excel as the front-end and Access as the back-end only. (all queries and forms are in Excel). A single Access database will be queried from multiple Excel files that will be located on the share drive (Linux server). Access tables contain memo, text and number fields. Data will be sent to Access tables and records will be appended/deleted; all via Excel.

There will be multiple users interacting with a single Access database via multiple Excel files located on the shared drive. Users will be interacting from different workstations with Windows 7, all have Access 2010 and Excel 2010 installed.

This process works for me from my workstation but I am not sure what will happen when other 4 people will be sending/appending/deleting records to the same Database? How do I make this work? What settings do I need to check in Access to make this possible?

General :: Allow Users To Access A Database

Oct 27, 2012

I am about to allow users to access a database I redesigned for others to use.I am trying to save it as an ACCDE so they can't mess it up. The database is very very simple.6 tables each with only 4 fields or less... and none are related to one another

7 forms.
1 report.
0 queries... it's just a SKU generator.

When I attempt to save as ACCDE I get an error that reads."Microsoft Access was unable to create the .accde, .mde, or .ade file. This error is usually associated with compiling a large database into an MDE file.* Because of the method used to compile the database, a considerable number of TableID references are created for each table.* The Access database engine can only create a maximum of 2048 open TableIDs at one time.* Exporting a database as an MDE potentially can exceed this limit if the database has a large number of objects (table, macro, form, report, etc).

There is no accurate method to estimate the number of TableIDs the Access database engine uses during the process of compiling a database as an MDE.* However, each VBA module and each form uses one TableID, as a result, if the database has 500 forms, and each form's HasModule property is set to Yes, as many as 1,000 TableIDs are used."

General :: Error When Splitting Access Database

Feb 15, 2013

I have created a db for a nonprofit counseling org. I had created the first half, mostly administrative tasks, called Phase1, and put the BE on a network drive and the FE on multiple users. Now in developing the clinical portion, Phase2, I linked to four of the tables in Phase1 BE file.

Now I tried to split Phase2 the same way as Phase1 and got an error "Subscript out of Range". I think because of already having some external links in it. I checked for the file and Access actually created the BE file for the new phase2, all of the tables are in it minus the four I was linking to. But, access didn't create a FE file. The original still has all of the objects, tables and forms etc. My question is; can I link to the tables in the new BE file even though those tables still exist in the original file?

General :: Website To Get Data From MS Access Database?

We have all our department's policies in a MS Access database on our server. Some of these policies need to be made available to the public on our website. I'm wondering if there's a way for the website to pull directly from the database rather than having to manually upload the policies to the site every time they change (annually, semi-annually).

General :: Limit Access To Database To Few Users

Aug 16, 2013

I am using Access 2007. My boss has given me a project to create a tool for our team. I'm done with most part of the project, but for the last part I want editing and updating of database restricted to a few members of our team. However others can access the database and run queries etc. through buttons on a form.

I went about creating a login form for users to get access to the database and in turn created a table with fields UserID, UserName, UserPW and a yes/no field titled IsAdmin. For those who would be limited access would log in as 'Other' user and same as password. I am then using the code to determine if the user should be treated as admin or not by looking up the IsAdmin field in the table. Following is what I have so far, but it needs correction some places and I can't figure where:

Private Sub cmdLogin_Click()
Dim xxAdmin As String
'Check to see if data is entered into the UserName combo box
If IsNull(Me.cboUser) Or Me.cboUser = "" Then
MsgBox "You must enter a User Name.", vbOKOnly, "Required Data"

[Code] ....

General :: Split Database Access FE And SQL Server BE

Mar 4, 2014

I am currently working on an application where I am using MS access as my FE and working with linked tables to SQL server BE. I also have a few temp tables within Access that are not linked but needed.

1. What are my steps into making this into a SPLIT DB? I am assume the BE will have my linked tables from SQL and the FE will have my temp tables and forms. Is this correct?
2. Once I split it, then I can make an .ACCDE file for a Mulit User environment, is this correct?

What other steps should I be made aware of?
