View RepliesDoes anyone know how to import or link files from the Quickbooks Timer program? I've tried changing it to a *.xls file extension and that didn't work, tried linking vs. importing, etc.
Any suggestions?
I created a simple macro using the Export with Formatting action to export a table from access to excel. The dates in the excel file are not in the original format of the dates in the access file.How can I save the date and other formats when I export an access table to excel ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a database witch includes a continuous form (named frmExport). It could be very useful for me if i can find a way so to export data from access 2007 and then to import them into a word file.
Please note: The access data will be inserted into word table.
I am trying to create an ODBC link to a copy of the Northwind data base.I am running Win7 on a 64 bit operating system but am keeping office running as 32 bit for Access, Excel , Visio etc due to the fact that I have a lot of old apps tied to them.
When I attempted initially to create a new system DSN ODBC connection it only allowed me to use SQL drivers. (No plurry good) So after some searching I found out that I could use a file in C:WindowsSysWOW64 called "odbcad32.exe" which has allowed me to view /use the total list of drivers to import data.So I can set up a DNS ODBC named Northwind1 and I can access the database without problems using Excel.However if I try to use the same ODBC link in Access to connect to Northwind1 I get the following error message:"You cannot use ODBC to import from export to, or link an external ?Microsoft Access or ISAM database table to your database".
I have a database where I need to import data from an excel file.
What my employer needs me to do is upon appending the data to a table which I named properties, under the field which I called owner, all the names should follow the correct format. Most of the inputted data does not follow the correct format.
The correct format of the names should be:
K. CURTIZ -> Where K is the initial of the First Name, it should have the '.' and a space before the Family Name
Here's an example of a data that is inputted incorrectly:
R OTTESON -> it should be R. OTTESON
another example where there are 2 names of 2 different persons, it should be inputted this way:
A. & J. PANAG
Mostly inputted incorrectly this way:
J&T BOTIFAN -> it should be J. & T. BOTIFAN
I have a standard form with header, detail, and footer sections.
The detail section has a range of calculated boxes and the footer section also has a range of calculated control boxes.
There is a button on the form, which runs the following code:
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputForm, "Divisions", acFormatXLS, "C: ester.xls", False
This works as far as exporting the Detail section of data. However, as soon as it trys to export the footer section, it just appends them onto the end of the rows.
For example, the report lists:
ABCD 10 20
DEFG 20 30
Totals 30 50
The excel spreadsheet after export lists
Controlbox name Controlbox name Controlbox name cbn cbn
ABCD 10 20 30 50
DEFG 20 30 30 50
Is there a way to:
(a) correct this in the export;
(b) format the spreadsheet;
(c) alternative, e.g. drag the data in from a sppreadsheet ?
Hello everyone.
I've been in a new position for a new company for less than three weeks, and I need some help.
The Access database that we use has been in operation since 2002, and it has never been Compacted/Repaired (I asked my coworkers and supposed IT people, and they said "what's that?").
After adding *one* new field, I've reached the horrific "error 3190" (max 255 fields).
I've tried all of the following, allowing at least 12 hours for them to run, but I cannot:
export the data to Excel
import the data into a new database
copy/paste the records (because there are 12100+ and the max is 9500, I think; and because of the way the dd/mm/yy converted itself to dd/mm/yyyy)
or rename the table with the data.
Please, someone help me.
I am creating a ImportExportData macro that will link to my tables in the BE
However the BE has a password. I was told this would require coding.
I have even tried to 'convert macro to VB' and i get this:
Code:
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c: est.accdb", acTable, "Table1", "Table1", False
I then tried to enter the password in the last segment (StoreLogin) ie:
Code:
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c: est.accdb", acTable, "Table1", "Table1", False, "PASSWORD"
but that didn't work either, i got a "An expresiions you entered is the wrong data type for one of the arguments"...
I saw a demo that the user could copy and paste a JPG format file physically to ACCESS, and then something happened, and ACCESS could read the JPG length and width size (e.g. 1.3 meter length and 1.15 meter width) into 2 individual ACCESS cells which is acted the same as user input to that 2 clells.

In the example below I need the Estimated Material Cost to export in in format: 500.00 --- NOT 500.

Hello,
Does anyone knows how can I export the export/import specifications (which file/directory) and how can I import/export the specifications between different versions of Access. Thanks!
I am trying to import my data from a csv file, but I don't need all the data and the format of the csv is not very straightforward.
For some background information, the csv file contains bucket weights from a mining loader which are recorded with the corresponding timestamp, which is in a binary format. The file also contains a marker to tell me which loading unit it came from as the name of the file is the same regardless of which machine it comes from. The format of the file is out of my control. The file is a standard weekly download and I would expect to see the same type of file from at least another 5 machines.
If you look at the attached example csv in Excel, I need to pull out the information in columns B and C but only from row 29 down. The rest of the information above this is machine information only. What I also need to do is associate these records so I know that they came from the unit number which is shown in cell B5.
Also, how can I then convert the binary time to standard date/time format? This is the formula I use through Excel to convert it "= ((LEFT (D29, 10)/86400) +25569+8/24)"
My end result is to be able to run a report which shows the bucket weights for a particular unit in a user selectable time frame.
i have access 2013 and when i try to export data to excel with "Analyze data in excel" when the file is open i excel i get this error message file error: some data may have been lost". (and a whole row has not been export)
i tried to fix this file with excel open and repair option and i click on "extract data" but then i got this message;
Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.
Excel found errors that may cause some recovered data to be put in the wrong cells.
I am receiving this file from a supplier to import as a table. The issue is I cant figure out a good way to display the info for each invoice because there are multiple rows corresponding to each invoice number. I wanted to build some type of form where I could search an invoice number and it would pull up the standard invoice format to print such as inv.#, mailing address, linedesc amount and costs of shipping each item. I cant figure out how to get the invoices that have multiple line items to display in a nice format though.,,
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to automatically import student data from excel into an access relational database structure to use the data to report progress in an ongoing manner.I have managed to import an excel sheet with the raw data and I analysed it through the wizard and have produced a clean relational database with the data.
I was wondering, now that I have the access database structure defined, is there a way to now import new data from another excel file (new data with same headers) to the newly created relational database? I was hoping to append to the existing data with only new data from the excel sheet.
I have an excel file with Student names and what units they are enrolled in. I also have fields where results are shown with the date. So the data looks like:
Joe Bloggs Unit1 PP 1-01-2013
Joe Bloggs Unit2 PP 1-01-2013
Joe Bloggs Unit3 PP 1-01-2013
I have attached a picture showing the structure of the relational database that works.
I created a form for adding new data to an existing database and it worked just fine.
Today the form has decided to add time to the date field and this clashes with the table it import to.
Why/how it's changed the date format and how to change it back?
Is there a way to import data to Excel from Access without retaining the link ?
I have a table and two queries (from that table) that I wish to export to a specific (Templated) Excel file.
I want to send the data to the Excel file then be able to subsequently copy and paste and email the file without any data connections etc.
Alternatively : to export from Access to the templated excel file.
I have a table having column as date, format as mm/dd/yyyy and i update the column as now() using VBA.
However some places the date is in mm/dd/yyyy and in some mm/dd/yyyy nn:mm:ss are appearing which is making the filtering of the data ambiuge.
I just created a database and need to connect it to the data source. The data comes from a http website (intranet from work). When I open the link using firefox, I can view the website with the data in it, but when I open it from Internet Explorer, I get a save as pop-up message to save a csv file which contains all the data. The extension of the http website ends with csv. So it is something like http (slash slash...) Intranetname/referral_dbase.csv
Currently, I am opening the file using firefox, copying all the data manually, and pasting it in a text file using notepad. After that, I import the file into access. The delimiter of the data is this symbol: |
I am trying to find a way to link my database to the website where the data is located so that I can skip the manual process of opening the website and copying the data and saving it into a text file and then importing that file into access. I was thinking to have like a form in access with a bottom that will automatically import that data from this link and paste it into a table in access using the delimiter symbol mentioned above.
Is this too complicated? Is it even possible in access 2010?
Managed to export a table to csv file. The problem I now have is I need to add the following Text at the start of the file:-
H,LKJ85485524,DE
and the new last line :- T,whatever the record count is,2
Whether this info is added before or after export is not important.
I have even resorted to using VBA to create an Excel spreadsheet and saving to csv.
Thought this had cracked it however I had surplus commas at head and footer where the original csv file had additional columns (ok manually delete these comas) ,then found that the end of each csv line was missing a final comma that is needed by the recipient of the file.
I have a table with below fields and content:
container_nr_no Type time
AAAA1233456 210 12:30
BBBB1222234 45g1 13:30
And I would like to generate a output text file like below:
FLD00101=1
FLD00102=AAAA1233456
FLD00103=210
FLD00104=1230
FLD00201=2
FLD00202=BBBB1222234
FLD00203=45G1
FLD00205=1330
FDL00.... should be generated automatically, starting with 101 for 1st container and 201 for 2nd and so forth. The output should be in vertical manner.
how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.Like we have some codes for linking excel file to database mentioned below;
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acLink, , "region", "F:DB PracticeBook1.xlsx", False, "region"
Can we have something like this to link database table in excel file automatically.So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.
I want to make a database of diseases (need to learn them for school and would like a serchable database on my smart phone for future reference).
Unfortunately spent a lot of time making hundreds of pages of word tables before i realized a database would be better. See attached image or pdf. Is there a way to import the tables to Access?
I need to preserve the hierarchic info in the nested bullet point lists. E.g. under treatment i might have a point called Acute treatment, with sub-levels, Step 1, Step 2, etc. with their own sub-levels. I need to maintain this relational hierarchic info.
hi,
I'm having a small but annoying problem exporting data to excel and then importing it back..
The problem is that when i export a table to Excel - it changes the date format from dd/mm/yy (which is what i have in Access) to DD-MMM-YY (automatically in Excel)
This proves to be a problem because when i import the spreadsheet back Access gives me a data type conversion error.
Its easily solved manually by changing the field in excel to dd/mm/yy format but annoying as the user will have to do this everytime they export and import!
Any suggestions??
Thanks in Advance..
Who can help me out?? :confused:
I am looking for 2 scripts
1) for exporting an existing table with data to an seperate MDB file
(filename to be given by user using a dialogbox)
2) importing the MDB file (from question 1) back into the existing table in
the original database. Script does not have to worry for dublicate data.
