General :: Filtering Results Outside Of Standard Deviation
Oct 16, 2014
I am trying to create a query that filters results only outside of 1 standard deviation of the mean. Is there an option for this in the criteria spot? I'm fairly new to Access and I'm not sure if I can reference a particular cell in the criteria.
I've created a database to keep track of all our Microsoft licences for the company. Just to make sure we're fully licenced, to allocate where needed, and to help reallocate when we replace a pc.
I have 2 tables, 1 hardware (listing PC ID,location etc.) and 1 software (listing software type, software licences, and to which PC ID allocated).
What i'm trying to do is filter the pc's missing either an Office licence or a Windows licence or both, so i can base a report on the results.
I made a form that lets users search for records in a database and displays them in another form. In that form I've made 3 buttons to let users narrow down the results to show only certain items within the search results.
Now, 2 of the buttons show specific items and the third one toggles the form to display all the records. So lets say I'm filtering records by whether or not they contain the words "car" and "truck." If a record has "car" but not truck and I click the button to sort by "truck" then the search result goes blank, which is ok. But if I click "car" or "show all" to display everything again then the search result stays blank.
This doesn't happen with records that contain both "car" and "truck."
For every button I have something like this: DoCmd.OpenForm "AdminSearchResults", , "SOW", "VendName = '" & VendName & "'", , , "'VendName'"
I know my explanation may suck, but if anyone can help me, that would be great, lol
I am using a form in which i am filtering the results in the list box based on the textbox value. I am dynamically switching 3 row sources for the list box.
My Need is that the results produced in the listbox should get filtered again when typing in the second text box i.e based o the country name.
I have three machines. They all have random variations, but a machine could also have a static deviation. If the last 4 values are above 0, the deviation is considered static and should be corrected. In this example 111 has a static deviation
Nowadays the operators look at the graphs and when they observe the static deviation they will adjust it.
Question is: Is it possible to use a query to extract 111? In that case I can give operator a warning in stead of him looking at the graph.
Is there a way to search for a term within a form and goto a record that matches that term assuming there was only one matching result (Unique ID, for example).
But NOT filter the results so that user can still navigate as usual after the search has been carried out.
I have a crosstab query. There is a field for row headings that specifies QUARTER (Q1,Q2, Q3,Q4) and another field for row headings that specifies YEAR(2015,2016,...etc)
I want to be able to have the user input the criteria in to a box and filter the crosstab query to then display the filtered results.
Right now on my column headings I have MONTH.
When I try to reference the form in the criteria, I always get the error
"The Microsoft Database Engine does not recognize ..... as a valid field name or expression"
Does this mean that you can not filter crosstab queries?
I'm taking my first database class and I'm working on a hospital project in which I need to determine which pair (one doctor and one nurse) has a decremental performance as weeks go on.
I would like to find what pair had a "Good" result in week 1, "Average" in week 2, and "Bad" in week 3. My problem is that the results need to be in this specific order.
The professor told us to use a formula and I got the solution after building 6 queries that involved union, difference, and cartesian.
I have a form on which I use combo boxes to filter a listbox using the following code.
Private Sub FilterpartsList() Dim strRS As String ' Filter the list box appropriately based on the combo box selection(s) strRS = "SELECT partsquery.partname, partsquery.Heritage, partsquery.Description FROM partsquery" If Not IsNull(Me.cbomodelID) Then strRS = strRS & " WHERE modelID = " & Me.cbomodelID
So I have a Tab control. Each tab is assigned to a specific user (which is controlled through another form). So If I assigned Page1 to Smith then Page1 caption reads Smith. Within each page is a list box that is filtered based on what name is in the caption. This works perfectly. My problem is I have another list box that is not within the tab control. I wan this to be filtered based on what tab is active. Both list boxes are bound to a query.
I have tried to find this on the forum but it seems all the answers are to do with manipulating the strings based on what the postcode is whereas I just want to extract the postcode as a separate string as simply as possible.
Basically, I have a text field called Add5 which has the last line of the address including the postcode.
Example: "Northampton NN1 7PQ"
I am trying to end up with two strings like this
Add5 = "Northampton" Postcode = "NN1 7PQ"
I only need to do this in one place, I don't think it needs a module.
In one record (or row?) there I have 10 fields (columns), how can i find the standard deviation of those 10 numbers. Seems to only want to be able to do standard deviation if all data is in one field or column. I tried doing a query but same thing, if all the fields are across, it doesatn find the standard deviation of them. Please help this worthless access user. Thank you, I look foward to all the help I can get. As you can see, I still am struggling with even terminology. Excel is easy to me, access is a challenge to say the least.
the standard value for the yes/no datatype = no..I try to set the standard value to yes but I can not be allowed for yes ? how do I set it to yes ? I have open the table, then I could not change to yes.
I have a combo box which is used to find a record on the form. I have set LimitToList = Yes and put in code for the event NotInList.
My problem is that my code is working fine allowing me to produce my own message, but then the standard message appears as well saying "The text you entered is not an item in the list"
 I have a note field in a table for short description of a building parts. Is it posseble to make some standard text in a form with a "values" between the text to choose from? Like: This building is from "text field for input" The roof is made of "a combobox with 4-5 items to choose from".
The standard text with the choosen values should then be sent to a note field at submit.
Like: This building is from 1945 The roof is made of tegl
From a form build a report using standard paragraphs using a combo or list box . Paragraphs may vary in length but must format correctly on the report. NO SPACES MUST BE LEFT BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS. Also the form must allow editing of the standard paragraph. ie where there is perhaps a change of name etc: ALSO is it possible to exceed the 255 characters in a text box ?
Hi I am getting fed up of repeatedly modifying the basic new form in Access 2003 since I hate Tahoma and I never want dividing lines and I always want the VBA to be Option Explicit and I have my own ideas on colour schemes etc. etc. Every new form I enter I have to make all the changes manually and simply wondered if I am being an ass. I can modify templates in Word and Excel so if I could do the same thing in Access I could save myself cumulative hours of work. I cannot seem to find anything so does everyone else bow to what Microsoft think a form should look like or do you all do what I do and endlessly recreate the same starting point for each form??? Any pointers would be 110% wonderful!! Best wishes
I know that a public constant is available to all subs and modules. I also know that you can only declare these in a module, you can't for example declare these in the form.
So how what is the best way of declaring them?
At the moment I just have a module that has nothing else except for the 3-4 constants that I use throughout all my forms. Is that ok?
I need to restrict the random autonumber feature to 10 digits and a positive number for a primary key. I work in the medical field, and HIPAA privacy regulations require the use of random ID numbers to identify records. Also, I need the numbers to be positive numbers because we will be using barcode scanning equipment and the possibility of truncating the negative identifier creates the possibility (admittedly remote) of having a duplicate PK barcodes. I understand that we cannot change the Access feature, but any VBA code to generate a truly random 10 digit positive number I can use as a PK?
I've built a system with around 20 tables in it. All of these use the standard ID field offered by default by Access as the primary key. A friend with a background in database design and development for large corporates using Oracle has reviewed the database (he is going to do some VBA programming for me) and suggested that we use more appropriate primary keys based on data attributes.
He has read "somewhere" that there are problems with the standard ID fields and that occasionally the fields are renumbered/reindexed and that this can cause problems. There are a fair number of queries and some complex forms which will need to be updated for these changes but it would be a shame to go through all this work if it isn't really.
Should we use the standard Access IDs and is it worth a chunk of effort to change from where we are now?
