General :: Front End Support For MS Access Login Form?
Aug 3, 2015
I have created a Login form in Access Database in which the users can log in to enter the work information like how much time and which job they worked on particular day , this data is stored in a table . How can make the users to use this form , I dont want to access to be installed on every machine..I want to give something like a URL so that the users can use it..
which software I can use for creation of website so that it can be compatible with ms access ...I basically need to create a front end application and connect ms access my project in the back end scenario..
I have distributed my front end on the shared drive for users to copy to their desktops.
In one form I have a formula in the query that show's the word 'Gap' if any of the 15 questions on the form is equal to 'fail'. It runs on current when the user is in a record it shows the word 'Gap' at the top header part of the form.
When the user opens the form they get an error message pop up that says "The expression On Current you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events."
Once they click 'ok' they are able to work in the form until they attempt to filter records by their name it pops up again.
I've tested on my end and no errors or issues come up.
I have a table called "tblEmployees" with columns "EmpName, EmpPassword, strAccess" in my table
The login form works but I wanted the user to go to a specific form that would be designated under strAccess
I have this code but it totally wrong to what I want it to do but not sure where to start
'Close logon form and open relevent page Dim stDocName As String stDocName = Forms!CopyfrmLogon!cboEmployee.Column(3) DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName
[Code] ....
"stDocName = Forms!CopyfrmLogon!cboEmployee.Column(3)" - this is the line that needs to be debugged ... I need something that says open form specified in the the column "strAccess" of the "tblEmployee" tables
I have access 2010, I currently have a database in place and operational. What I am wondering is there a way to have a form come up whenever someone opens access and asks for a password and login name. Also I would like to have a 2 tier system. One for Admins and the other for users with limited access.
I'm working on a login form and *not thinking* I removed access to the submenu. I had already set the form up so that you either login correctly or exit the program. I'm working in code for the form and I know it's possible to reactivate the menu in code, I just don't know how. And I can't switch to design mode. The form is set up to not allow anything to happen until the correct login has been entered, and I either had a typo when I set up my test login or the program is bugged and only says it's incorrect....
Simply put, I have a front end that does a bunch of file moving and if it encounters an error and stops processing (which is intentional) I am the only that can login to the machine and fix it.
Is there any way to run it that would allow others to login on their own user profile, solution the problem, and start the processing again or am I stuck to a "per profile" instance?
When converting the Front End of my database to an MDE, Access just hangs and says (Not Responding). I've left it our an hour and there's no sign of stirring. The Back End converts in just a second or so.
I was successfully using a front end and back end setup for the past two years. Today I needed to push through some changes and "deactivate" the previous back end database and setup a new back end database. The new back end database has been sent; however the front end is not recognizing the back end database anymore. I need to re-link the existing front end to the back end database - I cannot import the front end into a "fresh" file because I put a password on the VBA Editor.
I was looking to see if there was an easy way to create a user front end desktop application for a small access database.I have three users on different computers i would like them to input or amend data within one table of the access database.
how i can get a current user from a custom login form CurrentUser() this function always return a system user name admin as default. In my login schema i have a Hidden splash form that have a unbound field that holds user name from custom login form after login a dashboard execute and also display user name on dashboard according to user login ,this working fine for mine. Actually i want to make a currentuser stamp in every entry when a record is entered in database.
I have a ms access application in Front End and linked tables to sql server 2008 r2 in back end.. every time I open my application the linked tables ask to me for the user and password of the sql server user of the odbc conection. I want to connect to my sql database without login every time the user open the application, I know that can be possible if I start session from vba code...
I have built an Access 2010 split database on my computer and it functions as built. My next step was to copy it to the server at work and test it. I discovered the tables had to be re-linked and so did that. As I have read in the Access World Forums in order to function as a multi-user database a copy of the front end must be placed on the individual workstation with the back end residing on the server, however the hyperlinks in the back end will not function when the copy on the workstation is run. I simply get an unable to open "filename" error pop-up. I can run the server copy and everything functions as built. I know that the hyperlinks require all the files to be in the same folder (relative vs. absolute), but if the back end contains all the hyperlinks why does the location of the front end seem to affect the operation of the back end?
Using Access's User and Group Accounts or Using a Login Form to access database?
I've been researching on how to make a database secure. How to create User and Group Accounts on access, I see the step by step instructions and tried it out myself.
I also saw some sites where they give an example of a Login Form and how to create one.
My question is do you need to create both. First create the users and groups to permit or deny access to certain forms and then have a login form?
But would that mean that they'd have to login twice? Once when the database opens because it activates the db security that was created and then login again in the login form that was created?
Also when the user logins in and clicks on the cmd button on the form which opens up another from, frmWorkLog, I have an Employee field. This field I want it to have the user's name entered automatically and "locked". So that info, employee name, is extracted from the user's login. So then the user can only see his or her records only and no one elses.
How would I go about creating that. Hope I made my explanation clear.
i am currently developing a database what i need to do is to restrict user to view selected record and change them. i have build a login form in which i have two areas as a user name in combobox and a password text box. i have another form in which i have a combo box named area what i need to do is to limit the area combo based on the selection of the user login form previously. for example if a user select LAS VEGAS in user combo and enters its password after clicking the button login the another form appears in which thier respective stores and sales are saved, their is a combo box named area in which i want to limit it by LAS VEGAS i mean it would only show LAS VEGAS in drop down based on the previous selection in login form.
i have created a login form that opens the home page when the correct credentials are entered. i would like to add an 'access level' so that when logging in the database checks the access level and opens the appropriate home page. (i.e. level one has selected options.. level three has admin)
i just need a code that checks what the users level is and then open home lvl#
(i.e. user level 1 - open 'home lvl1', user level 2 - open 'home lvl2 etc)...
I and trying to link to Outlook 2007 using the "External Data/More/Outlook Folder option and keep getting the "Object Class does not Support the Set of Events" error message.
I can link to a DBF and Paradox file without any problems.
I am running Office 2007 Professional and Access 2007 and Windows 10.
I have also done the following:
1. Removed Office 365 2. Decompiled the Access VBA code and corrected any issues 3. Compacted/Repaired the database
I have attached a screen shot of the references that I have selected.
This is a new setup as I recently purchased a new PC and Windows environment. I still have the old PC running Windows XP with the same configuration and it also experiences exactly the same error message.
i am having a login form. where i have only two users..may be 3 suppose it is admin and guest then i have a main form where i have 5 tabs,...where each tab contains 7 or more command buttons which will open some forms what i need is when the admin is login he should be able to edit add delete but if it is a guest then all the forms should be read only i know abt the allowaddition and etc..but i don't know where to use it.. is it in the login form or in the main form or in each and every form
Couple days ago our database was not opening, Access would open but show a blank workspace. Anyhow, we restored the database from Server and it worked on all 5 shared systems on company's network but this one computer. It is giving the error, "Object or class does not support the set of events."
I tried to copy new local folder but nothing. I checked the links and target folder it looks fine.
I tried to import the everything into new database but it said I don't have permission for that.
what's causing this issue and what can I do to fix it?
I have recently started a project and become stuck already. I have a login form created that works (code below). What i want to do is allow access to the users of 1-7 in table (level of access) which will determine which page they view after logging in. IE if the have Access in table "Users" as "1" then when they log in the will see a form thats called L1. Same with 2,3,4,5,6 & 7.
Code: Private Sub LoginButton_Click() If IsNull(Me.LoginUsernameText) Then MsgBox "Please Enter Username", vbInformation, "Username Required"
I want to create a database using MS Access that can be accessible by 80 users for information search purpose. At the same time at least 20 users out of 80 can make modifications. Need suggestion will that be possible in access.
The database will store in shared drive. Also want to know how to lock a record let say if user1 has access certain record for modifications than the second user can access database but not allow to modifying the record which is already under modification phase.
I've built and implemented an Access 2010 application for a corporate client. It's entirely menu driven, with no user access to the navigation pane. It's split with multiple BEs on a share drive and the FEs on individual PCs (distributed via Auto FE Updater). Two hundred users have been defined to the application but so far there are only up to 10 max concurrent users at a time.
The clients want to add more users to the system but after that will go into maintenance and support mode. The question is how much I should charge for the maintenance and support service on a monthly basis.
I'm not looking for a $ amount as much as strategies/guidelines for pricing. The clients anticipate using the application for about four years, at which point a new, corporate-wide application should be rolled out and my app will get replaced by it. They will probably need to convert the data from my app into the new app, and will want/need occasional enhancements to the system over the next four years as well.
I have used Combo box. security_level field is the one that describes their levels and there are only two levels 1 and 2.. I have a table called User (user_ ID, User_Name, Password, Security_Level) On form there is a combo box for user name and text box for password. Two command button where one is for EXIT (Closing the application) and the second button is to run the code.
if the password in table User matches value chosen in combo box or user name and password are correct Then it should check if Security_Level of the user is equal to 1 to displays a form called Admin and when the Security_Level of the user is equal to 2 to display a form called user1.All that I want is to have a login that has two user and each user when login opens his/her own form which is different from the other user.
I am thinking about creating a DB using Access for a business. However, my wife mentioned to me that her company is looking at software for database work and has some Access DB's they are trying to convert because, according to a technical support person, Microsoft intends on getting rid of Access as a DB! I am posting here to ask anyone, professional or otherwise, if anyone has heard that Microsoft intends to stop supporting or implementing Access. Is Access 2003 the last version? I haven't been able to find out anything along this line. I thought, maybe Microsoft is thinking about supplanting Access with SQL Server. Before I go to the toil of building a DB system in Access, I want to know I am not wasting my time doing it. If anyone on this forum has heard a thing about Microsoft dumping Access, please let me know. Thank you. :o
Hi, I have a database which contains fields with information in many different languages. I seem to lose my japanese content from time to time. I cut and paste the information from a Word document and paste it into an Access field. It seem to work and I get the japanese text pasted. But I have lost it and now I just have all text replaced by small squares. How can I retrieve my japanese text?? What should I be looking for if I want to maintain a database in MS Access using Japanese, Chinese and other foreign language text in it? Bjorn
