In this query I have setup I need to get my Dates field into short date format and another field needs to be with 0 decimal points. I take it there is code I have to enter but I cannot find it anywhere.
I created some forms in datasheet view. Now I want to change the datasheet properties (background color, text color...): the problem is that the forms I create with the new properties are displayed as I want, but the old forms are displayed with the old properties. Does it exist a command to open the old forms/subforms with the new properties or do I have to re-create all the old forms?
VBA syntax for changing various "Field Properties" on an EXISTING table. Specifically, the field properties I'm trying to change are:
Field Size (I want to make this 'Double') Format (I want this to be 'Standard') and Decimal (I want this to be '2') The Data Type is already set as 'Number'.
Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?
A member of the Access User Group that I am associated with has asked a question that I can't answer.
In older versions of Access, when you went from Form Design View to Form View, if the Properties Sheet had been visible, it would be hidden in Form View. Since probably Access 2000, the Properties Sheet remains visible in Form View (if it was opened in Design View). Not a big problem, you say? Well, it is to this person, who is concerned about her users seeing the Properties Sheet and making changes in it.
Anyone know a way to defeat this behavior and hide the Properties Sheet in Form View?
I am working in the design view of a form, the controls properties sheet disappeared-gone and even clicking the properties sheet button it does not come back.
ciao people i've been looking around for days, hope u can solve my problem!
my form is made up of several combo boxes i wanna write a code which after a selection in any combo box sets the properties of the latter as follow: enabled NO and locked YES (just the opposite of the default value)

I have a standard form but i would like it so that when a user clicks on the button from the main menu to open the form it changes the default view which i have set to data entry and change it to not data entry. Also another button to change its record source to a different query. Rather than make lots of different forms that have the same thing but for just different purposes.
If it is possible to change the format properties of a menu/toolbar could someone please point me in the direction of some guidance/ let me know how to go about it I would appreciate it.
Specifically I'm trying to change the menu bar's /database window's property to match my forms (and company branding).
I've Googled various phrases in both UK and US spellings (to be on the safe side) and searched a few forums (this one included) and cannot find much beyond creating customised menu/tool bars.
I am making a new Record in the design view of a table (creating a new field in the table), and I am assigning it a date type, is there a hotkey that will select the field properties sheet so that I can select the format of the field without having to move my mouse?
In a nutshell...I want to have a form open with the "form" properties set to "NO" on "AllowEdits","Allowdelete" and "AllowAdditions" and then those same properties set to "Yes" depending on who you are when you open the form. I think I got a handle on the "who you are" part, I am just not sure about the form properties stuff.
Hello, how can I change the "default" textbox properites.
When ever I place a new textbox on the form it has certain properties which I must always change.
For example I want all my textboxes to be flat not sunken and to have a solid border style. Currently the default is sunken and transparent border so I must always change it.
I know how to do it via VBA... just want to do it immediately using default.
Hi, I would like to change the properties of either the column heads in a combo-box or the column names for tables. I don't think there's any way to adjust the column head properties, and I'm doubtful there's a way to change the column caption properties.
Some of my column titles are long, and I'd like to be able to word wrap them essentially. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.
Is there anyway to change the criteria in a field without going into design view I bascially need to be able to type in a particular item in a certain field in a query and it return all the results for that one.
The database has over 160000 records and when I try using a form it takes forever.
I have a mainform with a listbox and a subform sitting in the mainform. The default view of mainform is single. The listbox displays a list of people. When the user clicks on a row of the listbox the subform shows detailed data about that person. The layout of the subform covers almost half of the area of the mainform. It works except that the subform automatically takes table view as if there were many records to display although it displays only the selected record. This automatic manipulation of the default view does not look good at all.
I have a table that contains many column but one of the columns is the "Collected Date". the dates entered in this column in in this format: 2013.10.28 however I to upload this table in another software to analyse, I need the date to be in this format: 10/28/2013 I already tried changing the format in the design view but since the format is currently in text it does not allow me to change the format into date!
I have created a form in Access 2010 that opens in view only mode. I do this as I do not want data being changed in error. There are times when the user may need to edit some data on the form.
Any way to place an "Edit" button on the form that allows the user to edit the current record? I thought about creating two sepasrate forms, but I really don't want to maintain two of them.
I have a form with a subform where I want to select (via button) which format to open the form in. Opening the form is simple, DoCmd.OpenForm (FormName),acFormDS to open in datasheet, however, the subform opens in default view (single form). Can you programmatically set the property on the subform to change the Default View from Single Form to Datasheet and back?
Here's a query that the bottom listview in the attached form i.e. a listview representing a table of calls(many) to fims (1 top listview)
Code: SELECT calls.id, calls.firm_id, calls.called, calls.said, calls.spoke_to, calls.next FROM calls WHERE (((calls.firm_id)=[firms].[id])) ORDER BY calls.called DESC , calls.next DESC;
When I run the thing...I get a dialog asking me for firm id.
I want to change this so when I move up and down the firms LV (top)... the bottom LV updates taking firm id from the top LV with focus.
