I did find this sample expression that I am using in another area and it is working perfect and I understand it works based off of string length.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

Apr 15, 2014I'm trying to pull a date from a table into a text box on a form tab control using DLookup and I just can't figure out what is wrong with my DLookup expression:
=DLookUp("DateOrdered","tDateOrdered","PrNumber=" & [PrNumber]) ----- (DateOrdered is short date, PrNumber is text, db is split Access 2013)
Whats missing in this expression? I've tried every criteria variant I could find but to no avail.

Dec 31, 2014I have a search form built that depending on the dropdown selection on the form, it will run a query to SQL Server 2008 and provide data. There are 5 SQL Server db's so there are 5 different queries. I have each SQL Server linked to the Access DB. When I moved to someones else's computer I got a ODBC Call Failed message. In order to fix this, I had to recreate the links on that person's machine, then change the SQL code in the query with the new name of the linked DB.

The database is functioning normally and without any problems but on particular computer. the systems are same (windows 7) with office 2010.I have a form with subform based on query. Changing the records in a subform is without any problems, but on one particular computar, I am allways receiving Write conflict error message. When I copy / paste the database from the wrong computer to another one, everything is OK. When I copy / paste it back to problematic computer, the problem is back also.It seems, that the problem is maybe somewhere in settings of this computer.

The "FunctionKey_SubForm" is a macro in this database.
It only does it on my computer when I opens this specific database.
This database works fine (copied it elsewhere) on everyone elses computer and also when I use it one another computer, whether the database is on the server or on the C: drive.
Since it works fine on all other computers, it's a setting in Access which is throwing up the error (even if it is " invalid syntax or is not allowed"), not the database.
Database works fine after I click through it but it's irritating and I don't recall changing anything.
Combobox To Display Result In A Text Field
Apr 12, 2006Hi All, I hope someone can help with this, I have 2 tables, 1 main table that holds all my part data ( ie part num, description, etc) and a second table with vendor info. On my Form I have all my fields that display the record. I placed a combo box on my form that I need the user to be able to select a vendor, which is working but I need the form to show the vendors part number in a field. The main table has a manufactures part number, and I have 3 fields that have my 3 vendors part numbers for that part in it. I have the combo box so that it shows the vendor name but how do I get it to look at a certain field for the vendor part number. Im still really new to Access and am clueless any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I have not explained this every well so I am attaching a sample of the DB so you can see that I have Thanks again

Numeric Field When Null Display Text

I have a field called PRICE and obviously it is a NUMERIC field as it need to perform calculations such as calculating Total Quantity * Price etc. At the moment the PRICE is inputted manually by the User on a Form and when it has no Price it is simple left blank.
What I wish to include is that on the REPORT when the field is empty it writes the text FOC instead of leaving it empty.
Can you please anyone suggest a way of doing this.

Memo Field Display & Convert Text When Exporting?
May 29, 2005I use a memo field in a form. This memo field is used to store "steps" for doing something.
To keep things neat, I use ENTER between the steps so there is a blank line between each. This looks good in the form, however... I export this information (from the table) to a CSV/text file to use online. My online script requires that each record occupy only one line. But, the exported file has separated the "steps" into multiple lines just as it appears on the form.
I would like to use the HTML tag <BR> to separate the line feeds in the CSV file. I can enter these in the FORM instead of pressing ENTER, but then the form looks bad - harder to read.
Is this possible to do with code or filters or ??

General :: Display PDF From OLE Field On Form
Feb 4, 2014I'm working on an existing 2010 database that has a table that stores PDF's in an OLE field. The boss wants to be able to see the PDF on a form along with the other fields in the database. He doesn't want the pdf to open up in a separate window in Adobe PDF viewer. He doesn't want to have to switch between 2 windows because he's comparing data from the other fields in the record to what's on the PDF. He doesn't have dual monitors and doesn't want that either.
when I put the PDF field on a form all I get is an ICON that has to be double clicked on to open but I need it to display the pdf or at leas part of the PDF so he can scroll down to view the whole pdf. I thought about using a subform or tabs and putting a web browser control to display the pdf. I've seen examples of how to set a web browser control URL when the pdf is in an attachment field but I haven't been able to find any examples of how to view the pdf in a web browser control or any code to actually show the pdf on the form from an OLE field.
I know storing the PDF in an attachment field is the best way to do this and I've let the boss know. My only task is to display it on a form and not to redesign the database.
Display Text From One Memo Field And Multiple Records In A Report
Apr 10, 2008I have an Access database where we grade reports. At the end of the grading form I have a memo field [Comments] for the grader to enter comments about why the report received the grade [Grade]. Each report is graded by multiple people. So for example, ReportNum 08-001 may be graded by 5 people and therefore will have 5 records in the database. I need a report to show all the comments for all the reports where the grade is <80. I know how to do this except for how to display all the comments from the memo field in the 5 records on one report for that ReportNum.

I have a Check in Date and a Check out Date. At the moment they are working perfectly using the Date/Time field. I want to change that field to a datepicker. I have found out how to insert the date picker and it works great when inserted on a new record BUT all the previous dates in the database change to the current date. Is there a way I can still display the previous dates in the field and also introduce a date picker?

In one database auto populates works with simple text box Control Source edit "=[ComboName].[Column](NumberOfColumn)".
Somehow same method doesn't wotk in different database: here one time I have to insert VBA code at On change Event:
Me.TextBoxName = Me.ComboName.Column(NumberOfColumn)
And other time it wont work with On change but only with After Update Event (code is same).
Another thing this morning happens was that when I tried to add new record trough form where combo box and tex boxes are located, MS Office suddenly stopped working after selecting combo box selection (with message Microsoft Office has Stopped Working). It is 2013 version.
I got it work after deleting and re-inserting VBA code to autopopulate text box at After Update Event.
