I have made a books-database in MS access. I want to publish it on my web site. It should be possible for the visitor that search different books on my database.
I am able to write HTML code (using MS FrontPage) but how make a search form and how would the HTML contact my database (book.mdb) on my web-server?
I have find some HTML code.. for search-form but here it is used kbook.asp what I don’t understand it . I have tried to replace kbook.asp with book.mdb, but it does not working.

Publish Products From Access On Website

May 28, 2006

I would love to publish my product catalog from my access database on a website. it should be a browsable catalog with search field on article number range, product group, product type and should be able to display product pictures.Within my access database i have a link to the product picture stored by filename. I'm looking for an easy solution to do this, i'm using mysql as database on my hosting provider.I can do the export to mysql myself (interfacing between access and mysql) but am looking for some hot software to display the catalog easily without programming the front website myself. I already have oscommerce installed but don't want a webshop and don't know how to disactivate all the features within oscommerce to only retain the article browsing. Thanks if you have a hint

General :: How To Set Up Access Database As Back-end Only

Aug 8, 2015

I plan on using Excel as the front-end and Access as the back-end only. (all queries and forms are in Excel). A single Access database will be queried from multiple Excel files that will be located on the share drive (Linux server). Access tables contain memo, text and number fields. Data will be sent to Access tables and records will be appended/deleted; all via Excel.

There will be multiple users interacting with a single Access database via multiple Excel files located on the shared drive. Users will be interacting from different workstations with Windows 7, all have Access 2010 and Excel 2010 installed.

This process works for me from my workstation but I am not sure what will happen when other 4 people will be sending/appending/deleting records to the same Database? How do I make this work? What settings do I need to check in Access to make this possible?

General :: Allow Users To Access A Database

Oct 27, 2012

I am about to allow users to access a database I redesigned for others to use.I am trying to save it as an ACCDE so they can't mess it up. The database is very very simple.6 tables each with only 4 fields or less... and none are related to one another

7 forms.
1 report.
0 queries... it's just a SKU generator.

When I attempt to save as ACCDE I get an error that reads."Microsoft Access was unable to create the .accde, .mde, or .ade file. This error is usually associated with compiling a large database into an MDE file.* Because of the method used to compile the database, a considerable number of TableID references are created for each table.* The Access database engine can only create a maximum of 2048 open TableIDs at one time.* Exporting a database as an MDE potentially can exceed this limit if the database has a large number of objects (table, macro, form, report, etc).

There is no accurate method to estimate the number of TableIDs the Access database engine uses during the process of compiling a database as an MDE.* However, each VBA module and each form uses one TableID, as a result, if the database has 500 forms, and each form's HasModule property is set to Yes, as many as 1,000 TableIDs are used."

General :: Access 2013 - Compact Database To New Name

Jan 30, 2015

Access 2013 ... Is it possible to compact a database to a new name?

(In previous incarnations of Access I regularly 'compacted and repaired' databases to USB sticks rather than simply copy the file in the (mistaken??) belief that this was a more reliable approach)...

I can't see where to do this in Access 2013!

General :: Error When Splitting Access Database

Feb 15, 2013

I have created a db for a nonprofit counseling org. I had created the first half, mostly administrative tasks, called Phase1, and put the BE on a network drive and the FE on multiple users. Now in developing the clinical portion, Phase2, I linked to four of the tables in Phase1 BE file.

Now I tried to split Phase2 the same way as Phase1 and got an error "Subscript out of Range". I think because of already having some external links in it. I checked for the file and Access actually created the BE file for the new phase2, all of the tables are in it minus the four I was linking to. But, access didn't create a FE file. The original still has all of the objects, tables and forms etc. My question is; can I link to the tables in the new BE file even though those tables still exist in the original file?

General :: Website To Get Data From MS Access Database?

Jan 10, 2013

Is it possible for a website to pull data from an Access database?

We have all our department's policies in a MS Access database on our server. Some of these policies need to be made available to the public on our website. I'm wondering if there's a way for the website to pull directly from the database rather than having to manually upload the policies to the site every time they change (annually, semi-annually).

General :: Limit Access To Database To Few Users

Aug 16, 2013

I am using Access 2007. My boss has given me a project to create a tool for our team. I'm done with most part of the project, but for the last part I want editing and updating of database restricted to a few members of our team. However others can access the database and run queries etc. through buttons on a form.

I went about creating a login form for users to get access to the database and in turn created a table with fields UserID, UserName, UserPW and a yes/no field titled IsAdmin. For those who would be limited access would log in as 'Other' user and same as password. I am then using the code to determine if the user should be treated as admin or not by looking up the IsAdmin field in the table. Following is what I have so far, but it needs correction some places and I can't figure where:

Private Sub cmdLogin_Click()
Dim xxAdmin As String
'Check to see if data is entered into the UserName combo box
If IsNull(Me.cboUser) Or Me.cboUser = "" Then
MsgBox "You must enter a User Name.", vbOKOnly, "Required Data"

[Code] ....

General :: Split Database Access FE And SQL Server BE

Mar 4, 2014

I am currently working on an application where I am using MS access as my FE and working with linked tables to SQL server BE. I also have a few temp tables within Access that are not linked but needed.

1. What are my steps into making this into a SPLIT DB? I am assume the BE will have my linked tables from SQL and the FE will have my temp tables and forms. Is this correct?
2. Once I split it, then I can make an .ACCDE file for a Mulit User environment, is this correct?

What other steps should I be made aware of?

General :: Access Based Database / How To Use Data

Apr 26, 2015

I've used MS Access a fair bit in the past but am somewhat lost since moving to 2013Pro.Some years back I was using software to document radio intercepts, this was based on Access but used a program to display and enter the data. That program was lost after upgrading to a new computer (tied to the CPU) .And the company has long since gone out of business. So I am left with the MS Access elements. In the form of a 3mb database that has nothing but a long list of tables to show for itself. Each table opens and has some ID columns with text like this in them 'L096e0dd24757c 1533a7cc1 53e 6ba44 bd' and after has usable data. What I want to do is set up Access so I can use as much of the data as possible.

General :: Opening Access Database From Batch File Or VBS

Is there a way to open an Access Database from a batch file or VBS file wait for 20 seconds and then close the Access file. Preferably I would like the Access file to run in either invisible or minimized mode. I would like the Access Database to close again after the 20 seconds has elapsed.

(The reason for this is so that the Database can refresh itself from Sharepoint on another users machine so that the excel reports on his machine are up to date).

General :: How To Share Access Database On Company Intranet

Jan 14, 2015

I want to consider ways of sharing an Access database within our company. This could be web-based via our intranet or done some other way.

I understand that Microsoft's preferred way of sharing via an Intranet is to use SharePoint. However, as we don't use SharePoint (we use Atlassian Confluence) the cost of that route would be prohibitive.

Any methods of sharing an Access database across, say, 20 people? Simultaneous read/write access would be required but in reality the usage will be low, so performance is not really an issue. I would like to consider web-based or other methods.

I have chosen Access 2013 simply because we use Office Professional 2013 and Access will be familiar to some developers. We could use a different product. But I would certainly prefer a tool that supports RAD design of forms.
