General :: How To Remove Date Separator
Jul 16, 2012
I have a lot of dates in one column (dd/mm/yy), and i somehow need to duplicate them into another column where they are shown without the date separator (ddmmyy), so that i can use that figure in a future calculation where a variety of fields are combined to show one unique product number.

I'm working on a report in Access 2013 and I have a multivalued field that stores employees names in the format "Last, First" and when I put it on my report it displays all the names as "Last1, First1, Last2, First2, Last3, First3" and so on. That's a lot of commas and it was suggested to me by my boss that I change access to use semicolons between the employees as he would like to keep the names as Last, First.

I needed to change the decimal symbol from a dot to comma for use in Europe. On changing the the settings to a comma everything works fine but for the field that I have the code in the AfterUpdate properties
Private Sub SprayCfuelC_AfterUpdate()
Me.Dirty = False
CurrentDb.Execute ("UPDATE ProcessData SET ProcessData.SprayCFuelC =" & Me.SprayCfuelC & " WHERE (((ProcessData.AuditNo)=" & Parent.[AuditNo] & "));")
Me.Recalc
End Sub
Now when the data is changed I get a run time error 3144 - syntax error in UPDATE statement.

I used to use commas as a parameter separator, but for some reason it is now a semicolon. How can I change it back to a comma?
Currently this works:
Code:
SELECT IIF(MyExpression; TrueThing; FalseThing)
FROM ...
Want to use (and have used before):
Code:
SELECT IIF(MyExpression, TrueThing, FalseThing)
FROM ...

We have a new contractual requirement to track all time spent on Military contracts and report it to our Prime Contractor annually.
I am trying to put into Access 2010, basically the same functionality that I have built into Excel time sheets for years; that is simple entry of time in military time using 3 or 4 keystrokes depending on the time of day.
I have a table which records an employee's employee number and job that he or she is working on. I have formatted fields to short for Start Time and Stop Time, and I have a Calculated field also formatted short for elapsed time, however I need to have it simplified to where there is no colon separator on key entry in the form to 700 for 0700 hrs military and 1317 for 1:17 PM.
I will be using this database on several computers, but only a couple that will be used for time entry.
The Excel spreadsheets work well, but I have found them cumbersome trying to dump all the information into a Master spreadsheet from several different individual spreadsheets and I am using Access as our ERP so it will save time if I just add a simple form to track time from there putting it in the hands of the Repairmen and save someone from data entry late.

I have a user input form with a text box that stores a number. When the user inputs the number, I'd like it to display the comma separator (e.g. "1234" becomes "1,234". I've tried putting "#,###" and "#,##0." into the format property of the text box, but I still get 1234.

Any way to import a file containing numbers with a "thousand space separator"
example :
1 000
2 000
3 000
4 000 000
5 000 000 000
Only workaround I found so far is to import de numbers into a text field in a temp table, do an update query to remove the spaces and then transfert the data into the real table that has a numeric field.

I have a form with subform that uses colour as background colour for all fields on the form, and also a very light background for the whole form. This outputs very well to PDF, retaining all of the layout etc.
However, consisting of over 100 pages I do not want any colour at all in the printed report, no do I want the colour converted to black or grey. Inkjet cartridges are just too expensive!
Is there an easy way to remove all colour before printing or do I have to design another report?

We use a Database which has been constantly developed over 10 years using earlier versions of Access2003.We have Upgraded to Access 2013 and we are experiencing many conversion issues which I need to resolve. One key problem is that many of the earlier tables were developed with spaces in their names (Hindsight is a wonderful thing?). There are over 200 Tables that need changing. I would like to update the Table names replacing every "space" with an underscore"_". AT the same time I would also need to Update all of the QUERIES that use these particular Tables to be updated to reflect these changes made and still work as normal. I can do this manually but it will be very time consuming and perhaps someone has already had to do this when recently upgrading to Access 2013?

I have a competition ranking contestants. A contestant can compete multiple times, each time with a unique registration number.
I am trying to sort by score to rank the contestants, however the contestants can only receive one rank - their highest score (not a sum of their scores, only one score). ? ?
Example:
Registration Name Score
2345 Sally 247
3456 George 230
4672 Sally 255
What I want to see:
4672 Sally 255
3456 George 230

I have a 2007 db, been working no it in 2007 and occasionally in 2010, careful not to use any 2010 items. Well I goofed and added a Navigation Form (2010 only) and then deleted it. Now My 2007 db opens in 2007 fine, everything works, but the glowering Warning message and lovely yellow yield sign show up constantly. How do you resolve the incompatible items and clear this warning?

Let's say I have a list of customers. For each customer I have much more info on other lists (order list, personal info list, bank info list, and so on) - all are of course connected properly.
Now let's say a certain customer is no longer my customer, so I want to remove him from the customer-list. But, I want to move him to a different list - past-customers - so all the information that was related to that customer will remain so. In short, I want to remove from the customer-list without affecting the related data.

I am creating an online post, similar to a guestbook. When a user submits an entry, I am storing the date and time in a column titled "Timestamp", which is formatted 8/4/2005 9:16:58 ("General Date"). I am running the table through a query which is then posted on the web.
What I would like to do is this: I would like to use Timestamp to display the date that the entry was submitted, but not the time (basically, "Short Date"). Can I exclude the time using a query without changing the actual data stored in each record of the table? I understand that the time stored is completely different than the time displayed, even in the table. How can I do this?

I have attached a sample of a database.
Table 1 has all the items I am trying to sell with sell by date after which I cannot sell this item. Then in Table 2 I have forecasted sales. So now I am trying to calculate stock consumption to see if I will be left with any stock that I cannot sell.
So now somehow I need to deduct sales forecast from my stock holding but it needs to go by date i.e. consume all stock for Item 1 with date 16/09 before moving to Item 1 with sale by date 23/09.
So based on the attached example, I can see that on 16/09 I will consume only 5 cases from sell by date 16/09 and another sale is 18/09. So that would give me information that I will be left with 95 items dated 16/09, which I cannot sell because they will be out of date.
Ideally I would like also to include the logic that if Item is out of date it would move to the next sell by date.
So in this case sale of Item 1 forecasted for 18/09 (94) would consume the whole stock (50) with date 23/09 and another 44 from date 01/10
For Item 2 I can see that units with Sell by date 30/09 will be consumed on 25/09 and I will start taking stock from next sell by date which is 14/10.

I have a date and time stamp in a Date/Time field of General Date format (3/1/2006 7:52:25 AM).
I wish to select query on the table's Date/Time field by date portion only (3/1/2006) and not include the time portion (7:52:25 AM) of the field.
Using this expression in the query's criteria - "Between [Enter Start Date: (MM/DD/YY Format)] And [End Date: (MM/DD/YY]" will not return the date ranges as desired without also typing in the full time string.
How can the date integer be parsed out and the query properly expression ed on the criteria field without using VB?

In a date field is it possible for a date that is in the future to be hi-lighted in a different colour.
E.g. todays date is 25/03/14
So anything with todays date or previous would stay in black
24/03/14
25/03/14
but anything from 26/03/14 forward would be in red
26/03/14
Then will change to black when the 26th comes.
