I am trying to add a barcode to a report of mine that I can then scan in order to escape/close that report. The reason for this is my work station will not have a keyboard. The user will simply scan a work order number, this will bring up a report on screen with work order detail. Then to get back to main screen to scan next work order I need to be able to escape/close the current report without using a keyboard.

I'm working on a project that uses a barcode scanner. The user will scan a barcode which will choose an item from a combo box. The result of what it enters will populate a text box. I have that part working fine.
The next step is to get it to open a form based on the value in the textbox. The textbox will have about 7 different possible values and each one should open a different form.
The way this is supposed to work:
User approaches a machine and scans the barcode. He is presented with a form giving him options based on the type of equipment the machine is. A compressor for example would present him with a set of options for compressors (gauge readings, maintanence, etc).
I have an unbound form with two controls:
cboAssetNumber
txtType
How to code this and which events to code it in. Users will be going from machine to machine and using the form over and over again so I need to somehow manage the clearing of the form to begin again with another barcode scan.
I saw another thread about a barcode scanner and one response was to program the scanner to send the barcode and then send an "Enter" press to move focus to the next control. I've looked through the documentation and haven't been able to find if that is possible. Right now it sends the number and that's it. It's a "Motion" Tablet.

128 and 3of9 don't handle this data.

I want to be able to put a barcode in a field that when a reader scans the barcode it records the current time. Need it for access control to record who is in and out of the office. Reading other threads I understand it may be possible in Dlookup.

I am using a barcode font in order to generate a number as a barcode on my report records. In order for my barcode scanner to read the barcode it needs an asterisk at the beginning and at the end.
So, if my record ID is 62 - in order for the barcode to be displayed correctly, it needs to be on the report as *62* .
Without digressing into a discussion on barcode methods in Access, how can I precede and succeed each ID number field with an asterisks?

I will have a PC and a number of scanners in a production line. I will need at least 15-20 scanners and would like to plan for more if needed. When an operator clicks on a button I would like to have each of the scanners triggered and return the value. They can be done in turn or all at once (preferred for speed). I need to know which value came from each scanner. I would then compare the barcode read at each station versus what is supposed to be at that station and either pass or fail.

I need to identify and parse (substring) a number of digits from a barcode. The barcode digit count will vary, based on the number of details included in the barcode.
For example: the barcode for GS1 DataBar begins with a 4 digit code of 8110 identifying the code as GS1. The 5th digit then identifies the number of digits directly following which constitute the manufacturers code, which can range anywhere from 6 digits to 12 digits. I need to pull the number of digits out of the barcode based on the value of the 5th digit placeholder and pull only that many digits from the string and replace them into another field. There are potentially 70 total digits in the barcode. I have only provided the first section, which I am asking the question on.
Simply put: I need to tell the substring to identify the number to parse from digit 5, (which will have a min of 6 digits and a max of 12)
How do I pull the information out of a string to create a substring in another field by first defining the number of digits to pull out (Digits 6 to 17 min of 6 digits and a max of 12 digits) based on a value within the string (digit 5= value)
So if Digit 5 is 6 the returned value would be: Digits: 6 7 8 9 10 11 (6 6 6 6 6 6 )
If Digit 6 is 9 the returned value would be: Digits: 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 (9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9)
The first portion of the barcode is below: There are other pieces necessary to be pulled the same way, but from other sections, and based on yet another X desinator field (the next with a min of 1 and max of 5) I assume the pull would be similarly completed.
I don't know how to write code, I have used formulas but not this detailed or specific.
Ex: I know = Min (barcode, 5, 6) would pull the 6 digits after the 5 spot, but how do I vary the 6 (count) number in the formula?
Example below: No additional spaces, dashes, letters etc. (A's = 1-4, X = 5, M's = 6-17)

I am (kind of) new to Microsoft Access and have a question about making validation rules more complex.
I am making a quality control database with 3 tables. One containing the product and their unique codes, the 2nd with their unique lot numbers for each different production run, and the 3rd with all the required quality control data for each product.
Each different product has different required specifications. For example, Product AB-544 needs a value between 11-20 while product RY-233 needs a value between 21-30.
My question is: Is there a method of defining different validation rules for different product codes? I want the QC tech entering the data to only be able to enter in quality data that is within the required specification defined by the product code. If the current product is AB-544 he should only be able to enter in 11-20 but if he is entering in data for RY-233 he should only be able to enter 21-30.

I am creating a inventory database for work. I am trying to get the cursor to jump to the next text box for data entry using a barcode scanner. I have a limit on how many characters there can be in this field but yet even after it is all filled the cursor stays in that same field. I am fairly new to access, especially in code building. Do I use "After Update" under "Event" in the "Property Sheet"?

I'm currently developing an MS Access (2010) application and connected a barcode scanner to it for reading barcode information.
Everything seems to work well for what concerns capturing the data into a field, but what I would like to do is to populate a complete form once the barcode has been captured and filled-in in the specific "barcode" field. The data that should be populated in the form comes from different tables.
How to send an enter after the barcode data has been captured? Objective is to read data from a barcode, which after an enter or update automatically populates the data in the form afterwards.
The barcode data is already in the DB.

I've now populated my database with all my sales information.
Now, towards plan/prepare 'replenishments' from suppliers, I need to know how many of each product I've sold (ideally between two given dates ....because recent sales history is more important than say sales information from 1 year ago), but let's keep it simple!
How can I get such info out of my database, the info is contained in my database something like this...

Order date Qty Product ID

2-feb-2014 1 widget A
2-feb-2014 1 widget B

4-feb-2014 5 widget C
(in my database, qty is declared as 'double', where Product ID is categorized as 'text')
So I'd like an 'order summary' from the above raw data (contained in my database) to look something like this...
Code:
Widget A Sales = 4 units
Widget B Sales = 1 units
widget C Sales = 5 units
How can I do that please? (I looked at access reports, but couldn't see a way of multiplying 'product by quantity' & then total it all up).

creating a product catalog over a range of products.
I want to create a catalog where each page of the catalog contains a product, describing; Performance data, pictures of the product, technical drawings, and documents on the product e.g.
Also it should be possible to search in the performance data, so that one or more parameter from all products can be compared used for benchmarking the products to each other.
I am using the 2007 version, because it's the one that I have available at the current time. My questions are mostly related to the possibilities of creating such a product in Access 2007, or if I need to upgraded to a newer version or even use another software program?

By utilizing the search feature, I have discovered issues that are somewhat relative to what I need assistance with, however nothing specific. So here we go…
1.I have a table named tblManifest. Within this table is a text field named PRODUCT and a text field named ACTION (which is a YES or NO option). There are multiple records (duplicates are acceptable) stored within this table/field
2.I have a form named frmReceipts. Within this form is a text box named PRODUCT.
Here is my issue. Within frmReceipts & text box PRODUCT, the user will utilize a handeld scanner to scan a product id barcode. After the scan, I want the record to be added to a table named tblReceipts. This is I have.
My problem is with product identity and specialized treatment of specific product id’s. What I need is when the user scans the product id and that particular product id is flagged as YES within the ACTION field in tblManifest, I would like for a separate wav file to be played and a comment box to flash on the screen. This will alert the user that the product requires specialized treatment. The wav is located in C:My DocumentsTest.wav. If product is flagged as NO, then no wav should be played and no comment is displayed.
I would imagine that this is possible, however beyond my basic Access skills. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Is there anyway to scan documents and save them in an Access table? As of now we scan them and save them to a folder on the network. Then go into Access form to add them into the tables. Would like to automate this process all from Access but have know idea how to go about this. Any suggestions?

We are wanting to have our entry form open; click a button that scans a document; to a pdf file; then attaches a hyperlink to that pdf to that record.
If that record was ever retrieved; we could simply double-click the hyperlink to access the pdf file.
Is this possible? Could you give us some recommendations?

I have a table with these 2 fields: Name and AnniversaryDate. What is the best way to write a query that will show me all the anniversaries that will fall within the next two weeks?
For instance if I have a record with these values:
Name, Anniversary
BukHix, 1/1/2003
I want the query to look at today’s date, which in this case would be 12/29/2005 go two weeks forward, which would make it 1/12/2006 and show any anniversary date that would fall between the dates.
The catch (and the part that is throwing me off) is how do I do that without explicitly naming the year? I mean I need to catch every date in that range from 1965 to Current year - 1.
Any ideas?

Where do I put code to run over an entire continuus form. I have a yes/no on each record and it is controlled by an if statement. If I click on every single record it will run the code. I need it to check all the records in the subform. I have tried OnLoad, OnOpen, OnCurrent, OnTimer. None have worked. Any help???

I have hp scanner whose twain driver has the option to scanning in the pdf document.
Microsoft WIA 2.0 have save scanned document only to graphical format.
I want automated (on click any button control) to scan multipage document from glass source or ADF to pdf document and attach it to attachment field.
I'm found VB Module for accessing TWAIN compatible scanner but it is call twain software and scan to bmp format with assigned name of file.
Me need it also only use the pdf format .

I have a Symbol long range barcode scanner. Works great. I need to drop this in access and have it update as input (without hitting enter every time). I am reading barcodes with serial numbers and part numbers.

I need to be able to run my database in the background but i still need to be able to input data from a barcode scanner is this possible. I have worked out how scan bar codes but when the application is minmised it no longer accepts the barcode data.

Hi all,
I am trying to use a barcode reader with an Access database. The raw data is a linked table to a Crystal Report Excel dump that is updated daily. My problem, the raw data “Asset Tag” field is numbers only. The barcode has the needed numbers but is preceded by “PC”.
Example:
Raw data Asset Tag “12064621”
Barcode Asset Tag ”PC12064621”
Is there a way to remove the “PC” from the scanned “lookup” field?
Objective:
Scan the barcode tag into the form, bringing up all related information on that Asset.
