"Microsoft Office Access can't create any more controls on this form or report. If you have deleted from this form or report in the past, you may be able to rename the form or report and then add more controls to it."
I tried:
- rename the form -- > same problem
- copy/paste the form --> for some reason it's not duplicating (don't know why)
how to make my form controls change size / position as my form is resized / loaded on a computer with a different resolution. Several of the tutorials out there suggest putting code on the "on resize" property of the form. When I looked at the Northwind database to try to mimic their code however, it looks like they must be doing something different as there is no on resize code under the form properties and I was unable to find the code they do use.
I've Saved an Access 2010 File as an .accde version that opens Ok however none of the buttons (eg; delete record, go to first record, next record) that I placed on the form work at all (the standard record selectors at the bottom of the form still work). All the buttons work fine in the .accdb version - only the .accde version that doesnt work...
Any way to list all currently opened Access databases? It feels like this must be possible by referring to the databases collection, but I just don't know how.
Also, is it possible to refer to controls on a form in one open database from code in another database? (and obviously if so, how?)
What really is the best way, programming-wise and user experience-wise when presenting records in a form:
1) Use the form with sub-forms to show records. Add new records via a popup form and use recordsets in VBA to allow validating.
2) Use unbound controls on a form and populate with pure VBA recordsets. For data with more than one row use list boxes. A popup form used for adding new or editing etc using VBA.
3) Another I haven't thought of; new or a combination of above?
In Excel, I can dynamically add option controls to a frame on a form using the Control.Add method. Is there an Access Equivalent? I can only find Count & Item as Control. items.
It might have something to do with design view i guess.
I have a form that retrieves information from a query (which of course uses data from a table).Everything is working great and I want to roll it out.will multiple users accessing the form/query/table at the same time corrupt the database or not return a result?
I am using Access 2007. My boss has given me a project to create a tool for our team. I'm done with most part of the project, but for the last part I want editing and updating of database restricted to a few members of our team. However others can access the database and run queries etc. through buttons on a form.
I went about creating a login form for users to get access to the database and in turn created a table with fields UserID, UserName, UserPW and a yes/no field titled IsAdmin. For those who would be limited access would log in as 'Other' user and same as password. I am then using the code to determine if the user should be treated as admin or not by looking up the IsAdmin field in the table. Following is what I have so far, but it needs correction some places and I can't figure where:
Private Sub cmdLogin_Click() Dim xxAdmin As String 'Check to see if data is entered into the UserName combo box If IsNull(Me.cboUser) Or Me.cboUser = "" Then MsgBox "You must enter a User Name.", vbOKOnly, "Required Data"
I am currently trying to figure out how to limit the entries into a nested sub form to just one.
for example im making wine collection database, I have a PURCHASE table, a WINE table containing the FK of the PURCHASE PK, and an INVENTORY contain the FK of the WINE PK.
a purchase can contain many wines, but one wine can only be in one inventory location.
I am trying to add all this information with one form. I fill out the purchase details, enter the info of X bottles of wine were in the purchase, and then with one of those wines selected in their subform, i enter the inventory details for that wine. I go select the next wine in the first subform and the inventory nested subform doesnt allow another entry.
I have this code loaded into the On Current event for the main form:
Private Sub Form_Current() With Me![INVENTORY Subform].Form If .Recordset.RecordCount = 0 Then .AllowAdditions = True
I've been told numerous times that a shared database should have each user with their own FE. I've also seen in a number of places that the FE should be on the user's local machine. Is the FE on the local machine to limit network traffic only, or is there a greater reason for it?
I was under the assumption that the seperate FE's were to lower the probability of corruptions and sharing of local temp files... If this is the case, is it reasonable enough to have each user have their own FE in their own user folder on the network?
What I am trying to do is, for example, I have 2 combo boxes, you can select a value in the first one and search and your results match the criteria, or you can select a value in the first AND second one and the records dispalyed will match the first AND second combo box criteria.
I am trying to limit what a user can see when accessing a database in access. I am only testing with this in access before taking it to SQL server. I have 3 databases and I combined the data into one set of tables and now what i am trying to do is a certain user can only view data from a particular database.
I have a table with the users id and password, as well as an ID number from each database that I am trying to tie to the users.
for example one user can view and add/edit data in databases 1 and 3 but not 2. while there might be a user that can view and add/edit on 1 and 2 but not 3.
I basically have General Date field (e.g. 10/1/2014 6:34:11 PM) and I want to limit the results to only a specific month and only to show reuslts after 6PM. I tried everything and still stuck.
We have a database with one main data entry which stores records in a seperate table. There are several thousand records keyed in using this form. Therefore, alongside the entry we have a search form which allow the user to search for a specific record and display it in the main if he/she needs to edit one.
We have received a request from users for a functionality which allows users to browse all records, using the main form layout, that they have keyed in. I guess what I am asking is: Is there a way to limit the records visible in a form using field on that same form as a limitation (ie. the users name - which is a required key-in)?
I have a form, which lists all reports i have available in my dateabase. But there is 1 report which i dont want visable to users, how do i restrict access to this 1 form, either by it not showing on the list or password protecting it. users have to double click the report name to open it from the list.
HI I am creating a booking system. I would like to have a form that only shows 10 records for each event. As this is the max number of people that can attend at any one time. How would I go about this. do I use single form, continous for or what ? thanks for any help paul
I have built a query (Loading_query) that brings in the prefix, number and date_loaded (=null) for each rail car.
I now want to display the rail cars numbers in a drop-down but be limited by the prefix selected in another drop-down on the form.
For example:
If the prefix that was selected = GATX then the next drop-down should use "Loading_query" to only show the rail cars that are empty (according to date_loaded) and have a prefix that = GATX..... Still new at this and do not know how to use a value from the form to limit the query.
I am trying to open a form in design mode and add controls, this i have done. I am doing this all in a class, and am having trouble saving the modified form.
I have tried using the following, both produce errors
I've attached a zip version of my database (which is still in the early stages of development) as I think it will be tricky to explain what I need. I've studied lots of other threads but can't find the answer I'm looking for.
Basically I have a form "Goods-in" which has a subform in continuous view that lets you pick from a product list. I'm trying to limit this combo to products that relate to this supplier only, but (it seems) because the subform is based on a query I can't update it.
I have tried several approaches but got nowehere. At this stage I don't know whether the problem is with - how I'm linking the parent and child forms - the SQL of the combo recordsource - my relationships - my overall design - the weather! - etc.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could take a look and advise me. The items shaded grey on the forms are just my shorthand for what will be invisible in the final version.
I'm going home now and even though I may read replies tonight, I wont be back in the office until 9am.
I've built a function that open a form in Design mode, read records from a table about appointments and create a grid with textboxes representing one appointment each. On the left there are labels with hours and as column headers there are doctors names. Practically each column shows each doctor's daily appointments (it is a medical clinique).
Every time i change the date all controls are deleted and rebuilt.
But after three or four day I pass I get a message of memory limit.
The question is general : Why the memory finish if I close every variable I use during the creation with the instruction:
set frm = nothing set newTxt = nothing rst.close set rst = nothing
Recently I designed a form with several controls including both TextBox and Combox. Before I submit data by clicking the button, I use VBA to validate the values of those controls (textbox and combox). If the value is not valid, the system will eject a msgbox and automatically set the focus on that component. In order to tidy the code, I use a GoTo statement, which refers to a group of code to display the message due to the value of parameters
But it seems VBA doesn't recongize the control I set through the parameter.
The code as the following:
private function validation () as boolean
Dim ErrorMessage as string Dim ErrorComponent as String
...... ErrorMessage="Please select the shop Name" ErrorComponent="ShopName" // ShopNameis a combox
GoTo ExitFunction .....
...... ErrorMessage="Please set the start date" ErrorComponent="StartDate" // StartDate is a Textbox GoTo ExitFunction .....
As I tested for seveal time, I'm sure there is something wrong with " msgResult = MsgBox(ErrorMessage, vbOKOnly, "Error Message") Me(ErrorComponent).SetFocus "
I have searched the forum on this, but I can't find an example of this problem.
I have a data entry form with a two-page tab control. One is for company info and the other for contact info. The recordsource is a query based on the two tables. Initially I had the page set up as a rather large form with a subform and decided to convert to the cleaner looking tab control (I used copy and paste to transfer the controls).
This form worked initially, but now I have changed some setting so that it doesn't work anymore: I can enter data properly on the first tab, but not on the second.
I have tried changing the various form properties but I must be missing something obvious. All my tab-less forms work the way I expect them to.
What I don't understand is why one tab works and not the other.
I am having a problem restricting a user from a certain form. I have a module that detects if a user or admin based on the roles entered in the employees table.
If their windows login is not listed in the employees table, they will not be able to view any of the forms.
Here's my problem, I want the users to access the switchboard, but they should not be able to get into the reporting button.
here's my code: If LOAStatusbtn.Caption = "View Report" _ And Not admin _ Then 'useraccess denied because not an admin error_text = "You do not have privileges to access this screen." & vbCr & "Please contact an administrator" MsgBox error_text, , "No Privileges"
End If
If they click on LOAStatusbtn and their role is not admin, then a message should pop up.
I searched the forum and could not find anything similar to this.
I tried to word the title as accurately as possible. What I'm trying to build is a Form where they can select data in different fields to limit (filter) the list. In my query criteria I want to read the form, if there's a value use THAT in the criteria (for that field) otherwise ignore it.
I've tried isnulls etc. If I put a value (like City) it properly returns all the records with that city, however if I put nothing the "ISNULL" returns a value that the criteria doesn't match i.e. I get nothing.
There must be a way to tell a query to NOT use any criteria if an object (form!field) is blank...?
I am new to Access and I am developing a form. I have already read and found useful resources on internet but there is something I am not able to sort out.I have seen that the limit of fields I can enter in Access is 255 and my survey is far below that number. So no issue at all when I created the fields in Data view. However, the issues started when I created a form.
I created a form by Create>Form. The last few fields, at the very bottom of the form, are squeezed onto each other as if there was not any space available. Is there a limit to the number of fields I can have in a form? There should not be if I am allowed to enter up to 255 fields. How can I go about it? Should I alternatively create 2 forms? I would rather not to though.
In one table I want to limit the options of one field depending on what is chosen in another field.
Field Type has two options: Receivable and Payable.
I want field Sybtype with this limits:
If Receivable is chosen in Type field you will only have CreditCard & Lockbox available in the Subtype field. If Payable is chosen you will only have Cheque & Transfer to choose. Shall I have two separate tables? or only one table with Type and SubType as below? but then how can I make the above work?
Type SubType Receivable CreditCard Receivable Lockbox Payable Cheque Payable Transfer
