View RepliesI have a field on a form which the user currently has to manually type in the file path to a specific picture on a local drive. After the file path is entered, the path is linked and the picture is shown in an image box. I did this because I didnt want to bog the database down with attached files.
I wondered if I could have a browse button, which when pressed brought up the browse window to allow you to locate the image (using the standard windows browser). Then when you clicked ok, it writes the filename into the correct field on the form.
Hey again all!
Implementation is going fabu, but I had a request to add a button on the main form to open the HTML FAQ I wrote. I thought I would be able to quickly point the button to the file using the button creation wizard, but that doesn't seem to work so well. (not at all)
Did I miss something or is this something that needs to be coded with VBA (very little knowledge of VBA here... negligible even.)
Does anyone know the code for opening a specific notepad file from a button? I know there's a default button but it only opens a blank notepad page. I need to open some written instructions from a button you see.
Thanks.
I have set up a database that houses file locations. The form that I have made shows a job # and the files that correlate with it. I would like to set up a command button that will read the file name and open it in Excell. If any one know how to do this I would greatly appreciate the help.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to open a workbook with a command button on a form however the path to the file is giving me a fit. The path for the file location contains spaces and I am going blind trying to figure out how to rectify the path. Heres the line. I am sure someone here will see this problem quick! Thanks.
Private Sub Command0_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command0_Click
Dim stAppName As String
stAppName = "Excel.exe N:OPSCOMMONOpsResearchContact CenterDI CCL Reporting dBApps by Agent.xls"
Call Shell(stAppName, 1)
Exit_Command0_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_Command0_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Command0_Click
End Sub
Heres the mess I made out of it:
stAppName = "Excel.exe N:OPSCOMMONOpsResearchContact" & Chr(32) & "CenterDI" & Chr(32) & "CCL" & Chr(32) & "Reporting" & Chr(32) & "dBApps" & Chr(32) & "by" & Chr(32) & "Agent.xls"""
:confused:
Is this possible? A command button when click will open an excel file... :rolleyes:
Cheers!

I want to open different .doc files by a button from access.
I want that the vba code checks where the current access database is located. In which folder the the current access database is.
In this file folder i have a folder called documents.
In this folder i have the .doc files.
Right now i have the following code.
Public Function getPath(ByVal iPath As String)
Dim fso As Object
Dim drive As String
Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
drive = fso.GetDriveName(CurrentDb.Name)
[Code] .....
The access database is in the folder Z:BUS MMM CGrimmMasterarbeitDatenbank
I would like to have something like
spath = getpath("documentswissen.doc")
How can i do that?
I'd like to import an excel file but the data begin from cell "A10", above there is a "privacy text".Is it possibile import or link the excel data in an access table directly from the cell A10?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a file, save it, create an email with a link to the file in it, and send the email. But the link in the email doesn't work if there are any underscores ("_") in the file name or file path.
The folder that I need to save the file in and link to in the email has underscores ("_") in its name. I cannot rename the folder.
The attached database, when you click on the button, will create an Excel spreadsheet with "RED", "BLUE", and "GREEN" on it, save the spreadsheet in the path you enter with the name 'Test_File' with date and time appended, create an email with a link in it to the spreadsheet, and send the email. You must enter your email or an email address that you can use for testing in the form and enter what you want for the file path. Enter the file path with a slash at the end. Do not enter a file name. Then click on the button and wait a minute or 2 for the email.
When you receive the email, click on the link. It does not work.
If you change 3 statements in the code for frmMain, it will work:
Code:
strNow = Replace(strNow, "/", "_") '<------ Change _ to - and it works
strNow = Replace(strNow, ":", "_") '<------ Change _ to - and it works
filename = "Test_File_" '<------ Change both _ 's to - and it works
Change as indicated.
So how can I get it to work with the underscores? I could actually do away with underscores in the file name but the folder that I need to hit has underscores in its name.
I need to open a specific pdf file per record by using a command button. The pdf files will all reside in a specific folder in a partition on my hard drive. Each pdf file will have a unique four digit file name e.g 1234.pdf.The file name will match a unique number allocated to each record. This number is generated by adding 1000 to the record ID.Record 10 will therefore have an associated pdf file name of 1010.pdf.I have created a text box field , named 'TestReportID', to capture the unique four digit number per record that I assume is needed to be referred to when setting up the code to find and display the correct related pdf file.
I have set up a command button on the records form and as simple test using the hyperlink address to the folder where the pdf files reside, I can open a pdf file by clicking on the command button but it does not matter what record is open when I click the command button, it will always open the same pdf file.If I don't identify a specific file name in the hyperlink address, when I click on the button it will display a file open dialog which lists all the relevant pdf files and I can then select and open the required file.I would like to cut out that step and get the correct file to open when I click the button.
I need code for save dialog file ,and select the file from textbox and save it to the selected location.i have only this code and i dont know what else i can do with this because it just opens the save file dialog !
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to open MX Excel using a command button. I have tried using a hyperlink and various codes that i have found online with no luck. The Excel file is being used by Access as it bring data from the spreadsheet and displays it within a subform. (I think this is where the problem occurs) The subform displaying some data from Excel is working fine but when i click my hyperlinked button (To open the excel file) i am met with errors and the file will not open.

However it always fails if I have a session of Access already opened even if it is a completely different database. If I use below then it opens another sessions of Access but does not execute the macro. I need to go into the second session and run macro manually. It works fine then.

I've checked the login my colleagues uses and it has all the right permissions ect but I cannot seem to figure out why this error is still happening. Is it something to do with the SQL server or Microsoft Access?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was successfully using a front end and back end setup for the past two years. Today I needed to push through some changes and "deactivate" the previous back end database and setup a new back end database. The new back end database has been sent; however the front end is not recognizing the back end database anymore. I need to re-link the existing front end to the back end database - I cannot import the front end into a "fresh" file because I put a password on the VBA Editor.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an access form that fills an access table (MS Access 2003). Also, I have a Word (2010) document/template with some template text and empty fields which should be filled with data from access. Is it possible to insert a button in access form which would open a word document and populate appropriate fields with data from that form?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Access 2010, and have successfully split a database, using the Access wizard.However, whenever a second or third user opens the database - with their front-end database file - they encounter the following message;The Microsoft Access Database engine cannot open or write to the file ". It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data.
I have researched the internet and see that it has something to do with network permissions. I have worked with my IT department and this appears to be resolved!
Is there a setting I need to check in the front-end and/or back-end copies of the databases?Why is there no file name in the error message?
I have a button on a FORM to print the current record with the following code:
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord
DoCmd.PrintOut acSelection
But what I need is that before printing, open the preview to set the margins and page size ... or at least to pre-configure so that when you press the button, and comes preformatted.
I'm currently working on a project within access which will allow users to select/input information in a form which will then save to the database.
What I need is to create a button on the form which will allow you to convert the data collected from the form to a custom text file template.
(Or maybe the last row added to the database. - although this may cause errors. Example: the form information doesn't save which will in turn create a text file with the data collected from the previous job)
The custom text file template should have a sentence description followed by the value recorded from the form.
Example:
1 configuration type: (data from form)
2 model type: (data from form)
3 Poc: (data from form)
And so on.
So in summary - I would be to use the form to collect the desired information which will save to the database.
Once actioned, a custom text file should be populated with the collected information (with specific data placement as per the example above)....
