I have a report in which a textbox generates numerical values and letter values. I want to...On report load - if textbox = numbers then hide otherwise show if it contains letter values.
I have a form in which the user has the privilege to download some data from the table.the user will paste some of the numbers to the textbox from the excel in order to download the specific data.i need to write a query to parse the textbox using the in condition
I am designing a book collection database where each book can contain multiple authors. I used three tables; tblBooks, tblAuthors, tblBookAuthorJOIN. The tblBookAuthorJOIN allows me to create a subform with drop down combo boxes in the Books form linking multiple authors to each books indexed field. The Author table contains the usual FirstName, LastName, MiddleName fields. I would to be able to display the names of each author in the forms header but I am having difficulty.
For example a book may have two authors such as:
Authors table would contain values such as
Last Name: Grisham First Name: John
Last Name: Twain First Name: Mark
Textbox in header would display: John Grisham; Mark Twain
The authors would be displayed in the following format in the same order as listed in the subform datasheet.
Firstly, is it possible to hide unchecked values in a listbox? I have a user with several roles and I want to only show the ticked roles in the listbox.
Secondly, can you create a hyperlink on listbox values? i.e, if I click on "Manager" in the roles listbox, it follows that to another form and opens the record about managers?
I have searched all the forms but could'nt find any answer which would help me , I have created a listbox , it works fine till the moment i set its 'Multi select' property to SIMPLE or EXTENDED , the minute i do that i get no results in my query , could someone please help me with this , i really really need to get this workin!! I have also uploaded my database so u could try it yourself...
I have a database in Microsoft access 2010. The database has a table that stores prospective customer records, and a form that is used to input a search criteria(s) via textboxes, which then queries prospective customers table and returns the records that contain the inputted search criteria(s).
An Example of Textboxes values on the search criteria form: Textbox - name: bob Textbox - address: Left blank Textbox - category: car,boat,truck
I Have tried creating a query with the following
field: name criteria: like “*” & name & “*” field: address criteria: like “*” & address & “*” field: category criteria: like “*” & category & “*”
SQL code: SELECT customerName ,address,category FROM prospectiveCustomers WHERE customerName LIKE “*” & name & “*” AND address LIKE “*” & address& “*” AND category LIKE “*” & category& “*”;
That works, but only for one value in a textbox. Once there is more than one value in a textbox (e.g name: bob,smith), the query returns no records.
I have also tried splitting the values using the comma as a delimmter, then inserting the values into a new table. That is fine until one of the search criteria textboxes has been left blank. So the query I created will run, but returns no records.
SQL CODE: SELECT prospectiveCustomers.name, prospectiveCustomers.address,prospectiveCustomers. category FROM prospectiveCustomers, [SearchCriteria-name], [SearchCriteria-address],[SearchCriteria-category] WHERE prospectiveCustomers.name Like [SearchCriteria-name].name AND prospectiveCustomers.address LIKE [SearchCriteria-address].address AND prospectiveCustomers.category LIKE [SearchCriteria-address].category;
i am trying to insert multiple values that i have selected in my listbox to my database access table when i click the "add record button" but the values does not appear in my database table.
i have 2 listbox, when i select the first list box(businessNature) it will display the records in the 2nd list box(lstCuisine). However, the records in the the lstCuisine list box is not entered into the table in my database.
(ps: in my property sheet for my lstCuisine listbox its multi select is simple)
Here is my codes:
Private Sub Add_Record_Click() If IsNull(Name) = True Or IsNull(Mobile) = True Or IsNull(Email) = True Or IsNull(CompanyName) = True Or IsNull(BusinessNature) = True Then MsgBox "Please fill in Business Nature, Name, Contact, Email and Company Name" Else DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec End If Dim conceptValue As String
Access 2010 - I would like to use DLookup to show results values from a table and display in a unbound textbox on a form. the results from each column in the table need to be on seperate lines, a break if you may. Here is the code I have so far.
Whenever I create a combobox, Access asks me if I want to grab the values from another table, or if I just want to manually input the possible values.
My question is: is one of the two solutions "better" than the other?
Let's imagine I am creating a Form where I can create a new Contact, and in a listbox (with multiple selections allowed) I want to list the possible character traits, so I have
I think that if I need to store in the Contact records these possible traits, I will have to create a Many-to-Many relationship (therefor creating a junction table) between Contact and Traits.
On the other hand, could I do everything without grabbing values from an extra table and directly inputting the values in the listbox? How would these elements be stored in the Contact record if I allow multiple values in one single field?
I am working on a personal expense ledger. On a particular field that is labeled [expense/income], and a field labeled [amount]. the [expense/income]field is a listbox field "with expense and income as the values. Here is what i want to do. when i select income from the listbox i want it to sum the total in the amount] field, and if i select expense i want it to subtract the total in the [amount] field. i hope i explain it correctly.
I'm using Access 2010, though am also familiar with Access 2007. I have a listbox populated with a query (concatenated last and first names with a bound ID field that's invisible). One of my users asked if it would be possible to search the listbox by more than the first letter of the name. As it stands now, if you type Smith, the focus would go to the first name starting with the letter "H", rather than Smith.
I've spent a lot of time researching this and come to the conclusion that this functionality does not exist within a listbox. However, I've discovered, a popular suggestion is to change the listbox to a combobox, which has this functionality. Since my listbox is multiselect, that would not work for me.
I have a field named Supplies Expense. As an analyst inputs a business's expenses, it may require multiple entries into this one field. What is the best way to accomplish this?
For example:
Supplies Expense (Field Name) [$0.00]
The analyst has the following data:
2009 Financial Statement Paper $50 Depreciation Expense N/A Ink $100
So, going down the list, the analyst goes into access and enters $50 for paper then later needs to enter $100 for ink.
What is the best way to combine these multiple entries into a single Supplies Expense field and allow for a quality check of the individual numbers at the end of the project?
I have a subformClientOffers on my frmAllProperties. On the subformClientOffers is a field called Outside Agents. This field allows for multiple values to be selected.
The subfrmClientOffers is in datasheet view.
While the field Outside Agents DOES allow me to select more than one, they post in the field one after another:
Ken Shaw, John Doe, Jane Doe, Harlan Bestlyn
Therefore, the datasheet view of the subformClientOffers causes the field Outside Agents to get very long, much too long to view without scrolling. My client wishes for everything on the frmAllProperties to be viewable without scrolling.
Is there anyway, to cause the field Outside Agents to place a return between each selected name (sort of a wrap text kind of thing)?
One thing I might mention is that the field is a drop down field from tblOutsideAgents. The table itself has First Name and Last Name, but I concatenated that into Fullname on the form, so that when the user opens the drop down they see the entire name. I don't know if that would have any effect on making the 'return' thing work or not.
I can't use this field as a subdatasheet because I already have one subdatasheet attached to the subform to show multiple notes on each Client Offer.
I have imported an Excel table with a column which has several values in one cell separated by "". In my case names of institutions afiliated with a patent. Example of the format of a single cell: MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (US) RIVE TECHNOLOGY INC (US)
In order to normalize the Access database I would like to extract the institutions to a separate table (institutions) and that the patent is related to both institutions.
I'm trying to set the control source for a control on my report that describes the number of portions that goes into a box. Sometimes there is a specific number of portions per box and sometimes it's a range. When the number of units is specific, then it is entered into the MasterCaseMinUnits Field. If there is a range of units possible than the min is entered into MasterCaseMinUnits and the max is entered into the MasterCaseMaxUnits.
I want my report to look at the mastercasemaxunits, if it is blank it will only display what is in the MasterCaseMinUnits field. If there is a value in the masterCasemaxUnits field, then it will display the masterCaseMinUnits & " - " & MasterCaseMaxUnits. this is the code I'm Using:
i have three tables (one for each production line) which people input data into everyday and the data is different each day depending on the part numbers and number produced. I want to create a report that shows me the part numbers and amount produced by each line for a certain day.
I've tried putting all three in the same query put i get 300 repeating results when i should only get about 20 unique ones. I've also tried making three seperate queries and combining them into one but this gives the same result.
Also I've tried having sub-reports for each table for individual queries, but this then just prompts me to enter the date multiple times or gets stuck in a continuous loop of date entry.
There is a text box in a form that user can enter the value. How can I check if the value entered by user is already existed in the record of the linked table or not? If the value (or record) do not exist, that new value/record will be added to the table. If the value do exist, just show the msgbox to indicate.
I would like to type a value into a list box and then press a command button and have that value transfer to a list box for later use. I've been playing with the onclick event of my command button and this is what I have so far:
Code:
Option Compare Database Private Sub Command4_Click() List0.AddItem Text2.Text List0.ListIndex = List0.ListCount - 1 End Sub
When I click the button I get an error:
2185 - You can't reference a property or method for a control unless the control has the focus.
I am currently developing a database to provide a friend with an auction tracking and ordering system.
I will have a number of questions the first is related to the Home Page/Dashboard/Summary form I am creating. I basically have a few sections, one of which is a combo box offering the user to select an auction to view in the summary section. This summary section contains the list of lots but I also hope to to expand on this and create multiple text boxes, each containing the answer to a number of queries (totals etc).
I have written all the queries and can see the results however as the form does not have a record source I would like to know how to make each text box populate with the result of different queries (ideally in vb - I am using ms access 2010)?
I have tried a few things, control source doesn't apply as I have no record source (i guess). I investigated Dlookup/Dcount but am unsure if these apply for the same reason. I understand I am likely to need a recordset etc in vb and have already tried a few things but unfortunately none of them work.
I have a drop down box where I select a Retailer. When this choice is made I want the last invoice entry to appear in a text box. I have attempted this by creating a query which contains the top 1 invoice in descending order. My dropdown box Event updates a hidden List box using List677. Requery and List677 has a SELECT statement in Row Source
So far so good this bit works
I want to use this value as a default in a Textbox. I thought I could use the same trick to populate the Textbox as I did the Listbox so i tried Text232. Requery after the List677. Requery in the Event above. But no it does not update. The only time the textbox updates is if the Listbox is in Focus and as I said this List box is Hidden. How can I get the textbox to change in real time... I would use the Listbox but i need to be able to change the value of the contents to run reports, I just want a default value.
textBox Default Value: =[List677] textBox Control Source: =[List677]
List677 Row Source: SELECT LastInvoice.Invoice FROM LastInvoice;
Here's a link to a post with background (see the relationships image at the top): [URL] .....
So I got everything to work exactly as I wanted it to.. the listbox has its rowsrc manually changed via VB on form open or record change... so everytime the record changes or the form opens, VB creates a query string that pulls the TFE_Num and TFE_Name from the DB for only those records where the forms current key (me.key.value) equals the TFE_key values. And everything works.
The problem is that this VB based query is very slow... so everytime the record changes, we wait 1-5 seconds for this listbox to pull data and display it. My question is this: Is there a better way to do this, some way that doesn't require VB based SQL statement. I'm asking because all the non-listbox controls on the form use a control source and they get updated instantaniously on form open or record move, but the list boxes that are unbound and are populated using VB SQL are really slow... and there are really only 1 or 2 records ever displayed in the list box.
I have tried to set the rowsource for the list box within the properties tab and comment out the VB SQL code, but haven't succeeded. I suspect the issue is that the form is linked to all fields in the master table while the list box is linked to a 1st and 2nd generation child table... I just can't get it to work! I've tried simple adding the TFE tables and fields to the forms record source poperties, but when I do that I can only navigate to records that have TFEs associated with them.
I suspect I could resolve the issue myself, if only access queries allowed "me.key.value" to be used in the WHERE statement. Am I correct that you cannot do this in Accesses query builder or the SQL version? When I tried, it worked but then I notices the me.key.value got converted to a number (the first record) when it ran the first time.
