Button And OnClick Event

Oct 2, 2006

Attached is a project I am working on. It's a personal reminder program. The problem I am having is that when I enter the actual completion date at the bottom and click on the "Complete Task" button, I want the record to be copied to the History table, then the Start Date and Due Dates reset based on the Frequency. If someone could look at the On Click event procedure for this button and help me get this fixed, I would appreciate it very much. I don't know much about VB or SQL coding.

Thanks,
Jim

Create A Filter In Onclick Event Of A Button

Jul 14, 2015

I have two fields [InReview] and [TestReviewed].I'm trying to create a filter in the Onclick event of a button like so:

Code:
Me.Filter = "InReview Is Not Null" & "TestReviewed Is Not Null"
Me.FilterOn = true

This is not working for some reason. What is the correct way to concatenate a filter in VBA?

Modules & VBA :: Creating One OnClick Event For All Labels On Form

Mar 18, 2014

I would like to make clickable labels on my form, so if the user has any questions about the field, clicking on the label would bring up a message box that would give them more information. I know how to write onclick events one by one for every label, but there are a lot of them, and I feel like there has to be a better way.

I put the label names, and the text I'd like for the message box in a table, and I'd like to have a module that will allow me to click on a label, and have the right text come up.

I've researched ways to do this and have come up with nothing. The farthest I've gotten is an array tied to the form open event that just displays all the message boxes from first to last, one after the other. I believe that's on the right track, but is not a workable solution as is. I need to be able to tie the message box to the actual label the user clicks.

Modules & VBA :: Assign OnClick Event To Control Through Code

May 27, 2014

Visual Studio IDE environment and I have been working with Access VBA for almost a year now.

I am very used to generating my form controls in runtime and being able to create some cool user interface interactions by being able to say btnExample.OnClick += MyDynamicClickFunction

MyDynamicClickFunction(Object sender, EventArgs e).... code

Any way to assign functions to the events of already made controls on a form. Probably during the load event?

Now I have found that there are many ways to replicate Visual Studio's features by accessing User32 and replicating them

Forms :: Continuous Subform - OnClick Event For Text Box

Apr 2, 2015

I have a continuous subform which essentially comprises of a textbox that shows a field from a query.

The text in that box is essentially a few letters and a few numbers - what I am wondering is if I can have an on click event for the textbox, that when a user clicks the text it takes them to the record (in a different form) that matches the text contained in the textbox they clicked?

Modules & VBA :: Setting OnClick Property Causes Immediate Launch Of Event Procedure

I tried to dynamically set image OnClick property to function with couple of attributes. Everything works well, but... it launches the function automatically without any mouse click! What is causing this? I want to execute the function only on the result of mouse click.

Piece of code:

Forms!Form1.Controls("Image" & i).OnClick = fclick(PiltID)

Private Function fclick(u)
DoCmd.OpenForm "Form2"
Forms!Form2.Image0.Picture = u

Forms :: Using OnClick Event To Open Query Text Displayed In Form Field?

Oct 10, 2013

I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.

One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.

But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .

Forms :: Change Records Source And Run Query - Onclick Event Of Command Button

Apr 8, 2013

I have a tabbed form in a navigation form with a chart on it. The records source of the chart is a query. The query runs when you click the tab and takes a long time. I changed the Row Source of chart to "" and that eliminates the query running on form load. I've read many posts on changing that row source when a command button is clicked. I tried

Code:
Me!Suspend_Trending_Dashboard![chart].RecordSource = suspend_trend_CHART

in the onclick event of the command button. This doesn't work. I've tried many variations of the syntax. I don't know if I have to tell the query to run after the row source is changed.

On a side note, the query criteria is based on beginning and end dates entered into text boxes on the form. This all works if the query loads when the form is opened.

I am trying to build an email string and have been sucessful...although there are times when the Email Field in my table may not have a value....

THe problem is that I can click the Msgbox that gives me the varialbe from strTo endlessly....I am stuck in the loop...it never gets to EOF???

It never even gets passed the first record it finds...

Something is messed up....

Anyone have any thoughts...

Modules & VBA :: Checking For Key Presses In On Click Event

Jul 25, 2014

I have a button on a form and I want the On Click event behind it to check whether Shift is also being pressed when the user clicks the button (or Ctrl, or Alt, in fact any damn key will do).

I can't believe that there isn't a function in VBA like the old 1980s BASIC 'inkey' function (etc) that just simply returns the code of any key being held down at the time of the scan. I shouldn't have to mess around programming other events like KeyDown and KeyUp when I don't particularly need the key-press to trigger an event per se.

Queries :: Checking Query For Null And Setting Operations

May 30, 2014

I have been working on an application where I am collecting survey data in a database. There are multiple survey tools available to the user, and it's possible to complete multiple survey tools in the survey. My problem is, it's possible for the surveyor to complete some tools on one day and other tools on another day. I am having problems with trying to figure out how to add a tool that has not been previously added and keep in the same survey which is all held under a single Survey Number.

The first step in the function is to set a Record Number temporary variable based on whether or not the tool has been used (it's possible to use multiple instances of a survey tool, so need to know if the Record Number is '1', or the next number in the sequence.I've been trying to do this by checking a query for a Null and setting the temporary variable using something like:

IF ISNull("RecordNumber","qryRecordHeader") Then '1'
Else
DLast("RecordNumber","qryRecordHeader") +1
End IF

The second half works just fine, so if there is a previous record, it will add. But if it's Null, it doesn't work.I'm trying to avoid opening a temporary form to run the query and checking a field. Is there a way around that?

Tables :: Updating Fields In Multiple Tables Without Onclick Event

Oct 23, 2013

I am working on a database which has two tables used as part of a registration and login process.

I would like a couple of fields from table one to automatically update in table two, once the fields in table one are populated without using an 'on click' event.

The reason I would prefer not to use an onclick is because the completion of the form used to generate the users table does not require any buttons for the data to save.

General :: Code For OnClick Zoom A Image

May 5, 2015

I am new to VBA for access. I am working on a form as a user interface. I have added an picture to the form. It looks small, and not clear because of the size, and each image has different size. I would like to know if there is a VBA code that will allow me to click on it, and then it will open in another window so it is bigger with the right sizes. I attempted like this:

Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "Prova", , , "Campo1=" & Campo1

but don't work

Prova is another form and Campo1 is the field with the picture.

I also need to save about 120,000 images. I wonder if the best solution is to use the attachment for the field type or another. What format should I Whereas in the mask I preview. And if Access internally saves the images or not.

Do While Len(StrFile) > 0

The problem with this is if there are 2 files with Test (Test, Test - Copy) It gives me 2 separate message boxes. The first with Test. Then a second message box with the second file, Test - Copy. I want to combine both of the message boxes in to one. So the message box would look like:

Modules & VBA :: Error (Invalid Use Of Null) In A Function Called From A Form Current Event

Nov 18, 2013

I am struggling trying to execute a function inside a Form_current event to display some stats.

The Function is this:

Code:
Function FlightsByAircraft(Aircraft As Long) As Long
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim dbs As DAO.Database
Dim str As String
str = "SELECT * FROM tblFlights WHERE AircraftID = " & Aircraft

[Code] ....

The code for the Form_Current event is this:

Private Sub Form_Current()
txtStats1 = FlightsByAircraft(Me.AircraftID)

Very simple. Well, the problem is when I move to a new record, a error message comes up: "Run-time error '94' - Invalid use of Null". It is because the AircraftID is not populated at that time. I tried to insert in the function code something like that:

Code:
If IsNull(Aircraft) then
exit function
else
.... (the DAO.Recordset code)

but it doesn't work.

Checking For Similar Data While Using A Form In Access 97

Jan 18, 2006

I work for a voluntary organisation in a hospital environment. Older patients coming into A&E will get sent a letter from us offering help.

We send out about 3,000 letters a year and have just over this number of records on our simple Access 97 database.

The problem I have is when we enter data using a Form in the field Address Line 1 if we have sent a letter to this address before I want somehow for the program to inform me of this. However, I do not want it to stop me from entering the same address again so I can't use the No Duplicates option. The reason being, we may have sent the patient a letter six months ago in which case we would want him to receive another but if we only sent him a letter say 3 weeks ago then we wouldn't send him another. Alternatively, his wife may now be a patient and will get sent a letter.

At present we look at the admissions list, sort our table into Surname order and check if they have been sent one previously, however this is very time consuming and would value anyone's thoughts.

Unfortuantely, I can't program so tend to use the design features and wizards of Access 97

Does this makes sense?

I appreciate the time any of you may take in answering this Thread. As you can see I am a newbie to this. Thank you in advance.

Robin

Tables :: Keep Track Of Checking In And Out - Where Archive Data Stored

Oct 3, 2014

In the case of a system that keeps track of checking in and out (e.g. library books), where is the archive data stored? If a person makes 30 trips to the library, obviously one record will be the current visit - but where do you keep the 29 other visits?

Do you create a separate table for old check-outs: Current_Check_Out and Archive_Check_Out?

Or do you just leave the data in place and as-is: All_Check_Outs?

Modules & VBA :: Checking If Data Entered In Form Field Exist

Jan 17, 2015

I want to check if data entered in a form field is existed

The form is bounded to a table

I used this code

If DLookup("Telegram_Number", "tbl_Violation_Of_Building", "Telegram_Number Like " & Forms!frm_Add_Violation_Building!Telegram_Number) Then
MsgBox ("number existed")
Me.Telegram_Number = ""
Else
End If

everything is ok but if the data is existed the database show the message and clear the field but i'm getting a Run-time error

'-2147352567(80020009)': the macro or function set to the beforeupdate or validationRule property for this field is preventing [ISF] from saving the data in the field

I guess the problem because the form is bounded to a table so he will save automatically

My solution is to unbound the fields and save the data via vba but is there any solution with a bounded form???
