I am trying to get windows server 2012 task scheduler to open my access database. When the task runs all that I see happen is the locking file will appear on my desktop and I have to go to the task manager and kill it to make it stop. I tried a .bat file to open it as well and im still getting the same thing. If I just click on the database and open it manually it runs just fine.
View RepliesJust got a new Windows 7 computer and installed Office 2013. I have a report that saves itself as a pdf in a temp folder and then attaches the pdf to an email and sends it out. I use a macro to run the report and everything works fine from there. I have a VBS file that runs the macro and clicking the vbs file makes everything work fine. the code is below.
When I tried to run it though the task scheduler it show as completing fine, but it doesn't. So I added a reference the vbs in a batch file (below) and output the logs to a temp file. After I ran the batch and opened the log I seen the message

I turned UAC all the way down. turn off the virus scanner, and have local and domain admin access. I'm at bit a lose here. I had this working before but can't seem to remember how I did it. This is just one example I have several other reports that were schedule to run overnight, but they basically all use the same code and processes.

I have an Access database that sends an email to users when there is an exception in the query. It works fine when I run it from Windows 7, but when I use task scheduler I get an error message;
Runtime error 429 activex component can't create object
and the error stops a;
Set olapp = New Outlook.Application
It only happens when i run it from Task Scheduler.

WHen I used Windows task scheduler to start my application, and then close the application normally, the application closes but Access is left running, still visible in the task bar. The only way I can get it to close is by using task manager to kill it. I found an old KB article ( # 246953) that hints that this (or something like it) is a known bug in Access 2000 but supposedly was resolved by an Office 2000 service pack 2. But I am already running Windows XP, SP2. Anyone else having this problem? Any workarounds?
I am creating a small database to record payments.
There are three tables :
Supplier - tblSupplier
Payments - tblPayments
Invoice - tblInvoice
There are two Forms :
frmPayments (Bound to tblPayments) - Main Form for payment entry.
frmInvoice Sub (Bound to tblInvoice) - Sub form to display not paid invoices.
What i need is a Command button , lets named it "Commit", to perform a few tasks :
1. When click, prompt message asking whether to Save current payment record when all relevant input is completed during data entry.
2. If Answer is "Yes", then it will compare the "Invoice No" on the Main Form with the "Invoice No" of the Sub
Form , and if found to match, then put a tick in the "Yes/No" field of Invoice Table (tblInvoice) against the matching "Invoice No" of Main Form. This is to record payments made to this particular Invoice in Invoice Table.
3. Proceed to save current record, Refresh Main Form to be ready for a new data entry.
4.If Answer is "No", discard all current entries in the Main Form, Refresh to be ready for a new data entry.

Is there a way to always keep the task pane open? Right now when I open a file from the list on the task pane displayed under OPEN, the task pane disappears when the file opens. Then when I open the task pane again by clicking on the little white sheet of paper icon at upper left for "new", the task pane opens but the recent list of files used has collapsed and I have to click on the little house at top right to display the list of recently used files again so I can open one of them. Is there a way to keep both the task pane and the list of recently used files open at all times? Thanks.

What's happening is that my Outlook email is failing because a Namespace Logon method cannot be invoked when there is no user logged in. I must jump over that statement when running from a scheduler.
I've been working on a database for the past month and all of a sudden I'm getting an error "the microsoft jet database engine could not find the object 'database'" and when I click ok nothing is showing (i.e. no project window or anything). I normally do backups on something this large but for some reason I didn't on this one. The size of the file is still large but doesn't look like anything is in it.I've tried opening a new one and link and import everything but I get the same error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem. This problem is that I cant see the Database objects (Forms,Report,...) in the Windows task bar. I want the user to be able to see any opened form, or report directly in the task bar as any file opened by the Windows user.
I have tried to check on the (Show Windows in TaskBar) option available in the Tools -> options of the MS Access, but it doesn work with me.
What is happening now that I am forced to show the Menu Bar and use the Window menu to switch between the objects, however, This will not be OK for me because my system hides all the command bars the MS Acccess use.
Is the any way to solve this hard problem?
I'm having problems with my database. It was on a USB memory stick and suddenly I got a message to format the entire USB memory. I managed to retrieve the files on the USB and loaded them onto anothe USB, but when I tried to open the database I got the message:
"Cannot open database ". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt."
However, when I tried it on another computer I managed to open the database but when I was closing it I got the same message again. The database is working OK, but how do I get rid of the message?
I am probably staring right at it - but where is the option to set Access 2010 so that it automatically opens a specified database on startup?

The database is unsupported and we need to migrate the data to a new web based database.

I work in three different databases, but for one of them (the main company db), if I right clicked the pinned Access program on the taskbar and click the pinned database, it does nothing if someone else has the file open already. If the file isn't open, it'll pop up with an "Unknown publisher" warning (new, never happened before this), but it'll open the file. If someone has the database open, it doesn't flicker or even try, it just does nothing.
I am able to open Access and click on the database in the "Recent files" and have it open that way. I don't know what to troubleshoot, its like it's not seeing the file, but I can go to the properties on the pinned db and it shows the correct file location. I'm the only one having this issue, the other users here can right click the pinned program and open the file like normal.
I've rebooted my computer; unpinned and removed from list; compacted and repaired; nothing is making a difference.
All of the sudden I get an error message when I try to open my database from a file rather than through Access. If I open Access first and open the file that way, there is no problem but if I click on it from Windows Explorer, I get the error.

My idea is this:
1. CSV is downloaded to <x> folder.
2. Scheduled Task runs script to look in folder <x>
3. If CSV is found in folder <x>, import it's data into a fixed Access db->table.
4. Move CSV to an archive folder to avoid re-processing.
Is this feasible? How complicated would it be, and how to get it on track?

I have a database that has a main form, and from that main form there are buttons that open their respected forms. I am curious as to how I control the size of all of my forms. They are all pop-ups at the moment. It all works fine on my monitor, but when opened on a smaller monitor it is too big and I can't even see the bottom of the screen. The main form is set to open automatically after the user logs into the database and it opens to fit the screen. also, all of my forms are modals.
