General :: Performing Multiple Database Action On Button
Jul 11, 2012
I am writing an application for my personal use. I have 2 Access databases, one contains the data tables and the other has the forms, queries, reports, etc.
So far, I have been able to use the queries in the Row Source property of my form objects to accomplish what I want to do. Now I want to have a button that appends records to a table, the data in the table comes from several different controls on my form. After doing this the button should requery another control to display the new records added.
The OnClick event for the button allows me to use a Macro builder, Expression builder or Code builder. If I choose to use DAO in VBA code to append the records, do I have to define the database to create a database object to use even though the database is already open? Can I use a Macro to do this? Can a macro reference the data that is in the controls on my form?
I've created a simple database, with tables, forms etc but I've got stuck when I've tried to insert a 'Button' onto the HOME page which when pressed will display an invoice and give you the option of emailing to client or printing.
I think I've gotten messed up in my relationships or the macros which I've copied from another access template.
on the home screen, I click 'new quote' then 'view quote' when the window pops up and then when it tries to generate the invoice I get the error
I am having trouble making a command button do what I want. I have a subform within my form, but I only want it to appear when I click the button. I tried using the wizard but there is no option to open subform, only open form. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
On Error GoTo Err_Command124_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String stDocName = "PRINTSQUARE 1" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, 3, , , , 4
An command button would open a form to display some query result, and how could I do something after user exit that form!! I have tried to put some action afater the Docmd and EXIT_COMMAND124_CLICK:, both didn't work!!
I've got a continuous form, with a button (cmd1) on each record. Each record has a unique primary key, RecordID. cmd1 is clicked to open a form (frm1) based on the RecordID using the following code:
I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."
I am using VBA in Access 2013 to make a PowerPoint presentation using data from the access database. know if it is possible to use Access VBA to create a button in the presentation that runs a procedure itself?
I have a table to store "issues" with fields Issue name(text), target date(date) and status (combo box-active & pending statuses). default status for new issue is active. when clicking a button i want to change the status of every record to "pending" status (combo box value should be pending) if the target date<current date.
i would like to log every action any member does on my database.i will have a log in screen(passworded) and i would like to record every button clicked. the only thing is i would like to include other things in the record aswell. like record changes. is there a neat little trick to do this or is it just going to be very labour intensive.
i want to ask is there any way to open another access database using when click button at form.. for example i have tracking.accb then at my switchboard form, i would like to have a button that can go to another access which is borrow.accb. can these possible for me to do it..?
I have an Access 2007 database which has a form on which is a button to dial the currently selected phone number. All works fine. My intention is to send out partial databases to people not having access installed and they will use the access runtime module.
When the same database is run using the runtime it does not dial and does not give an error message. It just stays the same as though I didn't press the dial button.
I have this database with the purpose to storage all the tasks that are done in my team. I have a table named Tasks with all their fields. Now, I would like to set a more user friendly way for clients to update this table. I have created another table with a list of most common tasks, so when a client wants to add their tasks list they can choose one of this tasks and add it to the list. I had created a form with multiple items that contains the common tasks and next to each task a button that adds the information they choose into the table "Tasks". This works just fine. However, I would like to add a single button at the top to add all the tasks instead of having to choose one after one.
The "Add All tasks" button has this code:
Private Sub Command79_Click() Dim valSelect As Variant, MyDB As DAO.Database, MyRS As DAO.Recordset Set MyDB = CurrentDb() Set MyRS = MyDB.OpenRecordset("Tasks", dbOpenDynaset)
I have an Access Form called Database_Form, with a text box called Text22, and a button called Command42.
I also have a table, and query, as following:
Table 1, as in the below example:
Row_Number as Column header, and values 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, as rows.
Column1 as Column header, and values 0026007101, 0026007102, 0026007103, 0026007104, 0026007105, as rows.
Query 2, which has the criteria [Forms]![Database_Form]![Text22] for Row_Number Field.
Basically, i want that each time when i press the button Command42 and having the text box filled with value 1 (for row number 1), to repeat this step, but taking the next row_number and so on, until it finishes the last row.
The Query 2, should sequentially select the row number given in the text box, based on a VBA Code or something.
Everytime i want to make some changes to my "Testing" Database , always got somebody using it / opening it...
I am trying to create a button , the function of the button is close "Testing" access database who using it or opening it , Example : 5 users included me in a company , when I click a button , 4 of them will received a notification with close "Testing" database message , can do that ?
frmPayments (Bound to tblPayments) - Main Form for payment entry. frmInvoice Sub (Bound to tblInvoice) - Sub form to display not paid invoices.
What i need is a Command button , lets named it "Commit", to perform a few tasks :
1. When click, prompt message asking whether to Save current payment record when all relevant input is completed during data entry.
2. If Answer is "Yes", then it will compare the "Invoice No" on the Main Form with the "Invoice No" of the Sub
Form , and if found to match, then put a tick in the "Yes/No" field of Invoice Table (tblInvoice) against the matching "Invoice No" of Main Form. This is to record payments made to this particular Invoice in Invoice Table.
3. Proceed to save current record, Refresh Main Form to be ready for a new data entry.
4.If Answer is "No", discard all current entries in the Main Form, Refresh to be ready for a new data entry.
What code should I use for the system to carry out a certain action every time it is a certain date of every month. eg if the date is 5th, the system should invoice all tenants with rent of the value of the house they live in. I am unable to work with the date changes.
Every time we get to a new month, I want the rent system to update the rent balance value.
Basically, I'm compiling a table of funding sources and whilst all the fields are relatively straight forward, how best to approach the matter of where the funding is available. For example, Funding A is available in America only, Funding B is available in America, Canada and Europe and Funding C is available Internationally etc (a huge number of possible options and infinite different combinations). How's best for me to lay this out because there will be hundreds of funding sources all with different availability criteria? If the field name is 'Countries funding is available', can a data type input be multiple entries?
Ultimately I'll want to be able to query show all funding sources available internationally or show those available to America and Canada only etc...and when I query on another field or show all, I'll want to see where each of the funding sources are available, listed out .
I've prepared a front end database with forms that allow data to be keyed into linked tables to my main databse.
However, currently the front end database only allows 1 user to do it at 1 time and when another user tries to open the file, an error "The Database Has Been Placed in a State by User on Machine That Prevents It From Being Opened or Locked'
Is there anyway to allow multiple users to use the front end database at the same time?
My users do a fair bit of copy/paste from any number of sources.
How do I force the paste action to strip out any hidden characters? Now I realize that a return and a space are hidden characters, so how do I strip out everything but the ones that I want?
I have a split database with the backend on our server. When I go to my server and look at all the open files on the network everyone who is in the backend shows up twice. One has zero locks and the other has multiple locks.
I have a form that has several sub forms and what I want is that if the user chooses Plan Name in the main form "No Fault" or 'Workers Comp". I want message to pop and go to the field in the subform to enter data but I keep on getting an error.
Private Sub Plan_Name_AfterUpdate() If ([Plan Name] = "No Fault") Then MsgBox "Enter additional information in No Fault form before continuing." DoCmd.GoToControl ([NoFaultWCompsubForm]![Attorney Name]) End If End Sub
It says the action or method requires a control name argument?
I have two separate database files, a front end with all my forms and a back end with all my tables. The backend is stored on a network drive, is there any way of being able to store the frontend on the drive with the backend? Users do not use the actual computer to store information or access files, everything is usually saved on the network drive. I have created a shortcut that launches the front end database in the read only kiosk mode.
Twice a year, a database of mine is accessed and put too use by various staff within a time range of 1 week. the database is on a shared drive and in a location which can be accessed by all.
The staff access the database from different workstations and in some instances at the same time.
This has only led to issues in the database being copied and then confusing staff on what database to click on thus i have 2 databases which i then have to sift through and copy/paste into the correct one.
I want to know the best way i can:
1) Prevent multiple users accessing the database at a time. 2) making a copy of the original and typing into a separate database.
