General :: Populate Unbound Textbox With Combo Box After Update Event
Nov 13, 2012
I am populating a table using combo boxes in a continuous form. The box box alone works fine without any issue of repeated data. But as you know obviously the combo box only populates data in a single column of the table, in which case mine is the LASTNAME; so now I am attempting to populate a unbound textbox with the FIRSTNAME side-by-side with the combo box for the same record.
In the After Update event of the cboLASTNAME:
Code:
Me.txtFIRSTNAME = Me.cboLASTNAME.Column(3)
However, after updating the the combo the textbox data is repeated.
I am trying to populate a list box with an event after update in a combo box. I can get the formula to work using 2 criteria, the problem is i nee to add a third criteria. When I try to add it I get the run-time 13 error.
Here is the code I am trying to use:
Private Sub cboStatusRFQ_AfterUpdate() Me.cboSupplier.RowSource = "SELECT DISTINCT [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Contact] " & _ "FROM Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool " & _ "WHERE consolidated_master_req_pool.Complete = FALSE AND [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Supplier] = '" & Nz(cboStatusRFQ.Value) & "'" And "[cosolidated_master_req_pool.Status] = '" & "[SUPPLIER_RFQ FOLLOW-UP]" & "'" & _ "ORDER BY [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Contact];" Me.cboSupplier = Null End Sub
I have a form with a textbox which when users enter a unique number(barcode) I want to run a query which pics up the barcode number, checks against the product id and fills the subform with the name of the product and price.
The basic details of the product table is like:
product id (Autonumber) prdoduct name (text) price barcodeId (number)
The subform where i want the result to go is the order details fields product name and price.
I am trying to figure out how to do this but my mind keeps going blank, its been a long while since i used ms access.
I am new to access and have been staring at the same Run-time error for 3 days (pathetic I know). I cannot for the life of me figure out why it does not like my Dlookup. Esentially, I want and After Update event in my combo box to populate a Rich text textbox in my form. After reading DLookup is the easiest way to make this happen. Here is my code:
I'm trying to populate a form textbox which is unbound.
I have table with a list of peoples login names and a query filtering these names once a user logs in. If the GetUserName() matches one of the names in the table then user is authorised. this part seems to be working fine. User not on the GetUserName() list the filter says blank ie Not Authorized.
How to take this confirmed user name and place it into a textbox on a form?
Table name: [tblUserNames] with [IngEmpID] & [UserName]
Query Name: [qryUserNames] with a Criteria GetUserName()
I'm having a problem with one of my forms, i have created an unbound text box called Hours. In it i will type a number. Then click on a button to create a report based on this number.
what is happening though is that when i click the report button the report is blank, if i close the report and then click the button again i get the expected results. What seems to happening is that after i click the button the first time the form refreshes itself and the number is picked up.
Is there any snippit of code i could add to the print report button so it will work first time?
My form has a button that opens another form on which I enter meeting RSVPs. Then that form is exited. I have an unbound text box on the main form that I want to show the total number coming. I have a summation query that totals the number. I have tried everything I can think of to force the text box to requery. I tried putting the dlookup in the textbox itself, then I removed that and tried all of the things below, both in the gotfocus event and the onCurrent event. What else can I do to trigger the recalc?
Private Sub Form_GotFocus() Me.numcomingtxtbox.Value = DLookup("howmanycoming", "numcoming") & " Coming" Me.numcomingtxtbox.Requery Me.Recalc End Sub
I am updating a value in an unbound control on an unbound form. When the value in the control is changed I want a sequence of code to execute. Specifically changing the record source of a subform and refreshing it.
The problem I have is that when the value of the unbound text box is control is changed (I am using a button to change the value as a test) the after update event on the text box does not do anything.
I did a simple test using a button to change the value in the text box and in the afterupdate event of the text box asked it to output the value of the textbox to a message box as shown below.
The problem is this does not work, nothing happens. If I tab out of the text box or change the value with the keyboard however the msgbox appears. Just not via a vba change.
Code: Private Sub Prod_ID_AfterUpdate() Dim pid As String pid = Me.Prod_ID MsgBox pid End Sub Private Sub Button_Test_Click() Me.Prod_ID.SetFocus Me.Prod_ID = "TEST" End Sub
As the unbound parent list box record selection is changed, I want the sub form to refresh. Do I put code in the Subform Current Record event?
Master Form Name: frmsr_NewWellEntry Unbound Listbox - when record selected the primary key populates txtNavWellID (unbound) on parent form
subform Container fsubsrNavSHLBHL Link Master Fields =Forms![frmsr_NewWellEntry].[txtNavWellID]
The read-only form in the subform Record Source is something like: select * from vsrNavigatorSHLBHL where Well_ID =90243..Key The Form used as the subform above will be re-used in multiple parent forms. The parent form data is form SQL Server, the subform from Oracle.
This is what I have. What I need is to populate in my form PartNo with the PartNo from tblfbompart and have it populate PartDesc from tblbompart and have it place the information into tblMadeToStockParts PartNo, & PartDesc. Also choose Model from tblModel using a combo box and placing ModelID in tblMadeToStockParts.
tblMadeToStockParts MTSID PartNo PartDesc Model Memo Attachment
tblfbompart fbompartID PartNo PartDesc Category
frmMadeToStockParts MTSID PartNo PartDesc Model Memo Attachment fbompartID ModelID
I have form with an unbound combo box which is populated from a query
It should populate a field in a table which is related to another - however it only works when i query by id number (primary key) and not the text value i want - is it possible to query both so it returns say 1,option 1 - then when selected it will place a 1 in the table - which is related to option 1 in another table instead of just having to select '1' which will mean nothing to a user?
Private Sub Combo1309_AfterUpdate() If Me.Combo1309.Value = "Yes" Then Me.Text1307 = Environ("UserName") Me.Patient_Gender.BackColor = vbYellow ElseIf Me.Combo1309.Value = "No" Then Me.Text1307 = Environ("UserName") Me.Patient_Gender.BackColor = vbRed End If End Sub
I have the above code in an unbound textbox and it functions correctly. Expect, the value Yes/No appears in every record in that textbox,So, if in record 1 the value of that textbox 1309 is Yes in record 2,3,4 the value of that textbox 1309 is set to Yes. How do I make it blank until the user selects the proper choice.
I have a form with 7 types of weights (7 textbox rows) showing 7 weights in kgs and the others in lbs.When the user update any weight-kgs textbox, the opposite weight-lbs textbox will be updated automatically, and viceversa.Now, I'd like a fast way to code this action without writing the After Update_event for every textbox (they're 14).I have already setup textbox tags differently with "WeightKGS" and "WeightLBS", thinking about using "for each ... next" statement, but I have some problems to resolve what I want.
I have created a form to hold students names, ID numbers, dates, etc. On this form I have a combobox that lists various school names only. From this combobox, I wish to select a school, then the address on the school selected appears in textbox/memo field.
I've designed a data entry form based on a table. I use a few combo boxes, (linked via SQL statements for their row/source) to fill most of the fields in the table.
What I want to do is populate one textbox on the form with the contents of a field in one of the combo box's row/source tables. The field I want isn't shown in the combo box.
Basically, what I want is that when I choose a PART NUMBER from a combo box, I want the OEM_ID from the same table to jump into the textbox below it.
I think I may have tied myself in knots though to the point where what I want can't be done. Any ideas? I know this is probably going to take a couple of goes at explaining. :P
I am looking to have a combobox on a unbound form to select a product code (this i can do). However I want a textbox to auto populate with the description as well - both in the same table tblproducts - product_id, pcode, pdesc....
I try to develop an access 2010 Forms that contains 1 or 2 charts. So my problem is, in my form I have 1 combobox and 5 unbound textbox. Inside Event OnChange combobox, there is function DCount that will setup value to the 5 unbound textbox. Until this point, the 5 unbound textbox is have its value.
Now I would like to create a chart that value are based on the 5 unbound text. How can i accomplish this ? i see in many articles, a chart row source is link to a cross tab query.
What really is the best way, programming-wise and user experience-wise when presenting records in a form:
1) Use the form with sub-forms to show records. Add new records via a popup form and use recordsets in VBA to allow validating.
2) Use unbound controls on a form and populate with pure VBA recordsets. For data with more than one row use list boxes. A popup form used for adding new or editing etc using VBA.
3) Another I haven't thought of; new or a combination of above?
I'm using a very simple unbound textbox on a very simple form, with the following Expression to find me data in a query and sum the last 30 days, based on a combo-box on my form...
Only thing is, it's showing me only the data from the last 30 days...regardless of the value in the combo.
=DSum("Credit","qryIncVsExp","TransDate>=#" & Date()-30 & "#" And "AccountID_FK="""&[cboaccount].[column](1)&"")
I'm sure it's something to do with the number of "'s I have, but I'm probably more than likely ever so wrong.
I have a form with an unbound textbox. I want to be able to enter a sequence of digits and spaces (e.g., 02 950 4187); however, when I paste this into the box, I always have to delete the two spaces until the number is 9 digits long. Then it will accept the number and go look for the prize. How do I get the textbox to accept the number I paste in?
How to automatically populate the bound text box with data from a table for a specific entry. This is the code I wrote
Private Sub ListBox_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) Dim ListBoxSel As String ListBoxSel = Me.ListBox.Value Call proc_Update_TxtBoxes(Me.ListBox.Value) DoCmd.Close
I'm working on a project that uses a barcode scanner. The user will scan a barcode which will choose an item from a combo box. The result of what it enters will populate a text box. I have that part working fine.
The next step is to get it to open a form based on the value in the textbox. The textbox will have about 7 different possible values and each one should open a different form.
The way this is supposed to work:
User approaches a machine and scans the barcode. He is presented with a form giving him options based on the type of equipment the machine is. A compressor for example would present him with a set of options for compressors (gauge readings, maintanence, etc).
I have an unbound form with two controls:
cboAssetNumber txtType
How to code this and which events to code it in. Users will be going from machine to machine and using the form over and over again so I need to somehow manage the clearing of the form to begin again with another barcode scan.
I saw another thread about a barcode scanner and one response was to program the scanner to send the barcode and then send an "Enter" press to move focus to the next control. I've looked through the documentation and haven't been able to find if that is possible. Right now it sends the number and that's it. It's a "Motion" Tablet.
I have started converting our Access 2003 to Access 2010 applications. In the past we have used the Calendar to pick a date to place in a textbox. I noticed that this feature will not work in Access 2010.
So I looked around and saw several references to using the calendar pick feature to a textbox...but without success.
How to have a textbox with a calendar icon next to it to populate the chosen date in the textbox?
I am designing a customer information form, the form has an unbound combo box showing customer names and when clicked opens the customer record.
My problem is when I enter a new record, I have a button that saves current and opens new, but when I am in the new record, the customer I just added previously is not showing up on the unbound control, only when I close the form completely and re-open it.
Is there a code to update the unbound combo box when you click to go to new record.
