General :: Popup Form Disappears On Multi Monitor

For example if I open up the Access database on my left monitor, then move it to my right - whenever I switch from design to form mode the form disappears. Moving Access back over to the left monitor will not show the form. Minimizing all windows except Access won't show it either. If I switch to layout view, then form view it will show on the monitor I have Access up on - but if I go back to Design and then form it will disappear again.

If I move Access to the left monitor (in this example). open the form in design and then form view it pops up visible. Seems clear that it ties the opening position of the popup to the monitor Access was opened on.

Form Display To Fit Window (monitor Screen)

I have a form of data base which is being shared by 3-4 persons. The problem being observed is, in Laptop it shows the complete form on screen but in PC of 14" monitor, we have to adjust the seek bar to view the form up/down.
Can there be any solution to automatically fit the form size to monitor size?

Forms :: Form Disappears When Set To Pop Up

In Access 2010, I can't get a form to show up in Pop Up mode without it disappearing. Tried several solutions (most from this message board) with no luck, including:

Set Modal = no
Set Auto Resize = no
Set Auto Center = no
Set Border Style = dialog

There isn't any VBA set to run when the form opens, only on button clicks.I'm able to call out the form to open as acDialog in vba, but this blocks additional code I need to prepopulate the form.So far this happens on all forms I try to set as Pop Up.

General :: Multi Lookup List - Using A Form As Input For Query

I am having trouble using a form as input for a query. The form uses multi select list boxes, with then intention being that if I select multiple fields then only records which include those fields will show (not only fields that contain those and no others).

I also have successfully worked up some keyword searches that I would like to have run on the same query. So say I want to search for two values in my list box, and it also needs to include keyword X... how would I run these all together, or is it possible?The form is "EVR Search Form"..The query is "EVR Query - Trending Filters" and I've also made a copy to test on, "Copy EVR Query - Trending Filters"

Arrgghh Now It Disappears In Form View!

I am making up how to create a database as I go along so I am sure some of the techniques I have used are a bit unconventional! However, I wanted to use data from 2 different tables as control sources, so changed the record source to a query that combined the two tables. I thought this was correct as I could then apply control sources from both tables to fields.

However, now when I click out of design view and into form view, the form/database dissapears. Does anyone know why & how I could resolve this?

I have a form that I can view in Design view and layout view just fine.

BUT --

If I just try to open the form in from view, it disappears somewhere even though it says it's open.

If I view it in Layout view first, then Form view, it shows.

I've removed any code behind to try and figure out what's going on but it still happens.

General :: Popup On Change Of Data

Is it possible to show an alert/reminder any time data in a particular field is entered or changed? It would have to show up if the data was changed in table view or query view.

Until I can write something that will store historical data for these fields, I want to make sure anyone entering information will record the old information in a separate table. Yes, I know this is not the ideal way to store the type of data; but this database has been running for 10+years and is tied in to so many aspects of the company re-writing it is just not an option ...

Monitor Resolution

I just bought a new computer. It came with a GIGANTIC (for me) 19 inch monitor.

Here's the question. What resoution should I set the screen to?
I make databases for others.
If my forms are too big for their monitors they have to use the scroll bars all the time.
If my forms are too small it doesn't look professional.

Advise greatly appreciated.

Does Access quit the import at the double quote character for anyone else.

I am creating payment database for a community gym, the data will be created on a data sheet.

There are 2 payment types monthly and annual (these are on a dropdown box with their own id number).

I have a joining date and a paid date, but reflected against the payment type ie 31 days or 365 days.

I have been trying to do something along the lines of:

if [monthly] (is selected) (so this would call up a 31days) date() is > [joining date] then give message to renew and same kinda thing for annual.

Machine Status Monitor Suitability Opinions

Am fairly certain that I will be asked to design and implement a Machine Status Application.

Description below is very simplistic but believe you will get the idea

Basically simple stuff at Machine Operator. He clicks a command button on a display that signifies machine is okay or not. This updates machine status. Image it just toggles between Running and Stopped.

Each minute little process runs to at 1 to Run value or to Stop value. Okay so this will get a little more complex for sure.

Now I could end up collecting data on say 100 machines. Okay so I would not expect the status change to occur any more than once per hour on average so it would be a bit like having 100 very very slow users on the system.
Now the crunch. What effect (if any) would these 100 very very slow users have on performance and particularly the One much quicker user who is executing preset queries one after another for say 20 seconds every minute.

Thoughts and opinions welcome

I am trying to create an access db to monitor my expenses for my new Snack house.

I have created a "Main" table which will be holding all the daily expenses entries one the fields is called "Type" in which i formatted as combo box with the following values (vegetables , butchery , bakery).

Another field is called "Item" which should list the items based on the Type selection.

Knowing i have a second table in which i stored all types and their corresponding items , how can i force the filed "item" in table Main to simply display the ones i need based on the "Type" input.

Update / Refresh A Form Upon Entering Data In A Popup Box / Form

I apologize if this has probably been asked countless times; however, in my search of this forum I could not find something that seemed to work for something so simple.

Scenerio:

I have 2 forms. The first form is my main form and the second form is my "popup" form. Both of these forms access the same table. In my main form I have it so people can not enter in a ID so it reduces accidental data entry. Therefore, I created a "popup" box that allows ID entry.

Everything works great except when I close out of the popup form, the newly entered data is not available unless I close the main form and reopen.

Million Dollar Question:

How do I refresh or requery (dunno the correct term usage here) the main form to reflect the addition I made in my popup form. I would like the refresh event to happen when I click the close button on my popup form.

I tried all sorts of permutations of the requery command but apparently I'm too dense to figure it out.

subform 1 > button to open pop up form
subform 2
subform 3

I'm trying to requery a combo box (inside of subform 1) based on a table that is updated from the pop up form.

On pop up form close, what's the correct syntax for re-querying subform 1?

Popup Form?

I'm working on an invoice system for a company and they reqiure notification when an account is called up on a form that has an outstanding invoice.

So I created a query that locates all unpaid invoices, I made a form using that query, and I want to use it as a subform on my main invoice page.

But I'd like this subform to only popup when the criteria is met, that is the name on the subform matches the name on the current invoice called up.

Right now the subform is blank when the criteria is not met, and fields are filled out when they are...but I'd rather a nice big popup that can really get their attention...any idea if this is possible on Access 2000?

I have made a message service in access db using a pop up on timer even.

It works fine but sometimes it does not load. My db is split db and so what ever I am doing, doing on my machines only. So is there any way to check if a form is loaded and if its loaded then do requery.

I use access to gather information on testing that is conducted at my company. In the database I designed I set up a multiselect list box for when the people who conducted the test can check off the test equipment that they used. I did this because at anytime any number of different items can be used. Though I don't think we have ever used more then 10 test items. The reason for tracking the items that were used is if they, when out for yearly calibration, come back out of spec we can look at what tests used that equipment. As I further develop my system, I am starting to ask for more information from the requesters. I would like them to be able to check off what individual items are in the item being tested. Creating that list isn't the hard part for me.

My question comes in here. I know that using a multiselect list box is frowned upon as they can be sloppy to deal with when looking to extract data. Being as I am looking to expand my database, I was looking for what to do. I would still like to give the option of a multiselect list box, but should I create more fields and have the items used put into these new fields? Should I do the same for equipment that is used for the testing. If not and the list box is ok, how best to go through all the records to gather what ones used the specified equipment?

Use Popup Form To Select A Record On Main Form

I'm not sure how to search on this, even in the advanced search. If this has been answered, could you point me in the right direction?

I have a main form AddNewCompany (the infamous tab control that now works - thanks to your combined efforts). On it I have a command button that pops up a form of continuous forms with all the companies in the table (the query calls the CompanyID and CompanyName fields only). I have attached an image of the interface.

This means the user can see if the company already exists and doesn't enter it again. (I'm sure there are more effecient ways of doing this, but this is simple and it works. I also know key fields should be autonumbers instead of text, but I have reasons for doing it this way).

What I would like to be able to do is click on the CompanyID field and have the companies information show up in the main form.

I have a main form that has a tab control on it. The main form is called frm_AddNewCompanyContacts. It is opened in edit mode. To see if a company exists I use a command button to call a popup form with a list of all companies' IDs and names. I then want the user to be able to click on a commad button on the popup form to take the main form to that record. After an intial post, and subsequent search, I found the appropriate code. This is what I am using for the onclick event of the command button on the popup form:

Modules & VBA :: Linking Popup Form To Main Form

I have a 'main' table with a Project_Number that links all the data in my db together. I have another table that uses that Project_Number as a lookup field to connect that tables data to the main data. I created a 'main' form that has the ability to enter data for the 'main' table. I want to be able to press a button and have the second tables form pop up and add that that specific Project_Number. I added the button and went through the wizard process. I then added the linking info through the builder. It works fine if there is already data entered for the project_number in that specific field. but if the field is empty, the popup window doesn't recognize a project_number and doesn't add it to that record. below is what I am using. The project_number in the 'main' table is text and the Project_Number in the 2nd table in a number since it is a lookup field.

Forms :: Pre-populate Popup Form After Update To Another Form

I have two tables - Interviews & Placements.these tables have multiple foreign keys which pull information from other tables (CandidateID,ClientID etc). I have designed queries and forms (datasheet view) which display all the values that I need, For example:

The interview form shows the following fields:
CandidateName;Company;consultant;1stInterviewDate; 2ndInterviewDate;Offer;Accepted

the placements form shows the following fields:
PlacedCandidate;Company;Consultant;PlacementDate;F ee;

This query "qry_Interviews" populates these forms using the foreign keys:

CandidateID from candidates table
CompanyID from companies table
consultant from consultants table

Ideally what I'd like to happen, is when the "accepted" field is updated on the interviews form, the placements form opens as a pop up and is auto populated with the values (CandidateName;Company & consultant).So far I have tried setting the value directly, i.e on the "on Open" event of the Placements form I entered:

Me.Txtcontactname = Forms!ISISnavigationMain!navigationSubform.Form!DS .Name

This does not work. Should I be populating the placements form with the actual Foreign key values rather than the resolved names? Ideally I'd want the pop up placements form to display the actual names rather than just ID numbers.

PopUp And Select Value From A Form

Hi All,

I have a form that has a combo box and a subform. After a choose the value of the combo box I want to start adding values into the subform, and I want to be able to select the values that are to go into the subform fields. Now I am thinking of using a pop-up subform which shows the values that I can choose from and then as I close the form it will populate the fields of the main subform.

Is it possible and has anyone got a little example of form that can do that. If so can you put it as an attachment to this post.
