General :: Record Lesson Information - Multi Student Forms And Reports
May 16, 2015
I created a database to record lesson information (see attached sample). When there was only one student per record, everything worked fantastic.
However, management would like to have one record per lesson, which means that up to eight students would need to be accounted for.
Adding additional Student_IDs to the lesson record table and the associated links to the student table was simple. Inputting lesson information was pretty straightforward.
The problem arises with output. There is one report to review an individual student's past lessons. Also, there is a form in which to export the lesson's public comment.
Both use different queries, but with the same name as the form and report.
Both the report and exported Excel file are blank, no data.
I'm building this in A2010, but saved as A2003 (working environment).
I am building a student register for a school for disabled children. There is a screen listing all students, one showing detailed student data chosen by #=IIf(IsNull([ID]),"(New)","Open")# clicking on "Open", one listing all the guardians, choosing a guardian by #=IIf(IsNull([ID]),"(New)","Open")# clicking on "Open", to diaplay Guardian details.
From the student list, I select and view student details, including a pointer to their guardian details. After selecting the first student details, and then viewing their guardian data, any subsequent student details and guardian details updates the prior guardian data with the next guardian's data.
How can I prevent the successive guardian details from updating the prior guardian table when it is exited? I view the guardian details using ADO recordsets populating a form. When I exit, it updates the previous record.
I am having a problem with retrieving the information I am looking for. Basically I am checking to see if a user has selected a TRNumber from a drop down menu and if that TRNumber matches any other records in the table in that field. If it does, is that Number already associated with the user selecting it. If it is I want to get the ID number so I can simply update the record with new information. Here is what I have so far.
Code: Dim Rs As DAO.Recordset Dim Tech As String Dim MsgStr As String Dim IdMod As String Set Rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("PrepStartDateBlankQuery")
Hello all - Working on a form that is supposed to display order approval information. In the database I'm working with, people are stored as in the approvals table by a reference to an autonumbered value. However, I want to display their name, which can be obtained normally through an SQL or DLookUp Command. This tabular form style though is giving me a problem. If I put new textboxes on the form and load it as I normally would, like:
*ApprovalID is a hidden textbox that stores the number that is used to represent a particular user.
The problem becomes that using an OnLoad or and OnCurrent Form function, the boxes only load one value. I want them to load the different values for the different entries, but I am lost as to how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
A similar issue that I've been having with reports is that I don't know how I would do this at all... I want to do the same thing (retrieve the Name or whatever that is related to a numerical value) and put it on the report. I'd appreciate any info on how to do this.
I created a list that grades students and I would like to be able to print out a report on a particular student that shows those grades in more of a graphical representation.
I originally used word to do this and all I did was create a heading that listed the marks along the top and the categories in the first column, for example:
Code: Outstanding - Very Good - Good - Satisfactory - NS - Poor Writing x Reading x Attitude x
etc..
I used this report function because it was easy for the parents to see. However, as you can imagine, using word was really not the right tool and I went with Access 2007 (it's what I have).
I'm really happy that I went to a database format, but I'm having problems showing the grades in a more graphical way. Right now, it just reports the grades but the parents preferred the other format.
Is there anyway to do this in Access? I'm sure some smart cookie out there knows how I can do this. I tried using the graph function, but I quickly got lost with that and it didn't seem to work the way I wanted.
frmPayments (Bound to tblPayments) - Main Form for payment entry. frmInvoice Sub (Bound to tblInvoice) - Sub form to display not paid invoices.
What i need is a Command button , lets named it "Commit", to perform a few tasks :
1. When click, prompt message asking whether to Save current payment record when all relevant input is completed during data entry.
2. If Answer is "Yes", then it will compare the "Invoice No" on the Main Form with the "Invoice No" of the Sub
Form , and if found to match, then put a tick in the "Yes/No" field of Invoice Table (tblInvoice) against the matching "Invoice No" of Main Form. This is to record payments made to this particular Invoice in Invoice Table.
3. Proceed to save current record, Refresh Main Form to be ready for a new data entry.
4.If Answer is "No", discard all current entries in the Main Form, Refresh to be ready for a new data entry.
I am trying to create a Multi list to select reports to send by email. I am able to select one report to send but when I change the list box to multi select it doesn't work.
The codes I have been using are;
Private Sub Command2_Click() On Error GoTo ErrorHandler Dim sAddr As String, sSubj As String, sFor As String If IsNull(ReportList) Then Exit Sub
I run an after-school youth program for high school students. My issue is an accurate way to track attendance of students. We have MS ACCESS 2010 on our computers at work.
On any given day we may see between 30 to 50 students, so this is a small operation - - and the reason I'm adverse to buying fancy "custom" software and hardware "systems". Because students come and go and vary over time, we may see 100 kids in a given week, but in the past 2 years of operation, we have had well over 250 students come through our program, with some returning at various times.
What I would like is to be able to
1) Make a simple ID card with student photos and a unique ID # that can be ...
2) Scanned by a simple barcode system.
2b) Actually two barcode swipes ... one swipe at the front door / main entrance, and a 2nd swipe by a hand held bar code in the various four classrooms to be sure the student is not only in the building, but also went to the correct class.
3) That the input of that information dumps into our ACCESS database so we can track student attendance, and ...
3b) provide reports out to school counselors / principals of the numerous highs schools that our students come from, to let them know which of their kids are actively attending our program.
My questions are ...
A. Can this be done with ACCESS?
B. Would it be better to do this with EXCEL?
C. If ACCESS can handle it, which types of bar code devices would be the best choice for us to purchase? (We would need a total of five barcode scanners. One at the front desk, and one in each of our four classrooms.)
The system would need to be expandable seeing that this could easily be doubled in terms of classrooms and students within the next year or so. We are currently just 2 years old.
I have spent the last couple of days trying to figure out how to make this work.
I have three tables.
tblIntakeMain [IntakeMainID]
tblIncidentDetails [IncidentdeatailsID]
tblPersonnel [PersonnelID]
On the main form I use subforms to link tblIncidentDetails and tblPersonnel to tblIntakeMain. Both subforms can, and do, have many entries. This all works fine. What is not working is the search form I am using.
I am using Gromits most excellent Search Form. The problem is when I create a query, qSearch, to bring together the three tables I get a multiple records which makes the searches very confusing and near useless. Is there anyway around this? Is there something I am missing? Is there another search method I could use that would work in a similar way as Gromits? Please help before the Prozac runs out and I lose my mind--what little it left.
I have not bad idea about " Entity Relationship Diagrams " but I want take deep in it , so please if anyone have any good site or ebook explain by easy way the ERD ........ I will be so thanks
Then a query from the payment that shows student I'd,arrears, amount due, paid. And balance
My question is
1.How do I transfer the students and their balance to a new semester and session 2.Do I have to new student and payment tables every semester bcos payment are made every semester 3. I want to keep each students payment for as long as they remain in the school 4. A session is made up three semesters how do I transfer students to a new session
When I click on the command button to create a New Record and then type the customer details in the Main Form and the Order Details in the Subform, the information is not retained
i.e. when I close the Form and then re-open the Form the orders details are not saved but the customer details are.
When I re-enter the order details the information is retained this time, everything seems work ok second time round!!
I have a form which contains a subform. On this subform, the user will enter several lines of container ID numbers. If one of these containers has errors, they check a yes/no box and a pop up form opens for them to enter the details of the errors.
I want two fields that are populated on the subform to transfer information to the corresponding two fields on the pop up form. This works when only one container ID has been added to the subform. However, when there are multiple containers in the subform and the container with the errors happens to be the second or third record on the subform, the pop up form always transfers the information from the first record to those fields.
I also have the subform requerying when the check box is checked so that the information saves to the table and the focus does stay on the correct record but the pop up form still opens with the wrong information.
how to transfer the information from the record that the user is currently on?
I have a form and was wondering if it was possible to set it so that a user is not able to click the submit [Submitcmd] unless certain text boxes are filled (however SampleOuttxt needs to be able to remain blank).
I have a form that has a FIND button. I want the user to enter the 3 fields that make up the primary key, then find the associated record. How can I do this in Access - not VBA?
I have a table called Attendance were information about the Student and the class they are attending is collected.
Another table called Student, this hold information about the student. I am using a Form called Attendance to input my information. What I am trying to achieve is:
BeforeUpdate on a text box:
When you input Student_ID it looks at the Student Table to see if the Student ID is valid before the information is updated to the Attendance Table.
I tried to post this yesterday but it didn't go through for some reasons.
I've attached my database that contains student, classes, and couple other tables. I also created couples of forms and I wanted to register a single student to multiple classes at once.
For example: There're 3 classes (Math, English, History) on 1/3/2006. Student A wants to register 2 classes, Math and English. I should be able to check those two and submit and I'm done.
Currently, I have to select Math and assigns to student A, then select English. That's not good at all. What if there're 10 classes in one day and a student just want to register 8 classes? I have to do eight times.
It'd be great if you could help me. Thank you in advance. Isabel
I have a form set to the table Client Information with a subform set to the table Event Information. Client Information has a one to many relationship to Event Information.
There is a button that deletes the current record in Client Information--also deleting the related records in Event Information--then closes the form. The code works fine but a blank record in Event Information is apparently being created before the form closes.
Here's the VBA that I'm using:
Private Sub CmdDelReturn_Click() Dim CmdDelReturnMsg As String CmdDelReturnMsg = MsgBox("Delete event & client then return to front?", vbYesNo + vbDefaultButton1, "Delete and Return?")
[Code] ....
It's not a big deal because the button won't be used often and I can manually go into the table to delete the blank record. But if there's a simple solution to prevent this that would be nice.
I need to write a query which populates an empty field in the current record with information from a specific field in the next sequential record. Any ideas?
I have a form with payment information and need a list, what date the payments are due. These can be only 2 or 3 payments up to maybe 24 payments. The result I want is something like this:
Date Amount Total paid 1.7. 500.00 500.00 1.8. 500.00 1,000.00
The list itself is not a problem, but I need a list who only shows the number of payments as agreed, 2 lines (with paydates) if 2, 12 if 12 payments. I have the information of the total amount, the number of installments and the first payment date.
I need to split out information in a report and I'm not sure how to do it.
The report is based on the following query:
Code: SELECT tblHazardClass.HazardClass, Product.ProductName, Product.Package, Product.Size, tblStoreProducts.Cases, Product.Units, Product.ReportUnits, tblStoreInformation.StoreName, (([tblStoreProducts].[MaxUnits]*[Product].[Size])/[Product].[ConversionRate]) AS QOH, tblStoreProducts.StoreKey FROM tblStoreInformation INNER JOIN (tblHazardClass INNER JOIN (Product INNER JOIN tblStoreProducts ON Product.UPC = tblStoreProducts.UPC) ON tblHazardClass.HazardKey = Product.HazardKey) ON tblStoreInformation.StoreKey = tblStoreProducts.StoreKey WHERE (((tblHazardClass.HazardClass)<>"NON-HAZARDOUS")) ORDER BY tblHazardClass.HazardClass;
My issue is that the products can have a PhysicalState of 'L' (liquid), 'S' (solid) or 'G' (gas). As of right now, only one of the HazardClass entries has multiple physical states (L or S).
My report details each product in the hazard class and totals the amount of that hazard class. Obviously, one cannot add gallons to pounds and come up with an answer that has any meaning whatsoever. How to have the report total the S and the L within a hazard class separately.
Do I do this within the query, or within the report itself? I've already considered making 2 separate Hazard Classes for the one in question (Corrosive). However, since these Hazard Classes are official classifications per the International Fire Code, that's not really an option.
I am trying to get some totals on a report, but the totals are from a table that the form is not related to as such.I am trying to get a textbox to show how many records in a query match the given criteria and show me the number of records that match. I was thinking DCount, but not sure if it will work?
I have a query called 'VehiclesAllocatedToday' which is already filtering records to show only those allocated today. On a report that shows Unfit Vehicle (and is related to a different query), I would like a text box that shows me how many records there are where the text "Type One" is in the TypeRequired field.
I have an A2007 database used for time and billing. As time goes on I've had to add more forms and especially more reports. I feel the because of all these "additions" the FE is getting a bit bloated, something like 2.2MB right now. What I want to inquire about is the possibility of moving at least some (if not all) of the forms and reports to another FE and can this be done without having to move tables and/or queries?
The navigation pane is "hidden" from the users so they don't see all the tables, queries, forms and reports but some are smart enough to figure out to "unhide" the navigation pane.Concerning the forms; there are certainly some forms that I do not want other users to open out of curiosity, or for whatever other reasons they might have, so these I would want to move. The same basic reasoning would apply to the reports.
My thinking would be this; move a particular form/report to a separate FE that merely acts as a "bucket" to store the form/report. Clicking on the control in the main FE would open the form/report stored in the other FE using the tables and queries in the main FE.can it be done without having to re-write a bunch of code? I know I can add code so certain controls aren't visible to certain users but I've not found a way to permanently lock and hide the navigation pane.
I have a Table with Emp_ID and Details of my Employees. I have created a query and set parameter [Enter Emp_ID]. When I pull up a report, I get a pop-up and it asks me for the Emp_ID. When I input same, I get the information I need. Everything is good so far...
My Question... I have designed a report when user will need to enter Emp_ID and click on a button and they will get the report "EMPReport" without having the pop-up window asking for EmpID.
I have been using the below code but I get the pop-up again and I need to enter the Emp_ID again to view the report
See below Code:
Code: Private Sub Image11_Click() If IsNull(Me.Emp_ID) Or Me.Emp_ID = "" Then MsgBox "You must enter an Emp ID.", vbOKOnly, "Required Data" Me.Emp_ID.SetFocus Exit Sub End If DoCmd.OpenReport "Rpt_HR1", acViewPreview, , "[Emp_ID]= " & "" & Me!Emp_ID & "" End Sub
I have a table which now contains a couple of hundred records with more than thirty fields each, and will ultimately contain over 1000 records. Some of these fields use the multiple value feature, and the fields and the forms which fill them work beautifully. Now comes the challenge.
Without going into detail that I'm not at liberty to share, I can say that there are different offices which have different people who are responsible in different ways for the work covered in these records. It is possible for each record to have multiple people assigned to it from the same office. This requires setting the control that shows the people from each office to allow multiple values. I need to be able to create a report which will allow me to hand a list of all the records each person is responsible for in the office to the person responsible, in spite of the fact that this will mean records will show up on more than one person's report.
Before I knew that there might be multiple people in the office for each record, I created great reports grouping and ordering by this office's control and field. Now, since they allow and store multiple values, I can't use them any more. I need to be able, as I said above, to get the same effect. I think the answer lies in some sort of calculated field or formula that applies text filters. What I need to be able to do is look in the field for this office and see if a person's name is contained in the field for that particular record, regardless of who else might be in the field, too. I need to be able to use the results from this filter or calculation or formula to generate something I can use in the group and order by processes.
