View Replies I have two ways to enter work placements for students, I need to refresh a subform on one form while closing another.
The issue here is the form with the subform may not be open as mentioned above.
So is it possible on closing one form to refresh a subform only if it's parent form is currently open?
I have a Main form with a combo box that pulls names from a table. Alongside the combo box is a command button that opens a form which allows the user to edit the names in the table.
The problem: When a user edits a name and closes the edit form, the edit is not immediately displayed in the combo box. However, when the Main form is closed and reopened, the edit is properly displayed. Can I somehow refresh the combo box in the On Close event of the edit form?
I have MDB database linked to SQL SERVER through VPN connection.I created links to the sql server Links are dsnless..Everything works fine but when I lost VPN connection or sql connection has been broken I can't refresh links to the tables.I receive message 3146 sql connection failed..I must close database and start again...
I tried different methods like ado, dao, and vba docmd.transferdatabase,aclink... but no success, table cant be relinked.
Only way I can relink is to change ip adress in conn.string
E.g. 192.124.0.2 (1st ip- router server ip) and after connection failed i can use 192.124.0.32 (2nd ip - server local ip) and that's it if i lost connection for the 3rd time... i must restart application.
It seems that access database keep the previous connection..how to reset or drop database connection to the sql server and refresh links to the tables with vba code without closing access database...
I have a form that's using a query as a record source. Normally that query is empty, as it's just linked to a temporary table, so when I open the form, generally I'm on record 1 of 1.
On that form is a button that imports data from a text file. I want to find a way to refresh the data on the form after importing, so that it shows the new records without having to close and reopen the form. So where I was on record 1 of 1 before importing, I want it to show that I'm on record 1 of 25.
I have a textbox which I need to refresh when my Query is refreshed. Currently I only have the ability to requery with a Button but when that button is pushed I also want a text box to be refreshed. This is what I have currently in my On Click property of the requery button:
=[SearchSubformNew].[Requery]
Is it possible to have 2 On Click events? If so I just wanted to add the line to refresh my textbox which is named SummaryText.
I have a main Part form and a Spec subform linked via Part key.
I need to add 6 Spec records automatically when a new Part is added so user can select desired Specs (default value is "n/a" for al 6 entries).
Right now I have the Spec entries added in AfterInsert for Part form, but I have to navigate out and back into record to trigger Part insert. I cannot add the Spec entries until the Part entry is added.
Is a command button my only option? Or is there another way?
AfterInsert is too late, and BeforeInsert is too early; that gets triggered as soon as the first character is typed in Part name.
I have a form (Datasheet). I need to define some variable in form as string, which can work with any event. E.G in column "A"on event after update, in column "B" on event after update...
I will try to explain with a simple example : form (datasheet) columns: "A", "B"
on event after update in coulmn "A", I could have some like this:
(variable what I need to define) = 3
on event after update in coulmn "B", I could have some like this:
If (variable what I need to define) = 3 then
msgbox "ok"
end if
Now I try to work around the problem and use another column "c" to keep the value from after update A - but I know that, it's bad solution -Right?
is it possible to run a macro in access 2010 on close event of a word doc. i want to run an update query when i have sent some email. i want to first make sure i send the emails and the when i have finished close the word doc and then open query [QueryName].

CloseFile(filePath.pdf)
I have created a form and a subform from a table.Initially I created a table with 11 rows. After completion of my project I added an extra of 480 rows to the main table. But the newly added rows are not coming in my subform.
Main : Main table (It consists of around 491 rows)
MForm : Main Form (It shows of only 11 records which I was 1st created)
How to refresh my subform inorder to display all the rows.
I have a Access 2010 DB. The mainform have a subform with one table alone.
I have a button who close Access when the user are finish on the mainform. Still I have the upper right corner X-button who also closing the app.
My problem is that when the user use the X-button then a dialog box appear and ask for saving the changes for the table in the subform on the main form. The user must then do the choise 'yes' , 'no' , 'Cancel'.
There is no need for this dialog box, (I take care if it's necessary earlier) but I can't get rid of it.
I have a back end 2002 DB. I would like to disallow access to this through odbc connection. Is there some way this can be achieved? Thie directory where it is located is unfortnately cannot be restricted as the front end mde also resides there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a split db that has been in use for a few years by about 12 people. The front end is compiled into an accde file.
Ocasionally a user (randomly) might get an error message "Microsoft has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state...." when closing the db and when that happens, a copy of the front end is automatically placed on their desktop.
This front end is always deleted and the original front end continues to work just fine afterwards.
Why are my users getting this error message? Why is the front end automatically copied onto their desktops?
I have a Ms Access split database where in the backend database grows up very fast and needs to be compressed everyday. I have written a batch script to compact the same and have scheduled it to be run every night. But the script is unable to compress the backend every time since the users tend to leave the application open at the end of the day. Ideally i am looking for a command line script to forcefully close the back end database if open before attempting to compact it.
I searched on web but could not find a command line script for forcefully closing the back end database.
I do not have a split db. I am prompted to enter my password when the db opens which is fine. However, when I close the db it prompts me to enter a password (not normal) and when I enter it it says invalid password. Also, when I try to change my password it says invalid password and when I try to compact and repair my db it say invalid password.
View 1 Replies View Related I am using Access 2010 - Version 14.0.61.29.5000 (32-bit)
I am building a custom Export Wizard to export data to Excel using the Report Wizard for the basic ideas.
All I am trying to do is have a [Back] button on a form to open another form and close the current form.
Private Sub cmdBack_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_ExportWizardPage2", , , , , , Nz(Me.OpenArgs)
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_ExportWizardPage3"
End Sub
The new form is opening but then the current form is not closing. All forms are the same size, shape and positioned centrally although this should not make any difference.
Could this be anything to do with which form has the focus when I open the new form?
I have a bound form with a few fields. I would like to run a sub after some of these fields are modified, but not others. I would like it to run only once, after user finishes his work on the form.
When using the Unload event - the form on the form is not there anymore (or did I get something wrong?).
Is there a way to trap Data on form just before the form closes?
This is related to some advice I received some time ago <a href="http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=64818">here<a>
I am runnign some code, it performs some applications, then, if a Count Field is greater than 1, a form opens as a dialog, displaying some information:
Dim A As String
A = "NewForm"
If Me.[Count] > 0 Then
DoCmd.OpenForm A, acNormal, , , , acDialog
End If
If Me.Continue = "No" Then
Exit Sub
End If
The new form opens, and you can either view it, and click continue, which will run the rest of the code, or you can click quit, which updates Me.Continue to "No", and then it exits.
The problem is, when it exits the Sub, it doesn't really stop the code, it just leaves things kind of hanging. When I try to run the code again, I get:
3321 - The database engine could not lock the table 'NewTable' becuase it is already in use by another person or process.
Another symptom - The original form where I click to start running the code, has two date fields. Normally, when this form opens, they are blank, but when I exit the sub, as above, the previous dates I entered are still sitting there.
How can I make the forms really close?
When a form is open you can also see on the task bar that the form is open
If the user right clicks on the form(on the task bar ) they get the following options minimize , maximise , close.
Does any one know how I can stop the user selecting Close please ?
when i close the form all the fileds in the forms gets saved to the table.
i want it should pop up before closing to save it or not.
i have a button on the form to save the fields in the table.
which has code
command23_Click()
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec

Private Sub Close_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Close_Click
Dim Answer As Integer
Answer = MsgBox("Press Ok to Close, Cancel to Continue.", vbOKCancel + vbQuestion, "Exit Data Entry?")
If vbOK Then DoCmd.Close
Exit_Close_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_Close_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Close_Click
End Sub
Thanks to all in advance
I have found that when closing a form and changes have been made to the fields, these changes will be saved.
I would like to know if there it is posible to only save the changes when a command button is pressed and not when if you close the form any other way.
Hi,
How can I stop user from closing the form if the mantory fields are not filled up? I try using gotocontrol but it is not working.
Not sure what to call this "phenomenon" so haven't had any luck searching for an answer.
I have a form (form1) that has a close button with code behind it. When the button is clicked, it takes a few seconds for the code to run. When form1 closes, all is well up until: There is another form (form2) that is open behind form1. When form1 closes, part of it is still visible over form2.
Hope this makes sense. Any way to solve?
I'm looking for a way to cancel the closing of a form/app. I added a button asking if the user is sure they wish to exit, and am having difficulty finding the correct code to cancel the close event. Here is my codeDim ians As Integer ians = MsgBox("Are you sure you wish to exit?", vbYesNo, "Exit App") If ians = vbNo Then DoCmd.CancelEvent DoCmd.OpenForm "orderlist", acNormal Exit Sub End IfCan help or send me down the right path? Thanks
