View RepliesI have created a database and made the steps to the user-level security and VBA protected the project but i lost the passwords and the MDW file.
is there any way to reset the VBA pass then reset the security level?
this is very important for my business it's a school database with lots of info and it's critical for me to update or at least export some reports and forms to a new project
I just change my default menu bar in access from start up option. And created a new menu with some sub menu which I want. But when I remove all tick mark from different toolbar and only select my new menu, I can't show default menu bar again. How I can show default menu bar?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have split the database I have created via the splitter-wizard and found that all tables with auto-numbers have re-set back to 1.
How do I get around this problem - I have tried running an append query but it flags up an error message. For certain functions to work in the database I need to set autonumbers at different amounts .
I Want to automatic Generate the Numbers (Me.RID) when everytime loading the form.
EXAMPLE "14011701", "14011702", "14011703", "14011704"....
140117 mean "yymmdd" and the last 2 digit mean autorun Number.
But in the next day 140118 I want the last 2 digit auto Reset and start form 01 example "14011801", "14011802", "14011803", "14011804"....
Same also for day 140119, "14011901", "14011902", "14011903", "14011804"....
Below is my incomplete VB code, i dont know how to reset the last 2 digit every day.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Private Sub Form_Load()
Dim RNos As String
RNo = DLookup("[RNos]", "Temp_Table")
Me.RID.SetFocus
Me.RID = Format(Date, "yymmdd") & Format(Val(Right$(RNo, 2) + 1), "00")
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.RunSQL "update Temp set Temp_Table.RNos = '" & Me.RID & "'"
End Sub

What i am trying to do here is that if the date is not equal to current date, reset count or something to that effect.
Code:
(Select count(*) from [qry_01] where [id_employee] = a.[id_employee] and [datex]+[timex] <= a.[datex]+a.[timex])
I have a BE database that we have been using for over a year. I imported data from an external database into this database. Now I've found that my Autonumber has reset to a very low number -- that was imported from my external database. Is there a way to change this autonumber BACK to what it was and increment up? The lowest autonumber in this database is 275944, so I don't have to worry about duplicates in the near future. I would like it reset to 457230, or at least higher than that number.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the below code to reset my subform after I have filtered it using some combo boxes. One of my fields in the underlying table had a calculated field so I'd get an error when clicking the reset button. I edited the query to update the 'type' field and deleted the calculated field in the table but now get another error. The exact error is 'Run-Time error '3327' Field 'Type' is based on an expression and cannot be edited.' It appears it will not reset my form and show all records as long as this field is based on an expression.
Code:
Private Sub cmdReset_Click()
'Purpose: Clear all the search boxes in the Form Header, and show all records again.
Dim ctl As Control
'Clear all the controls in the Form Header section.
For Each ctl In Me.Section(acHeader).Controls
Select Case ctl.ControlType
[Code] ....
I need to reset the autonumber each time I delete/append records in a table. Best way?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'd like to be able to show recruiters the database as an example of my work (to get an interview, etc.). Of course, I can't just show them a copy of the database with all of the private information on it, so I'd like to be able to show them a copy of the database with no records. Is there a way to export/copy it so I can do this in Access 2007?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a database used daily by 4 users. It's split into a frontend (10MB) with all the forms/queries/reports/vba and a backend that's just tables (170MB), and the users access the database from a network drive. All additions through the forms are logged to a text file, and at the end of the day, a report is run that prints the day's work to a PDF. The database / workflow has been stable for the last few years, with only minor edits to the code, and no programmatic changes in the last 3 months.
Today, after running a compact-and-repair, I realized that the database contained no entries added within the last 2 weeks. I checked my log files, and sure enough I see that all of my records were at some point added to the database. This is supported by the fact that I have PDFs for every day in the last 2 weeks that show exactly what was done (roughly 30 new records/day).
My first guess was that compact and repair had corrupted the database, and knocked out a chunk of records. Fortunately, I've got daily backups, so I started restoring to yesterday's database. At this point I found that the records were missing from there, and from every backup from the last 2 weeks. Now, it's possible that my backup solution (logMeIn backup) is hosed, but the the log files are getting properly restored by the backup, which leads me to believe the backup is working. So, somehow these records were never saved in the database, yet they magically appeared in my end-of-day reports?
I thought maybe I was getting stuck in some state where the database went read-only and the edits were getting stored in memory but never written to disk, but that doesn't make sense as we occasionally restart the database during the day for other reasons, and the end-of-day reports are always complete, which knocks that out. Having restored to a prior version of the DB, I attempted to make changes / add new records and they appear to be sticking, but I find my faith in Access rather shaken, all the more so because I haven't a clue what went wrong before.
I'm altering a database to have certain fields be recorded monthly.For example: instead of a client's file having "Total X Purchased" it would now be "Total X Purchased - Jan", "Total X Purchaed - Feb".
I want to spin the monthlies out of the master clients table & in to ex. tbl_clientsJan, tbl_clientsFeb, etc. but still have them linked; & have a "Totals" table that aggregates data from all of the tables (adds them up).
I have an existing form, & I was thinking of just creating tabs for the months & subforms in each with their sources as the month tables, & removing the fields that don't change month-to-month (e.g. client name), with relationships between them. I would start by copying all of the master table data in to the month tables & allowing edits from there.
the company doesn't track when the transactions occurred; I'm unable to group them along those lines.I'm new to Access & don't want to make a mistake.
I have split the database, with the back-end residing on the server. Only 1 other person is working in Access right now; she's verifying the data. Today she's working directly in the back-end, could this be the problem. If it is, I'm going to have to create a front-end for her quickly.
My problem is this...I'm working on queries and forms so that the scientists who will ultimately be using this application, won't be able to go in and inadvertently change something in the tables set-up. When I'm in the back-end main data table, it says I have 2723 records.
When I create a front-end query to query all the records in that table, it says I have 2160 records.
The input form that I created with most of the same fields as the query (created BEFORE I created the query...I'll have it pull from the query now instead of directly from the table) also says we only have 2160 records.

I have an Access Database published as an app in my SharePoint.
When launch the app my records are shown in a form in ascending order. How can I have them displayed in descending order?
I want to create a database that keeps track of contributions of members of an association. Every member can voluntarily give a standing order to contribute a fixed amount every month. A member can as well decide to review his/her contribute.
how I can come up with a database that can automatically add the contribution of a member monthly without manual input since the stated contribution is known. So that I can run a report for individual member and the report can capture the every monthly contribution that has been added automatically and shows when ever a member changes his/her contribution amount.
I've got a database in Access 2007 that keeps track of client data for work. It's been working fine for about a month, and suddenly today other users can't change any information because the records are suddenly locked when accessed from their accounts.
I've already checked that they can't update forms, tables, nothing.
I've checked the database properties, it defaults to shared with no locks.
I've checked the properties of my forms - no locks.
I've double checked the permissions to the folder that the database is in - no restrictions.
The database is split.
I wonder how MS Access manage to show long list of records when we want to browse them in Datasheet view.
1 - Does it load limited amount of records on start-up and then load the remainder upon user interaction (scrolling for example)?
2 - Does it care about such things automatically or natively?

I have designed a touchscreen input system using Visual Basic.net and this writes to an Access Database. Each Touchscreen has its database locally so it can still work even if there are Network problems.
Now what I would like to do is have all these local databases write to a central database say every minute but only write new records to the central database. The Central Database can either be Access or SQL.
What is the best way to do this?
I have been working on a database for over a month now, and my boss just threw a monkey wrench in my work. I believed that the Metal Market Prices would be entered once a week in the current DB. My boss informs me today that he wants an employee to go in every morning and enter that days Price for Each Metal with respect to many different markets.
There is a total of 12 metals, and 5 markets. I need the data to be stored first by date, then by either market or metal, and lastly by which ever isn't used second (Either: date-market-metal, or date-metal-market). I think the Latter of the two methods makes the most sense. Is it possible for my current DB to lookup values from the Metals Database based on date-metal-market?
I have a user login code am using for users to login and only access their records in a subform according to their user ID and access level (user or admin). On the main form I have a user name field, the password field and two other fields: one to hold userID and the other to hold access level.
I also want if the person logged in has "Admin" access level the subform should return records from all users. For now what is happening is that even when I assign myself with "Admin" access level, the subform is not returning all records from other users, but my own records only. The original demo where I found the code worked well but I cannot find it and I am totally lost on this.
Here is the code I have so far:
Code:
Private Sub cmdLogin_Click()
Me.Hold_User_ID = Nz(DLookup("User_ID", "T_Users", "Username='" & Me.UserName & "' and pword='" & Me.PWD & "'"), -1)
' check to see if we have a good login
If Me.Hold_User_ID = -1 Then
MsgBox "Invalid username or password."
[code]...
In my DataBase I want to reset the the records back to the first record. The only way to reset is to exit the form tehn go back in. Is there another way?

Hi,
I have a autonumber function in my form, but i have deleted all the records and want to start again but the autonumber has not reset back to 1, is there a way to do this??
Thanks in advance.
Hi all,
Ive written a program in .net and am currently using an access db as the backend.
In the db I had 200 test records which i deleted to get the db ready for deployment. When i add a new record now the primary key on my "booking" table carries on from the old test number so 201.
Can I resest this so it starts back at #1 as once the db gets updated, the program i wrote then takes the data and updates the accounting system and uses the primary key as the invoice number and so I would like to start at 1.
Thanks in advance
Scott
