I am working on a web database with a form which is bound to an underlying web table where the submissions occur.My challenge is that the fields on the form get submitted to the table even before the submit button is clicked regardless of whether the form was completely filled.
My request is that I want the form to only submit to the submission table only when the submit button is clicked.When I searched on the net, the only solutions I got are VBA written code but my web database cannot use VBA code.
VBA code:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private blnGood As Boolean
Private Sub cmdSave_Click()
blnGood = True
Call DoCmd.RunCommand(acCmdSaveRecord)
blnGood = False
End Sub
[code]....
Quote:
Private Sub Save_Click()
If IsNull(cboEmpName) Then
MsgBox "Please Select Employee Name"
Me.cboEmpName.SetFocus
End If
If Me.txtNoofDaysWorked.Value = "0" Then
MsgBox "Please Enter No of Worked Days"
[code].....

Is it possible to use a command button (update) to update matching records in a form (Test)? I have a file (april.xlsx) in which the first column Cytogenetics ID (14-xxxx) is a unique identifier that matches a record in the database. The next column Result (NL-F, NL-M, F-VUS, M-VUS, A-M, A-F) and the date column next to it are what need to be updated in that record. In the database there is a field called Result that needs to be updated with
the text from column 2:
NL-F and NL-M = Normal
VUS-F and VUS-M = Variant of Unknown Sig.
A-M and A-F = Abnormal
There is also a Final TAT Date field in the database that needs to be updated with column 3 in the spreadsheet (Final TAT Date).So basically when there is a match with column 1 in april.txt to a record in the database, the Result field in the database is updated with column 2 of april.txt and the Final TAT Date field in the database is updated with column 3 of april.txt.
Cytogenetics ID Result Final TAT Date
14-0390 Normal 4/11/2014
14-0396 Variant of Unknown Sig 4/18/2014
I have have a form with 4 subforms in it, one of the subforms is based on a filtered query . For a reason I can not work out I cannot get it to requery when I add a new record.
To add a new record I select from a combo box and use a command button to save the record
I have tried using this in the buttons on click event
Code:
Forms.trialcatalogueF!TrialCompetitorsSF!competitorsSF.Form.Requery
with no result, however it does kinda work in the combo's after update event, just not until I select another value.
Here is my problem
In namefield_AfterUpdate, I check for duplicate name entries and notify the user if any are found - they are prompted as to whether the duplicate was accidental or intentional and continue working. This works fine for normal circumstances.
However, if the user updates namefield so that the value is a duplicate of an existing name in the database, but then presses Cancel (or Delete), then the namefield_AfterUpdate is fired and what button they pressed. The button Click code does not run first.
How can I tell if the user updated the name, but then realized they didn't want to save, and then clicked 'Cancel' (or any button) and the code should really skip the duplicate check validations/messages?
Running XP or Win7 with A2007
Is it possible that once the command button "Send Cost Request" in red is pressed it will change to green?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an option group with 2 buttons in it, yes and no. It is set to default to No, but if someone hits Yes I want it to enable or turn on the next option group. Would just simply changing visible status disable it? Because I have a series of codes set up based on the second option group which read as:
Code:
Private Sub NumberOfAdditionalSites_Option1_GotFocus()
Me.AdditionalSitesLabel1.Visible = True
Me.AdditionalSitesText1.Visible = True
End Sub
[Code] .....
I do not want these to be visible if the initial option group is still set to no.
I have a form which displays some product details and a stock level. The subform below it allows entry of a quantity to issue and a control button to run a small macro, write a movement record to a stock movement table and then close the form. This works fine.
But the user can also cause the movement record to be written just by keying in a quantity and tabbing out. If this is done several times it writes several movement records and doesn't close the form. I want to ensure that record is only written when the command button is pressed.
Perhaps there is a more conventional or better way of achieving what I want but I can't think of it.
I have generated a report in acviewreport, after viewing the details I want to save the report as a pdf file with the client name, invoice number and date. In the report design view I added a cmd button and successfully coded it. However, it saves the report WITH the cmd button showing. I don't want this button saved. Is it possible to remove the button from the report AFTER I have clicked it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a form with a control for the user to enter some data and then two command buttons 'OK' and 'Cancel'
For the OnExit event in the control I have a procedure that check the user input and if incorrect, opens a message box with an error message asking the user to correct the data. It then cancels the event so the focus remains in the current control.
However if the user presses the 'Cancel' command button on the form to cancel & close the form, the OnExit event for the current control still fires and asks the user to correct the data.
In my code in the control, how can I recognise that the Cancel command button has been pressed, so I can cancel the OnExit event and close the form?
I need to create a record of Users. I created a form with fields containing Username,FirstName,LastName & Email Address wherein the UserName is equals the value of the fields FirstName & LastName. I have a save command button and when I click it, I want it to be able to check if the new entry has a similar UserName that exists in the database, if it exists then it will allow me to edit the UserName and then save the data otherwise will allow me to save it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo what I've basically got here is a form with 4 combo boxes and a button that when clicked will filter the results of a table (which is a subform/subreport) based on the values inside the combo boxes. So the problem I have is that when I open up the form it displays a fully filled table but I just want to display the row names and a blank table until the filter button is pressed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a database for work for the last few weeks and this forum has been a Godsend many times over, but now I have a problem that I can't find any reference to.
Using Access 2003, I have a form that uses 3 cascading combo boxes in the header to find a unique record, and a command button that brings up the rest of the record into unbound fields in the body of the form.
It works fine for finding records, but whenever I enter/change data on it, the record doesn't save. The navigation buttons at the bottom don't work - the Next/Previous record buttons are disabled, and the First/Last Record buttons do nothing.
Navigation buttons are enabled/activated in the properties.
I tried getting around this by creating a Save Record command button - first using the wizard, then using VBA code DoCmd.RunCommand acSaveRecord as advised by [missinglinq;696351], but this still doesn't save the changes.
Still working on the registration and badge print system for their upcoming exhbition the company I do a bit of work for. Managed to solve most of my problems but have got stuck here.
Basically each of the badges have a barcode (code 39) on them which is in the following format...
*1000000123$M*
(*'s required for the barcode to work, the numbers are the badge number and the $M is the enter command (i think))
Basically we need a form that allows us to scan the barcode (the number of the barcode is the Primary Key in the tbl_Attendees), and for this to update the "Attended" (Yes/No) field to yes. This bit I can do with a simple update query, but we need some form of confirmation, something simple like a line of text showing up on the form saying
"Joe Bloggs of Leeds registered as Attended".
I wish to use message boxes that pop up when certain options are chosen, that can either be immediately cleared by clicking the 'OK' button or that disappear by themselves after a short period (10 seconds in this case). After searching the net for various options, I found the following code:
Code:
Set objShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
intReturn = objShell.PopUp("Date of Birth updated", 10, "FYI", 64)
(The 64 displays an information symbol).The box is displayed correctly and the 'OK' button works fine, but the box does not automatically dismiss when nothing is pressed.
Right now on a form I have code that runs when the used DoubleClick on that field. Users want to have the code run when the EnterKey is pressed as well but when putting the code in the onEnter command line it would run the code when you tab thru the field.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using access around after 15 year, now I am trying to build small database for my budget purpose
Here is the situation example:
FY2013 = Total working days
Period 1 = No of working days & expected Exchange rate
Period 2 = No of working days & expected Exchange rate
so on........
Period 12 = No of working days & expected Exchange rate
Now once i done - I want to save all record in single go, plus since this budget - total working days can't be change therefore, to avoid any error made by someone, i would like to save Total working days = (Period 1 ++++++++ Period 12)
Howdy all,
The other night I was playing around and deleted code from my database, which now seems to have stopped allowing me to continue to a blank form after I add a record....
It used to work, that once I pressed the save button it would then goto the same form but the form would have the same defaults as if id just opened the form.... now im getting #deleted
Is there any code I can put in the save button to get it back to the way it was before?
Cheers Ezy
i have a form with subform in it, and when i press the save button in the main form it saves only the records in it but it wont save the records in the subform
i found on microsoft this code
DoCmd.Save acForm, "New Employees Form"
how can i use it to save both the main form and subform together
I have a main form and a sub form. Tbhidden and tbpropersave are the text boxes that govern the update procedure. The main form has two text box that i use to prevent the user from modifying the information on the main form without clicking my custom save button. the problem is that the subform should be completed after the information on the main form has been filled in. The Update code i have refuses to allow me to complete the subform without first clicking the save button on the main form. Here is the code. I wana be able to fill in info in the main form, then the sub form then click save. The sub form is a table which relates to the main form table Many to One.
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
On Error GoTo Err_Form_BeforeUpdate
Me.tbhidden.SetFocus
If Me.tbPropersave.Value = "No" Then
Beep
MsgBox "Please Save This Record!" & vbCrLf & vbLf & "You can not advance to another record until you either 'Save' the changes made to this record or 'Undo' your changes.", vbExclamation, "Save Required"
DoCmd.CancelEvent
Exit Sub
End If
Exit_Form_BeforeUpdate:
Exit Sub
Err_Form_BeforeUpdate:
If Err = 3020 Then 'Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit
Exit Sub
Else
MsgBox Err.Number, Err.Description
Resume Exit_Form_BeforeUpdate
End If
Please HELP
End Sub
