General :: SELECT INTO With Control Of New Table Column Lengths
Aug 28, 2013
I have a SELECT INTO query that pulls info and drops it into a table, after deleting the target table and making it anew upon insertion of the selected records... Is there some way to accomplish the same feat without deleting the target table, so I could retain the target table's fields/field lengths?
I would first set up a target table with fields of specific lengths, and when the data is inserted, the data that fits would insert into these fields, and data that didn't would be truncated..I guess my problem is that when the new table is created it makes all the fields string 255 which is too long when I goto export the data, without having to clip/trim the data for use.
I have a report that shows the daily activities. it shows how long it takes to do each task. however some tasks are 8 hours andsome are 10 hours. when all these times are added together it will give the time on a clock. not a total of hours spent.
i.e. treatment1 : 8 hours treatment2: 10 hours
this will give 06:00 in short time. in medium time it will give 18:00.
however if I add another 12 hours to that it will give 06:00.
I want it to show either 1 day and 4 hours /or 30 hours.
I have a client table. I have a client product table for ski's Each Client has 1 or more products (skis)
I have a Service Order table and form that I use a drop down control in the Service order to select the customer. In the Service Order Form a I have a continuous Subform for detailed service.
This is where I'm having the problem. In the detail subform I want to select from a drop down box the customers particular ski that I want to service. how to have only that one customers ski's to show up.
I have a fairly large table with approx 15k records. I have a form where I have a drop down/select control box that displays all of these records showing a few of the fields. I select one of these records to create a new record as it places one of the fields into the new record. The problem is that there are so many records that it takes a lot of scrolling to get through all the records.
Once I scroll through all the records, the next time I scroll, it is very fast and shows all the records in one scrolling. However, when I get off the form and then go back it starts over with all the records having to scroll through etc.. What I want to be able to do is have all these records loaded so that they can be scrolled through quickly the first time I open up the form.
I'm currently running a replicated database in Access 2003 (plan on migrating to 2010; but have several users on 2003). I guess I pushed the number a fields within a table to be close to the 255 max and of course had a conflict in that table which put me over the top. Now if I receive the following error: "Cannot add a new column to conflict table 'Table_conflict'. Delete obsolete columns and compat the database."Since this will occur with all of my replicas is there a way do either automatically clear the data in the 'Table_conflict' or remove the table?
I am trying to run a sql statement in vba in which it selects all the records in a table related to a order Id number. I then want it loop through all the records and check for a check box which is selected. if its selected then "A" variable becomes "1" and i will then run a if statement saying if variable is 1 then run this code else run code b.
The problem I am having is that if there are 4 records the code checks through all of the 4 records and keeps changing the variable so
record 1 variable is 0 record 2 var is 0 " " " 1 " " " is 0
so although the records for a given order number does have a checked box the code wont recognise that.
What I can do or what code I can add my minds gone all blank on this.
I am using access 2010. I have "classlevel" table with 2 columns-Class and Value1 .Value1 column has numeric values that i ll input from webpage (webpage to ms access connectivity).
I want to sum the values of column "Value1" and i have another table-"Volume" which has 2 columns "VolumeLevel" and "Value2". So i want to match the sum that i calculated from first table-"ClassLevel" with the "value2" column in "Volume" table and get the corresponding "volumelevel" column value from that table and there is a third table that will get this volumelevel value.
There is no common column to join these tables.
Classlevel-
Class Value1 Class 0 3000 Class 1 2000 Class 2 300 Class 3 400 Class 4 500
Is there a way to have multiple validation rules in one column in a table. In one column, I need the values to be in all lower case and the first three characters need to be three letters.
I have records using a select query that I am sending to a make table. I would like to have those records excluded from being used again for 180 days, at which point they can be used again. Essentially, I have an ID and an email address which gets stored in the Make Table. I would need to ensure that if we send an email out in Week 1, we do not send an email again for another 180 days if there is activity from that same ID. On day 181, the ID/email address can then be resent.
create a datasheet from 2 odbc linked tables which I will be exporting to Excel. The resulting datasheet will have four columns, 'Purchase Order Number' 'Stock Code' 'Delivery Date' 'Unit Price'. The information I require in the datasheet is a unique stock code (one occurrence of each stock code) with the most recent unit price based on the last delivery date for each product. The linked tables contain many Purchase Orders for the same stock codes over a time period of a number of years where the unit price has varied.
I have a access 2007 file. with a table with a yes/no field. When I link the table to another db using lnked table manager, the yes/no display is not a checkbox (as set) but is turns into textbox.
I need help with a required field that has different character lengths.
I have an input mask that covers the first 7 characters, however, the users are still entering the incorrect policy numbers, I need to put a stop to it.
I have 3 different policy number lengths involved, 7, 8 and 9. They are different kinds as well, alpha, alpha/numeric and numeric.
My question is this -- do I have to create 7 different forms or can I program it to accept only the certain (policy#) characters above. Or can I create a query to insert into my form.

I am trying to create an ASP script that I can use to take the column names out of my access database, and then take out the data. I have a select statment like this:
Code: <%Set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")conn.open "source","",""SQL_query = "SELECT * FROM table"Set RS = conn.Execute(SQL_query)%><%WHILE NOT RS.EOF%><%=RS("field")%><%RS.MoveNext WEND%>
I would just like to make it so the above script just takes out each column header from my database table, and instead of the <%=RS("field") it shows the current column name.
I have a main form that contains a tab/page-control with 3 tab/pages. Each page has a subform within. On the main form I also have a command button that open a new form in dialog. On the new form I have information I need transfered one of the 3 subforms via 3 buttons.
What I am trying to do is when I select the buttons of choice on the new form (Dialog), I would like to return to the main form with the focus set to the specific page/subform.
I currently can get the information transfered to the specific subform. My problem is when returning to the main form it defaults to the first page/tab.
Is there any way to use a select query where it will select the values off of my database but temporarily use a different column name for one of the columns???
I have 3 different item names stored in my main table. When I compare this to another table, I want to select one of the item names and just pass that as item_name. This way, I can have the same compare routine instead of writing a different compare routine for each item name. Any way? Thanks a lot for the help in advance!
I have a form with a subform. The subform is a continuous form with two controls, both textboxes. The value in the second box is looked up in a table, where the column name is the value from the first box.
I tried a lot already, this code seems to work but only for the first value of the continuous form and is not refreshed when I click next record on the parent form:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() 'get the value from the first textbox strLabelName = Me.LabelName.Value 'get the ProductID needed for WHERE clause from parent form strProductID = Me.Parent.ProductID 'use dlookup strLabelValue = DLookup(strLabelName, "tblProducts", "[ProductID] = " & strProductID) 'place the returned value in the second textbox Me.Text5.Value = strLabelValue End Sub
Is it possible what I want and how may I establish this?
In the organisation that I work for employees get paid every 2 weeks on a Saturday. So for this financial year the pay period end dates have been 08/07/2006, 22/07/2006, 05/08/2006 etc
I have a column in an Access table listing various dates. I want the next column to be populated with the next pay period end date after that date.
So if DATE is 05/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 08/07/2006 and if DATE is 09/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 22/07/2006 etc
