How do i save a record as soon as text is entered into the textbox in a form?I need it to save without moving on to the next form without having to click a button

General :: Text Box On Form - How To Make Textbox Date Default To Previous Record

I'm having trouble with a Form and getting a text box entry box (Date entry) default to the date entered on the last record, which is linked to a table.

The only way I can get it to work is to type the date into the Text Box's Default property, for example, #11/13/13".

How to get the correct syntax or code into the Default property of the Text Box to make this work? I only want the entry to change versus the previous record/entry if the User changes / enters a new date.

I have a form with some vertical unbound text boxes, they are table headings for my data, but they need to be editable. I can enter data in them perfectly but once you close the form the data is lost. I would like the data to be saved on the form. I have tried turning them to labels but then they are not editable. What should I try next?

I currently have two froms, "add record" and "add record cont." The reason I have two seperate forms is because when clients create a new record information needs to be saved to two different tables and when creating one from with fields from both tables I ran into many problems. The two tables are named : tblMain, tblFileLoc Currently there is a textbox on both forms named "fileID" the FileID in the first form is from tblMain and is the primary key for that table, the FileID on the second form "Add Record Cont." is just a normal field. When clients enter in the new FileID in the first form "Add Record" and then move onto the next form "Add Record Cont." i need access to bring the entered FileID from the first form and Fill it in the FileID field in the second form. Currently I have tried making the control source for the textbox on the second form = the textbox on the first form but it brought up an error.

General :: Combo Box To Populate Rich Text Textbox In Form

I am new to access and have been staring at the same Run-time error for 3 days (pathetic I know). I cannot for the life of me figure out why it does not like my Dlookup. Esentially, I want and After Update event in my combo box to populate a Rich text textbox in my form. After reading DLookup is the easiest way to make this happen. Here is my code:

Me.emailbody.Value = DLookup("[Escalation_1]", "Status_Emails", "Status_Emails.Status =" & (cboStatus.Value))

My error reads: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Status_Emails.Status = LOCATION NEED MORE INFO'.

LOCATION NEED MORE INFO is the value in my criteria cbostatus.value.

General :: Bound Form - Error No Current Record On Save

I have been working on a bound form that I can't seem to get working.

It records deliveries and what I am trying to achieve is after the form has been filled in the user will click a save button where the record will be added to the table and a record automatically printed via a report and emailed to the shop manager, but i keep getting the error "No Current record" no matter what way I try to do it, I have tried using to run the report. Is the best way for me to accomplish this o change it to an unbound for and run an insert query on click?

General :: Continuous Form With Textbox Record?

I'm building a database to control projects of new products for a company, the flow is easy:

-Step 1: Record the general information in a main table (db_master_info) (i.e. project name, description, date of launch, etc.)
- Step 2: Record the product codes in a detail table (db_units) (i.e. product codes and quantities)
-Step 3: Record monthly information like, production and sales forecast in the detail table (db_units)
-Step 4: Build a monthly stock equation(production minus sales forecast) and record a comment, in a comment table (db_comments), about the results.

The steps 1,2,3 and 4 I did successfully!

The step 5, I'm unable to think outside of the box!

I drew a sketch (form_stock and comments.jpg attached) that might be a possible solution...

Use a continuous subform with a unbound textbox with VBA to load record and edit/update???

How do I do this?

Populate A Field For Several New Records With Date Entered In Textbox On A Form?

I have a form with a text box where the user enters a date and then clicks a button titled "Add." I've added an on-click event to the Add button that runs an append query that adds several records to a table [tblTracking]. I have a field in tblTracking called EndDate. I want the date that's entered into the text box by the user to be populated into all the new records added to the tblTracking when the append query is run. Currently, all fields in tblTracking are populated when the append query is run, except the EndDate field.

Is this possible? If so, how?

I've experimented with adding a separate on-click event that adds a record to a separate table containing only the date entered in the textbox and an auto-populated ID field. I thought there might be a way to utilize the ID field to pull the associated EndDate into the Tracking table, but I can't figure that out, either, since I don't know how to tell it to look at the date field in the last record of the table. That sounds unsafe anyway.

I am building a Inventory Management Application for Tyre Shop. I have SaleMainTbl and SaleDetailTbl both used for preparing daily sale summary. I have Mainform based on SaleMainTbl with TxnDate and Total Amount (Sale) and the TxnDate is in one to many relation with SaleDetailTbl. FormSaleDetail is multiple row(continuous) form that makes billwise summary of each day having -TxnDate--BillNo--ItemSold--Company--Qunatity--Rate--Amount fields. I have inserted this form in FormSaleMainTbl.

So FormSaleMainTbl is Main form and FormSaleDetail is subform. TxnDate in FormSaleDetailTbl is automatically taken from SaleMainForm. I have further added text boxes in Main Form to show company wise sale for each day for which there is a query build one for each company that takes the currently loaded date from FormSaleDetail and calculates the Sale (Sum) of each brand (Company) of Tyres. All these objects are working very fine. However I have to close the MainForm and reopen it for result of query to appear in the appropriate text box in Main form.

Is there way to do this as soon as record is entered or at least at the end of completing the entry of each days sale transactions without closing the form. So the gist of the problem is realtime display of query result in text box on a form or updating the form screen immediately on updating any record or at the most after completing the updating of form but without having to close the form.

How To Instantly Fill Up A Field In A Form

Ive got a db that im having problems with (Access 97)

i got a date field (date1) - which is automatically todays date
ive got a combo box (option) as below - it displays the name - :-

name days
one 1
two 2
three 3

and another date field (date2) - which i want (date1) + (option) to add in

Ive setup an update query that does this fine
So i setup a command button in a form that runs a macro that runs the query

But the (date2) field does not update when i press the button when viewing a record it ignores it and does the rest of the records fine

So i have to flick away run the query while viewing another record and then go back.

Does anyone know how to do this with out the flicking

"The value you entered isn't valid for the field 'ID'.

For example, you may have entered text in a numeric field or a number that is greater than the FieldSize setting permits.

This error happens when i try to filter my results and select the topic I wanna search for. The field size is almost double what my longest field is. I am trying to do is from a table i used a lookup wizard to search that table for all the topics under that table.

I am working on a database and i have notice after making a form that when i enter a record using a form if i enter incomplete data on the form access automatically save that record and generate a id for that record.

For example I have a table that contain

StudentID,StdName,FatherName,DOB,Adress,Phone

And I have created a form for that table that also containing these fields.

Here I want to do that on the form I want a "Save" button , and the purpose of this button that when I click on this button then MS Access Save the record and then generate the ID for that record and if i close my form without pressing "SAVE" button access do not save that incomplete record.

I have have a form with 4 subforms in it, one of the subforms is based on a filtered query . For a reason I can not work out I cannot get it to requery when I add a new record.

To add a new record I select from a combo box and use a command button to save the record

I have tried using this in the buttons on click event

with no result, however it does kinda work in the combo's after update event, just not until I select another value.

I have a form where the user can add as many rows as he wants - it's usually only 1 or 2 but that's not the point.When he has finished editing he clicks a Save and Exit button.In here I want to save data from the last row he has entered. I have this working but only if the cursor remains on the last row or on the 'new' record row. If he manages to, say, put his cursor on the penultimate row then I save the data for that.

eg.

Col1.........Col2..........Col3..............Col4
AA...........AAA...........AAAA.............AAAAA
BB...........BBB...........BBBB.............BBBBB
CC...........CCC...........CCCC.............CCCCC
DD...........DDD.........DDDD.............DDDDD
EE...........EEE............EEEE.............EEEEE
NEW LINE

So I for instance want to save Col3 on the last line filled in. Lets say the control is called Col3 then

If the cursor is on NEW LINE I have got the code so that
Me.Col3 "EEEE"
If the cursor is on the last line (the 5th) I have got the code so that
Me.Col3 "EEEE"

If the Cursor is on the first line i get "AAAA", "BBBB" for the 2nd etc. How do I always pick up the last line?

General :: Erasing Text From Textbox Upon Enter Without Deleting Variable Value

I have a form that has a textbox in it. I enter text into the text box by scanning a bar code. I then use openreport.cmd to pass the variable in the text box to the report I generate. The report then has a button that when clicked references the variable that I passed to it.

Essentially the problem I am having is that when I set the textbox back to blank, it also erases the contents of the new variable created. I want to either delete the value from the textbox upon scanning the bar code each time, or highlight the value in the textbox for it to be deleted upon the first key stroke. I had read about setting focus to the textbox, but I have been unable to get that to work. Here is my current code for what I am doing.

Code in the form:

Label = stPartNum

Can I Set My Form Default To Last Entered Record

Hello, I have a program/database that I'm building in Access 2003, It has new client/bid entry form that has many text boxes for instance: Client, address, Phone numbers, Date etc. These text boxes are actually populating the same text fields in the PrimaryBid_Master form.

My question is every time I fill out the client entry new bid form and then exit to the PrimaryBid _Master form it defaults to the very first record entered, and I would like it to default to the last record entered, The record I just got done entering into the new client bid form, this would save me from having to filter/find it every time I enter a new bid/client, Is this possible and if so Can you describe to me how I can have my program do this?

I have a form where users enter data in various ways - combo boxes with drop down selections and text boxes where users manually enter some data. I also have several text boxes that return "answers" based on calculations from user entries mentioned above. The form is bound to a table where all the entered data is stored. I'm having trouble saving the calculated information to the bound table. It's easy in all the non-calced boxes, I just put the column name of the bound table in the control source, but in the calculated fields, I already have the formula in the control source. How can I identify the proper column to save the data in this case.

After I enter data into one field in a record I would like the form to save the record when I move to another field in the same record. It seems that the record is only saved when I exit it entirely. Is there a way to save a record when moving between fields in that record? Can this be done without using an Event Procedure for each field?

It runs like it should but doesn't populate any records...that is until I go into the design view, deselect one of the fields and then reselect the same one - only then does it populate.

Do I need to open the query first and then update/append instead?

When i try to save the record. instead of saving the text in the combo box like i wanted. It saves the value 1,2 or 3 instead. How do i make it save the selected text instead?

Save Record With A Form

I have created a Form to add customer payment entries to our database which will be added to the TRANSACTIONS table. I have a combo box which allows us to lookup our account number from the main CUSTOMERS table designated in the row source of the combo box. The rest of the fields use control sources from the TRANSACTIONS table which is the table that will contain the new records. I have added a Command Button that is labeled "Save Record" and it is programmed to do just that. My problem is that the records are being added to the TRANSACTIONS table even before I click my command button. I have the "date" feild in the form set to auto populate today's date. When I open the form, select an account number and tab to the date or any other field, and then close the form WITHOUT clicking the command button, the record is still added to the table. Can anyone help me to stop this from happening? I do not want anything added to the table until the "Save Record" button is clicked.

I have the Roger Jennings book: "Using MS Access 2003" and also the "MS Access 2003 Bible", but I am still unable to find an answer to my problem.
