I've built and implemented an Access 2010 application for a corporate client. It's entirely menu driven, with no user access to the navigation pane. It's split with multiple BEs on a share drive and the FEs on individual PCs (distributed via Auto FE Updater). Two hundred users have been defined to the application but so far there are only up to 10 max concurrent users at a time.
The clients want to add more users to the system but after that will go into maintenance and support mode. The question is how much I should charge for the maintenance and support service on a monthly basis.
I'm not looking for a $ amount as much as strategies/guidelines for pricing. The clients anticipate using the application for about four years, at which point a new, corporate-wide application should be rolled out and my app will get replaced by it. They will probably need to convert the data from my app into the new app, and will want/need occasional enhancements to the system over the next four years as well.
This is my problem!!! Bit new to Access, so here goes! I am setting up a claibration database for test equipment, what i need to do is to set up the database so that say a week before a calibration date is due, the database will flag this up, say display a reminder!! Can anyone tell me is this possible and the best way to set this up????
how to terminate reminders.i have made borrowing system and it will have date taken and date return..for now, my pop up reminder will pop up in a week before the date return.
my problem right now is if the user return the cd early than the actual date return, the reminder will still pop up. it is because, i have no function to check out the cd..how to make the check out and also can disable the reminder if i click the check out for that borrowing.
How I would accomplish the following scenario in Access 2010. I have created a data base for a funeral home. One of my tables includes the date of death of the individual (DOD) (i.e. 04/16/2014). From that date I want to trigger a reminder to follow up with a family letter 6 months from that date. Would I do this with a macro or would I do this with VBA Script?
I'd like to know how to implement a pop-reminder that runs reminding the user of the database of :
1. some to-do actions for the current day or, for example, a week ahead of a certain event, that is related to some date previously entered in a table.
2. this should be within the access database.
3. I saw something like that in the [URL]... website, but actually couldn't understand it.
Sorry to open with a question but its usually the way, i'm quite an experienced computer user but never used any office products before and just thought i should learn as i'm losing money every week by not keep track of things properly.
So then to my question..
I've made a table to cover all the orders i have had placed, this includes a date column for when that order was placed. I just wondered if it would be possible to have some kind of system where after 7 days without any acknowledgement from me it either pops up or turns red or something similiar. I'm thinking the acknowledgement could be the yes/no box and i tick that when i recieve the item back, if i dont it either pops up or turns red or something
I'm working on an access database and I need to connect that database to the reminder function of Outlook.
At first, I set the reminder precisely six months before the due date, everything was okay and the reminder worked. But after some revision required by my supervisor, I need to set the reminder based on month (not exactly on the due date), so the tasks which have due dates in the same month will be wrapped into a single reminder. The reminder also should be appear in every two weeks. Here's the code I've been worked on :
Code: Private Sub Expired_AfterUpdate() Dim outLookApp As Outlook.Application Dim outLookTask As Outlook.TaskItem Set outLookApp = CreateObject("outlook.application") Set outLookTask = outLookApp.CreateItem(olTaskItem)
[Code]...
I put this code on the AfterUpdate event in the column containing the due date. How should I rearrange the code so it would be able for the reminder to appear based on the month? (just consider that the reminder will be active six months before due date).
I need to create a guest database for a small hotel. And I would like to create a pop-up alert that appears when I open MS Access to remind me birthdays of the guests.
I have 6 machines that run jobs Monday thru Friday but I will focus on doing one machine to avoid confusion.
The machine will be running 23 hours a day Monday thru Thursday and 18 hours on Friday and is shut down on Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning at 5am (start of the work week) Job A starts. The job will run for 30 hours. Then Job B will run for 160 hours. I need to know when Job B will start and end. Although it would be nice to know the time of day, just knowing the date would be good enough.
As I said I have 6 machines and each one is running anywhere from 7 to 10 jobs. My end result could be nothing more than a report, but a datasheet form would be ideal. On Mondays, new jobs are added and schedule is updated based on actual productivity from the prior week.
I have a form (Access 2010) in which i insert contracts; each contract has a start and an expiry date, but instead of dd/mm/yyyy i would like the user to be able to insert just the year, while the day and month are predefined values and they are automatically inserted (i.e. 01/10/yyyy; the year being the only value that changes, and it is manually inserted by the user).
I would like to set a pop up remainder (on form load) x days before the expiry date, but, because too many of them have the same expiry date i am wondering if the reminder can be set on different days, based on another field (i.e. partner location [country]).. i.e. reminder for contracts with Austria to pop up 60 days before expiring, for UK = 67 days and so on.. or even a specific day for each, i.e. for Austria = 01/08/yyyy, for UK 01/09/yyyy).
I need to make a report that shows a work schedule for 10 employees. I need it to print in a monthyly calendar format with horizontal lines to show start and end date and time. I need it to show that there is or is not any overlap for that machine."
It has been a while since I have created a DB and I get some of this okay. So far I think I need three tables. One is the machines. Two is the product schedule (how long it takes to produce X number of products). The last would be work orders and that pretty much covers the data.
I think most of the data can be maniputated by queries and that is even done on the report. The report as we all know is the reason for a database. If it was just about the data it would be simpler to do a spreadsheet. It could get fancy and make a pivot table. That output can be a calendar of sorts.
I have been tasked at my work to create a database for tracking time off from work. I have built several databases in Access 2003 and have now transitioned to 2010 and it is seems to be going well. My past databases have been rather simple data in data out not really that big of a deal. However on this database they need a report that will show them a week view that shows them all the employees regular days off and any additional time off they have schedule in that week.
I have an employee info table that has employee basic info, Emp name, Emp number, Work Week code (which identifies which days off the employee has) Hire Dates (for seniority sorting) and then I have 7 fields listed as D1, D2, D3 and so on until D7 (I will try to explain these fields later).
I have another table (Time Requests) that has 3 fields, Date, Emp number, and Time code (which identifies why they are off work or unavailable to be assigned).
The last table I will refer to has 7 fields, they are Date1, Date 2 – Date7
I now have a form. This form has the 7, fields Date1, Date2 – Date7.
On my form Date1 field is updated by a manager with a date that is a Sunday then Date2 = [Date1]+1, Date3 = [Date1]+2 and so on until I have all 7 fields showing date from Sunday – Saturday.
These fields are lined across the top in a vertical direction positioned above a subform of the employee info table. So directly below the 7 Date fields are the D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7 fields then to the right is the Emp name and Emp number, This gives me a Week view of who is working.
I have been able to get the D1, D2….. fields to show their respective Work Week codes by writing very simple “If Then” statements . So here is where I AM STUCK…When I am showing this week view how do I get D1 –D7 to identify what date they are supposed to be in reference to Date1 – Date7 then compare themselves to the table “Time Requests” to see if they have a match and then set the value of D1, D2 …. to the “Time code” in that table. D1 – D7 need to auto populate and do this for about 50 employees.
Here is a screen shot of what I have so far and where I am stuck: [URL] ....
I am trying to create a report for 5 different dentists schedule for their current date ( and also allow a search for upcoming appointments)...
I know it requires a query but im not to sure what direction to take as i have never created a report before...
What needs to appear on the query? im aware it would be all the fields i want on the report but do i need to make changes in the criteria etc..
I also dont really know how i can create a report for each dentist because i dont want to have 5 different reports.. is it possible to have the report set where i type the dentist name and select which one i require and then i can view their schedule?
I have searched on this, but did not find any article that is comprehensive enough. I wonder if anyone can advise on database maintenance routines particularly for Microsoft Access.
I am trying to create a sceduling calendar for my department which displays given events day by day. I have created this using subforms for each day and a combo box to select the month. For display purposes it works fine but I am having a little difficulty with the functionality. I want to be able to click into any of the subforms, and depending on whether there is data within, open a specific document. 1)If there is an item in the schedule the I want to open a report filtered for that date. 2)If the day is blank then I want to open a form to input an item. (This works but I cannot get the date to pre-fill) I have created a seperate piece of code to do this but it doesn't want to work. It may be because my knowledge of VB isn't what it was or it may be that I am completely barking up the wrong tree. Hopefully someone can have a look and let me know where I am going wrong.
Code
Private Sub OpenCalRep(date1 As Date) If date1 = Null Then DoCmd.OpenForm "frmmaintenance", , , , acFormAdd Forms!frmmaintenance.txtDate = Forms!frmcalsite.txtDate Else DoCmd.OpenReport "rptmaintenance", acViewPreview, , "Tables!tblmaintenance.txtdate" = "forms!frmcalmain.sf1.form!txtdate" End If
End Sub
I realise that there is no counter to increment the subform name yet (SF1, SF2, etc) but I want to get the code to work for just the first box initially so I know that I'm heading in the right direction.
This code is the prefilled from the subform by using:
Private Sub SF1_Enter() OpenCalRep (Forms!frmcalmain.SF1.Form!txtDate) End Sub
I realise that there is no counter to increment the subform name yet (SF1, SF2, etc) but I want to get the code to work for just the first box initially so I know that I'm heading in the right direction.
My database consists of several forms linked by open form buttons that function as "previous" and "next" navigators through this series of forms. Each time I switch from one form to the other, the record jumps back to the first record.
Question: When entering a new record, how can I make it so that when I switch from the first form to subsequent forms, the record on the subsequent forms will match the record on the form prior to it without having to use the record navigation buttons at the bottom of the form.
Got a little system going whereby when a job is created it will display the date that the job is next due by.
I'm trying to work out how to create a qry that will display all due dates & not just the next one.
Here is how it should work. If a job is created on the 1st of April 2007 & the type of job is MONTHLY then I want it to list the rest of the monthly orders that are planned for the year.
Here are the different PPM types that I'm using to calculate with 8784= Yearly 43848= 5 Yearly 2208= 3 Monthly 744= Monthly 168= Weekly
Has anyone done anything similar cause I can't see how it can be done?
This is what I'm using to create the next date due
Here is my qry that the above code is in. SELECT tblPPMType.PPMID, tblBuildings.PropertyName, tblPPMType.PPMType, tblTasks.DateReported, tblPPMType.PPMNextDue, DateAdd("h",DLookUp("[PPMNextDue]","[tblPPMType]","[tblPPMType]![PPMID]=" & [PPMID]),[DateReported]) AS NextDue, tblContracts.ConDescription FROM tblContracts INNER JOIN (tblBuildings INNER JOIN (tblPPMType INNER JOIN tblTasks ON tblPPMType.PPMType = tblTasks.JobDetails) ON tblBuildings.ProID = tblTasks.BuildingID) ON tblContracts.ContID = tblTasks.ContractNo ORDER BY tblPPMType.PPMType;
I am maintaining LESSON using a simple form. On creating each new LESSON record, I also wish to insert a row into PAYMENT, using values from the LESSON table - Payment_ID(autonumber), Lesson_ID = LESSON.Lesson_ID, Payment_Date = LESSON.Lesson_Date
What is the best way to do this? I have tried to add an Event Procedure to 'Before Insert' but I can't seem to get the syntax correct. Also, for this to work, do I need to paint all fields on LESSON form including (hidden) PK?
I have simplified the tables above but they are relevant to what I am trying to do. Any help would be much appreciated- am new to Access...rather frustrating.
Many thanks, Simon.
PS I have searched through existing messages but can't see one that answers this, I apologise if this has been answered before- just point me to the orig post.
hi all. there's a new db im making and i'd like to add in a 'follow up reminder' feature where; after 1 month of job completion (as updated by a auto update date field) we can give a 1 month follow up call with the customer just to say 'hey, just wanted to make sure your stuff is working' or so to speak. the reminder must say something to the likes of '1 month follow up required for customer vin deisel acct # 5777'... in other words the popup box gotta have the option to capture data from the db as well!
about 2 or 3 guys in here (total access noobs-myself included) are the ones making the db and we'd like some assistance here.
hi! I'm doing a reminder program this program alerts you if you have things to do each day it has a code that I obtained on the internet wich retrieves the user name. My problem is that when I enter as a user a window shows up say my username and the number of things I have to do but I can't get it to count the number of things to do. I tried a query but it doesn't work (either it shows "#name" or it goes all blank)please help. thanks in advance, newbiepr
I have created an email message to be sent via a closing button on a form, using the DoCmd.SendObject command. It all works fine except that MS Outlook then puts a message box on the screen with a countdown bar saying that MS Access is trying to access Outlook and to press Yes if this is to be allowed.
Is there any way that I can disable this message box please. I appreciate that this is more an Outlook problem than an Access one, but some database programmer has probably come across the same problem before.
