View RepliesI got a form called "Make quote". In this form a user can select a product from a line of fields. This "line" contains: article code, product, price and quantity the customer requests.
Each single quote can contain a very different amount of products. Some quotes just have 1 product, other quotes have 25 products.
I'm looking for a way to let the user add as many "lines" as necessary for the quote. BUT I don't want him to need to go into design view.
I'm thinking of maybe adding a button to the form which does this, but I'm not sure how.
I created a crosstab query with the dates as row headings which has a Start Date and End Date Parameter. When I created a report from it, everytime I switch to the Design View of the Report, the Parameter Pops-Up like 3 times so I had to either click Cancel Start Date and End Date Pop-Ups 3 times or Fill up the Parameter 3 times which is annoying. It pops up when I click something on the Report(in Design View), or even when I encode a Formula on a textbox(it pops up everytime I press a letter on my keyboard).
I can't remove the parameters from the query because I need it in producing the data for report (say from August 1 to 31 data only) .....
I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to expand the columns in "design view" of a query.
What I mean by this is rather than selecting all of the columns and double clicking to see the entire text, I'd like to be able to a shortcut.
The entire process as I see it involves 3 steps so I will need thesolution to the 3rd step.
(1) [ctrl+spacebar] to select initial column
(2) [shift+arrows] to select all of the columns I need
(3) [keyboard shortcut] will expand all of the columns "field" names to the size of the column heading
Alternatively, if you know of a shortcut that will expand the columns without having to select them first I'll take it!!
I have a database that is saved as an accdr so it can be compiled for distribution as an exe..I have just found the accdr the exe installed and renamed to accrb and was then able to open it and view all the tables, forms etc.Obviously I cant stop someone renaming but if there was a way to stop the forms, tables etc opening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to MS access 2007 but not new to Access. I am trying to open a form in the design view but that option is disabled along with other menu options. I checked the Ribbon and it appears to be a custom toolbar. I deleted that out of the box but I'm still unable to view the design of any objects. How do I enable the menu items?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to access.
On occasion my access database all of a sudden begins to operate very slowly, I notice the queries take a much longer time to run.
Last week it suddenly began to operate very slowly after idling in excess of 30 mins
Today when I change the screen to design view and then back to form view once again it begins to operate very slowly. (yesterday was working fine on my desktop at home, I have not made any changes to the database with exception to saving and using the file this morning on the shared drive at work) If I shut down and re open it operates well but once again changing to design view causes the same issue. Sometimes compact and repair rectifies sometimes not.
The spreadsheet I've attached contains a ton of calculated cells and linked data. The people who created and utilize it aren't necessarily interested in changing the way they use it or populate it each quarter. That being said, my task is to somehow create a way that it can be sent to/seen by each person differently. First I'll point out that the 3 columns that are blank normally contain names, I deleted them for obvious reasons. The first of those columns, B, contains unique names for each agent in the firm, these people need to ONLY see their own data. The second column of names are basically managers, they need to see the records for each agent that falls under them. The 3rd column of names is irrelevant for these purposes.
Now if all this data were in access, and everyone had access to it I could easily just make records visible or invisible based on user name and I wouldn't be here right now. But they can't and that's not an option. I honestly don't know if this should be done solely in Excel, in Access or a bit of both. Currently this spreadsheet gets emailed to each manager and they have to review the data with each agent.
The first tab, worksheet, is basically instructions. It would be nice if those were images on the page and then all of the data were below that so that the agents could see them together and understand it better. As I'm sure you'll see it's a pretty complicated system so they have a hard time understanding it.
Note: There are actually about 3,000 records, I've deleted most of them for size purposes.
I am trying to limit what a user can see when accessing a database in access. I am only testing with this in access before taking it to SQL server. I have 3 databases and I combined the data into one set of tables and now what i am trying to do is a certain user can only view data from a particular database.
I have a table with the users id and password, as well as an ID number from each database that I am trying to tie to the users.
for example one user can view and add/edit data in databases 1 and 3 but not 2. while there might be a user that can view and add/edit on 1 and 2 but not 3.
I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?
i am currently developing a database what i need to do is to restrict user to view selected record and change them. i have build a login form in which i have two areas as a user name in combobox and a password text box. i have another form in which i have a combo box named area what i need to do is to limit the area combo based on the selection of the user login form previously. for example if a user select LAS VEGAS in user combo and enters its password after clicking the button login the another form appears in which thier respective stores and sales are saved, their is a combo box named area in which i want to limit it by LAS VEGAS i mean it would only show LAS VEGAS in drop down based on the previous selection in login form.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnybody ever heard of this before? I open a form, and it is empty, just a blank window. I open the same form in Design View, all appears well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a table called NewTransactions_tbl that I have been using for some time. I am trying to add a new field called CustomerProjectNumber. It's not being displayed when I look at the table view. I've attached an image showing the settings for the field. I am probably missing something obvious.
Any ideas why it is not showing?
I am using Access 2000.
I have a sub form in DataSheet view and I would like to lock the design so that the User should not change the layout
Even when I set the property of the Datasheet “Allow Design Changes: Design View Only” users are able to unhide the hidden columns and they can also change the size of the column by dragging the column end line
Does any one know how to lock the design of datasheet ( I am using this sub form datasheet for data entry but do not want users to change the layout)
Thanks
Rahul
You know how normally in design view there would be a table at the bottom of the screen where you can drag your fields from the view above.
Well, I have a query where this table view has disappeared ?
I can edit the query in SQL view, the query works, just the table view is missing.
Ever happened to anyone else ? I've done the obvious and scrolled down as far as I can and nope, it's not there ???
I am wondering why the alteration to my form in design view is not reflected in the "normal" form view. I have included the two views. In design view I moved "Staff In"/"Staff ID" to the top of the form believing that as I work left to right thay would appear on the left hand side in normal view.
However, in the image of "normal" view you can see that "Staff In" is way over on the right hand side of the form.
Any ideas how I can fix this?
Thank you

Is there a way to stop users from opening the front end file twice (stop from having two sessions of the same FE at the same time)?
I've been searching the forum and found this
http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/archive/index.php/t-67724.html
but since im not using an .exe updater is not my case t.t
Is there anyway to stop the user from beng able to move a form. I.e. as in change its position on screen.
I am aware that you can do this by setting the border type to "none". However, I want my form to have a title bar along the top, so I cant use this method.
Is there another way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Ive found some information on the "movable" property, but I am using access 2000 and cant get it to work.
After reading many of the posts here, I decided that one of the problems with the tables in the db I was working on was in the primary keys. I had used the same field name as the primary key in all of my tables. This was RecipID, which was a user entered textbox with an example in a label beside it showing the format to use.
After reading stuff here, I decided this wasn't a good idea. So I changed RecipId to be an autonumber in the parent table (Household_Info) and a long integer foreign key in the children. Also, I added some fields to the parent table to identify the head of household (lastname, firstname)
I already had a continuous form made with a subform and a pop-up form associated with it based on my previous tables. Reran the query underlying the form, and the new fields showed up in the field list box for the form. The fields are all still present in design view, but I get a totally blank form in form view. I checked the forms recordsource and made sure that it was set to the new query.
Can anyone give me an idea about what I'm overlooking? Do I have to recreate the form?
(Sorry if this is a repeat of a question someone has already addressed, but I couldn't turn up any relevant threads after several hours of searching.)
Thanks, Charlotte
I have a form in which user will enter few values but I need users to enter the comment in relevant text box too only if they have any non zero value.
I have attached an example for reference....where red encircled portion is for values and blue is for relevant comments. If value is non zero then user should be enforced to enter the comment too......system should not allow user to move forward or backward until there is some comment.
I have a form that allows a user to complete a stock take. I would like to stop other users from receiving or despatching stock while a stock take is in progress.
Is there a way I can lock a table, or stop users adding or altering records that match certain criteria. i.e. don't let users receive or despatch stock from with a locationID of 'A'.
I should know this but it's has me stumped at the moment - When I have a form open I can right-click and it let's me go into design view. How do I turn this right-click option off?

I am a new user of access and have a question concerning a database that I am working on. The database has a switchboard where you can open different objects but the problem is that the main menu on the top is missing the tools menu and the view menu. When I pressed control , I could get the views (without the actual view menu) but the tables do not have a field property control i.e. I cannot add any new fields to the table. In addition to that problem there is a reference problem with one of the tables when I add some data to it - but the table that access refers to I cannot even see. I am really puzzled over here - is it a security issue mind that I don't have the tools menu that will let me check the security settings - I am really puzzled here. I need your assistance please I am going crazy over here ! I attached a screen shot so you can see what I am talking about - also how come the database is designed this way where the forms and tables are b ound together?
