Currently using Access 2007-2010. I have a text file that I am trying to import into Access. I am having issues with the time fields. I need to be able to sum them in a query or report. When I import it in, Access is put the 12:00:00 am as default and adding numbers to achieve the 11 character field. I need to be able to sum these fields later in the database. The file looks like this:
I have an Access 2010 database that tracks Classroom Training. I have a "Start Time" field for each class and a "Duration" field for the length of each class. The Start Time field is a date/time data type and the Duration field is a number data type set to Double with 1 decimal place.
Example: Start Time = 8:00 Duration = 1.5
So the class should have an End Time at 9:30. I have been able to convert the "Duration" field to a time field for example 1.5 now displays 1:30.
My question is how do I add the 2 fields together to get an End Time of 9:30 ?
I using excel 2010 and access 2010. I have VBA script runtime error 3011 when running script. It has problem finding access report. First I was passing in as variable with the name. Then I used a script to pull in the report name from access and it is still failing with same error.
Code is shown below.
Private Sub Command29_Click() Dim reportname As String Dim theFilePath As String, FilePath As String, tempStr As String ' reportname = Me.My_DBTableName
I have a report that shows the daily activities. it shows how long it takes to do each task. however some tasks are 8 hours andsome are 10 hours. when all these times are added together it will give the time on a clock. not a total of hours spent.
i.e. treatment1 : 8 hours treatment2: 10 hours
this will give 06:00 in short time. in medium time it will give 18:00.
however if I add another 12 hours to that it will give 06:00.
I want it to show either 1 day and 4 hours /or 30 hours.
I have a rental database and I print several contacts for leases etc. what I want to do is have a unique reference number or something inserted to the report every time that it's printed. What I am trying to achieve is to keep track of which tenant corresponds to the report (Lease) printed by using reference number.
There is a seperate form which holds the tenants details and I would like to have a field on that form which would show the same reference number as the report so I can track which report was printed for who.
To start, I am going to generalize to a database of Cows. the fields are:
Name (enforced unique/"Primary Key" in access language?),
size, color, age.
The goal is to have a form with check boxes for the fields that the user selects. Scenario is one cow buyer cares about size, while another may care about color and be curious on age. So rather than guessing at what reports the users will want, have a form that allows them to select the fields they want then print a report. An intermediate step would be a query to filter the data.
See the picture below ....
Also, from my perspective, this is the basis of the best code i would write; if someone wanted to add a column for cow gender you wouldnt have to change all your forms/queries/reports:
Global import table.Cows
Form 2 in picture (form with check boxes): for ( i=0, i<width(Cows), i++) form.create.checkbox cb.append(i) cb.append(i).label(Cows[i])
Then create the report based on cb0, cb1, cb2, etc. queries
I have a database with two fields [RECEIVED] and [DISPATCHED] which unfortunately are text fields which I can't change (linked via ODBC). Time is entered in these fields as military time.
I created a query with [DISPATCHED]-[RECEIVED] which works unless the time spans different hours. Example 1605-1555 returns 50 instead of the correct 10.
Any idea how I can use a query to calculate this accurately. I am an intermediate user. Any help appreciated.
I have a table in which each record includes a field showing the time that an event started and then another field which stores "how long did it take", these two fields are both defined as a short Time. I then have a query that runs through the "how long did it take" fields to produce an average time for the whole sequence of events. Two problems:
1. The average comes out as a decimal like 39553.367942 instead of several hours and minutes.
2. When I try to access this value using DLookup on a form I get "#error"
I am trying to add hours entered in a short time format. For example 08:15 or 02:55. I also would like it to give a total number of hours beyond 23:00. Here is a table with a Name Column and Hours Column
A) write a query to add up the hours. I believe Heather would total 25:31 Hours.
B) Show this same total in a report? In my report I had a Name Footer which showed "=Sum([hours])". Will this work once the query is right or will I use the "=Sum([totaltime])"?
Also, is it possible for you to respond in a SQL statement so that I can copy? Thanks.
Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().
I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.
[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM [PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM
Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:
=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct
=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example
=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?
I would like to count number of items witin a text field, but breaking it down identifying the different items within the text field.
e.g.
Got a field with fruits listed. Now I am identifying the fruit but want to know how many rotten fruit there was for each specified fruit.
At the moment my query is by date and the fruit including the column specifying if the fruit is rotten or not. But there is 3 options in the last column. How can I count this last column to count how many of these 3 options there are for each fruit in my report?
Please let me know if this makes any sense or not otherwise I will try to explain it a little bit better.
I am currently running queries from a table and I get a list of part numbers and the totals. I would like to collate this into one row for each material instead of multiple - so essentially it would be like using a pivot table and summing the totals.
I am writing a small program for my sons school for there athletics day. We want to register all the students on a data basis. I have a form where you capture all the child's information and then tick box for each event that there will be for the day. So we will only tick the events that the specific child will participate in. I design the table to just import the information from each school from a excel spread sheet directly into the table. What my goal is to print report for each event that will only show the child's names that has register for that specific event and all the different age groups separate. I am stuck at the query and can't seem to get my mind around how to define the query.
I am quite new to MS access and started to develop a small database for my practice. I have made four tables that are for Patient details, their doctor detail, their problem and their treatment. I have successfully created form to enter the data. However I an unable to proceed, now I want to create a discharge letter which will be addressed to the doctor (based on the tables described above)
I want to make this in a way that if I enter the patient details i-e date of birth, ID and / or name a letter is created based on the tables above. I also want this letter to be saved for future use. how to design that letter and should it be a query or report.
I have a report that displays the results of a query. The query and the report are both run from a submit button on a form. I use DoCmd.OpenQuery "name", followed by DoCmd.OpenReport "name". Due to slow network connection the query shows up before the form is displayed. I would like the query to be hidden or minimised. In other words, I do not want the user to see the results of the query, only the report.
I have a query criteria where the data in the query field are numbers.
The following works as long as I have a value in the textbox otherwise I get an error message stating, this expression is typed incorrectly.
Code: Like [FORMS]![FONMain]![txtTest15] Or [FORMS]![FONMain]![txtTest15] Is Null
Also tried
Code: [FORMS]![FONMain]![txtTest15] Or [FORMS]![FONMain]![txtTest15] Is Null
Yet I use the following script for another column which has identical data and it works fine either way and I can use it in the other column and it works with or without data in the textbox
Code: Like [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact1] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact2] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact3] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact4] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact5] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact6] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact7] Or [Forms]![FONMain]![txtFact8]
Is there a way to export a query of 14 items to a word report. I have a table of 14 items in that I use as a query but it only exports 1 item to the report.
