General :: Table Names Change When Exporting To Excel

Mar 14, 2013

When exporting my tables from access to excel my table names change if they have a space in the name. Example table name "New Record" turns into "New_Record".

What I am trying to do is export the table data to excel than update my access program than imort the table data back. This way I can take a vertion of my access program and update/modify it as time permits than reinsert all current data with min down time.

The code I am using is as follows:

Dim td As DAO.TableDef, db As DAO.Database
Dim out_file As String
out_file = CurrentProject.Path & "excel_out"
Set db = CurrentDb()
For Each td In db.TableDefs

[Code] .....

Exporting To Excel - Column Headers Exported With True Names

Jan 10, 2014

I have a report in Access that produces variable headers as the output is different from client to client. When exporting to PDF everything works great but when exporting to Excel these variable headers are exported with their true names. Col8, Col9, Col10 etc. And our clients insist on Excel reports. Is there a way to get the assigned name to export to Excel? Assigned names would be something like Medical, Dental, Vision or whatever is applicable to the client and is assigned to the report through VBA code. BTW, the data for the report is pulled from a cross-tab query so exporting directly from the query has its own set of formatting issues and is the reason I am using a report with variable column headers.

Change Excel Sheet Names

Jun 12, 2012

So I have 5 querys exported to an excel file (C:/File.xlsx) using transferspreadsheet.The sheet names are named the same as the query names.Is it possible to change the sheet names (in the file C:File.xlsx) to what I want them to be named in access vba? Either after I export, or possibly change the query name before it is exported (all done in vba).Like a line I would add after transferspreadsheet like oldsheetname.name = newsheetname.Also need to find out how to change field names in the excel file to what I want in vba.

VBA Help : Exporting Column Names With Data From One Table To Another

Feb 12, 2008

I have an Access table say Tbl_People that looks like :

ID1-ID2-Name-Age-Location
xxx-yyy-Mike-25-Essex
uuu-vvv-Jack-32-Surrey
mmm-nnn-Bob-36-Newcastle

I want to transfer this data into another table say Tbl_Output with four columns in the format below:

xxx-yyy-Name-Mike
xxx-yyy-Age-25
xxx-yyy-Location-Essex
uuu-vvv-Name-Jack
uuu-vvv-Age-32
uuu-vvv-Location-Surrey
mmm-nnn-Name-Bob
mmm-nnn-Age-36
mmm-nnn-Location-Newcastle

In Tbl_Output's 3rd column, only the Columns names: Name, Age and Location are repeated for each person and not column names ID1,ID2 (only its data xxx,yyy etc. is required in columns 1 and 2 as shown).

I was helped by rpeare with a VBA module that gives a single column output in Tbl_Output as

Mike
25
Essex
Jack
32
Surrey
Bob
36
Newcastle

The code is:

Sub main()

Dim db As Database
Dim rstElements As Recordset
Dim sName As String
Dim sNumber As String
Dim sArea As String
Dim freefile
Dim Filenumber As Integer
Dim sSQL As String

Set db = CurrentDb
Set rstElements = db.OpenRecordset("tbl_elements")
rstElements.MoveFirst

sSQL = "DELETE * FROM Tbl_Output"
db.Execute sSQL

Do While rstElements.EOF <> True
sName = rstElements.Fields(1)
sNumber = rstElements.Fields(2)
sArea = rstElements.Fields(3)

sSQL = "INSERT INTO Tbl_Output (OutputField) SELECT '" & sName & "'"
db.Execute sSQL

sSQL = "INSERT INTO Tbl_Output (OutputField) SELECT '" & sNumber & "'"
db.Execute sSQL

sSQL = "INSERT INTO Tbl_Output (OutputField) Select '" & sArea & "'"
db.Execute sSQL

rstElements.MoveNext
Loop

Set rstElements = Nothing
Set db = Nothing

End Sub

How can this be modified to get the required format data above? Thanks for any help in advance

General :: Exporting To Excel Changes Field Value

Sep 4, 2012

I'm relatively new to Access. I've created a database where we track product information and testing done on the products. I have the Product Code set up as a combo box with five other fields auto populating based on what is entered into the Product Code field. However, when I export the table or form to Excel, the Product Code changes to another number, which I think is an auto number but does not directly relate to the product entered (either one up or down from the product).

General :: Exporting From Access To Excel

Nov 19, 2013

Access version 2010
Excel version 2010

I added a command button to get one of my access reports to export to excel. The process works perfectly on my computer, but when my colleague runs the report on a different computer and tries to use the button, an error comes up that says "can't complete the output operation" (runtime error 2587).

I've tried to find a solution online, but most of those are geared toward having a full version vs. runtime, and that is not an issue here. Both my colleague and I have full versions, and we are both using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I just tested on another colleague's computer and it works fine.

General :: Exporting Queries Into Multiple Excel Worksheets

Jul 3, 2014

Work have asked for a lot of information to be run from Access and exported into Excel. The info they require will need to be exported into 4 Excel worksheets in the same workbook. Is it possible to tell Access that when they click on the report button on the form, it will automatically run the various queries and then put them into separate worksheets in the same book? I think this is perhaps too complex for Access to do?

Hi all, I use a d'base that exports a table via a query to Excel. Once the user hits the button to run this command it can take between 30 sec to 60 sec until the data is displayed in excel.

Does anyone know of anyway to speed this process up. Currently there are around 12,000 records with the table.

DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputQuery, "qryArchiveReport", acFormatXLS, "Archive.xls", True

Exporting A Table To A Macro-Enabled Excel Workbook?

Apr 5, 2012

I am using Office 2007 and trying to export a table in Access to a Macro-Enabled workbook in Excel. Unfortunately, when I go to export the table, my file does not show when I browse for the file and .xlsm doesn't look like it's a supported file extension. I have looked around and noticed others have this problem as well. One solution was to use save the Excel file as a 97-2000 file since it doesn't change the file extension based on having macros. However, I can't do this because then I lose functionality with tables and other things on my spreadsheet. I need the data in Excel to be updated every month. Is there any way to do this in Access? I'm going to explore using sharepoint. My DB options are limited to Access and Sharepoint. I don't have access to Oracle or SQL Server or MySQL etc.

General :: Code To Remove Spaces From Table Names

Jan 27, 2015

We use a Database which has been constantly developed over 10 years using earlier versions of Access2003.We have Upgraded to Access 2013 and we are experiencing many conversion issues which I need to resolve.One key problem is that many of the earlier tables were developed with spaces in their names (Hindsight is a wonderful thing?). There are over 200 Tables that need changing. I would like to update the Table names replacing every "space" with an underscore"_". AT the same time I would also need to Update all of the QUERIES that use these particular Tables to be updated to reflect these changes made and still work as normal. I can do this manually but it will be very time consuming and perhaps someone has already had to do this when recently upgrading to Access 2013?

General :: Time Added To Date When Exporting Table To CSV File

Oct 17, 2013

I need to export a table to a .csv file.

One of the fields in the table is "Posting Date". Data Type: Date/Time. Format: Short Date

All records in this field are dates. Format is "dd/mm/yyyy". None of the records include a time.

When I export the table to a .csv file, the time is added to the date. So the exported result is "dd/mm/yyyy 00:00:00" e.g. 17/10/2013 00:00:00

I am exporting the table using "delimited" format in the wizard.

I cannot use the fixed width option.

How do I prevent the time from being added?
