General :: Unbound TextBox Using ComboBox As Part Of DSum Criteria

Jan 2, 2015

I'm using a very simple unbound textbox on a very simple form, with the following Expression to find me data in a query and sum the last 30 days, based on a combo-box on my form...

Only thing is, it's showing me only the data from the last 30 days...regardless of the value in the combo.

=DSum("Credit","qryIncVsExp","TransDate>=#" & Date()-30 & "#" And "AccountID_FK="""&[cboaccount].[column](1)&"")

I'm sure it's something to do with the number of "'s I have, but I'm probably more than likely ever so wrong.

General :: Unbound Textbox Storing Value?

Apr 17, 2014

Code:

Private Sub Combo1309_AfterUpdate()
If Me.Combo1309.Value = "Yes" Then
Me.Text1307 = Environ("UserName")
Me.Patient_Gender.BackColor = vbYellow
ElseIf Me.Combo1309.Value = "No" Then
Me.Text1307 = Environ("UserName")
Me.Patient_Gender.BackColor = vbRed
End If
End Sub

I have the above code in an unbound textbox and it functions correctly. Expect, the value Yes/No appears in every record in that textbox,So, if in record 1 the value of that textbox 1309 is Yes in record 2,3,4 the value of that textbox 1309 is set to Yes. How do I make it blank until the user selects the proper choice.

General :: Populate Unbound Textbox With Combo Box After Update Event

Nov 13, 2012

I am populating a table using combo boxes in a continuous form. The box box alone works fine without any issue of repeated data. But as you know obviously the combo box only populates data in a single column of the table, in which case mine is the LASTNAME; so now I am attempting to populate a unbound textbox with the FIRSTNAME side-by-side with the combo box for the same record.

In the After Update event of the cboLASTNAME:

Code:
Me.txtFIRSTNAME = Me.cboLASTNAME.Column(3)

However, after updating the the combo the textbox data is repeated.

Is there a possible solution to this?

General :: Unbound Lookup Textbox Limits Number Of Digits

I have a form with an unbound textbox. I want to be able to enter a sequence of digits and spaces (e.g., 02 950 4187); however, when I paste this into the box, I always have to delete the two spaces until the number is 9 digits long. Then it will accept the number and go look for the prize. How do I get the textbox to accept the number I paste in?

General :: Get Value Combobox / Textbox That Does Not Have Focus

Sep 21, 2012

I am trying to get the value of a combobox after selecting an "OK" button but get "You can't reference a property or method for a control unless the control has the focus." Most would probably say use .Value but when I press "OK" I am prompted for a value, or as in another case get Null.I tried setting the focus prior to the violating line of code, but no go.

Example:

Code:
Private Sub viewByRegionOKButton_Click()
DoCmd.OpenReport "byRegionReport", acViewPreview, , "RegionName = '" & regionComboBox.Text & "'"
End Sub

Forms :: Combobox To Lookup Any Part Of Field

Jun 6, 2013

I am using a combobox to lookup contact names.

The rowsource is taken from a field in a contact table that contains the contact's First name and then Last name.
You could use the dropdown to pick the name or type the First name into the combobox.

The problem is that the combobox matches only the beginning part of the field as you type. So if you start typing the person's last name, the combobox would not display anything.

Is there an easy way to allow the combobox to lookup any part of the field that matches the text being typed?

Dsum With Multiple Criteria

Apr 21, 2006

Hi!
I have two related tables, one containing human resource information, the other containing a weekly record of hours worked by employees.

Here's the dilemma:
I need to keep a running total of hours available based on hours worked.

Employees begin each 7 day work week with 70 hours of time available. Any hours worked in that week are subtracted from the available hours for that employee. If there are two days in a row not worked during any given week, the 70 hours needs to automatically reset.

These hours are tracked in the Hours Available field (a calculated control which needs the Dsum expression) which should examine the Hours Worked field. Presently, the Hours Worked control gives a total of all hours worked for the employee shown on screen, but I need to examine the current work week to see whether or not an employee has worked more than 70 hours (it's a legal requirement.) If during any 7 day period counting backwards from the present date the employee had two consecutive days off, the employee becomes eligible to work 70 hours and the countdown starts again. In short, the total hours worked should be subtracted from 70 until 0 is achieved in any given week, unless the employee has had two days off (Hours Worked sum for two consecutive days =0.) I have attached a paired down version of the database for review.

Any ideas?

Tom

Queries :: DSum Using Date Criteria

Jan 16, 2014

I have a query which includes a deposit field and a Transaction_Date field. I would like a cumulative deposit on each record (arranged according to date). The following is the expression I am using:

=DSum("[Deposit]","[myQuery]","[Transaction_Date]<=#" & [Transaction_Date] &"#")

I am getting completely nonsense values from the expression - some of the fields are blank (the first few fields) and then the values bear no relation to the deposits preceding them. I have tried all sorts of formats including using Format([Date], 'dd/mm/yyyy') on either side and then on both sides but with no effect.

Forms :: DSum With Multiple Criteria

Apr 30, 2014

I have a dsum statement with multiple criteria that I cant get to work. Basically it returns no records, when it should return records that have a CategoryID = 1 and a State/Province = 14.

Code:
TotalSMECount = Nz(DSum("WorkingDays", "qryTotalUsageForDashboardNew", "CategoryID = 1" And "State/Province = " & Me.cboProvinceFilter.Column(2) & "")) + Nz(DSum("UsageDays", "qryEquipmentDaysRapidProtoCumulative", "CategoryID = 1"))

I am guessing that I just have the criteria portion written incorrectly Is there anything obviously wrong? For the record, when I debug.print Me.cbo Province Filter.Column(2) it returns the value '14', which is correct for my test data.

Queries :: DSum With Multiple Criteria?

May 15, 2014

I can't seem to get my head around an issue i'm having with a DSum, the statement is:

Code:
=DSum("[Amount Used]","[tbl_Rwk_Used]","[Cage Number]='" & [IBC_Number] & "'" And "[ID]=" & [ID])

I've tested both statements separately and they work ok, but as soon as I add the "AND" operator, the whole field is summed and the criteria thrown out of the window apparently.

[ID] Is the same in both tables and relates to a main record
[Cage Number] and [IBC_Number] are related in both tables, but are and are strings

I also need to put an additional criteria for a Integer field in the same expression where the value is True.

Queries :: DSum Does Not Recognize Dates In Criteria Box

Jul 9, 2013

I am trying to create a user-friendly database to enter invoice records (deductions and additions) for securities. I would like to be able to run queries with running totals from month to month inclusive (end total of one month = starting total of next month). I have already figured out how to create a running total; however, I have numerous "companies." Each record could be from any of 30 companies. When I add up the running total from say January 1 to February 28th, I get the additions and deductions of all the companies, not just the one I want. Inputting the companyID (example A110) in the query box only adjusts what is displayed, not the running totals that go by the total deductions from the records before that record (I assigned each record a "database ID" because dsum does not recognize dates in the criteria box, if I want to do a running sum.

I also was wondering if it would be possible to build forms with macros to create these queries in a user-friendly manner (so the company that I am interning for can create queries when they need them without me there).

Unbound Textbox

Mar 17, 2006

I have a form that calls up an employee that also lists their hire date. I have an unbound text box that calculates the years of service by DateDiff(). It works for the first record but sticks for all the subsequent records. I've tried an afterUpdate or Change on the bound Hire_Date text box that is Me.txtYearsOfService = DateDiff("yyyy",Me.Hire_Date,Now) but it still sticks to the first record.

I'm sure this is basic but can't see the obvious. Please relieve the pain.

Thanks

Unbound ComboBox Help

This is a stupid problem, but I just can't seem to figure it out (some days I am smarter than others).

I have a form with three unbound comboboxs that are synchornized so that what you select in the first combobox changes your options in the 2nd and 3rd boxs. My problem is that I want to record the selections made in the unbound comboboxes in the table attached to the form, but cannot seem to make it work. Help!! :confused:

I am using Access 2000.

Thanks.

Simple Qry Using Unbound Textbox.

Jul 12, 2006

Hi all,
I am experiencing problems trying to put together what I thought was a simple form that would
allow users to search for data from a field on one table and display the results in a data grid style from the query I have created. However the query is'nt working and I am sure it is because of the way I have coded the query to read from the form's textbox. The SQL code is below.

SELECT tblFiles.Vault, tblFiles.Wlt, tblFiles.CD, tblFiles.Media, tblFiles.ProjectNo, tblFiles.ProjName, tblFiles.FileName, tblFiles.Location, tblFiles.NetLoc, tblFiles.CreDate
FROM tblFiles
WHERE (((tblFiles.FileName)=[forms]![frmArchive].[txtprjname].[value]));

There is a value in that field as 'attachment' and if I type that in the textbox it will find the records that have exactly that string but if I type 'att' there are no results. I tried searching in help for 'Like' since I believe that is the problem with my code but it did not show me an example of how to code that in the query to refer to the object on the form.

the code I have on the button next to the unbound textbox is as follows...

DoCmd.OpenQuery "qryFindPrjFile", acViewNormal, acReadOnly

Can anyone offer me any advice on how to do this?

Regards,
Mitch...

Update Unbound TextBox

Jul 19, 2006

Hello,

I'm having a problem with one of my forms, i have created an unbound text box called Hours. In it i will type a number. Then click on a button to create a report based on this number.

what is happening though is that when i click the report button the report is blank, if i close the report and then click the button again i get the expected results. What seems to happening is that after i click the button the first time the form refreshes itself and the number is picked up.

Is there any snippit of code i could add to the print report button so it will work first time?
