I have one DB that is used for creating/storing customer ID's, and another DB that is used for creating/storing job information for customers.I have linked the table from the customer DB to the job DB.
There is a table in the job database that holds customer name and ID, and some VBA that generates unique job codes.
Is it possible to have the data from the linked table automatically update into the existing table?

I'm trying to update one table's field, via a Form, with certain data from another existing table in my DB when I enter key data in this first form. Example:
Table Equipment ... Some columns... Year, Make, Model, LIcPlate, etc.
Table Fuel ... Some columns... Year, Make, Model, LicPlate, Fuel Dispensed, Milage, etc.
Form for Fuel has Year, Make, Model, LicPlate, Fuel Dispensed, Milage, etc. BTW, it will take Year, Make and Model to fully qualify the search/lookup as there may be more than one occurrence of a Year and Make in the Equipment table, so Model is necessary to fully qualify. . Yes, something like VIN would be a simpler lookup but remembering a VIN is much harder than entering a Year, Make and Model.
In a Form over Table Fuel, I want to have the LicPlate field (possibly other fields as well) automatically updated from Equipment Table when I enter the Year, Make and Model in that form.
I'm assuming the solution involves creating VB code, of some such, via an Event (AfterUpdate) or some such built through the LicPlate field in the Fuel form. A mass Update via SQL is not appropriate.

I have a table called tblCompanies. When a company acquires another company, I need a method by which the acquired company's CompanyID (PK) can be updated to the new company's CompanyID (PK). I also need to be able to update all related CompanyIDs (FKs) to the new value in related tables.
In cases in which the new company does not have an existing record, there is no problem: the company name simply gets changed to the new company and the existing CompanyID is maintained. I then use an audit table and Track Changes function to keep track of the company name data and a union query to keep the old names in the selection lists.
The problem is when both companies already have existing records in the table.
So, let's say I have records for Company A and Company B. Company A merges with Company B and Company B is now the main record. What is the best, simplest and easiest way to update the CompanyID (PK) from A to B and change the CompanyID (FK) to the new value in all related tables?
I am envisioning a pop-up form that directs the user to select the new company and then an update query happens behind the scenes... but exactly how does the criteria for the update query get selected and how do all the related tables get updated? My vba skills are pretty basic, will I need extensive coding to do something like this?

I have a simple MyAddress Project. It consists of one main table, a couple of queries, some forms and reports. Most fields in the table are typical text fields. The project allows me to select records from the table and print labels for those selected records. One field is a "yes/no" field. If the field value is true, the label prints; otherwise it does not. I have a form which allows me to scan the list of records and mark those I wish to print. So far so good. I am trying to add two buttons to the form to enable me to 1. Clear All and 2. Check All. I am trying to use an UPDATE statement to activate when I click the appropriate button. However, when I execute, I get the error message "Compile error: Sub or Function not defined".
The name of the table is tblMyAddresses.The firld I am trying to UPDATE is PrtLbl.The update value will be true or false depending on the button clicked. Since I want to change the values in all records, there is no WHERE required. The code I am trying is as follows:

Still working on the registration and badge print system for their upcoming exhbition the company I do a bit of work for. Managed to solve most of my problems but have got stuck here.
Basically each of the badges have a barcode (code 39) on them which is in the following format...
*1000000123$M*
(*'s required for the barcode to work, the numbers are the badge number and the $M is the enter command (i think))
Basically we need a form that allows us to scan the barcode (the number of the barcode is the Primary Key in the tbl_Attendees), and for this to update the "Attended" (Yes/No) field to yes. This bit I can do with a simple update query, but we need some form of confirmation, something simple like a line of text showing up on the form saying
"Joe Bloggs of Leeds registered as Attended".

I would like to use the "Collect and update via email" function within MS Access 2010 which sends out and collects emails. I know how to use this function, but what I would like to do is something slightly different. Instead of emailing out a data entry "form" that has the employee/team member enter information for data collection purposes about their project, status, start date, end date, priority, tasks, etc. Instead, I would like send an Excel/Access table with all of the current project information displayed in the email data collection form and then have the employee reply to the email and overtype edits to displayed information and then have those changes automatically entered into my table. For example, one project table can have up to 50 rows and then column headers such as project status, start date, end date, priority, task description, etc.

Below is a sample of the table with the data. I manually added the 1 and 0 to the hc_Year field. However, I would like to create an Update query that will add a 1 to the hc_Year if its the first instance of PIDM & regsYear and add a 0 to the records that are not the first instance.

I have two tables, one called 'Company' and one called 'Person'. Both tables have several fields, but they both have the same primary key, i.e. 'Naam'.
When I type in a name in the 'Person' table, I'd like the 'Company' table to automatically display the name too. So for example if I type in 'John Doe' in the person table, I want to be able to switch to the 'Company' table and have the same name displayed there, automatically.

The "PersonalDetails" table is related to the "Application" table using the autonumber from table, "PersonalDetails".
The "PersonalDetails" table has "StudentID" (autonumber), "First Name" and "Last Name" fields.
The "Application" table also has "StudentID", "First Name" and "Last Name" fields.
The "Application" table is related to the "PersonalDetails" table using the "StudentID" field.
How do I make it so that the first and last names on the "Application" table are automatically updated when the StudentID is entered?

I have a table with the following columns: Task, Visa type, time it takes to perform the task. There are several taks that are performed for all visa types. I want to create a form to enter data to the table in which for the field visa type I have a list box that can allow multiple values, however, I do not to create a single line with the task and on visa type all the types of visas selected. I want to create a line for each type of visa with the information introduced.
I don't know if this is possible, the reason for which I want for the form to create several rows depending on the visas types is because then I have a query that sums all the types of visas. Can this be possible? I don't want the people to introduce manually directly to the table the data and also that for the same taks they have to enter manually 50 rows with values. I want it to be more simple and easier.

I have a invoice system I have created in Access and it did used to work perfectly and then maybe an update Who knows stopped the system working.
I have an customer order screen that has customer details and then a subform within the same form this takes a total of items & costs for this order and then it entered it into the customers table from the order_Details table using me.Order_total = Order_Total.
I know this is bad design but I store it because once the order is places I need the total to be static because the invoice has been sent and so if someone changes the order then the total owed doesn't change.
I then have a reconcile form which is on a datasheet form straight from the tab;e so it is editable which has a checkbox that then once ticked copies the total from the Order_Total in the table to the reconciled field in the same table and then I use a report to show who owes me still.
So I have made a Select query from the Orders table & Order_Details table and used a Group by Order number (Which is the link between the 2 tables) this shows correctly but now not editable because of the rules So I am trying to add an editable checkbox on the same form.
I tried to use a dlookup makes all of the boxes either ticked or not. I've been looking at Recordsets but I'm unsure if this is what I need or not really
So really I just need to see if I should be putting the Total from the Subform into the mainform and then entering it into the table (Like previously) using a calculated unbound field and then using the Afterupdate event to insert the data into the table. but for some reason it just wont work.
I can get the OnClick to work but then as soon as i go to the next record for some reason it then resorts to 0.00 but then the table shows correctly which ever record the form is working on.
Or should I be using the new query based idea to create the reconcile form and if this is the best way I just don't now where to start on how to get a multiple table query that I can then add a reconciled checkbox which then copies the Order_Total from the table to the Paymet_Recieved field.

I need to update a table at a client's site to change a couple of fields, and would like to be able to send them something that they can run on their end to perform an insert query.
I cant update the tables via RDP etc. because the database needs to be in Access '97 format, and they all run access 2003.
I also cannot get them to send me the file for updates since it needs to be online basically 24/7.
Is there any way for this to happen?

I have a 'tblStock' with fields 'ProductID', 'InitialStock', 'Buy', 'Sell' and 'UpdatedStock'. I also have a form 'StockUpdate' add values and also add new records to 'tblStock' .
If I have value [100] for IntialStock quantity, Buy [0] and sell [10], UpdatedStock will be [90] (that's done and fine!).
The problem is, I would like to make the UpdatedStock value [90] to be the NEW InitialStock, so that any BUY or SELL will keep updating the UpdatedStock and making it the NEW InitialStock for the next transactions and so on....

My membership database has worked fine until recently. Now I cannot save inserted data. On attempted saving "Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit" appears.
The problem. relates to 2 tables Member and Addresses. PK in the parent table Member is ID. In the Addresses Table the FK is ID. There is a One to One relation between the tables and Referential Integrity is set. I know 1 to 1 is not good but it worked fine in this small database.
Browsing the all of the existing records is fine.

I am working on a DB for work. Currently the form has 3 options, each one selected hides/shows different fields pertaining to that option. Works great when you are putting data into the tables using the form. Problem is when you start that the beginning and click 'next'. When clicking next you do not see the fields show or hide. How do I make this happen?

I've recently come across a problem whilst saving an edited record..I get the following message but only sometimes..could not update currently locked by another session on this machine..Sometimes the record saves without a problem (mainly on the first edit). However, any further edits of the same record mainly but not always triggers the above message. I can't work out why it's happening, It's a split database but I'm the only user on a standalone PC (so no other users editing the same record). Sometimes I get lucky and the record save even after the first edit but not always. There doesn't seem to be any pattern.
Record locks for the form are set to NO LOCKS
Recordset type is set to DYNASET
In settings -
Default open mode it set to SHARED
Default record locking is set to NO LOCKS
Open database by using record-level locking IS CHECKED
This has been working fine for years so I'm a little stumped as to why it should happen now. The only thing I've changed recently is a memo field from Plain text to Rich text.Whilst writing this I just went back and double checked and found that if I change any other field (not the memo field) the record saved just fine. So the problem is to do with the Rich Text memo field only.

i import data into a Landing table, this will always contain d days woth of data, i then run an apend query into another table were the records are stored up to 20 days, the problem i face is some of the record data may change for eample a field called ShippedQty may be 0 in a monday but on tuesday it may say 5

I am trying to UPDATE records from the Master form by clicking a button to a new window -
frmCustomerMaster (main form) - a button will trigger to UpdateCustomerMaster new window and pass all the data to the new window.
UpdateCustomerMaster (New window Form) On Submit Update values.
frmCustomerMaster (main form) - is currently locked by properties, I do not want main form to be editable.
how to pass the data to new window and how to update the records?
