I am new to Access and I am trying to make a Database. However, I have an attachment with each record and I would like to know if there is a way of making a button/link that will allow the user to navigate from each record to its respective attachment.
But what I need is that before printing, open the preview to set the margins and page size ... or at least to pre-configure so that when you press the button, and comes preformatted.
I have a form that lists records in a table. I would like to have a hyperlink beside each record that will open the data entry form and navigate to that specific record. Right now, the use can only open the form for all records and has to use the record navigation buttons to find the desired record.
Basically what I am doing is duplicating a split form. I am not using a split form because I want to be able to have better control over the bottom half, and I am giving the end user a slightly different view of the same information in the bottom pane.
I've created a form with a subform. When the user moves through the records in the subform, I want the parent form to navigate with it. Note the parent child relationship does not apply here.
I've almost got it working fine, but there is a bug. It seems to originate when the user clicks on the subform ID field while the cursor is the cross, like the Excel fill symbol. Now if the focus is on the subform where ID=2, when the user moves to the parent, the parent navigates away from the record for some reason.
I've noticed that the GotFocus event is firing multiple times, and some of the events are nested. I've tried to set a flag to prevent the nested events from firing, but the bug persists.
I posted a question the other day http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=143027 about not being able to open an Access 2003 database in Access 2007. It was asking for a password when I hadn't set one.
I gave up on that, started from scratch at home on Access 2007 last night and then saved the database in Access 2003 format. Took it to work on my USB drive today - where we use Access 2003 SP3 - tried to open it and had a message pop up saying that the database was an unrecognised format, or words to that effect. This is bugging the heck outta me!
I'm really beginning to suspect there is a problem with Access at work. Our IT guy downloaded the hotfix suggested by Moniker, but I can't see if it made any difference.
I've taken a fresh copy of my A2007 database, saved it in A2003 format again and attached it as zipped file below. Can someone just please see if it opens properly on their PC? It's very rough and ready as I only spent about an hour on it last night, but I just need someone to tell me if they can see the tables, forms etc.
- If you CAN open it, then I've got some evidence that there's a problem at work and can maybe talk our IT dept into a reinstall (or a new PC)
- If you CAN'T open it, then I must be doing somethnig wrong here and I'd really appreciate further advice.
I have an unbound listbox in my details section of my form and it will display items from the database that I have selected. There are 19 in all. If I double click the row, the edit form pops up. If I right click I can sort the columns. I want to have a single click that allows the user to open the attachment in that list. I am not sure how to code this.
I have created an action log database that sends an email when a new action is entered. I would like to launch the database using a hyperlink in the email, but can't seem to get it to work. All users have a copy of the front end on their desktop, so whatever I add to the email needs to launch the front end for any user signed on to their own desktop.
This is what I have and it sends a hyperlink but I click it, I get an error saying it can't find the file. I don't know how to word the path name for any user?
With obMsg .subject = "New action request for " & team .To = people
I am working on a database to hold the data regarding our company vehicles. I have a table for the details of the vehicle (i.e Registration, VehicleType, Drivername etc) and a number of tables for different types of equipment (AccessEquipment, LiftingEquipment, StandardEquipment and others).
I have a form that runs on a query with the criteria to search for the registration number. I have also set up forms to show each type of equipment to use as sub-forms. I would like to have on this main form a number of command buttons that would open the specific sub-form on the main form.
How can I do this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
I am attempting to create a form "frmROrder" with two command buttons, daily detail, and annual detail. Is there a way for me to set frmROrder up so that If I click on cmdDaily it opens subform frmROrderDaily or if I click on cmdAnnual, it opens subform frmROrderAnnual? Thanks for your help!
I have a database for recording jobs and invoices for our transport company. I was thinking of adding an "Attachment" type field to my invoice table to store pdf's of scanned copies of the delivery notes relating to the invoice. How this will affect the performance of the database? Will adding this field greatly increase the size of the database and slow the whole database down?
I often output reports as a PDF. I also use SendObject to send emails from my application. But is there a way to send a PDF as an attachment with SendObject? Perhaps not, as the PDF would not be within my application?
I have been using Access for quite some time now and I am able to usually work around many of the issues that come with being a small timer, like me, taking his best shot at Access; however one issue I have had absolutely no luck with is auditing a new and/or change made to an "Attachment Field". I have successfully been able to audit every type of field with the exception of the "Attachment Field".
I need to create an email with an Access report attached as a PDF. I am using Access 2007 and Lotus Notes. If I use SendObject with acSendReport and acFormatPDF, it opens an email just fine but the attachment is created with some random letters and numbers and .tmp as the file name.
If I use Adobe Reader to open the attachment it displays correctly as a PDF, but I need the attachment name to be .pdf so it will automatically open with Adobe for the users. Is there a way to accomplish this with Lotus Notes? I have searched this forum and found some options for Outlook users, but not for Lotus Notes.
I am currently using SendObj method to send an Outlook email and selected report as an attachment using the current form's data. This is triggered by a button click.
This is working well apart from having to use 'ClickYes' to outwit the Outlook 2012 security system.
However I now need to selectively send an extra pdf file with some of the emails based on a Yes/No field on the form. This is a fixed file on my local C drive.
I think I have to use automation to do that but I can't find a method of specifying the report I currently use in the SendObj method in the .Add.Attachment line.
Do I need to run the report and then save it so that I can specify the path and name in the .Add.attachment line followed by code which will delete the file? or is there a means of combining the code I currently use in SendObj to create the pdf object with automation option?
I have working code for both attachments at present but they send separate emails and I would prefer to combine them if possible.
I would like to automate the current process of sending an e-mail with a PDF attachment that is unique to each recipient; it is their test results. I'm sending an e-mail one at a time (which was fine when the number of folks being tested was small, but now I'm up to approximately 200 e-mails and growing each year)
System Environment:
Windows 7 SP1 (64 bit) Office 2010 Professional
Access environment and Process:
1. A qry object/letter is built based on 4 tables (test results, result averages, a global employee list and location)
2. The Report has both static and dynamic text. Examples include: "Dear" [qry-Letter. F_name] and Address Information
a. =[qry-Letters.F_Name] & " " & [qry-Letters.L_Name] b. =[qry-Letters.Position] c. ="Dept " & Right([qry-Letters.Dept],3) & ", " & [qry-Letters.City]
3. The report also includes the employee's results, the session averages (testing is conducted at multiple locations each occurrence is a session) and companywide averages.
4. Report Process: Run the report, entering primary key Emp_ID, report is populated saved (overwritten with the next Emp_ID and printed as a saved PDF.
5. MS Outlook: create a new e-mail, text body is common to all e-mails e.g. "attached are your test results" the PDF is attached and the e-mail sent to the recipient (the e-mail address follows the corporate standard, =Trim([qry-Letters.F_Name] & "." & [qry-Letters.L_Name] & "@abc.com")
I have a database that pulls images from a shared folder on our network with links. Is it possible to create a button to email the current record on a form and attach the file it references in the link?
The attachment is a pdf signature. I didn't want to include the files in the database for space issues.
I am using Access 2007. We out outlook as our email client.
