General :: Why Space Inserted When Export Report To RTF
Oct 22, 2012
I am exporting a report from access. The problem is after export to .rtf, all fields appears correct except a bar code field (CCode39). It adds a space after the text which makes text non-recognizable by bar code scanner. If I use other formats, then there is no problem. I tried by using plain text as well rich text format for that particular field.
I have a query that I export to a text file with fixed width settings.
For one particular field that had only been one character and 5 spaces I used PGM: " " & [ProgramCode] for my field. The recipient of the export file requires that this field be 6 spaces long and leading spaces fill in any unused field.
Now, one of the records for this field will be 2 character so the way it is now will cut off the leading character. How can I write this to add leading spaces until it reaches 6?
With the following VBA code, I'm trying to select the text value from a textbox and fill that in a query to select the code from a person. (a password only login).
However, I'm getting a run time error 3078 at the '' Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("strSQL")'' line.
Code: Private Sub Tekst6_AfterUpdate() Dim strSQL As String Dim strBarcode As String Set db = CurrentDb() 'strBarcode = Me.Tekst6 'MsgBox strBarcode
Is there a way to export a query of 14 items to a word report. I have a table of 14 items in that I use as a query but it only exports 1 item to the report.
A little background. I need to export the results of a query I use to build a report. For Print Master software I need the "Field Names" in the text file as well as the data for a Mail Merge in Print Master (PM).
"The field name information in the file you have specified is missing or not correctly formatted. The first line of the file must contain the database field names. Make sure the "Export Field Names" (or similar) option is selected in the program from which you are exporting data."
Trouble is, when trying to export the report or query, Access has no "Export Field Names" option. It works if I first export to Excel and then from Excel to "txt" then to Printmaster. I would like to eliminate the Excel step. Therefore, how do or can I get Access Export to transfer the "Field Names" along with the field data?
Background: I have a database with one main table that contains info on a variety of organizations and the services they offer. Another table lists regions these organizations are located in. The services they offer are listed in 11 different categories, each with its own field in the main database.
The end product of the project will be several reports. In particular, I need one report that lists by zipcode, each organization, its contact info, and any details about its services. The data for each organization will appear on several lines, as shown below: --------------- Org name Region Address Driving Directions Contact Name Phone Comments
Food bank: details of hours, etc. Hot meals: details.... [any services not offered does not appear or take up any vertical space] ---------------
The problem: Since the reports will be printed and put into booklets, we need to eliminate any blank lines caused by empty fields. In many cases an organization will only have one or two categories, so the other 9 or 10 lines would be blank and take up too much space on the page.
What I've tried: First I tried creating SubReports so I could use VBA scripts on the On Print event on the Detail section to make the SubReport invisble if it didn't have any data (HasData is false). That did make the SubReport not print, but it still took vertical space.
I struggled with various combinations of Can Grow and Can Shrink, but kept having problems with multiple lines appearing where there should hav been one line, and sometimes they were blank lines (especially if I didn't allow duplicates and there were several entries exactly the same). Whenever I got that undercontrol, the fields with no data took up space. Frankly, I'm not convinced I ever got them to NOT take up vertical space. (Maybe I didn't get it right. I'm open to trying again.)
Then I tried concatenating fields onto one TextBox, like this: Code:=("Food Purchase: "+[Food Purchase]+Chr(13)+Chr(10)+Chr(13)+Chr(10)) & ("Utilities: "+[Utilities]+Chr(13)+Chr(10)+Chr(13)+Chr(10)) & ("To Prevent Eviction: "+[To Prevent Eviction]) That works, but it seems like an ugly hack. The Chr(10)+Chr(13) create new lines. The + instead of the & makes it so that if any of the elements inside the parentheses are null, none of them print. So I can eliminate both the label and the new line, too.
Isn't there a better way to eliminate the vertical space when there's no data?
I have a database which is split so that several people can have a 'front end' to the database to access one common back end. This works fine on a network but I thought I could load the backend up to my webspace and then with the links manager point to it, but it doesn't work. I get an error report of 'not a valid file name.'
The website is [URL] .... and the backend database name is Probus_data_A.accdb and so I entered [URL] .... as the address in link manager.
We have created a database where data entry happens on the first form. So far all is working well on this form except users complain there is not enough space for comments. I set up a column for comments, but it is limited to 255 characters. What/How else can I set this up to provide a lot more room?
I am working on supporting spaces in the DB filename. I got the rest of my program working... other than being able to invoke Access with the specified filename for it to open.
Code: C:Documents and Settingsc_mlueckMy DocumentsFandango>"C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12MSACCESS.EXE" "Schema Ideas.accdb"
C:Documents and Settingsc_mlueckMy DocumentsFandango>dir "Schema Ideas.accdb" Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is C8E4-5856
Directory of C:Documents and Settingsc_mlueckMy DocumentsFandango
I've been asked to export an MS Access report to Excel. I'm having trouble with including subtotals, totals, etc. in the Excel sheet. I've enclosed a picture of how my report looks in Access, and was wondering if there's a way to export everything the report has into Excel......
Can anyone maybe point me in a good direction, or to a link that has info re: what I want to do?
And before anyone asks, it's for a manager who insists that everything be done in Excel, since that is what he's comfy with. Outside of that, I wouldn't be giving myself headaches, since my Access report contains everything needed.
I have something weird going on with my Access DB. I've run the report many times. After it runs I export it and becomes an Excel file. I ran the report today, did the export, and the file never showed up. It says it's exporting pages, but it's nowhere to be seen.
I've doublechecked the output location, etc. Everything looks good , but nothing is showing up.
I'm trying to put together a few lines of VBA code to export a report called "Rework Label Report" to a specific network location in PDF Format, I have already achieved this level of code and it works fine (code below); however each report has a unique number in the database [ID] which I would like included in the title of the PDF when exported and saved?
Code so far:-
Private Sub Command20_Click() Dim stReport As String Dim stSubject As String
[Code]....
Me!Combo3 is a combobox on form which selects the number of the report to be viewed ,the user then sees a preview of their chosen report and then clicks Cmd20 to export to PDF, currently the file is named Rework Label Report when saved.
Relatively speaking, I've got a pretty simple database. The presenters at our community radio station fill out a form of what song they play and this (along with the system time) is stored in a table.
I have a wildcard query to bring up all entries from a certain date and at present, I export a report of this by hand on a Saturday for everyday of the previous week - but I want to automate this?!
I can change the query to be a standard one to just bring up entries for today. I then, somehow, need to automatically export a report of this query as a PDF at midnight every night into a certain folder with the file name being today's date.
I have a beautiful report and when printed straight from access it has nice gridlines and even gridlines null fields (which I want). However when I export to excel all the fancy gridlines and bold fonts are lost. Is there a way I can get it to export to excel what I can print in access? I would like to be able to export to excel to add some extra rows before printing but not have to do all the formatting.
I've tried printing to word, same problem as excel. Tried printing a pdf and it looks exactly the same but I can't edit it to add the extra blank rows.
I am just starting with access and I have a VERY stupid question. I made a combobox (it gets its values from a table with 2 colums the first the ID and the second is the products) when a user selects one of the products in the combobox the combobox is supposed to update another table with that value (and I mean the product name) yet what it updates is the ID # of the product that was selected!! How do i go around this. I am new to access so i am not sure how things are done yet in access, i am pretty good in VBA in excel, but this is a new front for me that I am trying to learn. I did the above combobox using the wizard.
Hi I created an access with a picture I copied from the internet. When I run the report in Access, I can see the picture but when I export the report to a text file, the picture is lost. Is there anyway I can have the picture everytime I export the report to word format ?
I have a report (FI_ID) based in a query with the same name.
When i export this report to my desktop i need to manualy rename the filename.
What i need is a way to automatic rename my report to my text field value, called "Seq_Number" (it's a automatic number). At the end i will have 101.pdf, 102.pdf, 103.pdf in my desktop.
